Staff is awesome! Janet and everyone! Took a.m. aqua aerobics, Shauna ROCKS! Very conscious of students needs and skilled at working to strength and endurance. This was my first time, Ill be back!

Love this community center. They just upgraded all of the cardio equipment and it is now my favorite place to run. I always feel safe and I have never had an issue getting a spot when attending the gym.

Good experianced. Out side parking light need to be fixed. It is dangerous at night.

Toddler time 2$ is not okay while open gym for adults 105$ is okay? It is known that kids dont get covid but they shut kids programs down. Go ahead with adult open gym and get your money. Parks and rec accomendates approximately.

Great gym area, plenty of equipment, never crowded, and kept very clean. Closing at 6pm during the week, and not being open period during the weekend makes it near impossible for most people to take advantage of these very limited hours. If you work for a living you might wait to get a membership here, dont understand the decision to close off and limit their hours like this covid or not. In different times would give a 5/5.

They do let people in BUT it is the only place in Jo Co, Ks that requires mask wearing the entire time u r exercising & trying to be healthy. Instead of breathing healthy O2, u r putting bad CO2 back into ur lungs. Most of the activities have people over 6 ft apart anyway.

Sylvester Powell is a terrific community center. They have it all! And, the staff is friendly and helpful, locker room is clean ... perfect!

Great place to work out and walk track

Pre-covid I would give 5 stars. It is a great gym but working people are not a priority as of the current time as it has been closed after 6 and on Sat/Sun. If you are a homemaker or dont work you will be happy here though.

They take great precautions during this time. Many group classes are open with limitations. Check out my belly dance class on THURSDAYS at 6pm! ☺

We love this place! It’s a great community center. It looks well cared for and the kids love the pool. We’d get a membership if we were a bit closer— but we’ve done birthday parties and toddler times for the kids. The staff is so kind!

I have been taking the 8 AM class with Shauna Utz for 7 years. In the first 8 months I lost 35 lbs. without going on a diet. We get a great workout and we also have fun.One side aspect of taking this class is the COMMUNITY that Shauna has created. Everyone comes and feels welcome by all. Because of this COMMUNITY, we not only gather at 8 AM and get our great workout, we have an annual summer picnic and Holiday Party. I consider Shauna and the rest of the group some of my best friends and only have Shauna to thank for it.

They need to get the ac working & pool heated... the staff is awesome.

People are really nice and happy to help at all times. This is also a very clean facility. Theyre also available as a wedding venue with various party rooms available as well. A few different basket ball courts very nice. Volley ball available too. I personally enjoyed the hot tub and sauna the best. Also available are lap lanes and a water slide. Definitely worth checking out!

I really like this place. The only issue is that there isnt a lot of kid things for my son to do that dont cost money. He can swim, and play in the racket ball courts. He has taken many of the swim lessons there and they are great.

It has a good play area (a big gym with things for kids to do and play with) designed for younger children. Although its only open for a couple hrs. in the mornings. It was kind of a far drive for me. But my 18mo girl really enjoyed playing there.

My husband and I attend the 8 am water aerobics class that Shauna teaches. We love it. Shauna is professional, warm, and continues to instruct us about specific muscle groups we are working as the class progresses. It is unfortunate that someone shared a negative review without even attending the class. You bet she looks at her phone, that is how she changes the music! Each class member I spoke to after today’s class expressed their dismay at the one negative review that was posted. Shauna’s 15 years of dedicated service to the aging does not deserve the negative scrutiny. She is a pro.Laura Carter

The gym has everything I could need for a good workout! I do love it and would give it 5 stars, but the parking lot is very small. Thats the only bummer!Updated to 5 stars beside Ive recently found out there is more parking on the other side of the building. :D

We rented a space for a baby shower. The process of reserving the room was easy and the staff was easy to work with. They refunded our security deposit within a few days of the event. I would consider this facility again for future events.

I also take the 8:00 water aerobics classes and have been coming for 4 years. The instructor does an awesome job. I taught physical education for over 20 years and the hardest thing is to make your class fit the abilities of all the people. Our instructor not only runs the class well but takes time with the new people to help with their understanding of the exercises. She does use her phone to run the music for the exercises. I have been to other facilities and I always recommend SPJCC over the others. Keep up the good work

For the location, I was pleasantly surprised with how much parking there was. They are very welcoming to guests and seem to be extremely family-friendly. For those looking for racquetball courts, dont look anywhere else. Their courts are superb!

I play basketball here with a group of guys Saturdays at noon during the winter. The courts here are nice, but there is no real three point line for the full courts. Other than that its great.

Jacob was super helpful with a baby shower that we hosted this weekend! He was very polite and always willing to help!

Love this place! Heated indoor pool with a slide and lap area. Workout equipment and basketball courts. Small child care area for the kids while you workout. Their friendly staff keep the place very tidy.

The level of pickleball was 3.3 -3.8. They dont mind if you play with a partner and they were friendly and fair. I had an excellent time. And I found parking right by the door. You I. d. Yourself with a finger print! They are a silver sneaker facility. The facility is in excellent condition. Floors and lighting are great. Four courts. Missouri needs to step up to the plate!

Building has a fantastic design, the outside of the building looks nothing like a typical community center. Great conference rooms for meeting spaces.

Nice atmosphere. Pool area could use more venting. Great workout area, walking track, very nice meeting and event rooms. Staff is very nice.

Really great place to work out. It gets really crowded at peak hours and can be hard to lift or run. Annual membership is very affordable.

My work offered a membership to this community center as a perk to its employees. I signed up cause I do need to get back in shape.I LOVE this facility. The upstairs track is nice, basketball and there is plenty of cardio equipment. The best part of this facility is the pool, steamroom, sauna and locker rooms.Clean, nice and Im very happy to be a member.

Mission has some sort of small town magic that makes you think youre in a 3000 person kansas town... Not a suburb to a 2 million person metro area. This feeling flows throughout the community and is especially felt at SPJ. Wonderful staff. Excellent facilities. Cant recommend enough.

Very clean, great place for meetings or family fun if you live in the area. My church hosts events here on a regular basis.

I wish they had towels to rent/use to shower with. The on-site daycare here is excellent.

In response to Yeager’s comments. I have been attending SPCC for 5 years, and have yet to have a poor experience. Been a member of the 8 am water aerobics for 5 years. This class is designed for those of us who are trying to age gracefully and healthfully, and to maintain or gain flexibility. Our instructor understands these needs and does a remarkable job in leading this diverse group. She is inspiring, encouraging us with each class. I always feel refreshed and energized after class. As far as the phone issue—the music for the exercises is on her personal playlist which she syncs to the big speaker...DUH!I have found this instructor and all instructors here at SPCC to be outstanding and give 100% for every class.The SPCC is the diamond 💎 of the Mission area. Promoting health and wellness for all age groups. SPCC keep up the good work and Thank You!Pam Dietz
