Took the day off of work to get some important yard work done. Called the day before to reserve a sod cutter. When I went to pick it up, they were very friendly and showed me how it worked and helped me put it into the truck. Once we got it home, it wasn’t working right. After further inspection, we could see there was a missing bolt and the belt was chewed up. Wasted over an hour trying to get it to work, then had to muscle it back into the truck. Back at the store, they realized it wasn’t supposed to be rented out because it needed repair!!! Didn’t try to make it right by giving us options to make up for the lost time and inconvenience. Frustrating, because now I don’t have time to find another sod cutter at a different store. Completely wasted my day off because they didn’t keep their records straight. Will not be giving them my business again.

Called to check on availability for a friend and was given a return call by Gabriel who was extremely snide and rude in tone, telling me that they dont rent to me.In all fairness if a peice of equipment does not work well its only right to tell the owner. And when a lift strands you in the air at full extention without means to get down it becomes a safety concern. So when I called I was blamed for a safety sensor malfunction of which a week later the same thing happened with another 2 hours on the machine. Therefore telling me that they do not maintain equipment. I also learned from a different rental company that they had been sending man lifts out with cut marks in the railing which happens to be an OSHA violation on the renters part.Safety may be a priority from a spoken standpoint but when it comes down to the actual maintenance of the equipment but the actual reality is that it doesnt get done. There is also a gentleman who can no longer have children as a result of teeth and the bolts holding teeth flying off the stumper when they are not changed each time it comes back in. As per direction from the plant that manufactured the stumper.As for the lift it ended up having an outrigger failure and almost killed someone as a result and then only a partial refund was given. Way to go guys you ripped off someone who was on leave from the air force.

I rented a dump trailer. I thought I would need it for 4 hours. I ended up completing my project early. I returned the trailer in less then 2 hours. I thought I would get billed for the 2 hour rate. I was told they dont refund the difference. Run away and rent at another rental company. Totally not a trust worth company.

Horrible experience, went in waited around for 15 mins no one helped me out, meanwhile 2 other customers that showed up after me got taken care of first. Won’t ever try to do business here again.

Now, this was not my best experience, but the employees made sure my sh**y day wasnt horrible.Rented a compressor, hose, and an impact gun (asked for 3/4, got a 1/2) for 2 hours. Drove home, compressor leaked but when I drove back to their shop (1/2 hour into my 2 hour rental) it didnt leak. Returned the impact since it wasnt rated for the torque I needed, and bought an overkill 1 from harbor freight. (Figured 1 HF impact might equal a better brand 3/4 impact.) By now my 2 hours are almost up, so I drove to Tates to have them re-mcgyver their hose adapters to fit this bigger gun. Needed a fitting they didnt have so I went to a hardware store and bought the right fitting, by then I was over my 2 hour rental, only ran it for 5 minutes total, and i was pretty fed up with my day. After explaining everything to the manager, he printed out a new contract, which I was expecting to be for the 4 hour rental, and said Sorry youre having a bad day, here you go. Contact had the total of $0.00. Said once I have all the fittings, come back and rent it for 2 hours. I will be coming back to these guys. They definitely saved my bacon from the Mrs.

Love this place. Great staff. Great tools and fair prices. Theyve always got what I need and they make sure I know how to run the equipment if Im unsure. Very professional!

I rent a machine a few times a week from this location. The entire staff is very knowledgeable with the equipment is impressive. Very courteous, quick, and efficient!!! I will never go to any other rental place than Tates!!!

Picked up the auger on Wednesday around one. I called a couple of hours later to complain that the ground was apparently too tough for the machine to drill. I asked if there was any way for me to return the auger at no charge or at least a discounted rate considering I had the auger for less than 4 hours. After I stated that I was in Payette, the associate told me that there was no way for me to get back to the store by closing. This was at 4 and they closed at 5. I couldve made it there not long after 5. He was obviously not willing to wait around for me. I delivered the auger that Friday at 9 a.m. and paid them $87. I have no desire to do business with a company that clearly doesnt care if I am a repeat customer. This is my first and last time dealing with Tates Rents.The second star is only because in all fairness, had the machine actually worked, it was a fair price for the rental.
