I would strongly suggest to the community that if you are seeking mental health services, and seeking to grow, heal, thrive, and have a team that fully supports you and your decisions- seek any other facility except for this one. As someone who attended their services for nearly 10 years, all I can testify to is how Newport Mental Health significantly lacked in transparency, integrity, and consistency. The services and treatment I received was not like the services they boast about in their own mission statement. Several months before leaving NMH, I had asked to obtain doctor notes and a list of my active diagnoses (for personal record). This information only revealed to me how my prescriber(s) took it upon themselves to document information and diagnoses that were blatantly incorrect and completely different from what I had been discussing with them in my monthly appointments. Please, please seek services somewhere that will actually support you, be 100% honest with you, and help you thrive in your recovery.

I am a survivor of an abusive past and came here for some emotional support. The case managers here are unprofessional and make a mockery of you. It saddens me to think that this is an establishment that is designed to help. Instead of trying to avoid making you uncomfortable, some of them actually use what they know triggers you to see if you react or feel more anxious. After my last meeting with them it sent me into such a deep depression that I couldn’t leave my house or even my bed. I’m not going to go somewhere that makes me feel worse instead of better.
