I moved to Morgantown at the beginning of the summer for a doctoral program, and ran into some car problems and needs all summer. Leaving a trusted mechanic in my hometown, I was pretty nervous to find a good one here. After one bad experience, I figured I would give Shortys a try based on the reviews and first impressions. I 100% would recommend working with him. He has gone above and beyond to try to fix my cars (staying late is one perfect example for today), but he is certainly affordable and reliable. I would be more than happy to give Shorty my business for my two cards over the next 3 years in Morgantown!

Like a typical college student, my daughter didnt listen to me when I told her to get her car repaired when she had plenty of time before she started school and would not be driving much. Instead, she decided she was going to come home for the weekend and needed her car repaired the day before departure, hours before the shop closed. Of course, dad had to call to make arrangements for the work to be done.We had asked someone that worked at the university what repair shop he would recommend and Shorty Anderson was his only suggestion.Well, I called and explained the situation and fortunately the gentleman I spoke with was able to work my daughters car in.When she picked it up the next afternoon, the repair was complete and the car rode smoothly. When I spoke to her about the bill, I was relieved that the charge was very reasonable.As a concerned father who is not local to Morgantown, it is a relief to know there appears to be a reliable and fair shop that can be depended on when needs arise.I will definitely send my daughter back to Shorty Andersons for future needs while she is at school.

Shortys was able to get my car in on pretty short notice. I had previously had an issue with another garage in town not fixing my car after three trips to see them, but Shortys did awesome! Diagnosed the issue the first day, listened to my concerns, fixed the vehicle, and charged me a fair price. Shortys has gained a loyal customer out of me.

We went to get an inspection sticker as we waiting in front he comes and tells us to move & not to block the door. We explained we wanted to get an inspection sticker. He said need an appointment, we had to call but he wasnt nice at all. Very rude so we found elsewhere wont return.

First class auto repair shop. Great prices and quality work. However, it is tough to get an appointment as they are very busy and in demand. I recommend you plan accordingly as it may sometimes take a week or even two to get an available repair appointment scheduled.

I came to have my power steering pump replaced, which was replaced once by dinsmoore and put a bad part on.. Shorty’s employees were very friendly and professional. They replaced it and the car came out in great shape. Very good prices and trustworthy people. Will be back to have repairs done here and only here!

Shorty has always been more than fair with me and thorough in addressing all of my concerns. Ive been there at least 5 times by now, and expectations were always met, if not exceeded. Only complaint is that Shorty is actually quite tall, so the name is very misleading. Apart from its been great. 😎

A friend recommended them, so I checked out their reviews. I was a little worried because I saw reviews that they have a longer turnaround time than other places, but I got my van back the next day. They fixed the problem and I am a happy camper. I would highly recommend them.

Took my car in for a checkup and was told it would be done in a couple hours. After driving around for 4 hours in Morgantown I never got one call so I decided to go home and give them a call. The first person i talked to told me i had to get a part for my car and that it would take a bit for me to get my car back. I was told that he would get me an estimate of how much it was gonna be and I’d get a call right back. After 2 more hours of no call i decided to call and a new guy answered and said he had no idea about an estimate. After this he decided to ask the people who were apparently working on my car all day what was wrong and they said it didn’t need a part now. So he said they would have it done by noon the next day. After not receiving a call back for the 4th time I decided to call at 1 to see if my car was done and was told they were working on it which was the same answer i got 3 times the day before. I was then told after telling the guy that i haven’t even received a call about the status of my car after calling in 4 times that they were a busy garage and it’s not McDonalds so I’ll get it when I get it. Worst run car business I’ve been to yet.

Reasonably priced service. Respectful communication with clients. Not a hard-selling service center. They do the work you ask for and they dont harass you to buy more service/products. Theyve always been great for us and our vehicles.

Im in the parking lot writing a review right now, before I forget, because Im so pleased with their service. I am supposed to go home for the weekend, a couple hour drive, and my brakes just started grinding. I called to make an appointment, but there was nothing for a week. I told them about my situation, and they told me to come in. One of the guys looked at my brakes within minutes and told me there was nothing wrong with them, it was just a bit of rust, and that I would be safe to drive. They didnt charge me a single thing. A lot of people would have cheated me, told me I needed new pads or rotors. These guys are as honest as they come, and truly a pleasure to work with! Thank you!

Amazing service. Got an oil change and a light replaced. It took under half an hour for both things. The mechanics are all super nice and the pricing is very good. I would highly recommend them to all of my friends at WVU.

Quick and efficient

These guys are awesome! Got in a minor incident and my car had to be towed. I choose to have my car towed to Shorty Andersons because of their reviews, although without knowing how long it would be before they look at my car since it was brought in on very short notice and they always appear busy. Anyway, my car was looked at and repaired just a couple hours after it was brought in. Was very impressed, but really impressed by the low cost for repairs. Would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Went to Short Andersons after I had a check engine light for my evap system. The staff are very nice and sentimental by smoke testing my car for free and the diagnostics they did were free as well. I recommend these mechanics for all of your vehicle needs that they are able to do.

I’ve brought my car here for inspections and oil changes since 2016. They’ve never tried to convince me that anything is wrong with my car, they always just do the service I came in for- and usually pretty quickly. I’m confident now that when something does actually go wrong with my car, I can trust them to fix it up without trying to sell me unnecessary parts or services.

The guys are very honest about what it would cost. They could be slightly on the expensive side but not too much. However, the quality of work is very good!

Clueless mechanics. They had my vehicle for a month. I was called twice that it was fixed. After paying and trying to drive off of the lot the vehicle broke down before making out of parking lot- two times this happened in one month. They continued to try their scam of cleaning the throttle body unit to get mechanic hours logged. They wanted to clean it 3 different times.. vehicle is being moved to another shop after they tried cleaning the throttle body unit for one month to log more hours and drain my wallet.

Had car towed there without appointment or advanced notice. He had the car fixed in a few hours. quality work and fair prices.

Ive taken my car to these guys a few times in the 1.5 years Ive been living in Morgantown. They are incredibly honest, they didnt charge me anything for looking at my check engine light. They charge me less than $400 for a timing belt replacement when another dealership quoted me $1,100. And today they charged me $390 for a new alternator and an oil change, which is way less than any price Ive found online. These guys are honest and affordable.

You took a car there when we lived in Morgantown, and I wish he would open a garage in Charleston. LOL.He only fixes what needs to be fixed and he fixes it right the first time. If you cant handle it, he prefers you out to a good mechanic. Fair prices too. Notice he doesnt advertise… Because he doesnt have to!

My 2013 Nissan rogue was having brake failure starting in January. It had been to Monroes and the Nissan dealership on the mileground. $1,000 later and it still was having brake failure. I was distraught and out of money. A ton of people kept recommending Shortys so I figured Id give it a shot. Not only did they find the issue, but they fixed it on a Saturday when they were supposed to be closed. On top of that, they called my extended warranty company and had the whole process covered for me. The other places I visited took money from me and didnt fix my problem, nor would they call my warranty for me. Needless to say, Shortys has another loyal customer now. Thanks guys!!! It stops great now!

Wanted $760.00 for 4 brake pads, rotors and a tie rod. I asked if they would do an alignment which is recommended when you replace a tie rod and they dont do alignments. Very expensive for a common chevy car, taking my business elsewhere.

Took our car to be fixed and they did GREAT work, very FRIENDLY, and VERY reasonable!, the work was done in a timely manner. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. Very honest people! I would use them again!

We have had such bad experiences with shops ripping us off with non-existent problems; Shorty Andersons checked our breaks, free of charge, because we thought they needed replaced when they could have just charged us for new ones. They took the time to inspect and explain the possible issues.

Sent a friend down to get CV axles put on her Honda and these guys charged much less than I expected and didnt try to add anything uneccessary to the bill. This is not one of those take advantage of that clueless woman kind of shops. I was very impressed with the work, speed and price.

I originally brought my car in because I was told by another repair shop that I needed a bearing changed. After talking with a couple of the mechanics here, my cars diagnosis was a new sway bar and heat shield (I asked about another noise my car was making). I didnt even end up needing a new bearing and all the noises are now gone. They saved me almost $500 compared to the other shop! These workers are honest, personable, and well-priced. Im very hesitant about who I bring my car to since Im an out-of-state student, but these guys have my business as long as Im in Morgantown.

Definitely the best place in Morgantown for auto service. They are honest and hard working people and I always get my car back that day when I take it in when they first open. As a female, Ive gone to places for auto service in Morgantown and leave spending thousands of dollars to fix things I later find out werent a problem. I never have to worry about that with Shorty Andersons & my husband has liked their auto services here too. They never start working on your car without authorization first. Very trustworthy mechanic, and those are very hard to come by. I can easily say this is my favorite car repair shop I have ever used. The place deserves 10 stars!

Fair prices and good work. However, my experience with them was sub-par. I was told they would perform certain checks on my car, which never happened. They stated (on multiple occasions) they would call me back, but never did. When I did talk to them on the phone, I was interrupted when asking about repairs and felt rushed to get off the phone. Also, they said that they would call when my car was finished, but never did and each time I decided to just go there instead of waiting and my car was finished (for who knows how long). It took three days to replace a mirror even with an appointment. Still waiting to hear about an estimate for another issue. The thing that really upset me was they broke my door pocket (keep CDs and such in), but never told me. I had to find out on my own when all of my things fell out when I opened the door. After having to put back all the things they removed from it.

Very pleased with their courteous staff. They had our car back on the road in less than 24 hours of being towed to their shop. It is a relief, as a parent, to know that my WVU student can count on this shop to help out.

Rude behavior I find no excuse for it. I am trying to be nice to every one around me and we should all be nice to each other, it does not cost any thing.My car broke down just next to their place, I went inside to ask if they can fix my car, the guy their said yes they can but they are busy and cant work on it until next week (It is my only car so I wanted it to be fixed as soon), I said to him I will try to see if I can find some one to fix the car today if not then I will leave it for you to fix it and I asked if I can leave my car where it is (next to his place) for an hour just to make a decision or for the towing truck to come, he said NO it has to be moved immediately (my car is broken!!) or I give him the key to fix it (some time next week). His excuse was that the parking is full, but I can see few spot empty. A friend of mine stop by to help me with exchanging battery so we could move the car before any problems, he got angry and said to stop fixing the car on his property (we were just exchanging batteries!!!)I did manage to move my car in no time and fixed my car the same day some where else near by.I care about the way I get treated if you do then it is not the place to go.

Shorty gives the best oil change in the state.

One of my cars developed a break issue while my son had it at college. Because I am out of town, I expected the worst. I admit that I was surprised by the great service. Shortys only fixed what was needed and charged a very fair price. I was expecting some amount of rip off (extra unnecessary repairs, padded labor hours, etc.). That never happened. And they got it done when they said they would.

They worked on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and went above and beyond the repair that was needed. I had them replace upper and lower driver side ball joints, u-joints and pinion seal. They charged me for this work and the price was very affordable.In the process they noticed that my rear brake calipers were seized up so they fixed them and I have superb brakes now and they did that at no extra charge.I think Ive found the place Ill bring all of my vehicle repairs too.

The best care you can get for your car in this area at the best price. They know exactly what to do and honest. Got my 2006 mazda fixed and ready for a 2500 mile long trip when i relocated. From being paranoid about an old car making this trip to being confident is how i rate their service.

My car has squealing brakes after stop n go traffic, and it almost sounds like something is rubbing as well. I took it in and they told me it was the sway bars. Paid for the parts and labor, within a day I heard the same noise again and called back . They said bring it in again, looked at it and told me it was a warped rotor and Ill need new rotors and brakes. Said ok and paid for everything, so now Im in 500.00. Guess what... Car still making the same damn noise. Unsure if its worth calling again, Ive been told it was two different things and neither of them are the problem and Im out 500.

My son recently came back to Morgantown to move from one apartment to another. While he was there the starter went out in the car he was driving. Just three month prior I had replaced the starter that I got from a nationally known parts store. I looked online and found Shorty Andersons place. I called and spoke to them and they recommended a tow company and we got the car over there. This was a Thursday afternoon. My son then came home to Va. using another vehicle. We both figured it would be a few days before the car was ready.To our pleasant surprise we got the call the next day that the car was ready. Shortys even called the same nationally known part store and gave them my # and they looked it up, got the starter covered under warranty. Shortys didnt have to do that and it shows that they are there to help their customers. My total bill included the tow bill and it was very reasonable. When I told them that it might be a week to 10 days before we could get back to pick the car up. Shorty said that would be fine. Whatever time we needed and the car would safe.As a parent, we just want to know our kids are safe and that in a pinch somebody trustworthy is there to help them. Shorty Andersons has more than earn our trust. My son now knows who to call in Morgantown for all his vehicle needs.

A big shout out to Shorty Anderson’s Auto Repair. We were traveling through en route to Maryland and upon our stop for the night heard a dreadful metal scraping noise on our front drivers tire. The repair guys had us in and out in no time to discover it was a large piece of debris lodged up in the tire. Didn’t charge us a dime either! We tipped generously. I seriously cannot say enough good things about these guys! As a WVU student far from home, I wanted to find an honest and reasonably priced mechanic in the area, and I definitely found that here. Everyone is so friendly and goes to great lengths for their customers. Just this morning I brought my car in for a strange noise, and was told my tie rod needed to be replaced. I mentioned I needed to be at work by 2 in the afternoon, and they said the car would be ready by noon. At around 9:30 (less than two hours after dropping off my car) I got a call saying they made it a priority and it was already done! There have also been a few times I have dropped by due to lights turning on in my car that worried me, and they were able to put my mind at ease or run a quick scan-without charging! All around great guys who do amazing work at a very reasonable price, especially considering the quality you get!

Shorty Andersons is by far the BEST. John and Ernie are old school... very honest and trustworthy, friendly, helpful, and charge a fair price. My daughter is a student at WVU and far from home. She has taken her car to Shortys twice and each time the problem was not what I thought it was and the repair cost was much less than I had expected. They easly could have taken advantage of the situation and I never would have suspected otherwise. Their honesty has saved me several hundred dollars. I wish they were located in my home town. Honest people! Took my suv in for an inspection that had used tires from another vehicle that had an alignment problem with worn tread on the inside. told me my alignment was fine. Didnt try to make a fast buck. Will take my vehicle back any time.

Brought my car here after a terrible experience at Morgantown Auto Repair. You can go read that review over there. I called from Morgantown Auto Repair and Shortys let me pick their brain for what they thought may have been wrong with my car and said theyd be happy to take a look. They took my car on 20 minutes notice around 10am and called me by 3pm the same day when they were done. If you are a parent of a student have them take their vehicle here. These are good guys to have in your corner.Nerd Alert: I nerded out over the custom intel build PC they have on their desk. Never seen a mechanic with a custom PC.

Just brought my car to Shortys to have it worked on because it was acting up for a short period of time. The next day it was starting and running just fine, but i wanted to get it looked at anyways. They took a look at it there and drove it around to make sure that it was running okay. They also hooked it up to the computer to make sure it wasnt throwing any codes, which it wasnt. I came in to pick it up, and asked what I owed him for his time. He told me I didnt owe him anything, because he couldnt find anything wrong. Where else will you ever find someone this honest in todays world? Any other mechanic would have charged at LEAST $100 just for their time. If you need somewhere to take your car in Morgantown, this is the place to go. At least you know they wont be ripping you off like most places. I will be returning here any time I need my car worked on! Kudos to them!

Tried to scam me 500 bucks for a tie rod and failed inspection. Went to another shop and was told no problem was found.

Back at home, I had a family mechanic and I was very skeptical of bringing my car anywhere else. These guys were great. My car didnt pass the inspection (tires didnt have tread) and they didnt even charge me for their time. Back in MA, I would have had to paid the price for the inspection sticker even though it failed.Brought my car there again a few months down the road to replace a broken handle. Although I bought the part on my own, they installed it for a hefty price of 80 (Im a graduate student so thats pricey to me). But I did notice that they fixed my door locks and my windows (which were not working properly before). Now thats what I call service, I didnt even ask them to!

Shortys used to be a decent mechanic n this town but dnt kno wat has happened to that in the last year from what Ive heard and received wen I got my car back recently. Picked up the car same things wrong with it and drives louder and rougher than wat it did wen I took it to there shop. Like I said used to be one of the most honest n town. But not anymore. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! UNLESS U LIKE THROWING HARD EARNED $$$ in THE TRASH. If thats the case give me some and point me in the direction of a REAL mechanic

I took my car here several times. Really fantastic people and cost of repair is not as expensive as most places in morgantown.

I wish I could write a good review for Shortys, the service was friendly. However, I got a radiator put in and it wasnt properly attached to my transmission. I was driving on the highway the next day and it detached and ruined my transmission. My car is TOTALED. I have no means of transportation now and Shortys claims no responsibility. Visiting Shortys has made my life very difficult and stressful.I am sure they have done radiators successfully hundreds of times but I have to recommend taking your car elsewhere.

There was something wrong with my car so I took it to Premier GMC. Dont make my mistake. I lost over $100 just to have the car checked out and was told I needed to get $1000 worth of repairs. I called Ernie at Shorty Andersons afterward, and he gave me a quote of ~$200. He dropped the unnecessary repairs. Premier wanted to replace the throttle body; Ernie said cleaning usually fixes the issue, and a quick Google search confirmed what Ernie said. I immediately took my car off Premier GMCs lot and drove it straight to Shorty Andersons where they checked it out the same day. I was told the issue could be being caused by a part (ignition switch) that was under recall. To my surprise Ernie didnt charge me for checking my car out.The point is that Shorty Andersons is focused on making the smallest repairs possible and seeing if the issue is fixed. In summary I was told to try these options in this order based on FREE service from Shorty Andersons: 1) Replace ignition switch (FREE recall replacement at Premier GMC) 2) Clean throttle body (cheaper than replacing it) 3) Replace throttle body if cleaning doesnt work but was told thats unlikely.P.S. Im skeptical of fake reviews especially when the review count is so low. Rest assured Im a real boy!
