I came to see an apartment today and Breanna G. helped me right away, very down to earth professionals whose very knowledgeable and provided great details of the apartment. It was little last minute when I came in, but she made sure I was welcomed to the community and left a lasting great first impression! I havent come across great customer service like this in maybe 10 years!!! Give her a raise! The apartment looked great and I love the pool area as well, the price is beyond competitive too! All in all, I recommend Forest Isle!
BEWARE: The property itself is in disrepair. The foundations of the buildings are not level and cracking, the sewers constantly backing up (see pictures), the only pool THE QUIET POOL is not kid friendly if your kids are like most kids and make noise while they swim not to mention its been closed since 2020, while the staff is extremely friendly, polite, and professional, the property manager Margaret Hunter-Edwards is one of the most unprofessional slum lords I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Not only have I been informed that the owner, property manager Ce ce, and staff can enter my apartment without any notification what so ever, I have also been informed that the third party servpro who has recently as September of 2021 had supervisors arrested for stealing property from college students at Tulane University while cleaning up storm damage see pictures will also be allowed free reign to wander my apartment without my permission when ever they want. After voicing my concerns to management I received a phone call from them addressing my concerns and informing me that I would receive some notification before my apartment was entered so I could at least put up my small dog so he doesnt get out while I am not home. This made me feel somewhat better about the situation because at least I would have time to get there before they let known thieves into my home. Then I received a email from the property manager Margaret Hunter-Edwards which I will post in full now.4:46 PM (4 hours ago)to hurricaneida, meDear Mr. Summers,We are in receipt of your email however must point out that Section 19 of your signed lease agreement provides for entry to your apartment by the ownership/mgmt or representatives. While your permission is not warranted, we are informing all residents that ongoing inspections are likely to occur without prior notice due to Hurricane Ida mitigation. Of course we will endeavor to limit interruptions whenever possible.Thank you in advance for your cooperation,Forest Isle Mgmt.Section 19 of my lease is posted below in the pictures. It literally states that they are not responsible for third parties that they let into my apartment if they rob me. It says absolutely nothing about them being able to enter my apartment. When Mrs Edwards becomes more professional about addressing tenants concerns I will remove my review.Loyal tenant since 2012.
This place spent money on light up security gate rails that can’t even stay intact when they should have used the money to fix the many issues around the complex. The washers and dryers in all 3 laundry areas are messed up. Either they hold water, don’t take your money, or are broken. They’ve said since last year they were working on replacing these machines…hmm. The buildings are at a slant, it’s very noticeable and the foundation under many of the buildings looks to be unstable. Some look like if someone were to jump one good time they would collapse. You can see the foundation under some of the buildings bulging from the ground and the many holes were rodents hide. How stable are these buildings? And the front entrance area is a mess!! You have to dang near flood your car to exit the complex when it’s raining because the road is messed up. Their solution was the put gravel down to try to level the area……it didn’t help at all. This apartment complex needs a complete overhaul.
Breanne (red hair) (light eyes) is the most pleasant, sweetest person ever! She helped me with everything I needed literally! Sometimes I can be a little hard to deal with but she dealt with me perfectly and respectfully ! Please keep her around she is GREAT
I signed my lease here at Forest Isle 3 days ago and I’m already hating the treatment/regretting this decision! The leasing agents are super nice and welcoming while they are trying to get you to lease an apartment! Then their attitude changes once you SIGN! The leasing agents gave me a bunch of untrue information when she was showing me the apartment! Now that I’m asking her about her LIES, she has an attitude and says “well I’m new and I’m sorry for misinforming you.” She is no longer the nice sweet girl that showed me the apartment. She has an “oh well you signed now” attitude!” DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice apartments, nice staff, easy application process.. Simple enough.
The leasing agents in that office are the most annoying people ive ever registered for apartments with. They will harass you for more info 20 times with spam emails requesting documents. I was sick and everyday I got a email I told the rep I would send when I could but then received 10 more emails asking for the same documents. Guess the place is desperate for residents but it still was annoying that my inbox was filled with emails. Breannah was rude and you could hear in her voice she didnt like first time renters and didn’t like that I had so many questions. She also couldnt answer half of the questions I asked but instead of finding the answer she just said I think or Im not really sure she also made sure to keep telling me that she was new like it was a excuse for bad customer service. Ive been new on a job and if you dont have the answer you find someone who does. Nice place bad office team they all dress and talk like it’s amateur night
I have been living in Forest Isle Apartments from 2002-2017 without ANY problems EXCEPT for flooding outside and lost my 2010 Chevy Tahoe (total loss water was 1 inch from covering the headlights (floods really bad back there)). I have lived in 2 apartments back there from 2002-2016 in my first apartment & from 2016-2017 in my second apartment. While living in my 3rd apartment is where I really saw Forest Isle Apartments for what they REALLY ARE! I got into a Domestic dispute where I was lied upon (being picked on by an ex and his live in girlfriend) and those allegations couldn’t be proven because it NEVER happened & COULDN’T have happened because of the fact I’m disabled and cannot run and do all the things that was falsely stated. The office took the other parties side and I have had to live here from March 2020 month to month which raised my rent by $80. I sent a certified letter to the owner who lives in New York back on February 26, 2020 & he NEVER replied. The office manager is VERY RUDE & UNFRIENDLY. I am disabled and awaiting another back surgery so it’s NOT that easy for me to move & my son had knee surgery in December and is still recovering. I have reported a black mold problem since May 2020. Maintenance did come fix it AFTER I had to WAIT and when it was FINALLY “fixed” the outer wall had been changed but spray was sprayed on the Sheetrock instead of changing it like it should’ve been changed. There was a leak that was fixed but I believe it’s still leaking because I checked it this month March 2021 and the wall is soft again. By me being disabled my sense of smell has increased and I told them that I STILL smell it. Water has came through the bathroom vent and light fixture before. I have given them a notice from my doctor asking them to move me to another apartment and their response was for me “to move”. I CURRENTLY have an area in my apartment where mold is growing right now where I can SEE IT! I had my sofas steam cleaned a month ago for $125 & it’s ALREADY growing back, it’s on my dining room table & the chairs, my bed, my bedroom dresser, etc. I reported it was on the windows throughout the apartment and I was told to clean it with bleach and water. I did that and it’s growing back. I DID NOT have this problem with my other 2 apartments it’s JUST THAT this 1 needs to be FIXED. I am being TOTALLY DISCRIMINATED AGAINST AS A DISABLED PERSON & I’m just working on moving at this point and prayerfully I don’t hurt myself trying to move as I SHOULD NOT be put in this position!!! I have pictures and videos of these sights NOT EVEN an animal should have to endure. I wouldn’t suggest these apartments to my WORST enemies because I DO have a heart. I’m just going to work on moving because I’m tired of going to my family doctor for respiratory problems which I ALREADY know the problem is my environment here in my apartment. By me being disabled the main place I am IS HERE. The only reason I’m giving 1 star is because of the OUTSIDE appearance of the apartment complex.
Better communication not to waste people time to say ONE thing and then it’s another. That’s unprofessional.
My car has been broken into twice. Maintenance is slow to respond. My brand new mattress was stolen from in front my door. Management is very unfriendly.
Good for military/first time renters. These are the most affordable apartments around. Has some issues.Pros:Safe (Surrounding area is bad but that goes for 99% of New Orleans)Very affordable (15% Military Discount)Maintenance requests occur the same day or day after.I dont know what experience others have had but Ive never had any issue with the staff and management. I found them to be nice and havent tried to screw me over or anything.Utilities except electric are included in rentCons:The buildings are jacked up. New Orleans buildings like to sink, and in forest isle you have slanted apartments. I can set a ball on the floor in my apartment and it will roll on its own.Mold is an issue. They should install dehumidifiers in all the apartments.300$ pet deposit. Not a whole lot of parking spaces.
We have lived here for the past 1.5 years. My husband and I are sad that we will be relocating to a different state due to military orders. The people in the office are some of the most friendly and helpful people that I know. The maintenance staff is also very sweet. I have come to know many of the staff by first name basis. My dog is happy and healthy and he loves going for walks in the complex. We have awesome neighbors. I have never felt threatened or scared by living here. I feel safer than living on base. Highly recommend.
This apartment complex is pretty good for people who want cheap options that dont sacrifice too much. Some apartments are older but better than most places in New Orleans. Also discount for military is a plus and generally dog friendly.
Pros: Nice, clean and quiet area. The city is loud rowdy and dangerous at times, but this area takes you away from it. Gorgeous pool, clean laundry facility, mail area and property in general. The property is always making adjustments to help build its appearance or fixing issues. Maintenance orders are not ignored.Cons: Security gate individuals have attitudes with guests and relays vile messages through guests for tenants. Leaving out the complex floods when it rains, but the city takes forever fixing everything. We all know how downtown looks when it rains due to the drainage system.Overall, the complex is great. Human errors happen, but that I am not really concerned about. Having peace and quiet in a city of chaos is important. Forest isle provides that. There are a lot of stray cats and raccoon, but the tenants feed them. Therefore, it makes it hard for the property to keep them out. I think this is just a New Orleans thing were people just feed strays. Ive seen it in every complex Ive lived in thus far.
They are very accommodating and well maintained. Maintenance usually responds to request the same day.
Quiet, dog and children friendly. Great neighbors and very polite and caring staff. Have not once had a problem with any of them. Maintenance team is top notch and always there to fix a problem within a day of your troubleshooting call, not to mention they have a 24/7 Hotline number. Ill be renewing my lease this month without a doubt. Keep up the great work!
Noisy neighbors. Had truck broken into and had two co workers apartments attempt to get broken into
Called two weeks ago, paid app fee, assured apt was available and would be ready by June 5 for move in. Arrived to view apartment and was told new carpet was being put in an their policy did not allow pets in apartments with new carpet. Asked for written policy, unable to produce it. Told by Adrianna that she would call so we could look at another apartment today(Monday) its 1:30pm still no call received. At the very least they could offer a return of application fee for this run around. I do not recommended this property for military affiliated personnel.
I lived there for a year, fled as soon as my lease was up. I had lots of little issues with them, almost everyone on here who gave a bad review echoed my experience with them. I had my rent on a monthly automatic withdrawal, on my last month, it didnt work for some reason. Without so much as a phone call, I was charged a late fee and sent a door notice threatening eviction; I was out of town for a few days. So not only did i have to pay my rent, but a late charge AND their court fees for filing an eviction notice. Like someone said in a previous comment, READ THEIR LEASE CAREFULLY. It includes but doesnt limit, paying a good percent of their court fees if you go to court with them, and leaving notices on your door being sufficient notification of anything. All this happened after I put in my 30 day notice; I got several phone calls about looking at different apartments and staying with them but not a single one about my late rent. Also, the book keeper, (Michelle Dufresne? not sure if shes still there)was so rude. She kept telling the front desk girl to say she was at lunch, for more than a three hour period, when I tried to come talk to her. I just thought after paying my rent for 11 months with no incident I deserve better than that; take this for what its worth I hope it helps. One last thing, all those girls in the office are really good at getting you to sign the lease, but after that they dont seem to have any idea how to answer any questions or anything about whats going on in their Apartments.
Weve lived here for 2 years, and are planning to live here for another year, and we love it. We live in a cute one bedroom apartment with our two dogs. Anytime anything has been wrong with our apartment (aka toilet leaking from the base, suspicion of mold in our vents, etc) they have fixed the issue immediately. These issues are few and far between for us, but I imagine the complex is older, so these things are to be expected. The leasing office has always been great to us, especially Lindsey. She is wonderful! We have really great neighbors and they are all friendly, which we really enjoy. And this place is super dog friendly, which is wonderful for us.I do have 3 complaints. The first is with the lawn guys. Sometimes they leave empty water bottles, or snack wrappers on our patio, and they also kick up rocks at the windows, which has chipped and cracked our living room window before. I will say maintenance came and replaced the window immediately though with no hassle. The second is with car break ins. I think there should be more cameras around parking areas to catch the people going through peoples cars. As long as your car isnt accidentally left unlocked though you are fine. And the third is with parking in general and the lack of enforcing the rules on people parking where they arent supposed to. Parking is limited, but not impossible. Its a little frustrating having people park in fire lanes or other non parking areas which makes it difficult to maneuver in and out of regular parking areas.Overall I love it though. My complaints havent affected my experience here that significantly. Our experience has been great with the staff, the apartment itself and our neighbors.
The two things they have going for them is a great maintenance team and beautiful property. However, theyre easily countered by a horribly rude leasing staff owned by a greedy money-obsessed company. Not to mention their internet service provider, Cox, is extremely slow (due to network infrastructure) and WILL NOT be fixed even if you put in a ticket on both sides. Everything looks and sounds nice, but dont be fooled all they want is your money and they will do what they can to take it from you.
I called this complex on 12/3/18 searching for my Grandmother Thelma Yarbrough from an address I found on google to inquire if she resides there to no avail. Leasing Management Jasmine Smith was extremely rude & uninformative. The disrespect I received from the Staffs Manager showed total unprofessionalism & her lack of morality reflects on this establishment. I was told they couldn’t give me any information and rejected taking my info and delivering it to her if she actually does reside there right before abruptly hanging up on me. I just hope your never looking for a lost loved one because Karma has a way of showing people that it doesn’t cost you anything to be a decent person, God Bless your heart.
I love everything about living here. Maintenance is fast & thorough!
I lived in forest isle for 2 and a half to 3 years, my husband lived there a year longer. I found the apartment complex for him and thought it would be perfect! Military discount, gate guard 24/7, pet friendly, BEAUTIFUL pools and levy area, not a far drive from base. Most of those things still stand as PROS (except they renovated the one pool and got ride of the kids one all together, still looks nice but nothing compared to the original)But oh my goodness those people working there and the new owners are unbelievable.Examples. I got a fine for blocking the parking lot. Anyone that has lived here knows how bad parking is, but I got that fine because my husband and brother were carringing in our wedding present and the manager flew up and almost hit them. 2 hours later, I had a fine on the door. I was recording it so that fine didnt stick.fined with a picture of SOMEONE ELSES dog pooping and my dog running past theirs.I got a bill for the toliet leaking, 345$. i called when it wasnt so bad, by the time they came to fix it, their was water in half the appt. There was nothing I could do.fined for our neighbors son threating to kill my husband. This one got dismissed as well because the police came. The police actually had to tell the manager to stop interfering or they would be detained. They also gave me a warning when I had my wallet stolen from my locked car about calling the police. I had to explain to them that I had to call either way because of my military id.I got a warning for 2 other residents (that lived there as well) walking to our appt and passing out drunk. Also tried to charge me for a second pet when I only had one. The cat they kept saying was mine, was our neighbors outdoor cat that worked for them. She did all the flowers. All of those things happened in the last 6 months we were there. Prior to that we had no issues at all. I was informed the ownership changed and as soon as the lease was up, we ran out of there. They offered to upgrade us to a bigger appt that we had been waiting for, but after all that..... no sane person would stay.
Nice staff. Everything is pretty well maintained, and the new pool renovation is awesome.
Terrible place, had a plumbing issue that they gave me a wetvac for and told me that they would finish fixing it in the morning after it had flooded my bathroom and laundry room instead of just turning off the water. when I finally left that place, they sent a bill to collections without telling me about it at all and it almost cost me my job.
Very quite and peaceful apartment complex. Good place to live.
Absolutely the most horrid apartment complex in the entire area. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Cosmetically it is absolutely beautiful and inviting, but the management and ownership is out of this world horrendous. They harass tenants and come up with OUTRAGEOUS accusations and absolutely do not give you an option to dispute. They play favorites on tenants who have lived there for 10 years. They do not have properly installed cameras. Is doesnt matter if you pay your rent on time each month, if your neighbors have an unauthorized pet or if your other neighbors smoke pot, you will be blamed solely on the fact that they just so happen to choose you to harass on that given day. If your plumbing fails, due to their disregard for upkeep, YOU will be charged. Read the lease word by word. AND TAKE PICTURES. You will move into an apartment with old used moldy carpet... they will then charge you for replacement. These are only a few problems that have occured. I have lived here, and have known six other MILITARY families who have lived here and had the same issues if not worse. If you are military, live somewhere else..
This place has a terrible online review an for good reason. Dont move in here. I wish I hadnt. These people are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, rude..Im moving out the first chance I get!!
These apartments are Nice but that big girl at the gate is crazy and the old lady is crazy to
Good complex. Ive been here for about 2 years, and havent had many problems. The problems I have had were maintenance issues and they came to fix it asap. This is my opinion about this complex:Office Personnel:Ive never had a bad experience with the office personnel. Every time I go there with questions/inquiries, they do what they can to give me an answer. People are saying they are rude.. I dont know.. ive never experienced that.Maintenance:The maintenance and upkeep of the apartment is my biggest gripe. It isnt so much of the office staff, but the lawn care workers. These guys are rude, not verbally, but are inconsiderate of the people who live here. I live in a corner space, and when they cut grass they bump into the sides of my apartment and its really annoying. Sometime they also park weird and take up 3-4 parking spots - which is a nightmare when there arent any spots available. I really wish they would hire a different lawn care crew lol they are just so annoying. The apartment sometime have things that go wrong but if you call maintenance they will come as soon as they can. Great maintenance crew, horrible lawn care crew.Pets:People are saying they see pets not on a leash? Ive rarely seen that. The pets in the apartment are well behaved. The only time Ive seen that occur is when people are running on the levee and their dogs are running with them - keep in mind this was really early in the morning. And Ive only seen that once. If you have a pet this place is really pet friendly and Ive never encountered a dog that wasnt well behaved.Bugs:Bugs do have a way of getting themselves in your apartment, especially in the winter. I havent had many issues with critters in my new apartment, but my old apartment was much older than the one I live in now and had that problem frequently.Safety:The community outside of the complex isnt the safest I guess, but its New Orleans and you will have good and bad everywhere you go. Lets put it like this, Ive never felt unsafe in this apartment complex. Never had a break in or anything. There are gate guards, and they are nice.Just giving my opinion of the complex. Like I said, ive been here for two years and this is just my experience. I live in a nice apartment too, and am just moving because I am about to start a family. If things were different I think I would stay a bit longer. Military friendly place with military discounts and decent apartments and right off of a busy street with EVERYTHING on it. Right down the street from Wal-Mart and about 3-4 miles away from the mall. About 10 minutes away from the French Quarter and even closer to the Superdome and Smoothie King Center. Decent place, good location, nice staff, decent price. If you are a college kid looking for an affordable place or just someone strapped for cash who want the biggest bang for your buck I recommend this property.Im moving soon, and since I am coming to the end of my stay here, thought id write an honest review of what it was like.
Friendly staff, and its a beautiful location. Especially the new pool!
I would not recomment anyone to move here. My boyfriend and I have lived here for 2 years. The apartments are completelynslanted. It is not just ours. I have multiple friend who will be moving because of the same reason. The construction of the apartments are not good. There is always something wrong with this apartment. the kitchen sink falls threw every four months. The mold is unbelievable. We are always harrassed by the leasing office. We live acrossed from one of the workers who has been making our lives a living hell. First off, she parks on the side where we live on instead of in front of her door, 9 times out of 10 the spots in front of her door is empty. So if we have a problem the leasing office isns any help because she works there and gives us the run around. She lies on us all time. Next, this is DOG ISLE no forest isle. The amount of dogs in this apartment is ridiculous. and half the time, they are not on a leash. Do not move into these apartment I have warned you. My boyfriend and i will be moving out at the of the year.
Its awesome.
They act like they care but like any apartment complex they want your money and will do any thing they can to get it.
Quiet, clean and hidden from foolishness
