Nice gym. It is small and a bit more expensive than its really worth. Day passes are pretty expensive and the options dont get better from there. That being said it never got too crowded when I was there so that was nice. I can imagine it would be a lot worse in the school year.
Very clean, friendly staff and a great selection of bouldering options along with the walls.
Id give this place -5stars if it were possible. They charged my 8yr old daughter and me 200 dollars to get in and then told us we couldnt climb or get certified to climb because Carona.. mind you there was no sign or notification of any kind when taking my cash. I contacted the staff/manager/owner and was told tuff luck. This place sucks harder than Donald Trump.
Variety of bouldering and wall climbing routes with a gym area too. I personally like the university gym atmosphere a little better, but if youre looking for a community of skilled climbers in Missoula, this is where theyll be.
Its a cool gym, but now that they put up the big walls the prices are outrageous, as in $90 for a month. I dont know why any students would continue to come here when we have access to the UM gym for free. Also, remember to bring your own water bottle. Somehow this gym doesnt have a drinking fountain, presumably to make you buy their bottled water.
Very fun and good workout, also has a very friendly staff!
Great staff and routes.
We have had two kids birthday parties there now and it is great the kids love it.
Great Climbing Facility, Excellent and Forgiving Route Setting for all levels of Climbing, New Roped Walls are amazing!Getting Belay and Lead Certified was quick and easy.Highly Recommended.
A nice gym. Friendly climbing community. Unfortunately, super limited certification times for when you can get certified to climb ropes. I have a few friends I want to climb with but unless we arrive after 4 pm the staff wont certify them to climb. Its an inflexible policy per the front desk. Something that you should definitely know if you are from out of town and are hoping to climb ropes before 4 pm.
This is the first time I have been to Freestone Climbing. I went with my kids, nieces and nephew. It was a blast. I would love to take a training course to learn more. It was busy when we went. The only downside, some of the other climbers were irritated kids were there. Overall, it was a great experience.
This place is awesome prices are relevant for renting and just climbing. Good variety of difficulties.
Great to have a full gym in Missoula. Staff has always been kind and helpful.
Its fine for what it is.Theres not a huge amount of routes and boulders, and its a little pricey considering this.Nothing about it is bad, per se, but theres nothing about it in my mind that makes it stand out above other xlimbing gyms Ive been to.Alas, I will probably return next time Im in Missoula as its the only one I know of around these parts.
Love the community and just being able o climb with rad people
Great experience and facility. Brought my scout troop and they loved it.
Great climbing walls and training for first timers! The staff was awesome and super helpful!
It’s disapointing what a gym of this caliber is now charging. Limited routes, hours, and equipment. Considering that they justified the rate hike as a comparison to what other gyms charge (Spire in Bozeman?!), I’m concerned about what improvements we will see. $70 a month at any other gym would give you fitness, yoga, and training classes..and a drinking fountain. For months now, we’ve heard that Freestone is “working on changes”, but every month there is another excuse for why setting is being skipped, or why any yoga and training is not being offered...hire more staff, this town is full of capable, talented, experienced climbers who could bring in more variety and quality routes. We have a great climbing community that has given this gym a lot of support over the years, but this new facility lacks the energy and feel of what the old gym and staff offered. Make Freestone Great Again! And for all of our sakes, get a drinking fountain so we can be good stewards of the earth and hydrated climbers by refilling our water bottles!
Facility is great. Prices are reasonable. Staff is remarkably rude and unhelpful, unless the owner is around to see. Regulars are ignored. Newbs are snubbed by staff, but the regulars step up and help them.
Excellent gym and climbing wall to keep in shape for summer!
Holy moly the walls here are tough! Super steep gym with mostly slopers for holds. Only one vertical wall for bouldering and that had two crimpy reachy routes. Their top rope stuff starts at 10c.The guys behind the desk were nice enough and I met a few people in my two hours there that were very pleasant, but I couldnt really climb any routes, and thats no way to set a gym. You gotta have something for everyone, not just the gorilla armed regulars.Great facilities here, with free weights and a yoga room.
Love this place, great people who are willing to help and teach newcomers!
Great spot to climb indoors, cant wait for the big walls to be up!
Great, but super pricey as of the recent price changes.
Hidden Gem in Missoula
Contemplating no longer climbing here since there are less than 10 new climbs a week. They went tapeless but decided not to pay for new holds so the pink, red, and orange all blend together. There isnt a hangboard or campus board. Basic things that any climbing gym in the country addressed over a decade ago. Im paying $53 for a climbing gym that isnt catering to climbers.
Play everyday!
Love the vibe
Laid back and fun!
Cool
Love it
