Adventure rock was amazing. The walls were very tall as well as some shorter ones for that friend whos scared of heights. All the routes were very challenging and it was just as fun trying to climb up to the top using any colors you wanted. The bouldering section was just as great with a bunch of easy paths to take even if you arent great at climbing.
I really like coming here, all the staff are very nice and welcoming to questions for newbies. Its a great value, and there are rock walls for all levels of expertise. The only issue I have is that the COVID guidelines are pretty lax. We reserved a time to go and thought it was due to limited capacity- there were TONS of people there and social distancing was definitely not a priority.
Great friendly staff. Have walls for all skill levels. Have lots of different options, from a day pass with gear, to membership. One hell of a workout!!! Future pro pickle jar opener. 💪
Incredible gym Milwaukee is lucky to have. Membership is affordable comparably speaking to other gyms. Inside is large & clean. Has nice setups for solo climbing(auto belay & bouldering) as well as top-rope & lead climbing. Lots of friendly people & staff as well!
Fantastic service and amazing atmosphere. I almost plummeted to my death but, thankfully, a worker firmly caught me by buttock and gave my checks a firm squeeze, just like my uncle use to do before he was sent to jail. 5 out 5!
Climbing was super fun, and I donated a tiny bit of blood just at the very end.
Awesome place to climb. They have a few autobelayers so you dont need a belayer but youll be limited to a few climbs. Seems to be run pretty well. Place was clean. Staff was friendly. I would go again if I lived in the area.
Excellent facility. Loved the climbing routes! Helpful staff
I love this place. Climbing is fun, the people are fun. I really enjoy watching all the climbers in between my own climbing.
They play music too loud which makes it hard to communicate with my belay/climber. Pretentious staff. I really did enjoy coming to this gym. But being acosted daily from staff and customers questioning my intelligence despite having both top rope/lead tags and climbing safe and smart. It has ruined all of the fun i used to have. I will not be back.
Huge clean gym with great range of skill levels. Multiple autobelay routes and nice bouldering area if youre alone. Huge lead wall if youre not. Reservations are required for now
Fun time, nice staff, very clean and challenging courses. fun for all ages... you should go!
Lots of walls, really cool routes, kind, helpful and passionate staff. Had a friend who was new to the sport and we were trying to explain to her what a grigri was and how it worked. Went and asked a staff if they had one we could show her he took his personal grigri walked us over to one of the top ropes and did a full demo and explained pros and cons. Was a wonderful experience
Nice place. Very friendly staff
Great time, cant wait to go back
Nice facility but has been super busy.
A great place to have fun for the day, or visit three times a week for a workout. Cant recommend enough.
Love this place. Good range of difficulties. Everybody is very encouraging. Great for beginners and people wanting a challenge.
Great place to spend an afternoon. Good variety of difficulty for beginners to experienced climbers.
Fantastic atmosphere, chill as hell and excellent climbs. The people at the desk and the person who tested my friend and I were all cool and I am looking forward to heading over to Adventure Rock again!
Good climbing and good people!!
Love this gym. One of my favorites in the Midwest. Theyre lead wall has some really cool lines and are long. The bouldering is also great. A full variety of features and angles to climb on. Staff were super nice too. Cant wait to come back!
We love Adventure Rock! Its a great place to climb. And I discovered that climbers are really nice people to be around.
What a great exercise for indoors. Nice to see a more diverse crowd of people rock climbing.
Cool spot to climb and staff was very welcoming and friendly. Shout out Billy!
Awesome place! The classes for kids is super kid centric and they’re dealt with absolute kindness and knowledge! Thank you for inspiring the next gen of climbers! Allison is an absolute awesome leader!
Awesome staff, clean (even before covid) and so many resources. I personally prefer BK location but you will find something special in energy location for yout wether beginner or advanced climber.
Can be pricey if you go a lot. Join as a member of you can go often enough because this is a great workout. Its physically and mentally challenging, fun, and safe. First timers enjoy; they really set you up well. I know Im hooked.
From the moment I walked in people were super nice and helpful! There were routes for beginners to advanced and everything in between. Definitely a place I will be going back to with my kids!
So much fun and a great work out too!
Great prices, great facility, and fun routes to climb. I like the inverted spire feature in the bouldering area and I appreciate the variety of auto belays. Theres no separate studio, but they do offer yoga sessions, and they have a few machines and weights for training.
I am loving climbing more and more. This gym feels open and airy. It can be pretty crowded which means that if you are not belay certified, it can be a minute before you might get your turn on an auto belay. Not a big deal, I think, because it is really fun to watch other people climb and try to learn what they do with their routes and observe their techniques. The staff here is super professional, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Great place.
I really like rock climbing here. Its pretty pricey so I can only go with my friends who have memberships. If you have the money its a good place to climb.
When it comes to important places in MKE, Ad rock is nearly as important to me as my house. It’s such a clean facility with so many friendly faces ready to help. When I think MKE, I think Ad Rock. Thank you!! ✌🏼
I never figured that I would be the type of person that would join a gym, but I can’t get enough of this place. Climbing is a really challenging sport, but also very fun and very rewarding. What I heard, but didn’t really believe, is that people are so friendly here! If you are working on a route, there’s usually a few others waiting and watching and everyone is really open to giving and receiving advice and encouragement. I’m usually there “by myself” but its starting to feel like a community.
Ive been climbing at adventure rock for over 15 years between the 2 locations and absolutely love it. Yes they have a great facility, great climbing, bouldering, new routes, etc... But what really stands out is the amazing friendly staff they have and the community of climbers they support. I always know Ill have a great time with great friends, even if I just show up randomly. Thanks Adventure Rock for being awesome!
Best place to have fun and get a good sweat in.
Great place to go! I was bouldering upstairs, and was the best. There is enough rotation of the routes to keep things interesting.Best thing by far are the people and staff. Like minded people plus the great, friendly staff to encourage you to try anything. They are the main reason I will be going back!Low cost to get in the door, and a few hours of activities for everyone. (Young children too!)
Everyone here is always so friendly and helpful!! Especially Savath who helped me get my car keys out of the gutter when I had just parked. I seriously don’t know what I would have done without his help.
Thank you, Zach and Joey! I had an excellent experience climbing walls today. Very fun!
Awesome gym - never seen so many auto belays! Great for climbers of all levels. Tons of stuff to climb and never get bored. Love the layout and the changing area / locker room.
I love rock climbing but doing it here is just 10 times better then anywhere else. The atmosphere is great, the employees are very nice and the layout of the place is easy to get around
Clean, safe, friendly staff. Enjoyable classes for members. What more can you ask for?
This place is my portal to the world of exercise. Im not too fond of most forms of exercise, like lifting weights Climbing is a great way to exercise for me, because Im on a climbing team and my coach pushes me to try harder and harder to climb. But you dont need to pay the extra money to have someone else tell you something that you can do yourself. If you get a membership there, you dont have to just climb. There is a need nice little gym section, where there are pads, and pull-up bars, weights, etc. So if you want to get a generally all-body exercise that is also fun, just get climbing!
Adventure rock is the real deal. They have a beautiful facility in the heart of Milwaukees east side with everything a serious rock climber could want in a gym. Auto belay, top rope, lead routes, a large bouldering cave, a moon wall, even a small gym with bikes and weights. Most importantly the staff is top notch. They are all experienced climbers who always make safety a priority. I have taken two of their instructional classes and the instructors were very thourogh and informative.
I am a member at this location and frequent it on an almost daily basis. I have been able to visit a large number of climbing gyms in a large variety of locations this one ranks highly on my list of all time favorites. They offer a decent selection of Auto belays, top ropes, lead climbing, and a boldering area. They have good high walls and rotate their routes frequently. The staff is friendly and helpful and they offer a variety of instructional opportunity from beginner to advance. If youre a climber in Wisconsin there is no doubt in my mind this is your best option.
Fantastic facility! Very clean, friendly, and challenging. The routes are updated frequently and even show the date they were changed. Staff is very smart and attentive.Only downside is a small gap in the walls surrounding the locker room which can be seen from the front desk. So while you might be strapping yourself in your harness, you might make some nice eye contact with a staff member. Besides that, great place for a membership or a one time visit.
I was there for the first time 11/12/16. It was an amazing workout. $25 if youre not a member includes shoes and all you need to have a fun time with friends. The staff is mega friendly and very informative. Perfect time to go is early in the afternoon because it gets packed early evening. Have a good time!
Come in to see the crowds and week night and youll quickly realize this business really cares about its product and experience. Large boulder cage upstairs, lots of challenging walls. Beginners certainly have routes to climb, but I would say this gym aims to please people who really want to get into climbing more often.
20.00 for a drop in, for the day (with no leave-sies). Not too bad. good amount of walls for both tethered and free climbing. not sure how it rates for classes against Turner Halls classes but for free climb its pretty cool. They have a free climb upstairs and some exercise equipment (basic stuff) depending on the day it can be no-wait for all tethered climbs, some days you will need to wait a while, especially for the lower grades.
Adventure Rock is one of the better climbing gyms in the Midwest. Lots of routes that vary in height and difficulty, and plenty of auto belays. I love that I can go climb by myself and hook into an auto belay without worrying about finding a partner.
Great place to go and work out. Classes are very detailed and helpful. Staff is always friendly. I bring friends here all the time.
This place opened up right around the time I moved to NorCal 3 yrs ago... my roommates got me into bouldering, and now when I come home to visit— I make sure to go bouldering here as much as physically possible! The crowd is friendly, just as you’d imagine a room full of Wisconsinites to be, and the vibe is lax. Can’t wait to see the new gym opening up in the spring!
This place is the best! We started as beginners and have had a great time improving with all the options they have available. Great, friendly, knowledgeable staff! Great atmosphere! Love that the courses are always changing.
Staff and space, first class experience
Great gym! Love how open it is! There are a lot of different walls/ routes to pick and the bouldering area is great!
Adventure Rock is one of the best climbing gyms I have been to. There are so many different walls and routes to take, catering to people of all skill and ability levels. In addition to the harness climbing, there is also a bouldering wall for free-climbing which is a lot of fun.
I am a member and climb 3+ times a week. The atmosphere is welcoming for new climbers and experienced alike, and there are plenty of auto-belay routs if youre not checked out or climbing by yourself. Absolutely love this place!
Love this place! Its a great gym and the employees are very helpful and friendly
Great climbing gym for all levels! Also has a free climbing section which is a lot of fun to use!!
High quality climbing gym. The route setting is well done. There is a wide variety of top rope, auto belay, lead climbing and bouldering as well as yoga and weightlifting. The staff were very watchful and strict on the gym rules, which is probably a good thing.
Ive done competition climbing at almost every gym on the West Coast growing up and loved every moment. Then joined the Army Infantry, 6 years later, 3 deployments and leaving a decorated combat veteran. Decided to come to this gym to climb on a friends recommendation, when I asked questions about the leveling system being different that the west coast system I was used to I was mocked by two employees. I will not be returning, Im only giving two stars because the facility is well structured.Management followed up within 24hrs with apologies for the situation.
Nice and clean. They update the routes frequently and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful!
Adventure Rock is the go-to rock climbing gym in Milwaukee.I may be biased because it’s my home gym, but here are some reasons why I love it:- Ad Rock offers top-rope climbing and bouldering. They have auto belays too, which are great for anyone and everyone, especially new climbers, kids and for warming up.- You can get belay certified here (in fact you’ll be required to in order to move past auto belays for top-rope climbing) and you can get certified for lead climbing, too.- they reset routes pretty regularly (about a month or so at a time) but they do so interchangeably and not all at once. This is great because you get a good amount of time to project a route before it’s gone.- memberships are very reasonably priced, plus now they include free classes like yoga and other events. Memberships also include a free guest pass each month and monthly gear sales.- its a pretty large gym, open atmosphere and you won’t feel cramped inside- the staff is always friendly and willing to help/answer any questions you might have- you feel a sense of community when you go thereCons:- know the peak hours: typically after work around it can get really busy and you’ll be waiting to jump on a wall- kids team practices: this gym offers teams and practices which is great! But just know that they practice during these peak hours throughout the year so the groups will be in the weight lifting area and on walls running drills for extended lengths of time. Not a big deal, but frustrating if you’re waiting for a wall/workout space, etc.Tips:- if you looking to start climbing and you don’t want to be there during busy hours, a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon/evening are a great bet for less people being around.
The people that work here are really mellow and cool dudes/gals. Definitely doesnt give you the elitist vibe that can sometimes come with these places.
Great climbing community for new and experienced climbers alike!
Definitely recommend going will be going again
Nice BIG space; great variety of climb choices for all levels of abilities. Auto rope lines are quick and easy for do it by yourself climbs. Lots of wall space with belay lines ready for those with a buddy. Upstairs has a wonderful overhang to climb on freestyle, a great workout!
Cool place very nice people working there. Nice location.
My first trip to Ad Rock was watching my 7 yr old neighbor scramble like a little beetle up the walls. I came back with my grandchildren & spent the day there watching them get better & better. There are all ages here. The experienced climbers seem to have a look - strong shoulders, lean muscles, lots of strength. The guides are great & answer all qs thoroughly. Inexpensive & you can climb at their other location for free if you can get there the same day! The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because . . . Well, Im not sure, except that there is always room for improvement.
Great walls of all levels to climb! Friendly staff, too. When its busy, though, its harder to get to all the walls you want to climb, so I wish there was more of it.
Great place to go climb. I wish this location had different rooms/nooks like their other location. However walls are real tall and this place can accommodate scores of people without feeling crowded. Glad to see the gym doing so well. Staff is great too!
Beautiful, big gym! So nice to have a rock climbing place on the East Side! The routes change regularly to keep things fresh and the staff are very friendly and entertaining. Tons of auto-belays in case you have to climb alone or dont have your belay certification. I now go every week!
Excellent gym with a wide variety of bouldering, top rope and lead climbing. I was was required to take a belay test my first time visiting, the staff member was very focused on our safety. After passing, we had a ton of fun!
Super cool gym. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Fun environment. They do a good job switching up the walls every two weeks to a month, so theres always a new challenge waiting for you.
My kids had a blast here. Its a lot of fun to be able to combine exercise and a good time with friends. All skill levels are able to be challenged with the variety of difficulty ratings in the climbing walls.
It was fun. Its all about rock climbing here. I came with a group but didnt want to climb, and they were cool with letting me just chill on the inside with the group. They have benches scattered around. So even though I didnt climb, I was still part of the action.
Went on a Saturday afternoon had to wait to climb some of the areas because of peak times but overall it was great. Can’t recommend this place enough. Try it for a new workout experience.
Ive traveled globally to a lot of climbing gyms, and this place is top 10 for sure. The staff is fun and encouraging, but sometimes they forget to train newbies during their orientation on common climbers courtesy. It can get annoying. But great to see the place is busy and thriving!
I love this space dedicated to challenging routes. The people are always nice and friendly too!
Love the exercise and feeling I get at the top. Want to get a membership but is pricey. Will be worth it yes!
Cant say enough good things about this place. Always clean, they change the routes regularly so you dont get bored, the staff is incredibly nice and helpful.Between this location and Brookfield, this is the one to go to if you want to climb taller, harder, and more challenging routes. There are also significantly more boulder problems at this location.
Great climbing gym! Very clean, safe, and friendly environment. It is a great place to start learning how to climb, and to grow as a climber! The staff is very helpful and polite!
Went with a few friends for the first time and it was a blast. Went through a short information orientation by Jonah and we climbed multiple different courses and walls. I suggest getting the climbing shoes if you really want to get into it. Super fun - Check it out with friends or family.
Great addition to the east side of Milwaukee. The staff here is very friendly and Ive enjoyed going so far. Its a big location that will keep you interested with new climbing routes installed regularly.
