They took my Mercedes in right away (where as other shops couldnt even look at the car for 3 weeks) Diagnosed, repaired, and drove away knowing my vehicle was safe again in under 1 week time. I hate to leave a bad review… Paid about $4,000 for an engine repair. I was happy with the repair until I noticed my coolant kept leaking. I had my father in law check the leak and it turns out they left me with a ripped tube with old rust in it. On top of that, we suspect they took the new alternator and starter we replaced from my old engine.

I have used Mattie’s in the past and they have always been professional and helpful. Yesterday I drove over and advised Matt (the other Matt) That I had an object in my tire. I told him I could leave the car and they could get to it whatever they could. When He told me they were crazy busy, I figured he would tell me to just leave it or come back tomorrow. Instead he said let me do it right away. He then proceeded to immediately take care of it and did not charge me anything. This is one of the best customer experiences I’ve ever had and want to thank them

I have an older Volkswagen that I plan to keep forever as a second car, so I like to keep it in great shape. Matties has been servicing it for three years now and have always been reliable, respectful, and great at communicating. I really appreciate that they remember its a spare car, so they give me realistic options based on how the car is used. And they have also been terrific at repairing random things (e.g. window button that kept getting stuck). As a woman, I also appreciate that they 1) have women employees and 2) respect my level of knowledge about cars (which is practically zero) without mansplaining or being condescending. Ill never take this car anywhere else!

My Volkswagen needed a repair that many shops refused to even attempt. They had to order a special part and had it ordered and repaired within 24 hours. The cost was hundreds of dollars less than the couple of shops that did quote the work. I would definitely go back.

Got my alignment done at Mattie’s for my bmw F30 & was my first experience there. My car is lowered but they were able to use wood blocks/wedges to get my bumpers to clear the alignment lift. Shop is SPOTLESS. The shop is impressively clean and you can tell they take pride in their work and don’t cut corners. This is a high quality shop & I will definitely be a returning customer.

Im very sad that I have to leave a less than positive review, since the quality of work done, timeliness, price, and friendliness of the staff deserve 5 stars. However I cant ignore the fact that both times I entered the shop lobby (on separate days), none of the staff were wearing masks. CT is a state that mandates masks in businesses, and this shop does have clear signage requiring customers to wear masks, so I was very surprised to see no employees wearing them. When I asked about this, I was told that since the staff is behind plexiglass, they dont wear them. The plexiglass of course helps, but the air can circulate above, below, and around the sides of the partition, and every other business I have been to (including other mechanics and my own workplace) still uses masks in conjunction with plexiglass, so this was very unsettling to me. In addition, none of the staff driving customers vehicles were wearing masks or gloves in the vehicles. The person ringing me up DID put on a mask when I asked, so I appreciated that, but it is clearly not common practice for the staff to wear them.Both of these things together make me concerned that this business is not taking steps to protect customers OR their own staff during the current pandemic. If I had known this before I brought my car here, I would have gone elsewhere, because I felt very unsafe. Im honestly shocked that no other reviewers have mentioned it, so I thought someone should say something in case this is a concern to others who are vulnerable to COVID. So many 5-star reviews make it clear this business does good work, so I hope they will improve their COVID safety in the future.

These guys are the best. My car wouldnt start this morning, they dispatched a tow truck immediately and diagnosed the issue within 2 hours. I have a 20 year old Mercedes SLK that no mechanic wanted to touch because of the age and type of car. The only place that offered to dive in and look after the car was Matties Service Center. They got the issues with the car resolved, went the extra mile to get me a new key made, and did it all with a smile. The pricing was fair and reasonable. I also have a another car that needed brakes, rotors and had a check engine light on. Matt had me drop the car off at night and had looked at the car by very early the next morning. He had a prepared plan of action, a fair quote, and dove in to do the work after speaking to me and getting approval. The car ended up needing other repairs, and needed them done quickly so I could get the emissions done. Matties went on the hunt for a hard to get part, got it in next day, and repaired the car. He even came and picked the car up from me and took it for emissions today. You dont get this type of customer service and kindness from many places, but Matt and his team have been great. He also takes the time to explain issues in laymans terms. Very happy with my experiences there so far!

Came in on Monday afternoon with a front bearing that urgently needed replaced. Parts were ordered promptly. Part was replaced, additional parts were needed and were ordered and installed even after closing time in order to get me back on the road again. The tech helping me was very helpful, polite, and professional.The waiting room and shop area was very clean tidy.Great repair shop !

Matties was [immediately] responsive for my transmission that needed to be replaced. They jumped to action, even though it was a big job to take on. When they called me with replacement options, they were not pushy to buy the most expensive part because it may be better. They supported my decision on my choice. They also said the car was done on Friday, however they said due to safety and wanted to make sure the car was working properly, they wanted to hold it until Monday (closed on weekends) to make sure to run it again and ensure it works. They could have easily given me the keys on Friday, but wanted to make sure their repair stood. They also kept me informed, communicated the issue and how they will resolve it. Theyre also pretty cool! :) We will definitely be taking our business back there as well as referring them to friends and family. Wish you were open on the weekend! :)

Awesome And Quick Service

When my battery died, I called AAA. They came to my house and installed a new battery. However, my fog lights were not working.I brought it to Nissan in Milford. They wanted $360.Quite dumbfounded, I declined.I then brought my car to Matties. The mechanic told me when my battery was replaced, they did not hook up all the wires to the battery. That was the reason my dog lights were not working.This experience did nothing but put trust in Matties ethics and business and will return for all service needs.

Mattie’s told me what exactly the issue was and how much it would cost before hand and were very accurate with the price. They had my clutch replaced in two days and even charged less then the estimate. My whole family has been going to Mattie’s for years for car repairs and they do a great job every single time

I brought my Mercedes in for an Oil Change. They were significantly less than the dealer and very helpful. They checked everything over and gave some updates on when I would need brakes replaced, etc. Where another service shop tried to sell me on replacing my brakes, they informed me on what the wear looked like and said I have time before requiring replacement. Spoke to me about options for when I do replace them but werent pushy. Definitely call ahead to schedule an appointment because they will ensure they have adequate time to look everything over.

Fantastic Service. My sons car broke down while traveling 95. They picked the car up and replaced the alternator in the same day. Very honest, very upfront, and the son and front end lady are very professional in a honest way.They do great work. Unlike pretty much every other shop Ive been to. There also the cheapest quote in town on just about anything (even if their hourly rate seems intimidating they dont exaggerate how long it takes to fix your stuff unlike other places). For example, they charged me $180 for a front break job on my car with me buying the parts. Firestone wanted $450(and wouldnt take my parts), meineke wanted $525 and Monroe muffler well they tried to bs me so I hung up. And everyone was trying to tell me it was a 3-6 hour job. Matties took either a hour or a half hour. But this was the same story with my past vehicles too such as a heater core job, head gaskets, transmission swap, fixing my front end, rear end fix e.c.t.... So sum of the story is go here.

My husband and I went to Matties to have repair work done. We got sold a lemon that we only had for a year and 3 to 4 months out of that year our truck was parked. It wasnt running right and we had to save money before bringing it anywhere. We ended up having to get a transmission, engine and timing chains replaced. The staff there were amazing and very compassionate. We paid wayyyyy less then the dealer and they made sure the transmission and engine they ordered has warranties on them. They also made sure we looked at how bad the engine was before moving forward. I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to have work done to go there. Ive never went to a place that cared more about customers and their best options then money. Thank you again!

Matt always goes above and beyond to answer my questions. He always recommends to drop by for them to take a look no matter the issue.
