This is absolutely the worst trash service we have had. They are NEVER on time sometimes it’s a week later. When I call to speak with customer service I always get promised next day pick up and that not the truth. I added a picture bc this morning I left my trash out and they literally left 3 bags of trash in my front yard. Gosh I wish the would shut this company down bc I know people are getting rob by them I will be changing service when my cycle is up please please don’t waste your time

They are supposed to come every other week. It’s pretty much a coin toss whether they pick up or not. In the last 2 months they have missed 3 pick ups (4 if you count the “make up” pick up that they also missed!) I highly recommend you go with any other recycling service. We are looking elsewhere now.

DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS! They never miss charging you, but they frequently dont pick up your recycling,. Neighbors who have used them now just take their recycling to the local center, and I now see why!

The trash is picked up weekly as it should be. The recycling, on the other hand, has missed 3 pickups in a row. I have called twice and sat on hold for over 20 minutes each time, no answer. I have sent 2 emails. No response to the first and no recycling pickup either. I am waiting on the second response since I sent it earlier today, but I am not very hopeful. I wish that I had read these reviews for signing up for service. We have been a customer for 8 weeks and hired a new company today. Now I just look forward to the fun of trying to get in touch with someone to cancel our service…

While our service has been TERRIBLE (they have not picked up our trash for the last 2 weeks) the CSR that answered my call, Lamondri (sp) handled my frustration with excellent professionalism.I am still not pleased with the mentality that the route drivers can just decide what to do on their routes and there are no rules for them to follow. If Im paying for a service, I expect a partnership. I pay a bill, you provide a service. They do not wait for us to open our gate to give them access to the dumpster (Im talking less than 3 minutes on average). Our whse guys have to stop what they are doing and walk out toward the gate and use their gate button to open it.

I used GFL for over 18 months for my weekly trash pickup. The local pickup drivers did a good job. However, the new website, customer service, billing, and all things corporate are HORRIBLE! Will NEVER use this company again!The new website is NOT compatible with mobile devices per their admission in customer service email.Repeatedly lied to by their staff.Never authorized any automated payments and never used automated payments while using their “service” yet a month AFTER I terminated their pickup they drafted a quarterly payment directly from my checking account.Have spent many hours trying to get my money back. I even have an email from a customer service rep stating the draft was not authorized and that she has “expedited a refund check.” The email is dated 6/24/2021. It’s now 7/21/2021, and I was just told on the phone by another rep that no refund has been started and it will take 4-6 more weeks to get my money back.Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

We use them for recycling. Supposed to come twice a month and MOST months only come once. Website is useless. Staff is unresponsive. Tried calling many times and nothing. Drivers are wonderful. It’s corporate for me. Do not use this company.

Several voice-to-voice empty promises. They even went as far as to advise we should leave our bins outside after several consecutive no shows and repeatedly, now expectedly, despite the promises - still no service. A complete disaster of a company that cant manage the fundamentals. Worse, they are disrespectful liars. Its like they dont want to be in business. Regardless, were done. I will share our experience broadly because our hard working neighbors dont deserve to be treated this way.

Office is unresponsive and recycling constantly missed. Giving two stars since the Trash pick up is rather consistent in our area. Do NOT bother with their recycling service. They have missed the last 4 pickups which are every other week. When I call I cant get through to anyone so I leave a message and just leave my full recycling bin on the curb for days until it gets picked up. I have seen it picked up in white recycling truck and other times it is just picked up with one of their green trash trucks.

We gave them a chance but unfortunately all the negative reviews are true. Our entire street has trash bins sitting out since last week and nothing has been picked up. They dont return voice mails or respond to online suppot tickets. They phone is off the hook or you have to sit on hold for hours and might never get to them. If they ever answer the phone theyre nonchalant and say its marked as picked up and they wont be sending anyone to get the trash just leave a note to the supervisor. We have several neighborhoods in the area dealing with Gfl missing pick ups right now. We will be switching for sure.

ZERO STARS. I dont not recommend this company or there terrible services. Horrible customer service. The city was out doing maintenance on a drainage ditch in front of my house and rather than stopping for less than 45 Seconds and dumping the two containers I pay for, they drove right by. Called three times and all three times were told they would be out the next day. Never came. Called management. Had to leave a message. Never returned my call. Raccoons got into the trash nightly and spread it everywhere because it was over flowing. They picked up the trash today, a week later and left all the trash all over the ground.

GFL Environmental is NEVER responsive or professional! They missed our trash three times in a few months. Every time they failed to do their job, we have to spend hours calling them trying to get hold of someone. NOBODY was ever answering the calls or returning the messages. How hard could it be to pick up all the trash?! This happened again this Tuesday August 31, 2021! We emailed, called, left messages. NO RESPONSES YET!! The trash still has NOT been collected. 0 stars!! This company is awful!! They have not picked up our trash in 3 weeks!! We call and are told they are in route, but never show up. We are told we are put on a missed route pick up, but never show. We try to get a manager, but voicemail after voicemail. The trash smells so bad, so many flies and magets we don’t know what else to do. We only chose GFL because they offer recycling, but it is not worth it.

My garbage removal went from under $40 a quarter to almost $80 a quarter. I found someone cheaper.I called and cancelled. I ask when the garbage can would be picked up. Two weeks later it is till sitting in the front yard. Everytime I call, they say next day, next day. They have no credibility. They keep telling me it is a priority to pick up the can but they are just giving me lip service. One customer service rep said that they were told to say that. It has been 2 months since GFL has picked up my recycling. I have called several times and never get a straight answer as to why they miss my house. They lie and tell me that my recycling will be picked up the following day since it was missed. Ive waited until the following scheduled pick-up day as well and they still dont show up. I am canceling my service and demanding a refund for the quarter I have pre-paid.

We have used them for almost a year now, and for the last 2 months they have not picked up our trash on time at all. We are on the phone with customer service, who are generally very nice, at least twice a week because they never pick up our trash and half the time the missed trash pickup won’t come either. There’s no explanation as to why they won’t pick it up. If you’re looking for a trash service who actually picks up your trash, GFL isn’t it.

Trash was to be picked up on Wednesday 12/2/2020, its Friday 12/4/2020 and our trash and the neighbors trash are still not picked up after weve called to report it.Thats how it is when you pay a 1 star service company to serve your community

I am a new customer. My recycling is supposed to be picked up on Wednesday. Can was out, but not picked up Wednesday, June 16th. I called Thursday to verify I had the correct day. They verified it was supposed to be picked up on the 16th. They said they would add me to the missed pickup list and pick it up on Friday morning. I called at noon on Friday and let them know it had not been picked up. They said it would be picked up on Friday. 8pm - not picked up.Check out the reviews of this company. We pay for recycling every other week however, for months, have only been receiving a pick up once per month. When you call (and actually get in touch with someone), they only offer a credit, not to come and do the job you have paid for. Also, if you dont call quickly to let them know the pick up was missed, they later tell you a credit cant be issued even though they didnt provide the service that was paid for. I dont know of another company that makes you pay for something you dont receive. Save yourself the frustration and choose another company for your trash and recycling service.

We have GFL as our garbage disposal in the Smyrna/LaVergne area and they told us on three separate occasions that they will be by to pick up our trash and three times they never did. Our trash has been sitting out going on a week and still no service. I have seen other trash companies come out for our neighbors to remove branches etc on none pickup days but GFL is literally a trash company both is service and personnel.

Paid for initiation of service in early April, I was told we would have a bin that week. Still no bin, but that isnt the real problem. They tell me every time I call that they will have a bin sent out that day, which has been told to me on 5 separate occasions so far. Still no bin. So this company will consistently lie to the customer. Theyve also told me that they are refunding the first month but have yet to do that, so they can neither execute a dropoff or a refund. Based on the pattern of consistently stringing the customer along and the inability to execute basic operations functions, I would strongly advise against doing business with this company.

Terrible service! This place is very unreliable. Most of the time they do not show up to pick up your trash. Recyclables are even worse, which I didn’t think was possible. Sometimes they pick up part of the trash in our neighborhood but then skip a lot of other roads. If possible I’d give them a zero stars. Stay away from GFL!

Absolutely terrible. Zero stars!!!!!! They have not picked up recycling for nearly two months. Office staff is nice, but untruthful. On Wednesday they say they will send someone out on Thursday no one shows up. Then called on Friday and said they have someone picking up that day. Nothing. Unfortunate you cannot leave a review of less than 1 star. They really are not worth the time to type this but I am doing it as a public service. Recycling pickup was often missed or picked up days after schedule. I have even seen them throw it in with the garbage. Reaching them for customer service is impossible. They are expensive and keep increasing prices. Finally gave up on them and cancelled service. Should have done it years ago and am ashamed of being so lazy... Steer clear.

I requested service at the beginning of April. I was told my can would be delivered on April 12th and as of today, May 4th I still don’t have one. I have called once a week and keep being told that I’m scheduled for delivery the next day, or that my can is on the truck. Obvious lies. I called today to cancel services and get a full refund (they charged me over $100.00 for half of April, a can delivery fee and the rest of the quarter). I’ve been told that I have to wait 3 weeks for a check to be mailed to me.

Unprofessional and certainly not customer oriented. I am a facilities director for a local hospital and the service, when they actually showed up, was abysmal. Left trash all over and never shut the gate in the enclosure. We went eleven days without service at one point. My sales rep never tried to make things right nor acknowledge any issues. I have used Waste Industries/GFL now for 6 months and they have picked up my recycling on time only 2-3 times. Every pickup I have to call customer service, schedule a missed pickup, and wait 3-5 days for my recycling to finally be picked up. Every time I call I ask customer service what is going on. They say they don’t know and keep marking my account to stop the missed pickup issue. It hasn’t worked yet. It is comical this company can make any money. Please read all of these negative reviews. This place is awful. I’m not prone to writing reviews, but I am writing one now out of pure frustration. They rarely pick up trash and recycling on time. I’ve had to call for missed pick ups more times than I count. Currently they are a week and a half over due on picking up my recycling. The only reason I chose this company was for the biweekly recycling option, but it’s hardly worth it if they can’t pick it up on time. Customer service is seriously lacking. When I call they just reschedule the pick up and say that’s all they can do. Why are there so many missed pick ups in the first place? No explanations given. I would seriously reconsider if you’re thinking of signing up for their trash/recycling pick up services.

My trash at my house has not been picked up in over a month despite my complaints to Metro Public Works 7 times over the past 4 weeks. MPW even has it recorded that Waste Industries did an emergency pick up two weeks ago, but this is false. I dont understand why it has been so difficult to get in touch with someone who knows what is going on or who can help. They said they would do an emergency pick up today, but they have lied about this before, so Im not hopeful.

I signed up for residential service the last week of December. By the first week of February I had four missed pick ups. I’ve called each time to report it and each time I was told they could not come to pick up until that Monday. I had trash sitting for days unless I took it to the dump myself. They never had a reason for the missed pick ups. They looked up the route and the driver and checked his gps and still never resolved the issue. Third week of February was the fifth missed pick up and that it when I canceled service. They offered me a $10 credit which I never received.

Terrible customer service. They can’t do their job right. Experienced moments where they wouldn’t pick up our trash and our service was paid for! This happened more than twice. Some of the workers are rude when you call. This week our lid got broken by one of the workers while they picked up the trash. My question is where is our replacement trash can?!?! At least be responsible and fix the problem this isn’t free service! Will be switching to one that is a lot cheaper and better service! Our friend uses them and we are happy to switch very soon.

The usual Monday trash pick up did not occur, so I called customer service. They informed me the trash would be collected on Tuesday. No trash pickup on Tuesday so I called again and was told they would definitely be out to pick up trash on Wednesday. The past few years have been great but a month or two ago the collector changed and this guy habitually leaves the lid open and my can fills with rainwater. I tolerated their incompetency two years too long. As others mentioned, while garbage pick up is generally okay, recycling took months and many phones to get straight. Straw that broke camels back was this week when I requested a replacement garbage bin because the original one was destroyed by the pick up crew--split open on one side and wheel busted off. On Monday they said Wednesday it would be replaced. Knowing from past experience how their word means nothing, I called first thing Wednesday morning to confirm the swap out because trash was piling up. I was assured it was on schedule to happen. By 3PM I had my doubts and called again. And again I was assured it was in progress and told they had until 6PM to get it done. 6PM rolls around and guess what? Broken bin is still on the curb and I now have three bags of trash piled up. Yet again, broken promises, failure, incompetency. Im dumping them first thing in the morning.

Do not use them! I switched to another company 2 mos. ago. Same situation as previous poster....they wont pick up can. I have left it outside as they indicated,called multiple times, asked for manager (never available or called me back)My whole neighborhood has ditched this company practically. They leave cans across driveway, and they are more expensive than anyone else

On a regular weekly pickup, I watched the Waste Industries crew empty the one container that I normally have curbside plus a second full container I had this week and some miscellaneous debris. I meant to call ahead and request this extra service but didnt. It was so nice to see WI pick up everything. So I called the offices to thank the crew and Veronica was pleasant and professional. I sincerely appreciate the job they do.

This is the first time I’ve reviewed any company online, and I’m compelled to do it, because Waste Industries is a dumpster fire of a company. WI is very sketchy and poorly managed, avoid at all costs.When we signed on, recycling was scheduled every week. Three months into service, we got a mass-sent letter saying that recycling was going to be reduced to an every 2 weeks schedule “for the environment.” What really makes that suck is that we’re still charged the same amount for half the service, but for an extra fee, they wrote, we could get another recycling bin. Over the past couple of months, they’ve been even more unreliable with picking up recycling. This morning is the second pick up they’ve missed in a row.Their website is very sparse, and don’t have listed rules for what kind of trash they pick up. Which is a shame, because they are extremely picky about the garbage they’ll accept. Your trash will either get left in the can without explanation or dumped on your lawn (not even kidding). I could understand forgoing biomedical waste, or containers of caustic or volatile chemicals. They didn’t pick up a single sealed plastic filled with particle board broken down into small pieces, “because that’s technically construction material, and we don’t accept that.”Ask yourself: Do I really want to kickstart every week calling my garbage collectors to convince them to pick up the household waste I paid them to pick up? If the answer is no, look literally anywhere else.

Waste Industries took over my service from a company that went out of business. They were mistakenly charging me for 2 containers and they refused to make it right. They would not even do one month compensation for a mistake that they made. I am sure they do this to other people as well. This is very bad business and I would not recommend them to anybody. I plan on hiring a lawyer to see what rights I have. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Plus they do not pick up your trash as scheduled.

We have lived in Nashville TN for a year now. Waste Industries has missed our recycle bins 14 times and regular trash 6 separate times. So they have missed pickups for us 20 times this past year.

Weve recently had problems with Waste Industries. This issue led me to take a look at their reviews. Now, I know that the problem were experiencing with them is an ongoing one. In error, they took our trashcan. Which they admitted once contacted. We were informed that it would take 4 to 5 business days to replace it. They were advised that a wait of 4 to 5 business days was unacceptable. What were we going to do with the trash, keep it in the house? Keep in mind that it was their error, therefore, their responsibility to correct it. This company claims to take pride in its customer service. The person that I spoke with said her supervisor would give me a call back. No call back, and no garbage can. They took it Tuesday morning, and its now Friday afternoon. That means that we wont have a garbage can until Monday, and thats if were lucky.

It is not okay to take money and deliver NO service. Not sure what the excuses can be at this point. The latest is 2 weeks in a row of no service for us...this doesnt count the many weeks last year where we received no service. We like to believe mistakes are made but at this point, it is just fraud.

Like many other reviewers have said, its impossible to get in touch with anyone when you have an issue and our recycling hasnt been picked up in a month. Its incredibly frustrating.
