One of the best equipped gyms I’ve ever been in, and I’ve been in a lot. It’s an especially good value for the cost. The only complaint I have, which is not unique to this gym, is the number of members who sit around reading their phones, keeping machines and equipment occupied.

First and foremost, your staff at Van Winkle were wonderful and helpful. They are the one redeeming quality that has earned this review anything more than a one star.Every other shortcoming of VASA comes from your poor commitment to the customer. There were several broken machines which hindered my workout. Yall need to figure out a system where guests can report faulty equipment and expect the company to fix it in a timely manner.Your commitment to fees and a bogus rate guarantee fee (on top of an annual fee) shows us that you value something else above your customers.VASA Fitness isnt on the side of the consumer.EDIT:I emailed my suggestions to VASA, with pretty clear reasons they should change their billing model and hidden fees. They responded with a template email not addressing any of the points or concerns. Another clear example of how VASA Fitness does not listen to the consumer.

Awesome cardio, fat burn, and weight lifting classes. Nice staff and quick to fix and adjust anything that’s not working! There’s always space and equipment. And it’s kept in good condition.

So vasa is great Maddy the fitness instructor is amazing. They do charge a pretty Penney allot of the bikes/stair climbers are broken. And most specifically the machine that dries swimsuits is broken seems they refuse to fix???? There is even a huge sign another member wrote “FIX THIS” and I have been there 3 weeks still not fixed???? What’s the charge for up keep then?????????

Love this gym, Ive been going to Vasa from the beginning of time. There were some issues in the past such as general cleanliness and too many out of order machines but for at least the past year or more they have been great. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Vasa has everything youll need from a gym. Their team seems alright but I dont usually chat with them. Id give them a 4 but they have somewhat hidden fees that are annoying and their Sunday hours are short. The mens bathroom is terrible which is pretty standard for gyms. The locker room is decent with plenty of room They go through phases where machines breakdown and it takes them some time to fix them.

I love vasa so very much, I have never been more proud of a membership I got! Its a fantastic environment, the staff are super helpful, kind and knowledgeable. Their personal trainers really know what their doing and are wonderful at helping tailor the best fitness plan for you. Their class instructors are absolutely first class, their energy is magnetic and they really take the time to help and modify when needed. The pool is the perfect temp, and The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are very helpful for soothing my injuries !

My fiance and I workout at VASA all the time!And weve always gone to whichever location is closest to where were at.On 7/24 we went into this VASA and we scanned our barcodes as usual.The front desk lady proceeded to tell my fiance that he only has a basic membership and is only allowed to workout at his home gym because of that.I proceeded to tell her that weve been going to different VASAs for quite some time now and have not once been stopped because he actually has the Fitness Membership as hes been paying that amount for years.A lot of employees wont stop people if they see they have a BASIC membership but I stop EVERYONE was the rude reply from the front desk lady.Needless to say we walked out quickly. And after checking his membership records again, it was made very clear that he is indeed paying for the membership that allows him to use any VASA location.So maybe that lady should work on not being so rude to the guests who have been paying for a membership for much longer than shes probably been working at the gym.Also...the bathrooms were out of order that day. Not their fault, but honestly, it was just a very bad experience in terms of customer service.

I had a bad experience here several years ago and never wanted to return. The pool and women’s room were filthy. My friend wanted to work out and swim at this location recently and I was very hesitant. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful!

Customer service doesn’t exist. Listening to a 90 year old with Alzheimer’s explain how to play bingo would be just as useful as talking with the staff that answers phones here. Completely incapable of having a conversation that lasts more than 4 seconds.

I was burglarized here. Someone cut my lock off my locker and stole everything. If you go here, take nothing with you.When reporting it they said it was unusual. The Murray PD officer said it happens frequently.Cost me 80 hours of work to replace stuff on my wallet, and over a thousand dollars to renew house, reprogram vehicle and replace various items.

I was riding one of the exercycles and my bo jumped from 117 to 144 i immediately stopped. This was good. At that time I didnt have enough oxygen in my blood. It is good to have those monitors on the exercycle machines.

Way too crowded during a pandemic. No one was wearing a mask, at the entrance, in the bathrooms, when they werent actively exercising. Including employees. Not enough sanitation stations, and the wipes were too dry to wipe anything down. No social distancing at all. None of the pandemic guidelines were enforced whatsoever. Time and money wasted, go to a smaller gym with stricter rules.

This is my home gym and Ive seen it change hands several times over many years. Vasa at first didnt seem to know what they were, no clear identity. For some time they prioritized fitness over working out, and those of us who have been gym rats for years felt left out. I hadnt been in a while because of covid, but Im very pleased with some of the equipment upgrades. Theyre comfortable now as a fitness gym that doesnt neglect those who just want to work out and like using free weights, quality cable setups, and mostly functional machines. Some of the machines are worthless with lousy mechanics. If they would study functional anatomy as much as marketing there would be about a dozen machines replaced.

Clean gym respectful staff - sorry I have to amend this one. Lately the volume in the gym is so loud that even with my headphone volume maxed I can barely hear what I want to listen to. I asked the front desk and they basically told me they have no control over the volume. Im very disappointed - music is very important to me while Im working out and the volume is not only distracting but actually kind of painful. Invest in some noise cancelling headphones.

I go during the day and everyone during the day is super helpful and great at communicating. I’ve noticed them stepping up on their cleaning which is a huge deal. Overall it’s nice to see a welcoming front desk that never fails to greet me and even take the time to say bye. With it being the biggest location in Utah I can understand why some of the maintenance does take a while because the place is MASSIVE so they do what they can and you can only appreciate the work they put in during they day from what I’ve seen!

I have been a member since VASA bought this location from Golds. I love this huge facility. However I have noticed lately that the facility is not kept up like it was when VASA took over. My complaints: Locker room is constantly dirty, doors have been ripped off their hinges and left that way. The place is rarely mopped, same goes for the shower stalls. The extractor (spinner) was always breaking down---now it has been taken out. I hate putting a soaking wet swim suit in my bag. There is a hose all in a tangle sitting on the floor of the shower room, for no apparent reason other than staff are not paying attention. Management here should wake up and pay attention.

BEWARE OF SCAMS - READ THE FINE PRINTTo preface, Im not someone who ever writes reviews, especially bad ones. My experiences working with vasa fitness were awful.Vasa fitness works with a sketchy third party billing system called Paramount Acceptance - Upon signing up for a membership, the payment did not go through due to an entry typo by the person setting up my account. As a result, the initial payment, as well as the first months payment did not go through. Instead of deactivating my pass until the issue was resolved like any normal service, I was charged a $45 delinquency fee. It is worth mentioning that I never went to vasa fitness during this time, I had never even picked up my pass. I tried to reach out to their customer service department, and nobody answered for 3-4 days. Finally a rushed, grouchy man on the other end chewed me out about how I shouldve read the 4 pages of terms and conditions that they gave me upon signing up. As if that wasnt enough, there was not only a 1 month notice cancellation fee, but also a 53$ guaranteed rate fee whatever that means. I was charged for all of these, having never used Vasa fitnesses services. The whole thing is a scam, and whichever clown is in charge should be locked up. Find a different local or community gym to go to.

I used to think very highly of this gym. They recently started making guests fill out their personal info and sign a waver every time they come in so that they can basically harass my guests into getting their own membership while they fill it out. I already pay extra for guest privileges, but clearly thats not good enough for Vasa. If they want more money, then that just proves that theyre like ever other corporation thats focused on stealing your money at every opportunity. Instead of UPLIFT being their motto, it seems more like it is UPCHARGE. I will soon be cancelling my guest privileges. If they dont make changes, I will end up cancelling my membership as well and rejoin Planet Fitness. At least at Planet, they treat customers AND guests with respect.UPDATE: it has now been about a month and not only are they continuing to harass my guests, but they also blatantly lied to me about making a change to their requirements and then basically dismissed the issue. Not only are they rude to guests, but they are also not above lying to their paying customers.

The gym weight scale has been out of service for over two weeks. I spoke with the manager and she said the parts wont be delivered till Dec 28th. So the only scale available to members will be out of service for over 3 weeks. I understand that its hard to get parts due to the pandemic but I can order a 400lb scale on amazon with a 5 star review for 20$ and have it delivered tomorrow. Members could use the cheap scale until the parts show up. It just goes to show how much the company/employees actually care for fitness and their daily community of members.

Shady business practices when trying to cancel your membership. They charge you one extra month when you cancel, plus the real issue, I had my and my wifes membership on my account. I tried to cancel my account back in October, but they only cancelled one account, not both. So it went on for 6 more months (yea my fault for not paying close enough attention to my CC), and they wont refund any of it. Shady!!

My car keys were stolen out of the locker room and then the parking lot. It’s been over two weeks since the vehicle was stolen and Vasa refuses to cooperate with law enforcement and give them camera footage. I believe the only reason they would do that is because it was an employee that committed the grand thief auto. Horrible experience. I would never recommend to anyone and hope they close down. DO NOT sign up for a membership here unless you plan on having a membership forever! Vasa fitness and their 3rd party billing (Paramount Acceptance) make it impossible to cancel your membership! I initially tried calling in December 2019 to cancel my account and was told over the phone that it was being cancelled. Fast forward to March: I realized my account was still being charged. I emailed customer support, where again, I was told that my account was being cancelled (I still have email proof of this). In March, covid happened and Vasa closed its locations and temporarily stopped charging clients. This is why I assumed my account was cancelled (my card was not being charged). Fast forward to June: my card is charged again. I email customer support because I wanted email proof of communication. No answer. I then did my own research and found that Vasa goes through a 3rd party billing system called Paramount acceptance. I called them to ask why my account is still open and I am being charged. They asked me to send email proof that I was told that my account was being cancelled back in March. I sent it to them and I was told that they were now cancelling my account and waiving the 30 day notice/bank fee since I indeed had proof that I tried to cancel back in March. I even got a confirmation email that my account was closed. Fast forward to July: I get calls from Paramount acceptance saying that they tried charging my card but it was declined (I put a block payment through my bank since I lost all trust in Vasa and their 3rd party billing). I call them back and send email proof that they said they cancelled my account and waived the 30 day notice. They then, try telling me that I still owe a 30 day notice/bank fee and I need to pay that to avoid going to collections. I REFUSED to pay and am disputing with collections out of principle!!! Vasa needs to A) train their customer service representatives on communication and follow-up, and B) go through a different 3rd-party billing system!Side note: I wrote a review about a month ago and it was removed. I looked into why it may have been removed (I thought that was not allowed?) and apparently, if you leave a review for multiple locations (including ones you did not visit) they can remove them. Now I am resubmitting reviews for the locations I have been to.

This used to be the best Vasa in Salt Lake, but lately machines are breaking and not being fixed for weeks. The hack squat machine on the south side of the building has been broken for months now. Im going to try out EOS gym because it seems like Vasa just doesnt care anymore.

Pros: A wide variety of machines. • Grass area is awesome • CostCons: • Frequently broken machines, especially the stairmaster.• Missing equipment. The weights from 5-30 lbs in the main weight room are never there. This photo was during a slow time period. I walked around the gym looking for them because maybe people didnt put them back. I even talked to the front desk weeks ago about it. But, every time I go those weights are gone and I cant see people using them. • Bathrooms look like I might get a disease.

GET IT IN WRITING IF YOU WANT TO CANCELI loved coming here so much for 16 YEARS. I want to come back, but I was so mistreated when I tried to cancel my membership during COVID that I feel like for my own dignity I need to look elsewhere. I tried to cancel at the beginning of the COVID shutdown and they suggested a freeze. Ok, freeze it up for 5 months. I went back THE WEEK BEFORE my freeze lifted to try to cancel. They said I’d need to go in right when the freeze lifted and cancel. Ok- called December 16, 2020 the day the freeze was supposed to lift. They said they couldn’t cancel but they could freeze again. 🙄 Alright I asked them to please do that! Nope, they kept charging me. I called my bank to get refunded. I got refunded... and right on schedule I just got charged 3x the amount of my membership. I called Paramount Acceptance, the account on my bank statement. The attendant said that since I didn’t have WRITTEN PROOF of cancellation I couldn’t get a refund. So I’m out $185 for a gym membership I didn’t use because I was trying to keep myself and others safe in this pandemic. No one told me I needed written proof as I was trying to cancel. Pretty messed up. I loved going here and I would’ve come back if this cancellation process were easier. Please change things so people feel comfortable signing up with you again.

Big shout out to “Chis” (member services/works on weekends) for his attention to cleanliness and member experience. I went to this location today and I asked the lady at the desk to give me details of pricing and she was very rude with me and I had to ask a few more times she was also very short with me and finally gave me attitude and said go to our website you will find all the details there instead of telling me anything in person! Usually I really like Vasa, but I went to a group high fitness class tonight and was appalled at the amount of people in the class. When I walked in, there had to be probably 50 people in the class with no social distancing. I was in the very back and had no room to really move at all and couldn’t really concentrate on my workout because I was worried about how close I was to the person next to me. I really thought Vasa would be more on top of this issue. I’m pretty sure if a health official walked into that class, it would be unacceptable. Very sad. I had to leave the class early because I just could not believe this is how Vasa is handling the pandemic, by saying that they’re clean and taking care of their customers. I do not think that’s taking care of them at all. I’m sorry, but I’m shocked at the lack of safety at this particular location.

Usually when I read Google reviews I always have this mindset of “but if I had been in that situation and called, I bet I could be nice and get it worked out”. This is not the case for this VASA location. So I’m writing a review.24 Hour Fitness locations closed in Utah earlier this year and all their members got transferred to VASA. I was transferred to this location, along with my sister and my boyfriend.Even though there was a link you could click to opt out when they first announced the transfer (about FOUR months ago), my sister STILL just barely got charged $35. She hasn’t been charged a single time since she declined to be transferred to VASA until now. Weird how they have her bank info then huh? She reached out via email and by chat and was only told that she’d have access to the gym until November. No refunds.I, on the other hand, will take responsibility for missing the window to just not be transferred. I was charged about $150 for services I didn’t want and didn’t use. After talking to multiple people I was able to get $0 of that refunded. When I finally canceled what I believed was my entire account, I got another charge for August because they’d disconnected my boyfriend’s account from mine and canceled only mine. This happened though we shared an account with one monthly charge and one credit card, and I was pretty clear in my conversation with VASA that I expected everything to be canceled.I personally think VASA shouldn’t have agreed to accept membership transfers from 24 Hour Fitness because of the headache involved, but I see that it’s probably been very lucrative for them. I realize customer service jobs suck, but these guys are like the 2020 of the fitness world. Takes all you’ve got. Gives nothing back. Makes you want to eat fifty donuts and never work out again.

Vasa is the least professional gym chain I have ever had the displeasure of joining. If you want to be treated poorly, this is the place to join. I paid my first and last month up front as requested. I canceled and was told my last month was taken care of as it was already paid. By the way, it was a nightmare to cancel.I am now finding out that my account magically went into collections. Which was a shock to me. As I again paid first and last month. This is the most unprofessional business I have dealt with so far. They outright lied about their terms. a complete misrepresentation.AVOID THIS PLACE!!!Join any other gym.Update: VASA said someone would call me. NEVER HAPPENED. Bunch of crooks and liars.

Update 6/21/19- The frame of the white leg press is cracked in two places. This has been previously reported to management as broken but the equipment is still in service. If it were to completely crack and separate it could crush someone while in use. Completely reckless of Vasa to allow it to stay in use.Previous review: The weight room is too small in comparison to the rest of the facility and smells like an old shoe.

I’ve only been going for a week, but everyone has been very respectful and kind! The staff is very friendly and informative. The fact that it’s a big gym can get a little intimidating, but once you start joining classes, the instructors make you feel very welcomed. And if you want a little more privacy, they always have the options of the Ladies Area for women as well as the theater room where they play movies. I very much recommend getting in and doing your best! 😄

I go to both the Brikyard location and the Van Winkle location and its so crowded in the free weights every time that I can’t get a good workout in or I just have to leave. Not to mention the condition of the men’s locker room and restroom. The amount of shaved hair and human feces I’ve seen on that floor is disgusting. Please tell me why I pay so much for these conditions.

During Covid, Vasa was nice enough to waive fees but after a few months the fees started up again. I tried to cancel my account as I did not feel safe using the Gym but the customer service rep could not help me cancel it at that time. He said he could not find my account. I did not think about it for a while but recently found out that my app had been disconnected so I could get no access to the gym or the app. I called again explaining my frustration and trying to get my account cancelled and they proceeded to tow the corporate line that there is no record of me trying to cancel my account so they could not refund any back payments. I mentioned that I did not care about back payments but wanted to just cancel my account and be done. The rep then told me about a $50+ cancellation fee that I never knew about plus a 30 day advance notice so in total I needed to pay more than $77 to cancel my account. When I signed up, there was a fee if I cancelled in the first 6 months but never remembered being told about a cancellation fee after that. This feels like a very shady (bordering on illegal) practice and even though I really enjoyed the Gym while I was a member, I will never use Vasa again, even when I feel like it is safe to use a Gym again. There are definitely other options out there. I feel that Vasa needs to know that they have useful soldiers in their billing outsource company, Paramount, but they are alienating loyal customers. It was this experience alone that is sending me away. Hard to believe that Vasa is willing to shut the door on future business over $77!

Like this location better than the Brickyard one. Nothing wrong with Brickyard, but this one is bigger, so social distancing is a bit easier. Locker room is huge and reasonably clean, which is a big deal for me personally. Showers raise some questions, though. Why on Earth walls beween shower stalls are so low? Privacy, look it up. I dont want to see other dudes while showering. Also, there is no way to keep 6 ft apart, while showering, so, yeah... Cant complain about equipment. There is a lot, nice variety and everything is in working condition. Staff seems friendly. The crowd is... Well, typical gym crowd. There are some bros and meatheads, some female versions of meatheads, and the rest are just normal regular ppl.

I got charged for my membership when gyms were closed due to COVID, they refused to refund me since they would be sending out “at home workouts” on the app. I don’t have a gym membership for work outs I have it for the equipment! Then I went in and froze my account and they are now trying to charge me for months of my “frozen” membership. They have the absolute worst customer service and their billing service is even worse. Vasa literally would take your first born child if they could! Horrible!!

We are in the middle of huge infection of COVID cases and the gym does not require anyone to wear a mask, just when they walk in and walk out, how does that make any sense? That makes as much sense saying that to prevent STDs just wear a condom when you start having sex, but after you can take it off..... Require mask and save Utah from being overwhelmed

I went to freeze my account in light of the pandemic and not feeling safe to use the facilities. I was told there is now a fee to freeze my account. This fee was never listed in the contract and has only been added within the last two weeks. I find it questionable practice to add fees after someone has been a customer for more than two years and they were previously told they could freeze their account for up to six months a year. Terrible customer service and very frustrating to deal with Paramount Acceptance (the third party customer service company that handles everything for VASA). I will never rejoin this gym.

I have been a member of Vasa for years sense it was golds.. I have never been disappointed sense recently. The way they handled the pandemic. They had plenty of time to plan and make the changes that the health dept made them do, yet they opened the gyms to limited hrs and they say they don’t even have enough staff to be open on Sundays... they don’t communicate with there members we always have to ask.. time to look for another gym.

After 24 hour fitness closed all their gyms in Utah, Vasa opened an account in my name. This is even after representatives from both companies stated that I would not be automatically transferred. Fast forward to August, Vasa was now telling me that me that I had to explicitly opt out of the transfer and by not doing so l had agreed to the new membership. I had to call in to get the account that I never wanted canceled, and to get 3 months of payments refunded. Two months later, I am now getting calls from their third party payment processors, Paramount Acceptance, stating I am behind on my payments and ready to be sent to collections. Now, I have to call to have the account canceled a second time. While their customer service people have been nice, the company as a whole has been nothing but completely unprofessional. Given that I personally know of a handful of other old 24 hour fitness members having the same issue, this is not a one off thing. Rather this a pattern gross negligence on Vasas part. Do yourself a favor, and take your business elsewhere.

Employees are rude. Not friendly. Never clean, even during a worldwide pandemic. Close early always. Turn off TVs wayyy before closing. Turn off lights on you twenty minutes before they close so you cant even finish your workout in the light.

Shiny immage. Broken machines, missing bars/dumbells, and unhelpful but friendly staff. They vacuum and mop, but the equipment and hot tub are gross. They dont address overbilling issues in-house, and send you to corporate. They invest a lot in a showy image, laminant fake wood accent walls, tvs and mirrors yet neglect the core gym.

Probably one of the nicest VASAs in the Valley. I like the deadlift set ups. However, one stuff member was very rude when I brought my friend to come workout with me. My friend forgot his ID. And we offered to pay for a drop in. He still said we had to leave. Idk how you run business like that.

Absolutely terrible. Worst customer service I have ever interacted with. They we charge random bills hidden in the contract and do anything, even lie, to keep your bill running. Worst experience I have ever had. Although it seems cheap up front it ends up being the most expensive gym in Utah. EDIT: No one ever reached out to me as the response says. More lies.

VASA = MEDIOCRE AT BESTBROKEN EQUIPMENT AND MANAGEMENT DOESN’T CAREI joined VASA 2 months ago and workout at least 4-5 days a week. This location is run down. On average, 4-5 of their 12 treadmills have been “OUT OF SERVICE”. I’m tired of waiting 30-40 minutes for a treadmill. I filled out a support ticket on the VASA App and called Member Loyalty. All responses on the VASA App were generic, prewritten statements that resulted in nothing. As of last night, 4 treadmills are still broken.You will never find any staff walking around the club to assist or answer questions. They are all huddled at the front desk or sales desk signing up new members. It’s very disappointing that they are so eager to sign you up and get your money and do nothing in return to ensure all equipment is working and the staff is engaging the members. I have asked for a manager on 3 separate visits and she was never available. Crazy that a gym this size doesn’t have a manager on duty at all times.Time to change gyms.

In my opinion, this is the worst VASA gym. One positive though, it is a large gym, but that makes no difference when most of the equipment is consistently broken. The main weight room stinks. I mean STINKS!! It is a cross between socks that have been worn daily for a year and not washed, then pickle juice and rotten eggs dumped on them and left in the sun for weeks. I mean, its gross. And the pool....well, last time I was there the health department had shut it down. REALLY?!! The health department condemned your pool? SOOOOOO GROSS. People, do yourselves a favor and avoid this VASA.
