Big fan of this gym. The staff is great - very kind and all around good energy when you walk through the doors. The classes have a variety for any level of fitness and wonderful options for the kiddos i.e. sports leagues, after school, and love the daycare option for when I dont have a sitter. Plus its very nostalgic for me having the best memories of my youth take place at the Y with my family. This will be my forever gym!
I love this gym! Its clean. The times I go its not crowded. The people at the door recognize me! The staff is highly knowledgeable about working out to rehabilitate injuries. I am grateful for the employees who disinfect the machines. I enjoy the Zumba and strengthening classes and the ability to use either room when class isnt in session. The sitting area downstairs is comfortable.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this gym!
I love it at the Y. always clean always organized. BUT WE NEED SAUNAS. a hip trust machine would be nice too
Great classes and a lot of machines. Only bad thing which made me give 4 stars and should give 2 is that you have to book a class. Big you forget you can’t workout. Wish it was first come first serve like it use to be
Wonderful supportive staffClean attractive facilityFriendly kind participantsThe YMCA is an amazing place
I tried to cancel my memebrship over the phone and they would not let me. I dont have the time to go to the gym anymore and that is why I called to cancle. But now they tell me I have to go in person to cancle my memebrship. What a complete waste of my time. The YMCA is over priced!!! I went to another YMCA with so much more (pool, steam room and sauna,) and paid a fraction of the price. The YMCA should lower their prices considering they dont not offer these amenaties.
Excellent summer camp program!Every day was my child best day ever!
The work out area is very relaxed but clean. The staff is friendly and always ready to answer a work out question. thank you
Great place, community and family oriented, highly recommended.
The place is extremely clean and with amazing classes plus the front desk staff is wonderful especially Pursha, She always is so welcoming
Absolutely love the YMCA & all it’s activities and programs. Our children live it as well!!!
Stephen has been AMAZING with our teens! They absolutely LOVE their sessions with him and they do not normally like working out. He connects with them and comes up with wonderful ways to get them moving and having fun!
Love my YMCA. The staff is excellent. Steven Schwartz my personal trainer is very accommodating and knowledgeable and Leah is always helpful and smiling. Thank you for making me feel welcome.
The Y is a welcoming community of people of all ages. The gym is well-run, clean and the equipment is well-maintained. I am grateful for the YMCA South Dade Family Center. I enjoy going there and working out. I look forward to the day it is safe to bring back more of the pre-Covid classes.
Clean and very well maintained.
It is very energetic, it has gyms, baketball courts, even a kids zone for parents to leave kids and there is PE for kids in monday and thursday.
Great place to be at. Family oriented.
Most of the time during my membership at YMCA South Dade was non-eventful. When they continued to charge my credit card, through the gym was closed from March to June, I thought it was a mistake. When I called in June and spoke with Charlie he informed they do that because they are a Non-Profit. I dint really understand what that had to do with charging for services not rendered, but didnt question him further. I asked to cancel my membership and was told it would be done. This is September, and i continue to be billed. I called Charlie and now he started to give me the run-around and transfer me to others. I feel as though Im living through Ballys, Ala, 1995. We all know what happened to Ballys. I assume that since YMCA is a Non-Profit, which in some cases is code for Not paying taxes, that wont occur. Get it together YMCA South Dade!
Amazing community center to work out and work out of.
YMCA at The Falls fantastic in the way that separated all day equipment also keep up with the maintenance thats absolutely fantastic and the customer service fantastic they treat us like were human beings
YMCA was essential in providing care during this COVID19 pandemic while I had to work as an essential worker. They provided a safe place for my son to be while I worked. During electronic learning The YMCA was available for a safe, secure place with WiFi for the First weeks of school. I can’t say thank you enough.
It was really good
Great place for the kids to learn and play!
Clean, machines uptodate,Front desk very friendly and quick response.
We love working out here, and the kids zone is the best too!
Im such a HUGE fan of this place! It has everything and the staff is absolutely joyful and professional!! John does a great job running the sports programs. (Both of my kids are in basketball there). Jeremy is such an AWESOME representative of what a YMCA ambassador should be! Right right my kids are training with Coach Steve and hes OUTSTANDING!I love to work out there and that they have childcare. Overall this place is an A++
My utmost favorite things about this YMCA is the quality of the offerings and staff. People are intelligent, friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. Additionally, the classes offered are available at various times to serve all kinds of individuals and the Instructors are the best Ive seen! Extremely happy and have recommended to many people already!
Great place to workout. One of my kids also plays in a basketball league and has a great time. Members and staff very friendly. Facility is cleaner than most. John Tyson and staff that run sports programs (like basketball) run top-notch programs and are super helpful. Highly recommend. (Only thing Id possibly change would be to have longer hours in evening on weekends)
Excellent gym/facilities, very professional, clean, and well managed. Staff is friendly and courteous 😀🏋️
Has all the equipment you need + an Indoor basketball court. If you don’t take the (included) classes, you can definitely find a cheaper gym. A membership without the classes is not an option. Windows in front of treads, good sunrise view. Front staff nice. Depending on when you go, it can be insanely busy. Early morning is best. Basketball court taken by youth sports all day Saturday. They have a schedule posted by the door for when it’s open. Def bring your own basketball. They have them but they’re in poor condition. Closes @ 5 on sat & sun. No sauna. Equipment not dirty, but not clean. Family oriented. Overall, it’s good if this is what you’re looking for!
The gym is a Large area with a lot of machines. There is no pool. Friendly environment.
This is a great place to exercise for the entire family. Great sports and physical education for the children and amazing gym installation. The staff is super friendly and professional. They have all sorts of classes for all levels of workouts. Highly recommend!
Clean nice and spacious .. felt safe even considering covid
The people here are super nice! There are many classes geaared for older adults-even handicapped. All the instructors are helpful and the staff too. Plenty of parking; nice grounds. I totally enjoy going there!Pat Sutton
I had no idea this place existed. Its really nice and impressive for a community funded center. Sponsored by the heat so heat logos and players are everywhere.
Love to workout at the YMCA.Its clean and friendly staff
BEST family sports, gym, and activity center in all of Miami!
So far a great first week for me and the family. Ive tried out several gyms around Miami, and this is by far my favorite. The average Gym etiquette here is good, and the equipment is sufficient. I havent tried the classes yet, but there are plenty to choose from!
I like the YMCA. My only issue is that, after coming here on/off for 15+ years, they still ONLY have a total of TWO stationary bikes. The old folks like to monopolize these bikes, leisurely watching TV while gently (and oh so slowly) pedal the bike. Some of these seniors come to the gym in dress slacks and black socks. It’s such that it makes it impossible for anyone trying to push themselves to have to invest 2 hours between waiting for the equipment to become available and then actually getting a workout in, which hardly makes sense and undermines any value in the membership. I can’t afford to take a whole day off waiting for grandpa to cycle 1/4 mile in 45 minutes in his Sunday School outfit. The answer isn’t to bother any member, but the YMCA should have LONG AGO invested in 1-2 more stationary bikes (not the recumbent bikes, which are a waste and for lazy people).
Very beautiful and clean location in South Miami, everything from the facilities, to the grounds, to the architecture. This is a top YMCA location, wow! I came through when traveling Miami and I would definitely return to this location. I have to take a point off, as the website can use a lot of work, and the chat representative on their site seems to have signed me up on their calling list. Thats funny, because I just asked the chat rep how much a day pass cost at this location, and specifically told them NOT to put me on a calling list. They basically did the reverse of everything I asked. So, to other travelers and Y-lovers, just saying to skip the site and go directly to the location. Youll not be let down.
HIGH QUALITY, DIVERSE GROUP CLASSES; EQUIPMENTS IN GOOD CONDITION; PEOPLE ARE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER LIKE IN A FRIENDLY COMMUNITY ”
No pool when I went! How are you not going to have a pool in Miami? Looks big from the outside but, its only mid size at best on the inside. The clientele is standoffish and not friendly. The locker room is small and awkwardly arranged. No whirlpool. The main attraction is the indoor basketball court. The weight/cardio room is average. The stretching area appeared to be designed by someone who doesnt stretch. Expensive membership $$ for what little they offer. The membership program is a welfare system to subsidize the people who say they cant pay. I gave it 2 stars because, its new not because its nice.
This YMCA doesnt ever answer their work phones. Very unprofessional.
Just went to work out as a guest, and enjoyed the view from the treadmills. A really nice place to work out.
Well i’m 12 and i do basketball at the ymca. i just finished up the winter basketball season and i was the only girl on my team. i WISH that their was a girls league but that’s honestly completely out of their control bc obviously they can’t control how many girls sign up. so there sadly aren’t enough girls to even make one team. :(. but my concern is why are their only two months for the basketball season? it’s january and february and then we have to wait FOUR months till july? heck no. personally, i don’t have a problem with this, but my coach was outraged by the fact that all of the new kids were stuck on one team and then all of the other kids had been playing many years with each other. i wasn’t really mad abt that cuz i actually turned out to like my teammates, but i totally understood my coaches anger. she said that she emailed the people in charge many times, but no response. she said bc of that and the league being so competitive that she was not going to be coaching next season, and i really liked her, so good job ymca. i guess other than that the basketball was still really fun and i enjoyed making new friends especially since it was boys. the gym is also nice and my mom does the gym and spinning classes a lot. the bathroom r pretty clean and i shower there usually. so yea make the seasons a lil bit longer plz tho 🥺
A great place for the kids to socialize, learn, and release energy.
Great family gym. Weve been going there for almost 4 years. My children are well cared for and know the staff well. Facilities are clean and well cared for.
My son loved the YMCA Summer camp, he was happy everyday when I pick him up. the staff is so helpful and friendly, I highly recommend it
I love the family atmosphere. Everyone is so nice. The facility is very well kept. The childcare service is a great benefit and I’m so thankful for it. The group classes are well organized and available at all times and days. I adore Leo Shama. She is absolutely the best instructor. She makes laugh and motivates me so much. The front desk staff, specially Purusha, is so sweet and helpful. She definitely goes the extra mile to help us and calls me by my name!! I love her!
Love this place!
The staff is the best. Very helpful, courteous and friendly.
Poor management of the facilities, basketball courts are always dirty and a hazard. Machines in weight room broken for weeks. Only positive are the youth staffers in purple shirts, and if they become friendly with you, will reveal how incompetent their bosses are. Place is run like a public highschool, not worth the extreme fee.
Very clean and a staff member is always walking around and wiping and sanatizing the equipment
Ive been going to the YMCA for years now. My first impression of the gym was that it was smaller, but still packed a punch. There were enough machines for everyone to use and there are a variety of classes for people to try out. On the positive, the staff is typically friendly, the ladies in the reception desk are very cordial, and the facility is pretty clean. My issues arise with other aspects of the gym. The gym hosts many youth programs such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, etc. These programs are lucrative to the Y since members pay an additional fee to place their children in these programs. However, because of these programs take up space in the facility, it leaves very little time for other types of activities that other paying members want to utilize. Most of the year, the basketball program runs until 9PM. I play in the pickup volleyball games. This means that we have an hour before the gym closes to lift up the basketball hoops and set up the volleyball nets. By the time we have the teams set up, we have about 45 minutes to play. This is available to us twice a week. Were not even allowed to set up the nets to have a pickup game on the weekends. I do feel as though if the gym would be opened until 11, they would be able to have their paid youth programs and also facilitate other programs to paying members such as their pickup basketball and volleyball. There are other aspects that need to be improved. Theres only one staff member on the court floor, and theres no way one member can set up the volleyball nets. So the players have to help with the set up if we want enough time to play. I didnt realize that part of our expensive membership included setting up and removing equipment. And when we needed new balls for the court, it took over 6 months before they were supplied. During this time, we used member supplied volleyball since the Y did not have any that were usable. As of now, the balls are starting to deteriorate, but the Y hasnt done anything to advance replacing the balls. Also, one set of poles have been broken for over 6 months now (its 11/17 at the time of this writing), and the nets are in need of being replaced.Probably the worst part about this whole facility is that its almost impossible to talk to a manager. Over the years, the multiple times I have asked, I was given a business card and told to send an email (since I usually go to the gym in the evening, Im always told that there is no manager in the evening). Ive sent numerous emails, and have not received a single reply. I have tried to go to the gym during business hours and have tried to talk to a manager and have been given every excuse in the book why I cant talk to a manager. Customer service with most of the employees is great, but good luck trying to talk to a manager or getting anything proactive done in the gym.I continue to go to the Y because of the location and other family members do utilize the nice parts of the gym (classes & machines/weights area), but as a whole, Im pretty disappointed with the facility because the negatives seem to outweigh the positives at this point. Simple customer service is a mandatory for any business.
Great gym with wonderful, attentive staff. It is a pleasure to walk in and be greeted by name every day. I highly recommend it. The environment is very positive, clean, and organized.
Love this gym and the members. A very relaxing environment to get your fitness on. Lots of cardio machines.
Lots of classes for seniors. They have classes for all level of people. Plenty of machines and free weights.
Here is my story. I signed up for a membership. The front desk associate informed me that I would not be charged to my bank account till the 1st of the month. I decided to cancel it because I found a fitness center much closer to my home and a lot more reasonably priced. I called the center 5 days before my membership kicked in and informed them that I wanted to cancel my membership. They informed me that I could cancel but had to come in in person and that this month would be charged to my bank account because I had to cancel 10 days before my membership starting date; mind you my membership hadnt begun yet. This gym left a bad taste in my mouth. I do not recommend joining this center.
Was just there to see my daughters volleyball game and arrived late. The short blonde staffer was quite rude. No greeting but a simply get out. I cant support an agency that hires mean and disrespectful staff.
This YMCA location is just great the staff makes you feel at home. Great classes a lot of variety!
Was a member for while, was only impressed by the girls who greeted you at to front(awesome! ). Limited free work out space, missing/ broken equipment, filthy restrooms, shower in men stall not draining correctly. Need to workout before local high schoolers are let out, or you can forget about the free weights. I would suggest Youfit and save yourself some serious $$, or a home gym.
Love this place much better than la fitness. better spin classes and no traffic issues getting there.
Great family gym 9 year olds get to workout which is so important for me. My kids don’t like being around the babies down stairs.
Great pleasant facility. Friendly helpful staff. Just missing a pool.
Jeramy goes out of his way to make my children feel welcome. He has made the Y a second home. The true testament is their unwillingness to go home when I come to pick them up. Thank you for everything!
Good facility. I could not give it 5 stars because they lack Saunas and a pool.
Protective measures are in place. Clean facilities, and friendly staff.
Clean facilities. Unorganized sports program. Coaches don’t know schedules, don’t teach any fundamentals, and leaves and forgets kids have games. Try another facility. Waste is money for sports programs. Spoke with mgt. no response.
Friendly, courteous, welcoming environment. Can get crowded at times. Lots of family activities.
I do NOT recommend the membership. Heres my story, I think it is worth reading before going.I have been a member at the Y for almost 2 years. My card was declined once because I received a new card and they tried to hit me with a $25 late fee. After talking to a manager, they waived it. Several months later, my card number was stolen. It was stolen the day before my payment is drafted. I called them the next day and informed them that the card wouldnt go through. The associate on the phone assured me that yes, it did go through. I assumed maybe they ran the payment early and I accepted her answer. Several days later, I received a letter asking me to send them the membership dues PLUS the late fee. I called back and explained that their associate told me it went through and if it didnt, they have no right to charge a late fee as it was a fault on their part. They gave me several excuses well its a separate company that runs the cards so we really cant tell if it went through until several days later and well you called the same day not in advance so we still have to charge the late fee. I was shocked at their inflexibility with a faithful member. I couldnt call them prior to my payment because my card was still valid AND I consider calling the same day to be a pretty responsible thing for a member to do. The thing is, in the end, this is the kind of place that wants to suck every penny out of you. I work at a place that runs monthly payments and our company gets charged less than a dollar per each card declined. And theyre trying to suck $25 extra out of it. I will be going in this week to terminate the membership and rejoin at 24 hour fitness--I went with them for several years and they were very flexible, personal, and understanding with their members. It is a shame for the YMCA to even consider themselves a Christian place.
Excellent place and staff! Natasha is an awesome instructor.
Camp was awesome this week. My girls loved it!
Great staff, plants of machines available
Good family friendly gym, has most of what you need to get a great work out.
Im beginning this with the positives to ensure everyone that reads this knows that this facility is beautiful, well-kept, and the staff are for the most part, very great to work with.I cancelled my membership with this YMCA because I moved elsewhere in Miami. Being that was the 24th of the June and that was the last day I was in this part of town to utilize this facility, it did not even cross my mind that I would be billed for July as well. I was wrong to think that. The manager on duty inquired when my billing cycle starts and I replied the 1st. To be fair, she did state that the policy explains that you do need to notify the gym 10 days before your billing cycle that you will no longer be needing your membership. I inquired if they were willing to make an exception for me, seeing that I will not be using the facility at all past the 24th. She did not budge. Although I do understand and respect that this is a policy of theirs, that does not make this policy fair. It is unfortunate that Im even writing this because this is such a great facility. I do feel cheated and I would still like a manager to reach out to me to resolve this issue. In the grand scope of things, $46 to the YMCA is minimal. To me, a 20-something living paycheck to paycheck, $46 is everything. Their unwillingness to work with me on this was very disappointing. Whats even more disappointing is that the wonderful year I had being a member with them is tainted by this one, last experience I had with them. I will ensure that I warn everyone I come in contact with (i.e. Colleagues, family, friends, etc) that is considering to be members with this gym that, should a circumstance arise, the staff is not willing to work with you, per their policy. I will also warn them that they will absolutely take your monthly membership fee for an entire month that you will not step foot in that gym. Disappointing.
Plenty of equipment, machines, and weights. Friendly staff. Steady schedule of classes if thats your thing. No pool or locker rooms, but there are lockers.Healthy variety of members, young, old, male, female, beginners, bodybuilders, etc.
It needs to be updated, but good in general.
When they say the Y is a youth organization, these days that means they have children with no customer services training who think they a running a school. This used to be a great gym, today classes are too packed, parking lot always full, management isnt present on weekends, phones off the hook today, all day, so my only option is to write this complaint.
Great place to work out with childcare.
Great place to work out
I dont recommend this gym a while ago I was there one of the men of the cleaning staff was very rude I belive is Colombian, I went in to the bathroom and there was no toilet paper then in to the women shower and the floor in there had some mold. I step out and saw the cleaning man and ask him.for toilet paper and I waited like a 15min to get it. I left t to go and ask for a manager and according to them the manager was not there apparently they seem to always have problems with the manager not not being there, so I left the gym. The next day I call in to speak to the manager cant recall the name of the person who pick the phone but the person in a loud tone of voice told me she went to check for the manager as I told her and then when I ask when is a good time to call the manager she said I dont know and said try calling again later and hang up the phone. The people in the front desk and the men from the cleaning staff are rude and disrespectful and nothing have been done about it I cancel this dumb gym membership and open up a gym membership in a better place where people are respectful. Not only that it bothered me that there are kids in there is supposed to be a family ymca gym and some womens in there dress with very little shorts some showing parts of her buttocks and some wearing see through pants and to me is very inappropriate when there are children and besides is called family there have to be better rules to that not only that it doesnt bother me of people sexual orientation but kissing in front of the daycare window where there are kids is so wrong if people want to this kind of things they should do it outside of the gym. I know these problems keeps going on because my friend is there and tells me about it, wow I have never experienced before something like this in a gym. It is one of the worst experiences in my life I had😤😲
I have had a family membership for years. Tonight, 3/25 my girls 20 and 13 went to the gym at 7:30pm. I got a strange phone call from the YMCA, the caller was very abrubt and asked me what my daughters birth year was? She hung up without saying goodbye. My daughter didnt have her ID with her but that has never been a problem before.Apparently the receptionist told my daughter that she needed my daughters birth certificate, and she wasnt able to go into the gym without it. She was refused admittance despite our membership fees being up to date. My family has attended the gym without any problems. They have pictures on file for everyone. Tonight the young lady wouldnt let my daughter through saying my 13 yo needed orientation training. My daughters have been members for years. The receptionist was training new employee and apparently she was treating her rudely as well. When my daughter explained that they had never had problems before, the receptionist repeatedly told her that her experiences of entering the Y previously were innapropriate. She sarcastically asked my daughter if she had ever worked before? My daughter asked for the manager. My daughter questioned the need for training and birth cert. which werent needed before. Alexsis responded with a long tirade which she basically repeated that those had been innapropriate actions by previous YMCA employees. When insisting to speak with the manager, my daughters had a 20 minute wait, until Alexsis came out of the offices saying there was no manager on duty, because on Fridays they dont usually have problems. This was followed by another refusal to give my daughter contact information of a manager. The receptionist Alexsis eventually gave my daughter a business card with a name and title of sales commissioner and said he was the manager.During the 45 minutes wasted, my daughter said several people walked in without IDs, had no problem, and were never questioned. We have never complained about anything in the Falls YMCA before. I havent attended much after the inconvenient construction because the class schedules are so inconsistent, but I have always paid my fees. I havent always had the best treatment at the YMCA Falls, but Tania was great, and the receptionists were professional. Tonight I am mortified that my children were denied entry, and treated so badly by someone because apparently she felt that was appropriate. The YMCA Falls doesnt seem to be a family gym anymore. It is apparently void of management, and filled with egos. Friendly staff, has been replaced by bouncers. There are great gyms behind Publix warehouses.Cancelling my family membership.
They have great classes, excellent personal and happy greeters
Excelent I love the yoga class and the Beautiful facility
Good gym. The only thing that really sucks are the hours of operation which inconveniently close too soon.
Good summer camp programs
Dont waste your money
Love the sunrise views, disappointment of no sauna there 😔
Good clean and up to date.
I had complaint twice about no instructors for the mornings olders classes and was corrected for our third class.
Best place to work out
I love it nice and clean
Excellent team here!
Very nice.
Great facility and classes
Great
Very friendly staff at the front t desk
Definitely & completely....all in dues time!!!!!!!!! 🤗🤡🤠😎🤑😝😜📚

Family oriented, great instructors.
