When I became a student of Master Rod at 11 years old, in 1991, my mother had just gone through an extremely difficult divorce which resulted in her being a single mother alone with my younger brother and I -- two EXTREMELY mischievous and trouble prone children. Master Rod not only gave us incredible martial arts training which resulted in a state championship; he was the only person who was able to effectively provide effective support with instilling discipline, self-confidence, and respect for others into my brother and I. To state I am grateful to Master Rod for his teachings in martial arts and how to apply them to all walks of life -- would be a tremendous understatement.I have witnessed Master Rod change the life of many other friends and family members over the last 26 years. He continues to make a tremendous positive impacts in the lives of his students with martial arts coaching, training, and mentorship of the highest ethical caliber, but not limited to only physical self-defense. By far the best Martial Arts School we have encountered here in the USA! Very nice s, down to earth, respectful and at the same time strict! Thanks to this Taekwondo class my son is slowly getting over his shyness and not being able to look people in the eye, you can see his confidence building up! I was a blackbelt myself back in the day, and I can’t wait to try out a class! I strongly highly recommend this school and encourage anyone to try it out!

Maser Rod taught me more than just Shim Myung do, he taught me how to respect myself, how to show respect towards others, and most importantly, how to share this knowledge with others. Ever since we put our twins in Shim Myung Do we have notice a great difference in our children. The confidence and respect that has grown in them is amazing. Before they were very shy to the point where they would not even say hello to others when being spoken to. Now they are the ones to say hello when entering a room with people. At the beginning I was looking for a martial arts school for my son in order to get him in shape, after a very long research I found this school with very dedicated instructors and Master Rod, who is one of the best martial arts teacher I ever known. After a year almost the whole family is practicing Shim Myung Do, becoming an important part of our lives not only for getting in shape but for mental education, discipline and values.

As an instructor, Ive learned so much about how to communicate with children. Its so much fun to work here with Master Rod.
