Sad the pool is no longer available, I had a motorcycle accident and water exercise would be helpful however I joined anyway, better than PF I usually do jot have to wait for equipment.

I signed membership and then in 2020 had to move to another state. Ever since I try communicate with them and cancel membership but it’s impossible - they not give that option. Horrible experience with this “gym”. Extremely unprofessional. There is no easy way or any way to cancel their “service” which I’m not using for months. Isn’t there people who actually want to go to their gym? Talking with them feels like with a wall or telemarketers who try to sell you something you don’t need. I don’t want your service!!! Give me my money back for months when I didn’t use your service and my membership was cancelled already!

I’ve been to a lot of Gold’s around the country, let me just start off by saying the crew that works this gym is amazing. Will and his guys do an amazing job of making you want to come to their gym. It’s always clean, in order, and not overly crowded.

Great experience working out here while in town visiting Schlitterbahn! It’s got all of the essentials, and a good atmosphere with some diversity in the crowd in terms of age and fitness level. The gentleman at the front desk, Brandon Knouse was helpful, courteous, and exemplary across the board in terms of customer service- will visit again!

Love Golds! Classes are great, variety of equipment. Pool is not in used as of yet but hopefully that will change. No childcare at the moment is the only thing I dont like my son had to become a member.

It gets very crowded and there is no enforcement of the wipe down policy. I have been in there for two hour windows and I don’t see anyone (staff) wiping down or cleaning unused equipment. And typically you will see 3 and 4 employees hanging around the registration desk chatting instead of cleaning or interacting with members.

Great gym! But doesn’t having 30 cars in the parking lot at 4:45 waiting to get in make you think you should open at 4:30?

Are you concerned about going to the gym with the risk of Covid? THEN DON’T USE THIS LOCATION!!!While I’ve had great experiences with other Gold’s Gym, this one does not require you to wear a mask. When I asked the staff, their excuse was that the county guidelines don’t “require” them to enforce wearing a mask anywhere you can be 6 feet away from others.Meanwhile they have signs that tell you to wash your hands for 20 seconds and every other sink is turned off to “enforce” social distancing. So they have signage to boss you around, making you feel like you need them to think for you but they don’t enforce wearing masks in a pandemic.It’s obvious they aren’t thinking for themselves or taking responsibility for their role in the spread of Covid.

I love Golds. Ive been going to this location for over a year now. Its been several years since Golds opened in New Braunfels. Can this location update on the equipment already?

Was impressed with how clean the facility is. Hard to find well maintained and managed Gyms these days but this Golds gets my vote.

Terrible management. I was in town and went there for the first time to check it out. When I walked in they said I needed my drivers license to do a trial day which I had forgotten. I understood and was not angry about it but then they told me I looked like someone who works out and accused me of trying to get a free workout. Completely unnecessary comment, very rude, and smug. I will never go to a Golds gym again. My negative experience was the direct result of the treatment I received from the managers at this location. Please go to another gym where managers care about their clients.

Outstanding atmosphere. Plenty equipment and very clean.

This Golds Gym is spacious, clean and well located. Being located in the shopping mall area in New Braunfels was a smart choice. The facility has a complete array of free weight and machine weight workout areas. There is also a stretching area, cardio area, a movie theater cardio area and am area of machine assisted machines that use cables rather then weights. They also have a pool, with an hottube in the same room. Along with a sauna in the bathroom area. There are showers too. The facility is kept clean and the staff has answered every question I have ever had. Only a couple of minor complaints. 1) Its very busy from 4pm to about 7pm, Monday through Friday. 2) The movie theater cardio area only plays one movie all day, it does change each day. When the facility opened and I first started here they played two different movies, back to back, all day. Now its just one movie all day. Which means if you dont like the movie you wont be running in there. Other than those two things to facilities great, the people are welcoming and there are plenty of machines to choose to use.

This Golds Gym is legit. Great place to get it in and feel comfortable doing so, the staff is also amazing.

At the current moment I’m kind of in the middle on feelings with Gold’s gym I love the place but I feel that there’s not enough enforcement on the policies as far as wearing masks and cleaning the equipment. I was hesitant on coming back for this reason. Like I said I love the place but all of these signs posted and announcements mean nothing if you don’t enforce the rules I think they have to set an example and actually tell people to leave if they are not wearing those masks!

Pool is closed for covid but it is a terrific facility. Cardio, crossfit, machines, and free weights, as well as plenty of space to stretch. Aerobics studio for classes. Great staff.

All employees are very welcoming and friendly. Everything was always being sanitized. No broken equipment, or weights. Overall I would highly recommend going to this golds gym before I go to any other one!

Great staff. Water aerobics instructor Diego is THE BEST! Pool and facility is kept very clean and obeying all the Corona Virus Safe Rules.

Fabulous place to excercise at your own pace, or to take part of the different types of classes they offer. Nice workout theater where you can excercise and watch a movie. The acquatic excercises are very good, very popular.

Golds Gym has treated me like family. The staff and trainers will go above and beyond for you. All you need to do is put in the work. Great place, not your typical Golds. The child care staff has also been great to my kids.

I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for 2 months and am continually being charged. I asked for upper managements email and he won’t respond unless I send multiple emails. Any other gym in new braunfels is better

Been going to golds for 11 years, despite them turning into a little bit more of a fitness center than a gym they are still reasonably priced and have a culture centered around weight lifting

When did golds gym get so terrible. I’ve been charged $20 late fees for a card that works perfectly everywhere except for golds gym apparently. When pointed out to staff, they all say they’re going to reverse the charge, but shockingly none of them do and I just have to eat it. Apparently there’s no accountability. Both times I’ve been told it’s been put in the service book and it will get taken care of. For lack of other comparable options, they know people will stay with them regardless and maybe that’s the reason they have seemed to just not care anymore. Pretty sad

Not sure staff is really policing the wipe down rule very well. I have observed members not wiping down equipment. Other rules that should be announced or emphasized is that exercise equipment is not a place to sit and use your phone while others are waiting and trying to expedite their workouts (exercise stations are not phone booths). Also turn down the volume on that sappy pop music (Im so sexy and I know it) it is mind numbing and unnecessary. I could go on.

They have a great selection of machines and weights and its usually not very crowded. However, the trainers dont seem to arrive on time if youre not paying for their sessions, so if you schedule a body scan (even if you have the membership that includes it) expect to be stood up, then reschedule and stood up again, all in the same morning. Also, they only have one maintenance person at any given time, so its impossible for them to keep up with the mess gym goers leave behind, like not wiping off their equipment and putting the weights wherever they want. So basically if you dont do the body scan and dont mind hunting for the weight you need, youll be fine cause other than that its a nice gym.

Quiet and friendly environment with a lot of available equipment to choose from.

I have never even checked in to your gym!!!I did cancel the trial membership online this will be the 2nd time.. But I have been charged $297.03 for a membership I have NOT ONE TIME USED. I have never even been to your gym. And you continue to charge me. I am contacting the better business bureau. When someone cancels after a trial membership you should not be able to continue charging them!!! I want my money back!!!!!!!!! This is going on every review I can find for Golds Gym!!!!!!!!!

Excellent gym experience! Golds has everything your fitness journey requires.

The only reason I am rating this otherwise great gym a 2 star rating, is because of their hot tub. With how packed this gym gets the only reason I chose golds is because of the hot tub. I have extremely bad muscle spasms near my spine and a hamstring that was torn in my younger days. So when the hot tub is out (which is more time than not) I simply can not get a workout in. I actually feel bad I have to post here for something other then their first class staff... but the hot tub issue needs to be addressed ASAP.

Highly enjoy the community feeling, non judgmental and friendly! As a trainer at Golds I couldnt ask for a better group of people I am lucky enough to make reach there fitness goals in a facility that has so many new equipment options and floor space. Anyone in need of help on a workout, body fat % being taken or just a simple conversation talking about how our days going and finding your motivation. I enjoy being there as a helping force for everyone and anyone.

This gym is very clean, my daughter loved the kids club and the staff in there and overall it doesnt get too packed to the point where I am waiting to use something. Their treadmills are very nice, the stretching room has what you need, the trainers (from observation) look like they know what theyre doing. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful!! There is only ONE lady at the front desk who has had an attitude. Instead of greeting you with a smile, she acts more like security! I have coworkers who also attend and theyve had the same experience with her! Anyway, aside of that this gym is awesome!!

Their policy indicates you have to cancel in person. Once that has been done, their corporate office continues to draft money from your account. No one is reprimanded for the lack of competence in their company. DON’T DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM! Had an accident in December. But because I couldn’t appear in person, they continued to draft from my account. VETERANS STAY AWAY! if you go on deployment Golds gym will continue to draft your account t! They are not concerned about your situation. IF YOU DO NOT PRESENT YOURSELF IN PERSON, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BE CHARGED UNTIL YIU DO! Horrible way to do business. Check your bank account, a lot of different amounts were drafted from my bank and absolutely no one from Golds will look into it!

Please be wary of hidden costs that come. We signed up and were told that if we did the tripack that we’d get the money back if we signed up for personal training. My mom did this but only signed up for 10 sessions. Instead they signed her up for 2 1/2 months, with no possibility of refunds and the tripack was not given back. It’s come out to over $1200. She is still confused over what happened, and with no copies of the contract given to her, she can only go by their word. When canceling (we did the month by month basis, no contract) we were never sent a copy of cancellation and were charged an extra fee. We understand that 30 days cancellation notice is needed and we’d be charged one last time the following month, but this fee wasn’t our monthly cost or on the day it usually pulls. ALSO, WE WENT IN TO CANCEL TOGETHER AND THEY ONLY PROCESSED MINE. THEY DIDNT PROCESS HERS AT ALL. How convenient, since her account was the one everything was tied to. I was right next to her watching her sign everything and turn it in. Of course their printer was “broken” and they couldn’t give us copies, and without copies you can’t dispute anything.Please make sure when you go here that you get copies of everything signed, right then and there because they will not give them to you. There is also almost always no night person who is around, not sure what they’re doing, and people end up having a tendency to loiter around the equipment gossiping.Management aside, the facility is small and usually fairly busy, so be prepared for that. The day staff is awesome and always so welcoming, and the trainers are really fun and work with you. This was a really big, scary step for us, and it really went wrong. It’s such a disappointment. Also please be aware that they are not BBB accredited, so you will have issues filing any complaints.Thanks to the trainers and front desk staff during the day. Y’all were awesome!

If youre a mid day trainer: Go before Noon or between 2 and 4. Perfect times if youre like me and hate waiting for equipment.Huge variety of machines.Many cardio machines to choose from.They offer a large range of classes.Daycare staff is phenomenal.The sauna is a great way to relax and sweat out some toxins.Bonus: the smoothies are delectable.

Always good place to stay fit

When we joined 2 years ago we were told we could cancel at any time at the front desk. That is not true. You have to go to the golds gym member website to cancel. And then they will continue to draft money against your credit card. Reaching the corporate customer service is very difficult and requires very long wait times till an operator picked up.

Love the gym! some staff need some friendliness training, but mostly everyone is nice. Recently, one of the girl cleaners was on her phone, her garbage can and cleaning supplies were blocking one of the machines. I waited a few seconds, she saw me, then motioned to me just a minute as she continued to text. She didnt move, so I had to contort myself to add my weight to the machine...just added some core work to my workout I guess...Ill continue to pay my dues, to pay her salary, so she can still text without interuption. 🙄😄

Mostly if you go in the afternoon way to crowded almost unimpossible to get a good workout in. Mondays and Mostly Tuesdays. Friday afternoons best time to go and in the mornings no problem. Nice and knowledgeable staff. Very clean and up to date gym

I moved from Redmond, WA a few months ago, where I was a member at the Golds there. That gym has almost the same amenities as the NB gym (they had basketball) but it was $90/month per person. I always get a good workout at this Gym. The equipment is new, there is enough if it, the facility is not cramped, and Ive found the staff to be professional and courteous. I wouldnt mind if they played their music just a little louder for more motivation. This gym could easily be a Ruby-class Golds, so people paying for a gold membership should be happy.

I’ve been a members here for quite some time. I am considering canceling and taking my business elsewhere. I have a son leaving for bootcamp next month. So before he goes I wanted to take him with me for workouts and be well prepared when he ships out. I couldn’t believe the fees Goldsgym is trying to charge. At first it was 49.99 per week. 200’a month just to use the gym. I was upset and then was told they can do 79.99 for sign up for the month plus 29.99. Wow! This place need to get it together. I also have a veteran friend that has a membership from Dallas, and when he came into Goldsgym in New Braunfels location; he was told he can’t use a day pass. Smh what’s wrong with this place?

I am at this gym at least once a week and its good. My main issues are the added costs for Kids Club and Cycling because when we first joined we were told those would be included. The machines are in good shape and there are plenty to go around. My wife is a big fan of the Zumba classes. The Kids Club workers are great with kids also. My daughter likes it there and they know her name when she comes in.

Good weights

I walked in over the Thanksgiving weekend and loved my experience. The staff was friendly and got me in to work out quickly. The facilities are huge with every kind of machine and free weight system you could want. Great experience.

The facility is great. Only complaint is that the front desk staff hasnt been friendly ONCE since we joined several months ago, and has been downright rude to us a couple of times. Otherwise everyone there seems nice.

Started personal training and cancelled after 2 months but not only did they cancel my personal training they cancelled my membership and tried to make me pay the $50 dollar enrollment fee. I called and talked to Dustin the first week and he told me he would contact customer care and get back to me. He never did and I called back the next week and talked to his boss Fernando. Fernando basically said the same thing and never called me back so the next week I called back and talked to Veronica the assistant GM, and she told me it would have to get sent to customer care AGAIN and that she would call me back in a few days. A few days go by, no call, and finally today I get contacted by Dustin basically telling me that Veronica got after him which was why he was finally calling me back and that I have to take a 12 month contract to go back to my month to month that THEY cancelled to begin with or customer care would backdate me and I would have to PAY FOR PERSONAL TRAINING AGAIN just to get my month to month with no contract back. Dustin became noticably irritated that I was confused and frustrated that I was being taken advantage of, and was rude and unhelpful the entire conversation.

This is one of the nicer Golds around. Ive been to 8 or so in San Antonio Austin Area. Its a gym and as long as you expect that you are gonna have a good time.

This place is great! Its convenient, accommodating, and clean. I highly recommend you join and then immediately go talk to Eddy Jamerson. If you want a trainer who really knows what hes talking about, this man is the man. Next on my agenda is the cross fit option that Golds offers.

I work out at this gym 4 times a week and absolutely love it. My kids (ages 3 and 1) love playing in the Kids club and really enjoy the staff. I take body pump, golds cycle and tabata class and think all the instructors do a pretty great job. I would highly recommend this gym.

Huge gym, great classes, lots of machine weight, and cardio equipment. Good variety of free weight. Plenty of free classes come with membership. Trainers available. Pool, gold fit and cycle classes available as an add on. Clean locker rooms, sauna. And of course if you have kiddos they offer a child watch.

Nice place that does not smell like a gym. All equipment is laid out in a nice fashion. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Locker room is neat and orderly. Has cycling, movie theater, and lap pool.

Good to go. Keeping that hot tub working for 2weeks Straight finally. Nice staff and try to keep building clean.

Becareful when canceling your membership. They will say “oh just another billing cycle to process” and then they continue to bill you! Spoke to management SEVERAL times and always assured issue was resolved. Nope, thankfully my bank protected my account from their erroneous billing! Be ware

Very clean gym and locker area. Modern equipment with sufficient weights and treadmills. I recommend their session with personal trainer for workout advice.

For the price it is pretty dirty and the weight lifting equitment is quite run down. It is busy pretty much all day. In the morning there lots of senior citizens who may or may not be pushy about how long you are using the equipment they want to use. They do have an aquatics center which is a big plus as well as cycle classes. They do also have a CrossFit like area, but they have some regulations for safety such as certain equipment is not there. I do wish they had a clean after you use sign and more wipe down and cleaning sprays around. Gyms are kind of gross and you have to use a mat for any exercises or you will get gross. Another plus was I met with the head trainer Michael and he was very nice and friendly.

Staff was rude and spoke over me. Employee gave us wrong information on our membership and created a ruckus. Management never returned our request to speak to them. Website help said theyd escalate the matter and still no management call. We do not matter. Unimpressed.

The young male staff will not leave the women alone. They will constantly flirt with the young girls and people’s wives. To the point where it makes them uncomfortable to go here. It is borderline sexual harassment on some levels. I’m surprised there haven’t been more complaints. But anyone that is younger and goes here knows exactly what I am talking about. This is the first review I have ever left but I feel that something needed to be said.

At first I hated the set up but it grows on you.

Friendly staff and a versatile range of equipment. Though the do need to clean the equipment better. My hands look like Ive been working with coal after Ieave there.

I attend water aerobics classes at this facility. This pool is the cleanest and water the clearest of any pool I have ever been in in my life! I marvel at that every time I am in the pool and that makes my workout experience the best!

Great gym buuuutttt very packed year around. Would love to see them add a gym or upstairs. Not enough equipment for the amount of people it serves. Seems like the Golds offers more classes than most.

This is about the 4th time this year the person opening at 5am is late!!! You have ONE person responsible for opening with dozens of loyal people waiting outside?!? Its now 5:25 am, still no one here, we have LIMITED time in our lives and we make a commitment to be here. This is unacceptable management. PAY MONEY TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE PERSON OPENING YOUR MILLION DOLLAR FACILITY!!!!

Started at this gym and everyone has been really helpful. I started the 12 week challenge because a trainer encouraged me to saying it would be good for me. So far everything has been great here.

Im visiting, so dont have a membership. I did purchase a 1 day guest pass. However, the lady working the front desk was not very friendly. I asked a few questions about where things were located, her attitude seemed annoyed and she seemed rushed.Overall the facility is nice, clean, spacious, and offered lots of equipment. I couldnt find if they offered towels which I wish they did.I do come back to New Braunfels often and ill probably try another gym before coming back to Golds.

Everyone is nice during the signup phase (as expected). I was told i would get some 3d evaluation and then would get a personalized workout plan. It took a week for someone to get back to me (actually i ended up having to reach out) for my session. I arrived and met with a manager who asked about my goals, personal motivations, what life experiences led me to this point etc. This lasted about 15 minutes and included a sales pitch that I could get personal training for only ~$600 a month. hard pass. how about 2 sessions a week for ~ half of that?. nope. how about for ~$200 you could check in with a trainer weekly and get tweaks to your plan?. Not at this time. I wanted to get a feel for the place first. so we sat around awkwardly for a couple of moments and he asked any more questions?. Yes... how about that 3d scan? its broken. should be fixed in a week... anything else? yes... how about that personalized workout plan? At this point he pulls out a piece of paper and writes down the most generic plan i could have imagined and handed it to me. I could have printed this off of the internet myself. the reason i chose golds is because i wanted help. if i didnt need help I would just go to PF for $10 a month. So I waited for the call back when the machine was ready. I did get a call back asking if i wanted to add anyone to my account. I didnt. still nothing. its been 3 months and nothing. I decided to cancel as I was told at signup that i needed to do that in writing. I called and asked how to send the cancellation in writing ... you have to come in. so I go into the gym on the last day to cancel with my kid in tow who was home sick from school and asked for the form. The girl at the front couldnt give it to me. Only managers are allowed to touch the form and they were in a meeting. So their broken process became my problem. I stood and waited... and waited. I asked to just give me the form so I could fill it out and hand it to the manager when they were out of their meeting. That was impossible. No one is allowed to touch the form even though it sits just under the desk. when i finally spoke to a manager she sincerely apologized and offered to set me up with a personal training session which i had been promised 3 months earlier. No thanks. I didnt want to wait another 3 months just to be disappointed again. How about just a refund for the final month of my 3 month contract. Impossible. so I cancelled and was met with im sorry you had such a poor experience... me too. me. too.

Fact is on a scale of 1 to 10 the classes suck. Every class I have been too is like B and C team instructors, EXCEPT I found one good pump instructor Thursday evenings. I am from San Antonio, (the classes far exceed this gym) I come to work out with my home girls from time to time, if it wasnt for them I would not come to this gym or recommend it period. I have found the staff is RUDE The daycare is mediocre, if my son who is 2 starts to cry AT ALL they come get me to get him. I guess I would just say they could really up the game. Bring on some real instuctors and learn some customer service skills.

They have to get faster internet. Makes it almost impossible to consistently stream music.

The Gym manager Mike Patino Is the absolute best!! He has such positive and enthusiatic energy! I love running into him there because he always pushes me to do better and work harder to achieve my goals. Golds needs more people like him!

Worst gym ever. the deceive during the contract sign up and then stonewall you

***BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES & ZERO MORAL ETHICS****I was looking for a gym to join after discovering I would be moving to the New Braunfels area with my job. I felt like Gold’s Gym would be a perfect fit. I signed up and joined the $1 down and $99 per month for 3 months program. The same day I attended a 30 minute ab class while waiting to meet someone about an apartment.Five days later, I received a surprising word I would not be contracted out to the area for work and that I would remain in Kyle. I went to the gym to cancel my membership after learning such news. The front desk attendant informed me I was under contract and nothing could be done. I explained to him the situation and he spoke with the GM as well.He came back to tell me that if I attended at least 8 times, that I could possibly get my money back. I was shocked. I had not paid any money but the $1 to join and my first payment would not be due until after my first 30 days. I had not used the facility at all except the first day, the 30 minute abs class.I spoke to the GM who told me she “might” be able to get me out of contract if I could “prove” my new work location information and that it had to be a certain distance away from their facility, etc...I provided her the paperwork right then. She told me she would have to send it to their “internal department” for review, even though she is part owner or owner of the facility.After no response and messages left for her I called again on the 4th day. She told me I would be able to get out of contract but they would still draft my bank account for the $99 per their policy.Obviously, contracts are in place for a reason and I understand that, but not every circumstance is the same nor would I have ever joined if I knew such a thing would have happened.Everybody understands right from wrong, but the lengths that some people will go to for money are just downright shameful.

I have been going to this gym for a few months now and its, ok. The classes suck, the daycare is not all that great and the customer service from staff is awful! Taking my sister to workout today and they wouldnt allow her. Said she needed to get a membership. why give me free passes if I cant use them? The staff was rude with every question I asked. I asked for a manager and was told no, he was busy, and then was told he wasnt there. Just kept telling me no, and trying to force my sister to buy a membership. I will be taking my business elsewhere, where people actually care about fitness and health rather than money.

We recently moved to the area from out of state. Our personal experience with the mentioned staff has been a great experience. John at the front desk exhibits great customer service and makes a delish smoothie. By the way hes personal too. Great combination. Who would have known that Trey in sales makes a fantasic creamy smoothie. Ask for John or Trey to make you some delish smoothies. You wont be disappointed. By the way do not go to the Live Oak location. Dated gym and extremely dirty. Staff is definitely not friendly and the maintenance man takes matters into his own hands without checking with upper management. Not cool dude! You fix equipment. Not to say your job is not important. It is! You keep the equipment going. But the situation that arose was not your decision to make.

I love the water aerobics, I feel great after each class, the boxing instructor is awesome, he is doing the class so you get a great high intensity work out❤ absolutely love it. As a local Realtor, I need the exercise, and I get ready for work after the hottub or sauna after water aerobics.

Im still a member bc I need a gym near by, which makes it convenient. But yup the staff sucks, not all of them but a good few. I join for me not for them so if I do have a problem with any staff thats rude or unprofessional; Ill be dam well to make sure its KNOWN & wont happen again.

Dishonest and unethical. Once they have access to your bank account beware. Canceled membership and access to account so they take you collections? Nightmare to get then to fix their mistake!
