I saw Emily for my appointment. Honestly, it was the strangest appointment I have ever been to. I was the only person in the salon with her. She seemed totally uninterested in being there, which made me extremely uncomfortable. She washed my hair for like two seconds, blew it kinda dry, and sent me on my way. I got home and my hair was longer on one side and just honestly not a great cut. I called to get it fixed and they told me I couldn’t see anyone else. I spoke to a manager and they never offered me my money back. Super weird place. Would never go back.

I had an appt for a cut and color. 4 hours later and $150.00, I walked out with no difference to my hair. I asked for a short cut and blond color. The color is the same as I walked in with and the stylist didn’t have time to cut my hair and requested that I come back to get it cut. She had a guys haircut coming in and couldn’t finish mine. Highly disappointed. Will be calling the manager tomorrow.

Have really enjoyed my experiences at Local Honey with Rachel Maley. She is extremely kind and has a great memory for what I like in a haircut, even when theres a large amount of time between cuts.The salon has really solid covid protocols in place that they follow with fidelity. Everyone is well masked and consistent, and they have you call to check in with screening questions before you even come in.

Got my hair cut by Sydney here yesterday and it was a great experience! I came in with an idea of what I wanted, but no concrete plan, and she really talked me through the process and helped me decide on a good cut for my hair and face shape. I ended up going shoulder length, which is a big change for me, but the results could not have been better! It looks so natural and was exactly what I wanted. It is a more expensive haircut, but you get what you pay for and I knew an estimate of what it would cost going in. Still, 10/10.

I had been to Local Honey at Belmont once before and did not have a problem, so this is just about my second experience here. I know that sometimes things happen and vary, but for the price of the services I felt none of it was worth it.I came to the 8th ave location to get a womans haircut and a balayage. I knew it would be a pretty penny, and I wasnt overly concerned about cost. When I got my hair done before I remember it being around $200 total with tip, so I expected something around there.When I scheduled it, it was for 12pm-3:30pm. Again, fully knowing those services take time. I also came in with totally virgin, grown-out hair and needed no kind of extra color correcting.The lady who did my hair was so nice and kind. But, it ended up taking 5 and a half hours. She didnt have time to fully blow dry or style my hair at the end, and I was late for my night class because I thought there was absolutely no way it would take THAT long. My hair looks OK, color and cut is fine, but it feels very dead and damaged and wonder if there was an extra step that had been looked over. Ive definitely had my hair colored before growing out, and comparatively its never felt this dry.I had thought about letting them know or calling, but their website says that if you arent satisfied then it has to be the same stylist who fixes it, and quite frankly I just dont wanna go back and go through that... even for the price point. I ended up paying $350 with tip and Id give my hair like a 4/10 especially sense its so damaged.I would highly suggest just going anywhere else. Harper and Olive is about 10 mins from Local Honey Belmont and they do just as good for a way lower price.

In February, I had a terrific appointment with a stylist, and I booked a second appointment for April. Obviously, the April appointment didnt occur. When Nashville began reopening, Local Honey’s socials stated all appointments cancelled due to COVID would be rescheduled before the books were open to the public. I never received a phone call to reschedule, so I had to take the initiative to reach out to the salon. By the time I did, my stylist did not have availability until July. I believe I was justified in being frustrated I was never contacted, before OR after the books opened to the public. The appointment manager told me that some stylists chose to handle rebooking calls on their own, and that as a result, they may have been personally responsible for the oversight. That accusation didn’t sit well with me, because I hadnt gotten the impression my stylist would blatantly drop the ball like that. That comment aside, the appointment manager acted sympathetic and offered to reach out to my stylist to see if it would be possible to work me in any earlier. It has came to light that that the person I spoke to made a note on my account that I “DEMANDED the stylist rectify the situation,” even though they were the ones who OFFERED to try to get me an earlier appointment. I ended up making an appointment for July, but I ultimately canceled it shortly thereafter. Like most people, I was desperate to feel better and regain some sense of normalcy, so I found a stylist (who also offered extensions, which I had been planning to get anyway) with earlier openings.To give this situation some context, my stylist was recommended to me by a very dear friend. That friend recommended that I explain what had happened directly to the stylist, because it seemed out of character for them. I reached out to my stylist via DM back in October, and they chose to ignore my message. Flash forward to this evening. I called the salon to see if the stylist was still on staff, and I vaguely and briefly mentioned that there had been some frustration trying to get back on the books after quarantine. I was in no way rude or pushy about it. The appointment manager again acted understanding. I did inquire about cancellations, but I also asked if I should just go ahead and book the first available appointment (in addition to being put on a cancellation list). They discouraged me from scheduling anything, under the guise that they wanted to reach out to my stylist about the situation. [I have reason to believe that it was because they reviewed the unfavorable notes on my account.] Not 10 minutes after my exchange with the salon, I received a DM (two months later, mind you) from my stylist, who proceeded to call my character into question and side with the salon. The stylist admitted that I had probably fallen through the cracks when rescheduling occurred, but offered no apology, and instead praised the salon for all of their hard work. The stylist went on to say that because the notes on my account indicated I was being irrational and “taking my business elsewhere” (i.e., where I could get an earlier appointment post-quarantine AND get the extensions I told them I was going to get at some point) that the best course of action for me was to find another stylist. It is unbelievable to me that someone who I was willing to pay hundreds of dollars per visit would literally deem me unworthy of being their client based on a conversation they were not part of. I’m ashamed of myself for very mistakenly and very stupidly thinking the stylist had good character and wouldn’t have let me slip through the cracks if they were overseeing things, when, in fact, they just didn’t think I was worthy of their services.I dont appreciate my character being called into question by people who dont know me, especially in difficult times when we should be giving each other grace and kindness. I also dont appreciate being made to feel I am unworthy to be someone’s client, especially when I was nothing but kind to them. I have never felt more unwelcome, slighted or demeaned.

Be aware of possible COVID contamination:Tried to reschedule an appointment first thing in the morning (well over 8 hours in advance) after coming in contact with individuals the previous night who tested positive for COVID. Was told by the manager they would not reschedule and would continue to charge the $25 cancellation fee. It seems that they would rather put their customers/staff in harms way than actually look out for their safety. Asked for a district manager and all they provided me was the generic email address. In an attempt to be responsible and not potentially spread something harmful, local honey’s interest is for capital, not safety. Will not be back again.

Great place to get a haircut. Its my regular spot currently. Pretty busy so you need to make appointments but you can set up a schedule which is what I do. They will call and text you the day before which is very helpful.

I highly recommend seeing Rachel Jordan for all your cut and color needs. I have been seeing her for years and she’s always done an amazing job! The local honey salon is bright, modern, and clean. Lovely place.

Worst haircut experience of my life. Im in tears right now. Leah did not listen to anything I asked for and hacked and shaved my shoulder length hair into a hideous lopsided pageboy cut. Management offered me an appointment to fix it for free the next day, but because I was late due to traffic, they refused to cut it and would not refund my money. The stylists told me to leave and drive all the way back up here tomorrow to talk to a manager if Im unhappy. Horrendous customer service, horrendous experience, DO NOT GO HERE.

Was a cool vibe as Brave. The new setup is just like any other place trying to be hip. Brave was special and made me switch from going places that are just like Local Honey. I loved Dori, but I had to go somewhere that isnt so female - centric. Local Honey is trying too hard.

I had a terrible experience. A receptionist told me I could go ahead and cancel an appointment and she would make sure I was not charged a no show fee. This was after a long discussion about how if the stylist wants to charge you half the cost for a missed appointment it was up to the stylist.Im not putting free money into anyones pocket (especially since that stylist was clearly not very popular since her schedule was wide open the day before I booked).I wrote down the receptionists name since Ive typically gone to much more upscale salons all my life and any Manager with some semblance of customer service skills wont steal your money.Not at Local Honey.The manager listened to me and the receptionist (who confirmed what she said to me, that there would be no charge!) and still charged me for a no show!!! A no show that once again, only occurred because the receptionist said to go ahead and not show up.What a joke.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. Emily cuts me and my girlfriend’s hair and she is thoughtful, skilled, and a really good listener for those chatty in the seat. I like that the place is simple and the reception staff every time has been incredibly nice. Every time.

My son and I went here and got one of the best haircuts ever. Sidney was a magician with her hands. She was so attentive and sensitive to our needs, giving my son, who felt anxious, time and space to relax, and giving me an amazing head massage and wash after she found out I had a terrible migraine. I was in heaven. We both felt welcomed and understood and she gave us exactly what we asked for and more. Im sure all the stylist there are fantastic, so you cant go wrong with any of them. Pricing is a bit expensive, but not too bad, and trust me, its worth every penny.

Go see Melody. She is very detailed with her work, shell never let you leave without an amazing haircut. I will follow her to the Moon to get my hair done. The salon was recently remodeled but, it still looks like a work in progress. I go for the haircut, not a pretty bathroom.

Caroline does me up once a month, and she does *the best job* any stylist ever has with my large, funky ass weirdly shaped head.They offer walk-ins (but you can call ahead to get put on the list if youre smart). Like any place where you would do a walk-in, be ready to explain exactly what you want. They stylists will do your bidding to a T.

I had the pleasure of having my hair cut and styled by one of Braves super talented stylists, Nash! She did such an amazing job, this is honestly the best haircut Ive had in a long time! The salon had really relaxed and comfortable vibes and Nash was very welcoming and personable too, overall the whole experience was awesome! I will definitely be back and if youre needing a new do or just some touch ups this is the place to go, see Nash the girl rocks!

Best barbershop Ive been to, Id recommend everyone at least try them out. The atmosphere and vibes are always upbeat, and all the barbers there are top notch. My Stylist Melody moved here and so I followed because she does great hair. It’s a cute salon. Not huge and crazy, but also not pretentious like a lot of salons can be. Melody Aalgaard does all my color and cuts and has taken me from blonde to red and I trust her completely.

Even though they changed the aesthetics its still just as chill. Dori is my go to and she takes care of me, she makes me feel like a friend rather than just another body in her chair. Parking can be tricky, there is a gravel lot to the side that faces Zanies and there is a pay parking lot across the street and street parking. Theres a light with crosswalk.

I Had a real bad experience.I was very specific about what i need and requested to use scissors and shearing scissors . But the Barber Anthony argued and convinced me that he will use elecric clippers and he will do a good job.I was very specific i like to maintain length and just need some volume removed and may be just have an inch in the front.While cutting the hair he turned the chair opposite from the mirror and went with his clippers vroom.When i requested to use scissors initially he said he wont because it would take too long if he users.Also he promised he would do a good job but instead of saying no and walking out of the barber shop i complied and let him ruin my hair.If you go to the barbershop avoid this guy if you like your hair in a specific style or like to wear it long.I really wish i walked out.Even when we started the haircut i told him please keep the hair long i prefer length and take a cut 2-3 weeks or if it is not good i can for another hair cut .But clippers and vroom and i have ended up with a weird mushroom cut.

Updated review!The appointment began 30 minutes late. Rachel abused my head for 4 hours. Every movement was rough, aggressive, and painful: dramatically pushing each foil down onto my head followed by a bizarre slap, fiercely scrubbing my scalp like it was an old-timey washboard, repeatedly scraping the comb down my scalp and ears, knocking me in the head with the hair dryer, and ignoring me each time I asked her to be more gentle.I asked for a long collarbone-length bob and she cut it to chin-length, all the while claiming that the cape made it look shorter than it was. Sure, Jan. And she did a very sloppy job-- it was completely uneven in the front and the angling in the back was SEVERE, despite our earlier agreement of subtle layers.After 4 hours of pain at a salon full of the kind of people @musicsh*tty makes fun of, I just wanted to get out. I couldnt listen to anymore vocal fry, and I had a feeling they wouldnt respond well to negative feedback (since they dont even respond to reviews).I will say that the highlights came out fine, but my scalp and neck still ached for a week.Ive spent the better part of a year trying to return my hair to its normal state.Lastly, their motto, YOU ARE OK, is stupid.
