When I first bought my wedding dress I loved how the sample fit me. However, when my actual dress came a few months later I was having serious second thoughts because it did not look great on me: the top was too big, it bunched in the middle, and the bottom was a little too snug. I was really down about it but was recommended to bring my dress to Mila, and I am so happy I did! Mila worked her magic and after a few sessions of alterations, the dress fit like a glove and I felt beautiful in it! My daughter learned she was having her Junior prom within short notice. When she found her dream dress, it naturally needed some alterations, however it is heavily beaded with a train and the dress itself was costly like many others. In order to do beading like hers, it takes a lot of experience, knowledge, and precision. Milavi brought us in on short notice on Easter day and we picked up the dress today! Amazing is an understatement! This woman put her time and craft into hand doing these beads and its perfect! Very highly recommended!!

I needed advice on a potential wedding dress. I asked if I could email or text her a picture as I live over an hour away. She insisted I come to her shop. Since she had good reviews I obliged. When I arrived & showed her a picture of the dress she insisted anything could be tailored. She didn’t allow me to ask any questions. She wouldn’t even provide me a price range. She was a extremely rude and insulting. She completely lacks interpersonalskills and is honestly one of the most impolite people I’ve ever met. It was a waste of time and a terrible experience.

Mila did a fabulous job on the alterations to my mother of the groom dress. The dress was very full and needed hemming as well as alterations to the bodice. I just wanted to give a 5 star review on my bridal gown alterations. I went there in 2020 to have my gown altered and Mila was responsive and quick! COVID then hit and i had to move my wedding numerous times to which Mila was understanding. Mila kept my dress safe at her store and was accommodating with the change. Mila is a saint. Not only is she a talented seamstress, but she has a heart of gold.Mila transformed my hand beaded/full lace Justin Alexander gown. I purchased my gown in a petite size, but it apparently meant it was a “petite” from the waist down. Mila removed about 6inches of lace from a very detailed chest/neckline. Once removed she then HAND beaded the crystals back onto the dress. She meticulously followed the pictures she took and when it was all completed I was in awe. I brought my “Mother of the Bride” gown to Milavi to be shortened. I was afraid that since it had a scalloped lace bottom she would tell me I just had to get high heels. Luckily for me that was not her answer. She skillfully removed the lace, shortened the lining and the lace overlay and then reattached the scallop bottom. It came out perfect! She also could tell that the shoulders needed a slight adjustment and now my dress looks like it was made just for me!!! I am so glad I found her-she is professional and talented !

I was very happy I came across Mila and chose to have her alter my wedding dress. I had scheduled my appointment shortly before everything shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we werent able to keep our original plan for my 1st fitting. Mila kept in touch with me and assured me that as soon as she was able to open, she would get my dress done for me...and she did exactly that.During our 1st appointment she had me try on the dress and went over everything that she thought needed to be done in order to make the dress fit like it was custom made for me. I didnt feel any pressure or feel like she was trying to sell me on more work than what needed to be done. I had to have the whole dress shortened (5 layers of lining and tulle), shorten the straps (which required her to work by hand as it was very intricate appliques and buttons on the shoulder), and sewing in bra cups since the illusion mesh of the back of the dress was low. She is extremely efficient and you can tell she takes pride in what she does. Between my 1st appointment and when I actually picked up my dress, the turnaround was less than 2 weeks! I was so thankful she could get me in and have everything completed in time, especially with the time crunch that the pandemic created. Thank you, Mila. I made 2 appointments here for alterations for my wedding gown. My wedding is in 2 weeks. The first time the dress ordered arrived 2 small after waiting 6 weeks for it to arrive. 4 1/2 weeks before my wedding this designer told me she could not do what I was asking her to do. My grandmother is a seamstress and I knew that what I was asking for could be done but it was clear that Milavi wasnt willing to do what I asked and led me to believe that the entire dress would have to be reconstructed. I was so nervous when I left that I purchased another dress. The dress just got here and it fits great!...but not exactly what I want for my wedding day. Today I went to Milavi again strictly because she has such good reviews. Again today it was clear that she just did not want to help me. Again she offered something other than what I wanted. This time she told me what she could do to save me money, like I would go cheap with my wedding gown alterations. Honestly I really wanted to give this place a good review, but she simply did not want my patronage. However when pulling out of Milavis parking lot I found KARLENE LINDSAY DESIGNS 429 CAMPBELL AVE WEST HAVEN CT. Immediately upon calling the vibe was entirely different than Milavi. Not only was she pleasant and helpful she knew exactly what I wanted and had no problem accepting the challenge...and I was literally floored by how reasonably priced Karlene is! Be forewarned, Milavis service is not all it has cracked up to be!

Due to COVID-19 i was unable to get my bridesmaid dress fitted for a wedding July 5th. I scheduled an appointment with Mila to see if she would be able alter my dress within a small time frame. In fact, Mila had my dress done in just two weeks and it fit perfectly when i picked it up. The dress originally was huge on me with zero structure to it, Mila shortened the length and added in cups. Milavi was amazing. I had to special order a suite for a wedding online. Needless to say I received it less than a week before I had to be on a flight for the wedding and it was a train wreck. I took all of my suits, and some jackets that needed repairs here. The suits fit perfectly, and the jackets are like new. Mila is so friendly, helpful, and is an excellent tailor. I’ll be taking all of my clothes here for alterations from now on.

My bridesmaids dress was at least two sizes too big, Mila not only tailored my dress to perfection, she also took the time to replace the bulky zipper on the dress to make it not stand out. I highly recommend Mila for anyone interested in having their clothes altered. I had two Indian gowns that were several sizes too big, uneven, and poorly constructed. Mila had to take the gowns in on several sides and even had to reconstruct one gown. In the end, they looked and fit perfect, as if they were custom made for me. Thank you for such meticulous work!!

What a great experience for my young skater. Mila altered a dress for my daughter for a figure skating show. We had a sugar plum fairy ballet dress (which was traditionally longer), but needed one for figure skater. Mila did an amazing job transforming the dress in a very efficient way. Mila is amazing! She was so nice and accomodating of when I needed 2 dresses done, and when I picked them up they were perfect! Her work is truly an art!

I picked up my future daughter in law’s wedding dress 3 days ago and it is magnificent. A beautiful, multi layered gown, with a very intricately, heavily beaded bodice. We knew the dress had to be taken in at the bodice and were very nervous about the beading. We need not have been. Mila took every tiny bead, pearl, sequin off with great care and did a beautiful job fitting the dress for the bride. when the dress fit, the length of the multiple layers perfect, and the bustle created, Mila spent 10 hours replacing each and every bead along the side bodice seams individually. One would never know this dress was altered. It is perfect.For Mila, It truly is a labor of love and a work of art.To know Mila is to be immediately put at ease by her warm, yet professional demeanor. Having had previous experiences with my 2 daughters at Kleinfelds and Vera Wang in NYC, There is no comparison. If you really want to look good in a suit, you must visit Master Tailor Mila at Alterations and Design Milavi. I had a suit sized 46 where the sleeves needed to be lengthened about 2 inches, and the pants were size 40, but my waist is 36. She did an amazing job and after her alteration my suit looks like it was made for me. Thanks Mila, I will be back with more alterations for you.

Mila is the absolute best! I found her shop in a rush, and she never made me feel like a bother, and truly cared to help me with my dress alterations. I came in her shop pregnant with a bridesmaid dress needing quite a bit of altering as the baby was being born 5 days before the wedding. Mila insisted on bringing the dress back to her when i got out of the hospital for correct alterations. I literally got discharged after my csection and went to her shop. She was so accommodating given my situation and had me rest, sitting often to properly fit the dress. The dress was done in less than 2 days and fit perfectly! Mila is amazing!! She went totally above and beyond and these little things truly made a difference in my days after giving birth and i truly appreciated it. I will use Alterations and Design for everything going forward. Amazing place, amazing woman!

Was quoted $18 to hem the leg length, 1in on a pair of brand new Levi Jeans. Called my go to dry cleaner and they are charging me half the price $9. To much wasted time

Make sure to ask for prices before you make the trip. She tried to charge me $175 to shorten a dress, and then was pushy and rude in justifying that price.
