I had a decent experience interacting with this company: my stuff got from A to B in one place, and the system to set call backs worked very well; I never had to wait too much to get in contact with customer service. The drivers were professional, as well as the people from customer service.The downside is that the delivery of the container on destination was one week late. Even though I understand delays can happen, it is the reason for the delay and the way the company handled the reason why I am giving the service 4 stars instead of 5. For whoever is interested, Ill explain in detail what happened.The sale agent that sold me the service, and help me set up the date for the delivery of the container at origin, forgot to discount non-working dates when calculating the travel time. Even though I interacted several times with agents from customer service, nobody noticed the problem until I called customer service two days before the scheduled day of delivery at destination. I noticed the delivery date had been changed in the webpage. Then, after a long discussion, the representative finally acknowledged that the problem had been on their end, and informed me that it was impossible for them to deliver the container on the date that was originally scheduled. So, the delivery was set to happen in three more days.I called in the early morning of the day the container was supposed to arrive after being rescheduled, to get an ETA. The agent told me the container was delayed, and that it would arrive in four more days. Fortunately, it did arrive 4 days after, but I should have been informed by them that it was delayed.To be fair, I have to acknowledge that I was compensated according to what was stipulated in the contract, $50 per day of delay. I was also refunded the expedite shipment cost, as they were not able to deliver on time.Overall, this is a serious and good company, but they need to be more proactive in keeping their clients informed of delays and to double check when setting up the delivery dates to be sure they are feasible.
DO NOT book with this company!! I did for a recent move and even though I booked the containers weeks out, I received a call the DAY OF the scheduled delivery that they did not have any containers to deliver. How could they not know there was no units in their inventory until the day of the delivery?? We had movers scheduled for the next day and they best they could do was to say they could deliver 4 days later. Customer service was incredibly unhelpful and did not provide any solutions. Avoid Pack Rat at all cost!! Instead, look into UNITS— they saved the day for us and delivered SAME DAY with beautiful, sturdy and clean units. Their customer service was so helpful from beginning to end and they have top tech for delivering and maneuvering into tight spaces (a robotic small fork lift so the containers can be parked on spots that a large tuck may not be able to get to).
PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF. This is THE WORST customer service I have EVER encountered. I talked to probably every SINGLE person on their team and every single person was uninformative, and unable to assist me with any of my questions about my move. I waited on hold on the phone with them for a cumulative 7 hours over all the conversations I had with them.They GUARANTEED me a certain delivery date moving from Boston to Denver (a HUGE MOVE) and when I called to check up on something minute about my move, I asked about the parking permit for the delivery - they then told me that the delivery date was pushed out 20+ days. I waited and waited and waited to speak with a manager to get questions answered. I chose them over 3 other moving companies SPECIFICALLY because of their guaranteed moving date which turned out to be a lie and a completely unprofessional way to try to get out business. I can’t even express the trouble I had to go through with this company.The WORST experience. I ended up cancelling my reservation and I suggest you steer CLEAR of this awful, AWFUL company.
1-800 Packrat has been nothing but a pain. I havent received any phone calls from them when they dont show up on time. They never delivered my container, When I finally called at 4:00pm to inquire about it, they told me my delivery window was between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. I insisted they contact the local branch to find out a closer time that they would deliver. After waiting on hold for another 15 minutes, they told me they were out of containers and they would deliver tomorrow. (would have been nice to get a phone call stating that before I waited around all day long) Yesterday they were supposed to pick up my container, they again never showed up and didnt call to tell me they wouldnt be picking up. Every time they dont follow through as scheduled and I am forced to call the 1 800 number, wait on hold. Finally get through to someone who then puts me on hold to reach out to the local branch, who then doesnt pick up. I am now waiting to see if they will come today. This is the last thing a customer should have to do when planning a long distance move! Save yourself the aggravation and go with someone else.
Made a reservation for a Pod at 1800 Pack Rat and it went without a hitch. Give them a try. They’re worth every penny spent.

What an absolute clown show, how is this place even a thing?Heres my experience, it starts pleasant enough with a friendly sales agent who helps me build an order and takes my payment information. Fast forward to the week before my move, I call to confirm that everything will be delivered as ordered, they confirm, they bill my credit card and take my deposit. Things are going well.Now we get to the day my unit will be delivered, I call to ask for an estimated time of arrival as I had to step out for a family commitment, Im told the facility is processing my order but unfortunately they cant commit on when the unit will be delivered that day but it can arrive any time up to 11PM. 11PM comes and it goes, and no word from 1-800-PACKRAT, weve officially been ghosted. I do speak to an agent who apologizes and advises that I call back first thing the next day.So now its the day of my packing, the day after they committed to delivering the unit. I spend 3-4 hours on hold trying to get in touch with somebody to find out what happened to my order, Im told that the facility does not have my ordered unit and there is nothing they can do as they have no units at all.So lets recap, they take my money, confirm my order, ghost me, and then burn half my day to tell me they cant help me anymore. It is without a doubt the absolute worst experience I have had with any company of any type. At no time did they inform me that my order was at risk, and they had no alternate solutions available to help me out of the disaster they created.Now at my own expense I need scramble instead of packing, and Ill likely need to cut short my scheduled trip to go house shopping at my final destination. A simple refund doesnt correct the chaos 1-800-PACKRAT added to my move, and Im not sure that theres a solution they can offer at this point that makes this right and for those reasons I have to ask myself how can a company this incredibly horrible at the service they offer even remain in business?Use them at your own risk, and be prepared to be so far up the creek your life is incredibly disrupted.TL;DR: USE ANYBODY ELSEIgnore their fake apology comment, they do this to everybody and they will do it to you too. That is all they can offer up is a sorry as my case was escalated 3x, and sure they will give me my deposit back but that doesnt cover me having to tell my family that we have to cut short our vacation, having to pay change fees for my airline tickets and rental car either.Unacceptable business practices and the whole operation deserves to be squashed like a rat.

This is the first time I am leaving a bad review in my life.Booked the service month and a half in advance. they cancelled my order 3 days before the move for no reason - without my permission. That cost me thousands more than what I budgeted for. Please dont I repeat, DONT USE THEIR SERVICE.
Absolutely horrible experience. They moved the drop off date the day of to next morning without telling us and we had to cancel our schedule movers the next morning and are out $600. They also moved the pickup date by 5 days even though they confirmed it weeks before so our pod was sitting on the main busy road while we had to leave the state later in the afternoon. I will never recommend this company to anyone.

I had the worst experience with 1800 Pack Rat--Stay AwayHold times are in excess of an hour to connect with a customer service rep, once you have a reservation.They do not give delivery windows, the driver will call an hour before they are estimated to arrive is all you are given for the delivery day.They DID NOT DELIVER the container on the date that we reserved. It then took 4 phone calls, all with at least an hour hold time to connect with a person for them to inform me that it would be about 3 weeks before a container would become available for deliveryThis is by far the worst experience----go with another company~~
Do NOT use them. My husband scheduled with them and they tired delivering a second storage unit the week after we got ours and when our closing date got moved my husband rescheduled on line and they lost our reservation and we are now being told they can’t help us for a week. Nathaniel with customers service told us there is no one their system could have messed up. Well it did at least 2x during our process so yes it can. Awful customer service!
Driver cut me right off on 95 heading to Hamilton Mass, they the driver proceeded to not let me pass him and when I finally did the driver gave me the finger.. driver had a white beard and sunglasses very unprofessional on his end....
The only good thing about my experience with this company was Ray, a driver who left after many years. I say this because they told us we could store a pod in Methuen, MA, then when we were ready, they would ship it up to an island off Portland, ME. Until they said they wouldnt. False advertising doesnt even begin to describe this organization. The good news is that everything in my pod was dry and in good shape but their customer service is horrid. plus--of course--the price went up within a few months.Like so many franchises these days, you cant reach the actual location directly - just the national office. Get it together, Pack Rat - its called cloud services. STAY AWAY.
I worked with 1-800-Pack-Rat to move from the Boston area to North Carolina. They were great to work with by phone. Everything was on time and straightforward, with great communication. I would recommend them to anyone wishing to use a moving pod-type service.
DO NOT USE! Unbelievably poor service. Not just one problem with 4 pods scheduled in cross country move, but 6 major mistakes...literally non-stop errors. Nearly EVERY delivery scheduled for drop-off and pick up DIDN’T happen on day agreed. And worse yet, they wouldn’t even call to give me a heads up they wouldn’t arrive on time. Worst customer service of any company i have every encountered. Here’s the story: So I’d be waiting with a moving crew, standing by...No pod shows up to load on front end....then call customer service, wait 45 min on hold, and ask where it is.....they say, hmmm....”doesn’t look like this got scheduled”.....seriously? They had already sent email confirmation of the date we agreed it would arrived.....then this happens in another pod, AGAIN. THEN delivery across country it happens AGAIN .....they randomly send me an email stating date for delivery has been moved back....still charging me full price.... and then on rescheduled date 1 of the pods is missing ....doesn’t arrive at all. No call. No email by customer service Explaining anything. I called them again and it’s a 45 minute hold almost 1 hour. Unbelievable. They give me the story that somehow it didn’t get scheduled with the others and can’t say why and now it’s 10 days before they can get it here. Truly unbelievable! never explaining anything. I rented a storage container from packrat filled it up and had them pick it up and store it as we did renovations on the house. Covid delayed completion of the reno by a few months but when I called and asked for delivery of the unit, I was given a scheduled time. When they did not show - even after giving me an email confirmation, I called and was unable to speak with anyone. I left a message and got no call back. I sent emails and got no call back. I finally reached a human who told me the delivery was cancelled because the CC on file reached the expiration date. No one told me or contacted me in any way. The person on the phone could not take the new CC with the new Exp date. I was told I would get a call and didnt. I called again and ended up leaving another message. No one called me. Finally, I called and reached someone who took payment and rescheduled with me. I found them totally unresponsive and unconcerned that they had treated me that way. I never had an email or a call about the matter from anyone. It cost me an extra month of payments but that doesnt really matter as much as the hassle and the lack of any customer interest or service. This was at the corporate level, but they handle all financial and scheduling. The local Methuen folks only deliver and pick up.
Customer service was knowledgeable and pleasant.The truck drivers called before arriving and were tidy, friendly and efficient. They consulted with me on where to place the storage unit, and placed it just right. The unit itself was clean and the doors were easy to operate.I had to change my pick up date and was squeezed in to make it work for my schedule.A painless and efficient experience all around.
Moving across the country and 1-800-pack-rat called me the day my storage container was supposed to be delivered to tell me that they cant deliver it today, and actually they dont even know when theyll be able to deliver one! Their reasoning was running out of containers in my area. The customer service representative I spoke with did not offer to request a container from another location and was really just not helpful at all. Had to book a container with another company at the last minute which ended up costing me an additional $1500. Will definitely never use this company again.
Ripped off and Unethical! here is my timelinesBooked Pack rat on Feb 10th got a quote for $2650 after multiple discussion with Upack and Pack Rat. Pack Rat quoted $400 more but i went with them because services they offered was good . Feb 24th dropped the container ($500 deposit deducted) and picked up full container 05/03. This time they charge $2600(Total $3100) ..$ 400 more that what they have quoted. When i called the customer service she literally said i am at fault for not reading the fine print ...in 2 weeks fuel price have gone up by couple of cents so they have charged $400 more. Total rip off and unethical

I reached out online for a Quote and was told to call them for pricing options. I so far have gotten 4 emails saying to call them and offering 10% off my service, as well as apparently the direct line for the long distance sales manager. You know what I havent gotten yet? A quote.

They called me and said my Pod in which I made a deposit for weeks ago at the last minute could not be delivered anymore until after I had to be at my place.
Cant get an answer or a return call from this company. They put you into a never ending loop.
