I went there today to get an estimate on the front end of my Ford 150, and I was greeted by very courteous and helpful staff. Their prices are very reasonable an exceptional work ethic as I seen while waiting for my estimate to get done. If you want good value for your mechanical work on your vehicle Universal is definitely the place youd like 2 go. Ask for either Kevin the owner or Jake May greet you at the front door as he is most of the time coordinating the work being done at Universal. Again very helpful and courteous staff keep up the great work

Got a set of 4 new tires put on my car. A few days later my car starts making a loud clunking noise and my car shakes... luckily I was right in front of a mechanic shop when it happened so I could pull it somewhere safely! Turns out that one of my tires wasnt tightened properly when the new tire was put on my vehicle. I dont understand how something like that was missed. Tires should be torqued properly with a torque wrench to the vehicles specification, and not with an impact gun.. I would have potentially ended up wrecking my car due to that! Will never take my vehicle back here again.

Kevin is great! His guys almost equally as great. There is a reason I drive out of my way to get oil changes and routine services, these guys take care of your car like it’s their own.

I’ve been to at least five other shops in the area big and small and none of them even compare to the guys up here. They have a better shop better techs Better service and better prices than everyone around. They really do a great job and they know what they’re talking about. They don’t screw people over into paying for things they don’t need. Would recommend.

Been going to Universal for a long rime now. Great people, everyone working there are polite, professional, and get your car fixed at the cheapest price possible, they don’t try to charge a rediculous amount for their service, and have helped me twice now when my car needed to be towed to their shop due to a flat tire and other issues. I came in 2 different times to have an oil change, tire rotation and inspection. I guess tire rotation here just means making the wheels move because that is making the tires rotate, right? I was told 2 times I needed tie rod ends. I had new tie rod ends. I kept saying I have new ones I am pretty sure it is a wheel bearing. I took it 2 other places and they both said wheel bearing. I got the wheel bearing done and hey, what do you know the sound and vibration is gone. Oh, yeah and I love people respecting my property by smoking in my vehicle..so respectful Thank You! I saw the guy that was taking it in the back get in my vehicle with a lit cigarette. To Universal Auto and Tire if you look in your computer you will not find my name but I was in there. I promise you that I was there and you did this....to me. Goodbye.

My brother recommended this company to me. I called them in need of a tow. Called later that night and they had someone out that night. Once my SUV arrived to the shop they looked over the whole car. Called me with very detailed list of what needed repaired (as my car is older) and went over prices for everything. If I had any questions about what was being done to my car, Kevin was very thorough with answering my questions. They called back a day later to let me know my car was ready. That was fast! Kate is also awesome, and detailed with her work as well.I have yet to pick up my car, as I let them continue to do all the work on my car. So far Ive been impressed with how responsive theyve been and understanding that I can only call at certain times of the day.

Best shop in Lake County! The staff is friendly and professional, they explain your cars problems in detail and have never tried to make a SINGLE extra dollar off of me on the numerous of occasions that I’ve needed their services. I’m very funny about my vehicles and they are the only shop that I would let touch them because I know they would be in good hands! I highly recommend trying them out next time your car has an issue as you won’t be disappointed!

Had several oil spots on my garage floor (2007 Impala). Dealership mechanic suggested head gaskets should be replaced and other service items. BIG BUCKS! Decided to get a second opinion from Kevin and his mechanics.Glad I did. Head gaskets were not one of the issues. Kevin patiently explained what was discovered, showed me what was found and gave a (GREAT) cost estimate They replaced valve covers, oil sensor, etc for less than half the amount dealership estimated AND no more oils spots on garage floor!These guys are now my go to mechanics. Try em, youll like em!

Im from the Cincinnati area and as I was traveling to New York, I had a flat tire on I-90. My AAA tow driver took me here and they were the best mechanics Ive ever dealt with. They fixed my car for cheap and had fixed a stud that had broken on the wheel for almost nothing as well. Quality people, and if I lived anywhere in the Cleveland area, this would be my mechanic without a doubt. Thanks again Kevin!!

I came in for an oil change and they found a nail in my tire I didnt even know was there. Checked my battery and found it was weak, and put a new one in for a very reasonable price, while I waited. I even got a free air freshener! I will be back again. PS, the coffee was good too.

I have been to this shop a few times in the last few years, and the level in care has been great. My winter car is a beater, and they know only to fix whats broke, and my family SUV I want to keep forever. I have tires, and oil changes done here. They also fixed my car and were able to have my extended warranty work with them to replace a brake caliper.

Very happy with Kevin and the entire staff. Have helped me, my girlfriend and her son on many occasions. Honest and upfront business, would definitely recommend and will have them do all my auto repair in the future.

I asked him to bleed the brakes after I put wheel cylinders on it. He charged me $40, but the brakes were exactly the same after he did it as before. When I told him that, he said the brakes were not that bad when he drove it before he did it. So, if they were not that bad, why didnt he tell me that? When I asked him why he did not say anything, he argued that he did nothing wrong and he did what I asked him to. While arguing that he did nothing wrong, he says he does not want to argue with me. I imagine he will post a reply suggesting he did nothing wrong. Bottom line is: he took my money despite knowing that the brakes felt ok before he did the work. The brakes feel exactly the same as before he did it, and he took my money. When I indicated he took advantage of me, he told me never to come back. He can count on that.

I was extremely unhappy with their tire service.I went in for a tire repair, when they put the spare tire on they never bothered to check the air pressure. I left thinking everything was fine, got a low tire pressure warning, WHEN I CHECKED THE TIRE WITH A REGULAR TIRE GAUGE, it only had a third of the air pressure it should have had (20 PSI INSTEAD OF 60 PSI). If that little detail was overlooked I dont feel confident that any major work would be done correctly.UPDATE #2Keven has his excuses WRONG:1) I do NOT have a four wheel drive car.2) The low tire pressure light came on which lead me to check the tire pressure on my own. I dont know what your rambling excuse about the low tire presser warning has anything to do with the fact that your mechanic NEVER checked the tire pressure in the spare tire.3) You wanted to sell me TWO new tires and I said it wasnt in the budget at that time, you said ethically you could NOT let me leave with my damaged tire on the car, so I said put the spare on it.Dont turn this around and make it sound like I did something wrong.UPDATE #3...The owner (Kevin) of this business has changed AND DELETED parts of his original response, I feel I need to update my review.If you missed the original response by Kevin...it was a very long and rambling response, with a lot of incorrect statements.It is still my feeling that the situation was not handled properly. The owner only makes excuses for why he or his employee did not check the air pressure on the spare tire when they put it on the car!Bottom line...they dropped the ball and none of his BS explanation, about something that isnt even relevant, will change that!

Several by past employees.** Same staff, same manager, new name*Kevin (ex-mgr, now owner) claims one of the weights must have fallen off... One maybe but ALL FOUR? Doubt it.If they cant get a simple tire balancing job done correctly while using a computerized balance machine, what chance do YOU have with a more complex problem?Beware! Of any owner that publicly says good riddance to a dissatisfied customer!I spent over $1,000, caught their mistake, brought it to light and his reply is GOOD RIDDANCE because I complained?Is this the kind of company you really want to be working on your vehicle and ultimately trusting your life too?
