As someone who has only fly fished a couple of times before, the amount of patience JP had with me was amazing! I learned so much from him and had the best time fishing! He’s knowledgeable, careful, adept, and has some wickedly sharp eyesight for spotting fish. He’s pretty funny too, which is a fun bonus!

Jerry was spectacular. I took my son down to Miami for his first full day fishing trip; in total we did 3 days. Jerry’s service was amazing, his knowledge of the area and the fish were great, and most importantly, he was able to keep my son interested in fishing all day long. Jerry was an incredible guide. Not only does he find the fish but he helped improve my fundamentals and technique on fly fishing. Salt water fly fishing for tarpon is as tough as it gets and he spent a lot of time helping me refine my casting technique. Result: Landing my first Tarpon. Boom

Captain Jerry Perez (JP) is a class A guide. The little things do matter - and JP reinforces this at every turn. He’s an excellent guide, caster and fisherman. I was very fortunate to spend 6 days tarpon fishing with JP in the Everglades. What an experience. JP gave us a master class in targeting and catching tarpon.JP’s passion is second to none. Finally had my dream fishing trip, thanks to scanning shallows!I got to fly fish Florida bay for snook, redfish and tarpon. The weather was perfect for sight fishing.(This captain can see fish from far and will call them out to you, in time, with ease.)With the assistance from the poling platform and patience of the captain I was able to make casts and present flies to a lot of hungry fish. I had missed some opportunities(which were plentiful) but Jerry would reassure me with very helpful pointers to help set me up for my next shots. I landed some nice snook and redfish, missed a tarpon (almost slam) I highly recommend Jerry Perez /Scanning shallow guide service . Been fishing with Jerry for years and he never disappoints. Just returned from a three day trip where I brought my 12 year old son down for his first South Florida fly trip. Jerry put us on fish (per normal) and was great with instruction with my son. Mother Nature tried to screw things up but Jerry’s knowledge of the Keys and Glades allowed us to dodge the weather and keep boating fish. Highly recommend Jerry to anyone and everyone. Can’t wait for our next trip.
