These are trying times and when we all strive for a sense of what is deemed normality in our day to day routines this can be difficult when considering attending a public gym. However, the general manager (Kerri Deroche) who helped sign me up for membership put my mind at ease today. She was extremely informative when she showcased the facility and I observed the cleaning staff on the floor the whole time ensuring that all equipment stayed sanitized. In addition, the gym was set up with equipment spaced a fair distance apart to ensure that the company was striving to help mitigate any potential risk of people catching Covid-19. Aside from these fine details the gym was extremely spacious, clean, and was well laid out. I feel more than comfortable and at ease working out at this facility and suggest if you want to get back into the gym to check out this location and see Kerri!
Like many others who have commented, Ive been trying to contact BSC recently about my account to cancel. No one responded to or took action on my requests to freeze my account in April, despite MA emergency orders that required all non-essential businesses to close in late March! Ive been charged 3 monthly fees since April 1. No one will pick up the phone despite repeated calling, and their automated email replies say you need to VISIT the gym to cancel or send a letter to them and wait for a confirmation (who knows if anyone will even acknowledge receipt). This is not surprising, and still unacceptable behavior from yet another big company sucking money from its members!
Went at 6am Monday morning and there were no cleaning wipes on the 3rd floor which has all the free weights, and also ran out of paper towels after 20 minutes. After alerting the front desk, they said the cleaning people wouldnt arrive until 7am and they were the only ones with the key to the cleaning supplies, so there was nothing she could do. Come on BSC, you have to try a little harder to at least pretend like you care about your members safety.EDIT - Upgraded from 1 star to 3 stars, as the above criticism hasnt been an issue since that particular day over the last couple of weeks.
I filed a complaint with MA Attorney General Office! They have continued to pull $ from my account even though I have a confirmation e-mail that my membership is cancelled. I’m suing them next. Anyone else that would like to join in on the lawsuit, please reach out to me. [email protected]. I will be working the MA AGO, as well. Easy to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office. Everything is done online and they are quick to respond!
Equipment is very poor, often broken and when fixed done so with caveats like “will not work unless headphones are plugged in.” Despite assurances by management, equipment is not replaced and is inadequate for the number of memberships sold at this location.Outside of that - the contract and contracting process is extremely opaque and difficult to manage. Rates go up virtually annually, and staff is quick to assure you there is nothing they can do since the contract servicing is outsourced and they are not the managing party.
AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAGUE. As many of the reviews have mentioned, BSC never sent any communication regarding resuming operation and started charging my credit card. When I reached out to the manager of this location, I was told that they sent a correspondence but I didnt find any email or physical mail. Furthermore, when I asked them to cancel my membership, I was told I have to go into the club to personally request them to cancel the membership. They expect people to risk their well being just to cancel a membership which probably takes them a click to complete over the phone. They are probably banking on people just giving up on it and continue to charge them.
Great gym.... tons of open space and I can almost always find a machine
Do not waste your time with this gym that survives on predatory practices.Their standard cancellation policy requires 45 days notice. This means they will continue to charge you for 1.5 months AFTER you want to cancel. At the height of COVID-19, they were shut down and continued to charge their members the monthly fee!In terms of the gym, the machines are rundown and they do not have enough to support the number of guests they have at any given time. Many of the treadmills are broken and there is no indication until you try to use it.After signing up, the staff personal trainers will hound you via email to sign with them. This is a bloated gym that takes your money, and puts you in a situation where you cant accomplish your fitness goals. I strongly advise you to spend your money on another gym.
Scammers. They scam you when you cancel your membership. I was charged wrong amount for the month after I cancelled my membership and the Manager Jordan ignores your emails/calls when you try to reach her to question the additional charges. Strongly recommend not to join such bad clubs who do not value customers.
Its great to have the gyms back. One issue I have is the state says if youre 14 feet or more away from someone else you can pull your mask down. BSC makes you ware it all the time, which is fine in every situation but cardio. It seems they have spaced the equipment about 14 feet apart but they still make you wear the mask even if no one is around. I wish theyd change that policy, and if not then open up more equipment to accommodate more people if masks are mandatory on the cardio machines
If you want to get injured this is the gym to go to!!! The amount of equipment that is broken and not maintained is absurd, even got hurt myself on a rowing machine when the seat came off, it was broken in two places! Never heard a followup from management about this incident.I wish I could point out the pros, but if such a serious issue such as this exists, I cant see why I should bother.
Gym machines are always broke. Gym is over full. Forget about customer service. Beside monthly fees, there is extra charges for maintenance and new equipment. However, planet fitness $10, is better cleaner, better customer service and the machines works better.
I (along with other members) was charged for the entire month of March and April, a period in which the club was closed due to state mandated lockdown. Immediately upon reopening I was charged again. The club has ignored all communications and requests for refund (only for charges made while BSC was closed). Charging members for services not-rendered is THEFT - pure and simple. Extremely unethical practices. Stay away.
If I can give 0 star, this definitely will be the one. They increase my fee without letting me know and told me they can whenever they want to with an email, which I have never received. There was a cancellation $10 cancellation fee, which they will charge you right away plus 45 days fee after that. In addition to that, they charged me $70 for next year annual fee that I am not going to be a member for. The customer person was polite, well trained to handle screwing the client slowly! Getting out there is a nightmare, BSC POLICY will try to charge you as much as they can with different labels.
TL;DR: This company charged people during the Covid 19 shutdown. Enough said. Let them go bankruptI never really liked this gym (especially after charging during the shutdown) but I kept the membership because of my friend. Upon arrival during the first opening day after the covid shutdown, I was told my membership was canceled because I called them A sleazy bunch in an email. Thats it. All they said. In fact the entire email that got me cancelled read Good. Good. Sleazy bunch. In response to an email they sent basically saying they would stop charging us during the shutdown. Took me by surprise and was shocked something so trivial was being brought up. There you have it, the secret to canceling your membership is to hurt their wittle, fragile feelings. Of course, Jordan said I could have it again but id have to pay my yearly fee a second time during the same year. Totally not sleazy amirite. Stay away!
Only thing keeping this gym in business is the location. Plenty of broken equipment, most showers don’t have hot water and they take forever to get things fixed. Although it is a nice gym it comes with its cons when it comes to management.
The employees here are impatient, rude, and not transparent what so ever. I called inquiring about membership guidelines and cancellations and the woman on the phone would not let me speak and did nothing to help me with understanding the contract. She told me members must come in to cancel and speak with a manager but when I asked her when the manager was in she didnt even know his schedule or when he would be in. Horrible management and customer service.
After freezing my account on early early April and requesting a cancellation I was charged again within minutes of gyms reopening however in their website it states gyms are all closed and when you call the gym it just rings then the corporate office number just hangs up on you. They charged me for two months without my authorization. This business is a sham to take advantage of people during Covid is disgusting never going back here. They make it impossible to cancel
The facility is bright and spacious. Location is good too, with the Wellington subway/bus stop nearby. Theres a pool on the first floor. Second floor appears to be cardio and green space. Third floor houses most of the weights and equipment. I cant comment on the crowd as I come here at off-peak hours.
Usually decent when open but I showed up today and there was a closed sign on the door with no explanation.
Doesnt deserve even a single star. poor communication, unnecessarily charging fees during covid.
The best thing about this gym is the great boxing classes that they have available. Awesome workout and a great draw.
On top of that customer person was one of the worst that I have seen. Getting out there is nightmare, they will try to charge you as much as they can with different labels.
Contracts are very hard to get out of. Instructors don’t show up to classes. Equipment is always broken and the gym never seems clean
I used to go to this gym about four years back. During that time, I used to be pleased to be here. I didnt notice the bad customer service as mentioned in other reviews. It might be that I forgot any bad taste and just remembered the sweet ones. Spreading in multiple stories, the club has most of the amenities of a modern gym.
Do you like racking six 45lb plates because the guy who used it before you left them and watches as you rack them? Guys who take up three machines in their private circuit and don’t let you work in? Classes that start 15 minutes late and are completely disorganized? Members who don’t wipe down machines and leave them coated in droplets of sweat? Front desk people who don’t make eye contact or say hello? Then this gym is for you!!
Ive never met any rude staff here. Ive always had a solid workout with no issue. People complain over the dumbest things. Marissa at the desk is amazing, easily one of the best staff there. The only issue I have would be the smell of the carpet in the mens locker room, definitely could use a shampoo every few months.
It is an expensive sports club where they provide all the facilities like a shower, good bathrooms and eating hall. They also have good places for activities like a basketball court, a swimming pool, and a weight training area. Highly recommend if you have cash to spend and want to be luxurious.
I have been a member here for a few years and it has really gone downhill. I joined the gym knowing it was not a budget gym. As a result I expected them to maintain the facility which was nice when new and for the place to be a little less crowded. That was the case for about a few years. Then they started offering $20 memberships which doubled the number of people in the weight room. Oh and if you are an existing member paying $50 or more a month even if you are month to month they charge you a change of membership fee to get the cheaper membership. I stayed as long as I did because I had an excellent trainer. But a summer of black flies in the shower, broken equipment, and fellow members who leave dirty towels, Powerade bottles, etc every where was enough.By the way if you workout in the morning the weights are everywhere and the dirty towel issue is very noticeable. Why? Because they dont have anyone to pick up at night nor does anyone really clean the place heavily at night. They arent going to wash the place down during the day so you can guess how often stuff gets disinfected. I could go on, they cant bill correctly, constantly change policies, open late, etc. I was month to month and it was surprisingly easy to cancel so they get one star for that.
Great facility, but I’m putting one star because this place will steal your money, they increase fees and they will charge your card even after you cancelled, it happened with me, happened with my parents and with my sister. Worst customer service I’ve ever seen
Same story as other reviewers!!. BSC is in business to steal your hard earned money!!! Im shocked there is a business like this in this country!!! They will promise you a good offer and then change it without notice.😠 Jordan; the customer service representative; is absolutely a dishonest person. A wolf in a sheep clothes. BSC is a scam. Be aware. I hope they get sued and close. 😠
I’ve been a member here for many years, mainly because of the location. I’ve been hoping they’d fix some of the issues I’ve listed below but it just hasn’t happened hence why I’m here...Pros: The facility is large and generally kept up pretty well. It has a good number of machines, weights, treadmills, etc. Nice pool and basketball court as well. Ability to use different locations is very convenient. Free garage parking is great too.Cons: They offered some low deals a couple years back so now it’s beyond manageable during peak hours. Around the same time, they started charging an annual maintenance fee which is a joke. They are very slow to fix equipment. In fact, some of the fixes are just a bolt replacement yet it takes them weeks. The TVs on the walls haven’t worked for almost two years. I remember they used to have some one there fixing issues like these but I’m pretty sure they cut that role to save money. Many of the members have zero gym etiquette. They don’t replace weights and leave the locker room in a disgusting state. Also, how can you work out in a bathing suit or in jeans??? This would never fly at other gyms. Small signs addressing these issues don’t help, the staff needs to be more pro active. They stopped providing basketballs for use a couple years ago. It’s not that hard, hold a license or charge someone’s account if they don’t return the ball. No license or no card on file, then no ball. This review could easily be a 4 star with some simple attention to detail changes by management. Currently for the price, the cons do outweigh the pros.
I cancelled the membership 4 months ago, but BSC still charged my money, and no one solved it. Does that mean we can not cancel our membership?????
Called to cancel my membership a while ago and even did some payments another staff asked to have it done, and today they just simply charged me 70 bucks without the staff letting me know, leaving my account negative.. what a lack of communication. Never again.
Horrible staff, I cancelled my membership since I had to move to another city. They took $20 fee for cancellation and keep sending me email saying hope they could get me back. I gave they the reason I left clearly for at least two times through email. It makes you feel that they try to be nice to you only because they want your money.
I recently joined BSC. It is really convenient seeing that i take the train to and from work. I see all the complaints about fees and not knowing about them but the guy i signed up with was super nice and explained everything. He even set up the app for me so i am able to see the agreement and my account. The gym is huge and has a pool! The staff seems really nice and always says hi! The classes are great and it looks like they have made some changes with new equipment. Definitely glad i joined!
I signed up for a gym membership in January of 2018 and paid an annual fee of $69.99 in February 2018. I moved in January of 2019 and was proactive about canceling my membership in December, prior to the move. I just looked at my bank account and have a second annual fee charge of $69.99. When I asked for it to be reversed they refused... despite the fact it hasnt been a year since the last time I paid one (youd think Id be covered for....a year...) and the fact that Ive canceled my membership a month ago. Super disappointed that instead of understanding the situation, they just want to keep your money. BTW, they dont put it back into the gym, almost every piece of equipment is broken in some way. Avoid this club at all costs...literally.
Definitely needs to do some renovations ASAP. Either that or lower my monthly price. Convenient location but you cant park for too long and needs to get longer hours.
Its a cool gym. 3 levels, full size pool, nice changing rooms, good floorplan on the main level with free weights, racks, and a large open space on the turf. Ample running machines. 3rd floor is the muscle floor with lots of free weights, racks and smith machines. Also the studios for classes are located on 3rd floor. Free 2 n half hour parking in a garage. Located off the orange line. I like coming here.
WARNING: the online registration for classes is always full when its NOT full and there are spaces. As a result, you will NOT be unable to sign up for classes if you have the basic $40 membership. It will cost an additional $20/month to be able to sign up a week in advance for classes. Management does not see this as an issue and would prefer to collect the extra money from members instead of fixing the online registration.
This place sucks. Machines are always broken, place is poorly maintained. I hope this place goes bankrupt!
Very disappointed, I got charge $10 cancelation fee + a full extra month. Customers should be able to cancel at any time without paying.
Its a gym. Its not cheap. But its relatively clean, its pretty big, and they offer a pretty good number of classes. Ive been going for about six years, and it has been busier this year than in the past. But their class instructors are pretty good, about as good as a gym like this can be, given some of those classes have upwards of 30 people at a time. Look - there are meatheads and women walking around looking for attention, or guys on their phone doing abs at the squat station from time to time. They are at every gym. People are usually friendly, and they will leave you alone if you wish to be left alone. Ive gone to Super Fitness before this, and this one is much, much nicer. The basketball court gets pretty packed, and unless you like shooting threes all game long, pickup games there are pretty tough to watch, let alone play. There arent usually many people in the pool, so you should be able to use that frequently if thats what is drawing you here.
Well, I lost 27 pounds in 2 months. Working out every day for 3 hours, sauna, swimming pool and lifting weights --Because how I look now, 2 friends decided to join the gym. I knowThe gym is no the best, but its working for me. Thanks BSC...Jean and crew I appreciate how well you guys take care my niece and nephew. My experience is so far great.
Super clean, a lot of machinr availablr
Not too shabby, especially for the price. I dont know of any other gyms where you can get a pool, basketball courts, sauna, fitness rooms and a punching bag for their price. No ridiculous rules like with Planet Fitness.Avoid peak times to ensure you dont have to wait for equipment. Classes are pretty good as well.
If possible I would give them negative stars. I have been a member for 10+ years and had to cancel due to a move. After sending a certified letter they increased my fees and continued to debit my bank account. I then spoke to the regional manager who stated that no further debits would occur. Yet they debited my account again. Id also like to state that the manager of BSC Wellington has never returned a phone call despite me trying to reach her for over month. They have been deceitful and dishonest. It’s a disgrace and quite possibly the worst customer service I have experienced. It is absolutely shocking to me that this is how they treat someone who has been a member for over 10 years.
Ive been a member here for 2 plus years. The staff/trainers are amazing and among the most friendly and knowledgeable Ive been around. Ive belonged to 3 different gyms in the past 5 years and this is by far the best one Ive been at...and why Im still there.
They are now temporarily closed karma came#sleazy bunch
You should better think twice before subscribing here. You can not quit your subscription right away. Even if you do that, you will be charged extra 45 days fee in addition to that months fee. Dont be FOOLED by their cheap tricks and find a decent gym instead.
Locker room smells like moldy fungus.Broken machines that do not get fixed!(70 dollar maintenance fee yearly)Customer service is equivalent to the smell of the locker rooms. Absolutely horrendous!! I really can’t comprehend how this place is still in business, I’m almost positive it won’t be for much longer.Absolute disgrace of gym.Do not waste your time or money.
Pleasant crowd. I guess they need to update the equipment but everything else is perfect
Went to Boston sports club as a guest today in Medford ma. Staff was incredibly rude, I’ve never seen anything like it. The guest I was with attends every day. They really need to re-evaluate how their staff speaks to people. Will definitely never go back.
This gym is so horrible I dont recommended to anyone the staff is extremely rude to members I witnessed discrimination towards a member there . The machines are always broken and the trainers are very veryyyyyyy rude omg wow Iam very dissatisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terrible!!
0 Stars for the terrible customer service, and stealing my money. I had cancelled my membership ahead its renewal date within their 45 day cancellation notice. BSC then proceeded to charge me a $69 annual fee for the FOLLOWING YEAR, even though I had cancelled before its effective start date with the 45 days of notice. After 3 MONTHS of emailing their team they are still refusing to refund me my money. Shady gym. It is unbelievable and I am still furious about what transpired with them. Kerri Derouche was the woman I dealt with, and would not accept the fact that per the terms of our agreement I was 100% right, and was wrongfully charged. DO NOT let them get your credit card information, because they will screw you eventually.
I signed up to use the basketball court mainly, but the court is closed almost everyday of the week during after-work hours when I would be able to go. Currently the only night that is dedicated for using the basketball court for basketball is Monday. Even on the weekends, large portions of time are unavailable. On top of that the service was apathetic, uncaring, and at times downright rude. Ive asked to speak to a manager countless times and have never been able to, I was even promised an email that I never received. For the price I would expect much, much more.
I have heard and read some nasty comments about your gym. I plan to join and go to gym but I am pondering which one to choose I reside here in Medford.has an advantage is that I love and got to do water aerobics which is great for the body and muscle problems. I emailed you as you asked me to know more details. ThanksI had the opportunity to take a look at the gym and agree that there are some things downgraded and the friendliness of some public attendant is not the best. which leaves me wondering if your space is really the right choice.
Ive been a member since it was built, but over the last year its really gone down hill. The price dropped significantly which unfortunately lead to it being extremely crowded from 3pm - 9pm. The maintenance has been non-existent as many machines, bench, etc. are broken or work poorly. I used to drive out from Davis because that one was so crowded, but now Im looking for a new gym... any suggestions will be helpful.
I had a very horrible experience in this gym. I signed up for a 5 day trial thru an ad online and when I went there the staff were charging 20$ because they said I have visited that gym before. I have never been there in my life. I perhaps had signed up for a day pass before but never attended. The staff were rude and unprofessional. Will never visit that gym again.
This place is a dump but dont dare complain or the manager will treat you like garbage and jump down your throat. Instead of attacking your customers, try picking up a broom once in a while.6/27/17 UPDATE: Although they urged me to write them an email to a customer service email address, my emails (2) went unanswered. They dont care at all about the members, except those with low standards who continue to pay premium membership dues for a dump.
This review is for the training services, specifically training with Olivia. Olivia was my trainer before my pregnancy and almost through the end of my pregnancy. Despite my being Olivias first preggo client, she made sure to research the best exercises for me for each stage of my pregnancy, and was responsive to any needs I had along the way. Olivia is patient and a good person, which makes her a lot of fun to train with! I highly recommend her to anyone interested in training with someone who will listen well to their needs, and I especially recommend her to the ladies visiting the gym!
They try to get you youre not looking, they hide the fact that it costs money to cancel the contract and they try to hide the fact in small print that you have to pay $70 at one time and then $30 to cancel the membership, I have someone who has to pay $100 to cancel the membership. Do not recommend to pay and go to a better, gym. If you pay them, their money hungry pig wallets.
I really like the trainers that lead the classes such as yoga, spin, etc. I do however think that they are trying to make some changes there from a management perspective and it appears to be failing miserably. On my last visit I was greeted by a lady who was scolding some folks for not signing up for a class online; It was a very unprofessional tone. On top of that, if you arent sure you can make the class its best not to sign up or else you get a $5 penalty for not attending the class. I really like this rule though, however, because it really forces me to go.The day-to-day staff seems to be okay. Some are nice and energetic, and some look like they could care less about being there.I do however go their specifically for their class and for that reason, Ill give them a 3 because like I said the class trainers are fantastic! It is possible to have a successful, profitable business, and happy customers. Management, please figure it out.
My job recently moved locations so I have tried to enjoy my experience here but its hard when its just a mess. I think I always hear about a membership complaint in the locker room and I have to thank God I signed up somewhere else. Customer service use to be trash but either I avoid issues or the people I speak to are not the bad apples. My main issue is everythings broken. Machines are old and damaged and no one seems to care to fix it. Its a huge gym in the area but poorly taken care of. I wanted to try some lat pull downs this morning on a cable machine, I had to laugh instead of getting annoyed- the adjusting screw was popping off and It was a workout in itself to twist it back in place. It gets super busy after work so I try and get in in the morning. Ive hopped around a couple BSC gyms whenever I can, this is deff at the bottom of my list but I do my best to make it work.Pro tip to franchise owner: Take a strong look at the equipment before someone gets hurt and sues. Thats it.
Don’t go here save yourself the headache if you ever try to cancel they tell you 40 days and after you pay those 2 months jordan Vetter the sales manager still try to charge you afterwords it’s a complete joke.
Im new to the gym scene and all the trainers have been so helpful and welcoming depending on who you speak with and I dont have a personal trainer, the classes are awesome and access to a pool and court, I wish was 24hours then it would be 5stars
Costumer service is very poor! A lot of times when I go in they don’t even greet you, a lot of times they have groups in the front desk and if they are having a conversation they just grab the key from your hand and don’t even look at you, and just keep going about their chat . It’s very rude . One time I asked if they had small towels and the lady didn’t even bother to look at me and say “ no I’m sorry “ she pointed to the towels and just said “ that’s all we have they are right there” just not welcoming at all .
Stay away from this gym. The staff and management is the worst I have dealt this in my entire life. Ive tried to email their here to help email which they keep replying with for every bad review but they dont even respond. If you join this gym, be sure to read all of the fine print and good luck to you when its time to cancel. They will fail to cancel your membership after several requests and start charging you additional fees on top. The place is a scam of a business and will be out of business sooner rather than later.
Pros: good equipment and basketball courtCons: bathroom is gross. They got so many flying water bugs in the mens showers. The pool smells terrible.Recommend to a friend: only if you really need the basketball court
Honestly would be four stars if they could just fix the equipment. One cable has been broken on and off for months at a time for the past three years.
Classes arent great, trainers spend more time looking at themselves in the mirror than training, locker room is small and crowded and they only have half lockers, often a wait for womens showers in the morning, equipment can spend months being out of repair, management does not respond to complaints, the layout makes no sense.Pool is decent, just wish there were more than 4 lanes and it wasnt all windows (its street level).
Tim has absolutely transformed my exercise regiment, my body health and mind health. To train with someone who is so knowledgeable, and encouraging has been an absolutely positive experience. Im very grateful for the m day that I said, ok Ill try to Tim as I was about to leave the BSC forever, six years ago.
Always Dirty! Everywhere!I noticed a bottle of water in the 3rd floor for more then 30 days at the same spot.Workout machines Stays broken for days. It’s been a long time now having a issue with no hot water.Very disappointed with this gym.Back in the days BSC used to be the NUMBER 1 GYM. BUT NOW.OMGHOPE NEW MANAGEMENT TAKE OVER THIS BUSINESS SOON.
Rita and Sammy, two of the staff, were very helpful in introducing us to the gym and equipment! However, the cost for what you get at the gym just isnt worth the combined drive for my wife and me. $90/month isnt worth the VERY outdate equipment. A lot of folks are perfectly fine making due, especially considering how clean the overall gym feels. That being said, $1000+/year for two people at a gym with outdate equipment is not worth the value.
***This is a review for personal training with Sarah Ikerd***. I’ve been a “gym guy” for years but workouts get boring. In a physical fitness rut I needed a change of pace. I ran into Sarah as she was hosting a free “Intro to Olympic Weightlifting” class. I’m very comfortable in the weight room, but I inevitably injure myself every couple months, likely due to bad form, and I hate cardio. Sarah is a very good instructor, breaking compound movements into smaller segments, focusing on proper form before weight, and explaining what prt of the body is moving the weight. Over our training sessions, she has designed a program for me and my goals, and it changes before it gets dull. It’s a great mix of traditional lifting, bodyweight exercises, and moves to strengthen core - all stuff I wasn’t doing on my own. For gym newbies or experienced but bored weightlifters, I recommend training with Sarah I!!!
Worst management ever. Make sure you know what are you signing up for before you make a commitment with this place. They will take your money and will be rude to you once you decide you dont want to have a membership there anymore. Bad customer service, they dont even try to make their custumers happy. The equipment is always out of order and old. Not worth the money. Youre better off at YMCA or planet fitness.
Horrible Management! I called on Nov16th to cancel my membership, they lady I talked to said its gonna take 45 days and thats it. Its been MORE THAN 2 MONTHS and they keep charging me for membership! Today I called again to ask why theyre still charging. One of the managers said there is no cancellation request on my membership. I said I called more than 2 months ago, she said there is no note or anything! Then she asked me to prove it!! She asked me to prove that I requested to cancel my membership months ago, plus she added phone call is not a proof! Is this a joke!? I dont have to pay extra because of your unprofessional employees and managers!
Don’t go to this BSC. Half of Boston comes here to just sit and talk. Oddly, South Station, Downtown Crossing, and Back Bay are much cleaner and less trafficked.
I recently joined the BSC Medford location. It’s great! The guy who signed me up was very clear about all of the policies and fees and made sure before I signed the agreement ( not sure why there are so many negative reviews about that) he also gave me a login so I can check my account! The staff has been super friendly and helpful! I even got a welcome call from the general manager right after I signed up. I would definitely recommend this gym
My favorite bsc. Its big, has plenty of new equipment, the machines all work smoothly, garage parking, a larger pool than the South station and Boylston locations, and its clean and well maintained. I love that there are multiple fitness areas that are not a maze to get through (and they still have the orange hair conditioner 😀)
Great place with excellent equipment, very knowledgeable trainers, much more than a regular gym.
Just cancelled my membership today, this place is not worth the money it costs and its not as clean as you would think. Only reason I decided to sign up to this specific gym was because they allowed you to bring a guest each visit. Well all of a sudden that changed, without proper communication. I bring my sister here and there. As we are about to check in last night, the man at the desk asked if shes been there before. I said yes, so he told me about the policy they have about guests. Supposedly you can only bring people once, and if the person comes back they have to pay $10 per visit. I told the man that I had been coming here for almost a year and never heard about this nonsense. So I asked him to show me where this policy was written. He said there were signs around the gym on February but they were taken down and no longer had them. I just find it ridiculous that a business can come up with a new policy, dont bother notifying members properly, cant even post it on their website or mention it on their contracts. This man stood there enforcing this policy when he couldnt even show me where it was. I had no major complaints about this gym up until now, unfortunately for me it was a deal breaker. Very disappointing.
The parking should be a lot better and FREE! but, it’s whatever I like it.
Do you have your own parking for members?
If you join, it will take you forever to quit. Somebody needs to start a class action suit. Ive been a member of various Boston Sports Club locations and as I moved around, had kids, had injuries Ive had to quit and usually join another later. Every time Ive tried to quit, even with the month to month option they make you talk to the manager who is totally unresponsive and makes you chase them. This usually results in an extra month or two of dues being charged until you can track them down. This happens at all locations and other people complain of the same thing. Imagine all the extra revenue they generate across all the gyms for all those people they intentionally give the run around! This seems like a case where somebody should try a class action suit with all former members to recover the hundreds of thousands of dollars in memberships paid by this systematic practice of delay. And thats just in the Boston are clubs. If this were to be found a practice corporate wide then a much bigger suit. Hey wait, instead of waiting another week for the Wellington BSC to call me back I bet I could get a lawyer to call me faster.
I just had the worst experience entering BSC Wellington for first time in 6 years.. All started as soon as I walked in with a return customer who hasn’t been to this gym since 2016 and wanted to revisit it and possibly get membership. We were greeted by front desk immediately asking us to pay 20$ . Shortly after Paul Walker Sales manager came over and immediately said its a 20$ fee since he has been here in 2016. But he failed to inform us that maybe we can have your buddy sign up for 30 day promotion we have going on which would be 45$ as posted on BSC website to try since he hasn’t been to Gym over 2 year. I’m very disappointed in the way I was treated as a 7 year member of Boston Sports Club and it’s a shame to see people with title of any management level treat a walk up and future client with that kind of attitude!! Unfortunately I can’t score my experience a 0 and forced to give my experience a 1 ..
If I could say how this gym is in two words it would be: Complete disappointment. This was my first time going and we went to the locker rooms which were nasty and Unmaintained with tiny lockers, unlike PF. Then my husband wanted to play basketball and he had waited at least two hours and it was still full and he couldn’t play. This gym was literally packed up to every machine. I also used a family bathroom on the upper level that was literally the definition of FILTHY it was disgusting with trash EVERYWHERE I have pictures that I wish I could post on here. I don’t understand why someone would pay double the price for something planet fitness can offer a lot better with such better locations and hours as well. The front desk agents did not even say hi or smile or do anything pleasant and just wanted to know if I’ve been there before and have me go away. Definitely not paying this much just to have a pool and basketball court that we cannot even use 99% of the time. Not a chance to ever go back to this gym at any location.
Lets hope due to COVID the WORST GYM In History will close forever!
Terrible. Hot water never works. Equipment all broken and seldom fixed. Increased rates with little notice, but they make it extremely hard to cancel membership. Go elsewhere.
Its a decent facility but showers area could be cleaner.
Very rude staff. Just so you know.. cancellations is actually at least $140.We deserve new management and TEAM members. And yes, I payed that to cancel.
Still the best place to workout regardless
This gym keeps getting worse, unorganized, customer service pick and chose whom they greets. Locker room is a jungle, towels and trash everywhere .. members dont care about the cleanliness of the gym and staff dont care either.. theres no lotion nor tissues.. smells like old shoes.. and the sauna is barely clean always smells. Its nothing compare to when I first got there.. I know you guys invested in gronk program etc.. theres so much more that needs to be done.. I hear a lot of members complaining so thought Id let you guys know.
1. the equipment is very old and outdated and usually a large amount of the equipment is broken at any given time. additionally, because there are a bunch of members, there is always a line for machines. 2. the staff is unfriendly whenever you walk in to the door and usually does not help when asked. they are usually talking with one another and do not rush to help the members when walking in or having questions. 3. I have had to call 4 times to the gym to try and cancel my membership due to the reasons above and I cannot even get in touch with the manager to start the process of cancelling. They are either not there or in meetings. All of these reasons are completely unacceptable
If I could give 0 stars I would. The club overall is really nice but the staff is horrible and the cleanliness of the gym is questionable- so much dust on the cardio machines. Trying to cancel your membership is nearly impossible. I put a request to cancel my membership and when I followed up a week later it was never submitted. With the extra week added now I will get charged an extra month. When I tried to get a hold of anyone in management the front desk was shockingly rude, I dont understand how they can get away with talking to people like that. I worked in a gym for 5 years handling gym memberships so I know first hand it is not a difficult task to cancel a membership (or answer the phone at that note.)
The Gym used be very nice until they changed the price for 20$ membership. Now, the gym gets so busy and u have to wait for more than 10min to get a bench and also there is not enough equipment for the amount of members. I pay 80$ full member but I dont use the classes I try to change my member for 20$ And I have to pay 140$ to change my contract. Also the other issue is the parking. They give us 2:30hrs free parking at the garage. Due to the pick time and waiting for to get a place now I spend more time than 2:30hrs and I have to pay little extra for parking. So, if they change the price for less they should put more equipment.
The customer service is horrible! I don’t know it just happened to me or what? I have no idea why the membership fee increases annual without any notice to me, and I don’t even know who and when there is a additional agreement to my membership and charged me every month. And there is still cancellation fee. It is unpleasant customer experience here.
