Love this place. The people are beyond wonderful. They serve three meals a day. Have a place to shower and do a load of laundry. And will give you clothes if you need. Thank you for the help you gave me. Thank you so much.

It is ran by devils, who use the words non- profit to enable their corruption! Arthur is the Elder Demon! Billy( the manager is the brains behind the con!) In the end God will judge them! I speak from experience! I was a drug addict on the streets of Monroe for several years. Most non-profits such as Desiard St. Shelter are corrupt anyway. Ok your not the Devil Billy, but Arthur is very disrespectful to clients. I seen numerous reviews from people that I dont know. Arthur is more rude and abusive when it not around. Rev is fairly nice and so is Chris. Arthur nice rarely to.

This place took me in and helped me get on my feet and start all over with a new beginning!! The staff was amazing and so were the volunteers.

The meals are always good, but the men staff seem to think all the homeless people who come there do so because they are on drugs. The men staff treat the homeless people very harsh, and even run some of them off for just wanting to sit in the shade and rest for a minute. They are homeless, where else can they go if not to a homeless shelter?

This place is a hard cold place that will meet your basic needs but falls short of understanding. You will be disrespected and talked down to. As if you are a child.

This place deserves no stars. You have a bunch of characters to deal with and some staff are rude. When you get there they act like your supposed to know the rules. They wont tell about the things you can do to benefit you. They dont care about your drug or alcohol use until you snap on somebody for being disrespectful. Well i was kicked out and told not to come back because I speak my mind and the retards said I was a bully. No stupid I dont like to be around idiots. They let a guy that is mentally challenged get his food stamps and social security stolen. If you want drugs they are right inside. They dont search you for weapons. Im a military vet they put me out in 90+ weather had to beg for waterIm not from the area is bad situation. I didnt start drinking till a staff member said I could as long as I didnt get violent. Gay folks all over the place. One MS. Hill will sexually harrass others but since his kind works there he gets away with. I watch them donate clothes that were donated to them. Room full of expired can goods they never pass out. Roof full of donated drinks they refuse to pass out that became expired. I need clothes and a jacket when i got there but they said they didnt have any but when we cleaned out the place it was BRAND NEW stuff everywhere. Only 1 bathroom so if you need to go you have to hit the bushes guys and girls. I can keep going but i need the rest for the news. They know who the hell I am and boy they started this mess. If my grammar is screwed up oh well you understand.

This shelter is managed fairly well but clearly doesnt have enough funding. The showers are outdoors. The only beds I saw were located at a nearby church. They transport the homeless from their main building to the church at night. They are encouraged not to walk around in the area, because police will arrest them (dont know if that true but its what the staff repeated to the homeless) There usually arent very many homeless at the shelter. Around 15-20 people. It isnt packed and yet resources are scarce. The citys homeless population is much larger than the few people that go to the shelter. It needs more funding and even better management.
