Went in for a tapered cut blended with the top, and I might as well have been speaking a foreign language. Aside from the antebellum haircut, the confederate memorabilia on the wall was enough to make me stay away from the place. If you have an ounce of decency, this place is not for you

Not a good haircut. My lady barber did not understand that a crew cut is not supposed to be the same length all around, left a bunch of stray, long hairs after one passover with the clippers, and all in all was clearly more interested in getting me out of the seat and out the door than providing a good haircut.Other people seem to be pleased, but I was not.

Been going there for years, besides the barbers being very friendly, and conversational, they give good professional haircuts. I just had a haircut from Ashley. She is new but very good. The cuts are usually $16. Depending on business, one may have to wait up to 45 minutes. They have a ticket system because they are that popular. One will find it well worth the wait.

Everybody knows Algie Haileys is where you take your kids to get their first haircut and the same guys have been going for decades. Its hard to find a place where a flat-top is still an art...as is an old-fashion shave with a straight-razor. Mr. Eddie is our guy, but sometimes we switch styles, every Barber has his unique style. And you just never know whos gonna walk in!

I love this local classic! They remind me of my kind childhood barber, Mr. Fritz, from St. Bernard Parish. Nothing like the hot shaving cream, straight razor, and skillful trim of the hairline. Love the barber chairs. The relatively new HDTVs add a nice element of contemporary to the traditional. I gladly tip them to $20 every time. These folks deserve the patronage to keep them thriving for yet another generation.

Love this place. The old guys are always telling stories, some of them very colorful, but they certainly can give a great haircut. Even when packed I have never had that long of a wait. Worst part about the place is the parking, but lining up on the side of the train tracks fixes that.

Besides the risk of catching a blood born disease from the illegal razors they use to shave you, ( The only acceptable I use of a straight razor is the ones that the blade can be changed out each use per Louisiana code ) I’m far from the PC police but the confederate flag picture on the wall and that I was told they don’t cut hair like mine bc I had dread locs told me you have to have a touch of racism to feel comfortable getting your hair cut here.

I have been coming here for about 25 years, found it right after I got married. Ive been other places when the need arises (out of area, stuck on the other side of town) but I always come back here as my first choice. Great barbers, great atmosphere, friendly patrons. This is the kind of barber ship I grew up going to. I am a patron for life. If you want to experience what it was to get a haircut and some conversation give this place a try.

Oldest barber shop in New Orleans area. Its fun to ask them about it. These guys are the old pros. Most chairs have their clippers hooked up to a shop vac, so you dont get much hair in you.

Racists, and not afraid to let you know. I listened with disgust as my barber wished for the good old days of segregation, when young black men knew their place. A time when they respected the police, because the cops would bring them in and take them down by throwing them down a stairwell. So, if you support racial segregation and police brutality, this is the place for you.

A historic barbershop. It is not the movie Barbershop but still is a great place to get a mens haircut. The wait is long though.

Maybe a little tired looking, but a serious, old-school barber shop. In business since FOREVER. Cuts are $16. See Alan H. or Ronnie B. You wont be disappointed.

If you enjoy hearing some racist old white guys complain about n*ggers, while you sit there in the chair and try to resist the urge to pop one of them right in the jaw, this is the place for you. Its 2014, and I personally dont have time for that nonsense. I hate the fact that they assumed that it was fine to talk like that in front of me Im a) white, b) male. When I told them I didnt appreciate the language, and that I wouldnt be back, one of the barbers proudly told me that they didnt allow blacks in the business. Embarrassingly pathetic behavior from grown men that should know better.
