The owner of this establishment is excellent to deal with! Great service hands down! I had a UHaul truck I needed to drop off. The place I rented from said the nearest UHaul place was 30 miles from where I was. I found Bauers on the web which was only 4 miles from where I was. I called and talked with the owner. He was very nice and very helpful and put my mind at ease. He found me in the system and put me down for drop off there. Drop off was super easy. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Really pleased with the service I received at this location all the employees were extremely helpful, friendly, and polite. Which is greatly appreciated when dealing with the stress of moving and all that it entails. I would personally recommend this location to anyone and based on how I was treated if I still lived in the Twin Cities I would be a customer of all their services. A good childhood friend helped me pack and he had nothing, but great things to say about this business as well.

Not realizing that everyone and their neighbor is looking to get hitches installed I had left this task for the last week before going on a road trip. I called multiple other places and average wait time was 2 weeks. After a string of disappointments I called Bauer on a Sunday and in spite of being busy and not to mention incredibly hot (weather wise) the guys (Marcus, Chris and Josh) undertook the job and delivered in style. I have incredible respect for the team for doing a professional and thorough job and for being so courteous about it. Highly recommended.

I have been coming to Bauers for at least 20 years for truck and trailer rental, installing 2 trailer hitches, lots of propane (Im a big BBQer)and occasionally gas. Their service has also been high quality workmanship of high quality products. Mike has helped solve some propane tank confusion for me during the propane valve changeover a few years ago. They do a big business and are usually busy but I have found them to be friendly, courteous and timely in their labor scheduling and work performance.one unique customer service they provide is a dropoff place for used packing boxes for free pickup by others.A very valuable customer service that costs them sales! I have been going to Bauers for my trailer hitch needs since 2010. Right now they are helping me get the right kind of hitch set up on my new Highlander so I can safely tow my camper. Mike the owner and Shay the mechanic are just the best. It is hard these days to find service where the people really know what they are doing, but this is one such place. They are willing to stop what they are doing and talk so they learn what it is that you really need. I grew up in a small town where things were friendly and personal. This place is like the kind of shop I remember. Sometimes they can get very busy - but thats because they are so good. If you go there in their busy season, there may be a wait. Let me assure you that the wait is worth it.

Nothing but good experiences at Bauers. The mechanic Shay has worked on my 14 Ford Fiesta a few times. Oil changes, Rear shocks, a front axle, brakes, and some check engine light stuff. Always had my car back in a few hours and the price has been more than fair, my dad works at NAPA and he was surprised how reasonable the pricing is. Wish they had a waiting room to chill in, But it was kinda fun to watch my car be worked on even tho Shay made me wear safety glasses in the shop :)I was surprised that such a small shop has so many high tech tools. Im in college for engineering and welding so I know about tools and recognize Snap-on. Any repair thats been needed was fully explained to me and if I wasnt there to watch or see in person I was updated with pics and video. I havent been there in a month or two, but felt this review was long overdue. Great little shop!! Thank you

I have been a customer for approximately 17 years. I have used them for hitches, U-haul trailer rental, propane and gas. They are a small family business and the owner is often on site.Pros:* Texaco or Monnoco, it is still Bauer and not some giant chain. The Super Unleaded is discounted.* they used to have a discount buying gas after 8 pm. Not sure if they still have that.* super easy U-haul rental via the national site. I recently rented a trailer from there. They even connect and disconnect the trailer for you.* hitch service and supplies. I’ve had them weld hitched to my cars that lacked them, to just fitting a hitch to whatever car. I recently had them put on the appropriate hitch for a heavy boat. They tightened the ball on for me, so no worries I did not do it right.* propane. My son’s Boy Scout troop historically got a discount on tank fills. I recycle my old tanks there for $5 each, and get my fills there as well.* moving supplies like boxesCons: none

Would give them a zero stars if possible. Told me it would take 2-3 hours to do my hitch. 6 hours after my appointment it was done. All I got was a sorry. Horrible customer service. Would highly recommend going somewhere else!

Rude. I was filling up my car and was yelled at by an employee that I needed to hurry up and move so that a larger truck could get in and fill up at the pump I was at. I didnt cut in line, I wasnt sitting on my phone, I was just waiting for my own car to fill up... Not my fault they have a wonky set-up and only certain pumps on certain sides.There are better stations nearby.

One guy working the register today. Waited 10 minutes to prepay for gas. I finally get helped and he tells me he will authorize it shortly. Huh? I wouldnt have been upset about the wait except for the fact that there was no acknowledgement on your employees part that people had been waiting, some longer than me. Not a hey sorry about the wait, how can I help. When I addressed him about it he didnt seem to care. Not the way to win customers. Guess your business has enough customers and you dont need new ones or even keep current customers. Not to mention that I wait for 10 minutes and then another wait for him to authorize the pump??? Not happy.

A U-Haul spot... but 5-stars because the van I rented was immaculate, new, and actually drove well. Its also a gas-station, making the last-minute fill-up a breeze. Staff was courteous and quick. What more do you need?

Had a hitch and electrical lights set up on my 2011 Lexus RX 350. Made an appointment with them and I was in and out of there in 40 minutes. The hitch technician came out after it was done and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. Love the Curt Mfg hitches. Hardly see it on the vehicle. Busy place, but thats why people go there. I am moving to Seattle in 2 days and the end of May is the busiest moving week of the year. Every other U-Haul in the metro area could not get me in until after I was planning to leave, I was searching frantically all over for a solution to my problem, when I came to Bauers Custom Hitches. They made time in their busy schedule to help me and I can not stress how friendly and wonderful their customer service is. Every employee was eager to help and willing to put in the extra unscheduled work to meet my demands. They are the best in the business and I will always refer my family and friends in MN to use them for any service they need. After my experience with Bauers Custom Hitches, I highly recommend this team to anyone who is looking to have a hitch installed and/or in need of maintenance.TL;DR: Great service, extremely fair pricing, will not up-charge, cares about its customersI made an appointment to have a hitch installed on my 2012 GMC Terrain because we are moving across the country in a couple of weeks. Bauers gave me an estimate of $386 to purchase the hitch, install the hitch and install the necessary lighting.Im probably going to explain this wrong, but when I went to have the hitch installed, the tie threads (?) were rusted and needed to be changed in order to bolt the hitch to the frame. The service advisor, Shay, explained the situation to me asked if he could replace them at $5/pop. When he was removing the old threads, one was so rusted it cracked off inside the frame.Shay had already installed the wiring for the lighting, but could not put on the hitch at this point because it could not be bolted into the frame in all 6 spots required. The Bauers team told me to go home over the weekend, and that they would consult an engineer to determine how to proceed. They did not charge me for the work that they had already done (lighting and re-threading the additional ties(?)). Shay explained to me that the cost had not changed.When I returned, Bauers had researched this issue and purchased a new tool in order to fix the problem. Shay spent 2+ hours trying to remove the rusted piece, and he eventually was able to put the hitch on. Although he spent several hours longer working on my car than scheduled, Bauers only charged me for one additional hour of service on top of my estimated price, and I ended up paying only about $90 more than my original estimate, despite all of the additional work that had to be done.The estimate from GMC for all of the work Bauers did came back at over $1,200.00. I spent about $475.I left feeling confident that I will be able to safely move without having spent a ton of money. These guys really care about their customers.

The guys at Bauers made it so easy and painless to get a hitch/tow package put on my new Jeep while saving me at least $200.00. I appreciate honesty and good workmanship, and Bauers sets the bar in these two vital areas of business. I will be going back, count on it.

Recently rented a one-way U-Haul + tow dolly for my move to SLC. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. They are flexible and work with you so it is convenient! I would recommend them to rent your U-Haul.

We booked a last minute enclosed trailer through them. It was really nice to be able to pick it up later in the day on a Sunday. No other local Uhaul was open that late on a Sunday.

I stopped in first thing on a Mon. AM to have my headlight replaced since it burned out on Sun. BRADLEY was the first one to work on it right away and he had it replaced on my Pacifica in a matter of minutes. The price was great and it works perfectly. I have just returned from Bauers after having a hitch put on for a bike rack on the car. It was put sooner than I expected which was a plus. Also, I found out that my original rack was set up incorrectly and he was able to correct the problems that I had with the bike rack. Amazingly, he did not charge me extra for the time and labor and explained what he was doing. Thank you so much and thanks to the Hitching Post for sending me to Bauers.

One of the few places in town that actually refills propane tanks ALL the way to 20lb max. Just pay for the propane you need. Also rented a trailer once, these guys are great. Stop reading and just go already :)

Our car broke down only 3 months past the warranty. We had it towed to Bauers Custom Hitches, and Mike and Brad went above and beyond to make sure it was repaired as quickly as possible. They really know what theyre doing over there. Moreover, they are very friendly and patiently answered every question we had--and we had a lot! Its a relief to get the car back, running as good as new. Huge thanks to everyone at BCH. Well be back!

I have been using Bauers CH for years to get propane refills, rent trucks, and now to get help with my trailer lights. I highly recommend Michael, the owner, to talk with concerning your trailer light needs. He is very knowledgable and willing to answer all of your questions without rushing you along. He knew exactly what was wrong with our lights, although his helper did not and even recommended work I did not need! So glad I talked with Michael! Leave yourself time to get helped once you are there because they are busy and are always helping others who arrived before you did.

Mike Bauer is the owner and has been through allot of family tragedy but is there day in and out talking with his family members and remembers your name if youre a regular. I appreciate that I am able to support a hands on family business. Also Minnoco is a Minnesota Fuel Distributor so profits stay local and frankly they are virtually always cheaper and I swear the station across the street is always 15c cheaper than others of the same Corp brand just bc they have to complete against Minnoco. 8 fuel grades too so literally every option available!Also the mechanic service is great. In the past they have helped me diagnose issues and even when I went in there requesting a part replacement they corrected my evaluation of the problem which resulted in a simple cleaning of the appropriate sensor.The operation is run Im such a way as to maintain reputation and keep customers for life by honest and straight forward business practices. 💪

I originally went to Bauers to have a hitch put on my car. From Jerry I learned that they also did repairs and servicing. I knew I needed a new water pump and spark plugs. He thoroughly explained everything and provided an estimate. The repairs were done on time and at the quoted price. The cost was 1/3 less than at the dealers too. I often feel you can get ripped off in auto repairs (especially if youre a women), but that was not the case at Bauers. Extremely friendly. I will definitely be going back for future services. I have a feeling that this is the type of place that wants to know their customers and will take the time to do so.

They stayed open late the night my daughters car ruptured a fuel line; got her fixed and back on the road in a timely manner for a reasonable price.
