I’ve called multiple times the same response every time disrespectful and rude. I’m paying for a membership that I can’t even use because they’re remodeling their batting cages for three months now. I am tired of wasting money on them the manager won’t even talk when I asked multiple times I have called 10 times and they’ve only answered one.
Horrible business. After a billing error on thier part. I called and spoke to a very snippy and defensive manager. The owner only reached out after a BBB complaint was made. And be careful leaving a bad review in social media, the staff will begin harassing you!
I would not give this place 1 star at all!!!Just has the worst customer service ever by manager Heidi! My child attended their 45 min hip hop class which was fine at the moment so we signed up. My child then decided not to attend after all. I called and asked to cancel. We were 1 day shy from the 3 day policy and would not get refunded. I was livid and could not believe this. when signing up i was not given the option to read the policy and was told they would be emailed to me. I was charged prorated amount, 30.00 annual fee and soon 75.00 for a costume. I asked kindly for a full refund but the manager Heidi was so snappy, very rude and truly unprofessional!!! After this conversation she continued to escalate. I asked to speak to the owner “ his name is don and I will not give his number” before I could say anything else she transferred me to this owner where I left a voice mail and waiting to hear back. I do not want to be a member at all of this gym ever!I do not recommend this place at all! The fees are ridiculous and service is the the worst. I recommend at least a beginners customer service class to those who deal with customers especially the manager Heidi!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! One woman there in particular talks to everyone like they are bothering her! Ive called a few times to ask questions and then went in and its the same treatment every time! After reading other reviews I can see there are several people that have felt the same way by the front desk staff!! Do these owners just not care? Obviously someone is related. As far as swim and gymnastics, Im thoroughly impressed, but can not tolerate how horrible the customer service is!
The staff is supportive and caring. Russ O Connor is always encouraging and a terrific leader. Ryan Riley continues to amaze me with the amount of time he takes to make sure each child understands what they are learning. The gymnastic and swimming coaches are truly a blessing. Thank you to all of the staff. They are simply AMAZING!!!!!
Signed my son up for swim lessons, and the first two were great. Then the instructor was gone, and the two who were filling in for her had absolutely NO CLUE what they were doing. Myself and several other parents had to actually do the lesson, and they dunked one little girl under water, even though she wasn’t ready. I was not going to pay for lessons I had to try to do, and so I cancelled. I was on automatic bill pay and every month they billed me a $5.00 late fee even though it was their fault. She says I need to send an email verifying I’m pulling him out so I do. This is after I pay for the month but I get it, I don’t expect a refund. They proceed to bill me for TWO MORE MONTHS, plus a late fee! I refused to pay, and they were adamant I owed them. So they sent it off to collections. I do NOT recommend this place. I got eight lessons at the YMCA for $45. And they were a million times better than their attempt at swim lessons.
Such a great place. My daughter goes to gymnastics here three times a week. Coaches are amazing, especially Coach Andrea! If you child is shy she definitely knows how to make them feel comfortable and helps them adjust so easily. Again, a place I definitely recommend to anyone thinking about gymnastics!
My daughter has been doing gymnastics here for several years and my son dose karate! We love love love the staff! The instructors and coaches are great with the kids and the owner is very involved as well. A great group of people! Highly recommend ABK to everyone
Horrible customer service. The front office staff makes continuing classes there almost impossible. The front office manager Heidi is rude and condescending, she couldn’t care less about loosing business!! My family will miss their coaches, best coaches- worst customer service!!On a side note- if you read through the reviews, there are of course several with the same concerns, or some wrote no reasoning and ABK’s response to that almost feels defensive and rude. Insane how the manage their company!Take your business somewhere else! It won’t be appreciated here!!
The karate instructors have been awesome with my son. Breaking him out of his shell and helping him accomplish his goal of becoming a black belt. He wants to eventually become an instructor here. The gymnastics coaches are great with my daughter supportive and keeping her on track as a competitive gymnast. We have been here several years and have had good experiences accross the board.
They would have a 5 star if I was rating their daycare program. A 2 star if rating their front desk staff. And also a 2 star if rating my childs experience with their gymnastic program. The gymnastics instructor crushed my childs ambition with no resolve.
The gymnastics classes at ABK have been fantastic for both my kids. We have had the pleasure of having Andrea coach and she consistently provides encouragement and new goals to achieve for both my 3 and 6 year old. Andrea loves what she does and it shows. 😊 Thanks Andrea for all you do and all your love! 🙌🏻😍
Dance class is glorified babysitting. Instructor not very involved and seems disinterested. Looking elsewhere.
Scheduled a birthday party for my son there. The kids had an awesome time and the staff really went out of their way to make it a wonderful experience. Will be coming back
I have not had any problems with payment but I also havent cancel either. What I do know is the swim instructor have been amazing. My daughter has been doing swim since she was 18 months old in the first class and has worked her way to dolphin 2 the 3rd class. ABK swim has helped us through a lot of rough times with her. From not wanting to be in the water, to screaming the whole time because a change in instructor, to learning basic sign to help teach my daughter swim. I cant say enough good things about the swim class. They have been on point every time. I cant say anything about the other programs as we havent tried them yet but we will as soon as we know our daughter can handle it.
My kids LOVE coming to their classes each week! From Gymnastics to Karate and Swim each program has been awesome!
If it wasn’t for the amazing coaches and instructors at ABK we probably would of left much sooner. The front office staff is rude and always offers to cancel classes for you instead of listening and helping resolves the issues being addressed. We will miss all of the amazing coaches, yet excited about moving forward with a different company who seems to already value our business more within one phone call and one lesson, than the 5 loyal years we have given ABK.
The CourtHouse is GREAT for individuals & families. There is a very large selection of modern equipment both downstairs & upstairs, Kid’s Sport Programs, Indoor batting cages, basketball courts, volleyball courts, indoor soccer, daycare, physical therapy and they are constantly adding more & more amenities. The ownership & staff go out of their way to ensure members are happy and always take suggestions to improve upon the experience.Medford finally has a gym facility that promotes families spending time & staying healthy together.
So far weve really liked the classes at ABK. Both of our young kids really enjoy the gymnastics class. The instructors are attentive and kind. Same goes for the karate class which our daughter just started. Im sure well be signing up for swimming and dance classes at some point too. The facility is nice and they have plenty of activities going all day.
We love ABK swim lessons for our toddler. He has learned to swim under water, jump in and swim to us, float on his back, get out of pool on his own, blow bubbles etc.... He just loves the water now and I think it is because at ABK they teach the kids to go under water right when they start at such a young age. The class is fun and I always recommend it to my friends as I feel it is the best class in the area. Thank you:)
We love ABK, our grandson has been in Karate over 10 years, 4 back East and the past 6 here at ABK. Love the support from Mr. OConnor. The kids are very well behaved and the staff is very influential and do a great job! 👍
ABK, and specifically the Dance program with Miss Erica, is hands down the best thing that ever happened to our family! She runs the best dance program and has led the competition team to so many trophy wins, and I know we havent seen the end of the excitement at ABK!! 100% suggest dancing with ABK!!
Great after school program! Kids have loved during the school year and summer
Excuse the profile name, this is Lisa McEntire. We have been attending ABK for 10 years; from mommy and me tumbling classes, swimming, gymnastics, dance camp, several birthday parties, and the after-school and summer programs. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, and programs offered. All of the staff members have been truly caring, take the time to listen, and seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. Both my kids learned to swim here, many gymnastics skills, some fun dance routines, and had a blast with the outstanding staff in the after-school program. Many people seem to complain re: cancellation policies; I would recommend reading and understanding all policies prior to signing up. They are very straightforward, upfront, and transparent about their policies. It’s truly a great place to be, many staff members feel like family to us! ❤️
My granddaughter gas been taking karate lessons from ABK for almost 4 years and she loves it. The instructors and the overall community of ABK is amazing!
I came here for a two year olds birthday. He had fun. My four year old had a good time, too.My rating reflects the party experience. Never had a class here.
The programs are good but during swim lessons for very young children they blast the music WAY too loud. It is inappropriate for such young childrens ears.
ABK has been home to my daughter for her Dance and swim lesson for the past two years. We have been always greeted at the front door as we enter, as she enters class the teachers are accountable to that she is there and they are attentive to her needs. While in classes she is encouraged to grow not only in the physical part of swimming or dance she is also challenged to responsible for herself. during swim they teacher water safety along side the swim lessons. This way if there was a water emergency she is prepared. The instructors make sure that she understood the concepts of the emergency, how to stay safe herself and call for help. the instructors are highly skilled and easy to talk to. I recommend ABK to all children and suggest parents to just give ABK a call they will walk you through all your questions concerning what your child interests are.
This class was great despite the higher cost. Our two year old was in the gymnastic class (as common sense its more in the play, not to raise an Olympic champion) and instructor gal was awesome. It was good, kids and parent play and let energy out. One day, the instructor quit. Hell broke loose when the owner started to teach the class. Imagine a female Hitler that requires 2 year old to follow instructions and obey orders. If not, the parent will get some warning and not so nice comments. So, if you want your two year old and yourself in the boot camp with monthly fees and membership fees, you should sign up. Ask around for feedbacks before signing up.
My kids love it! We do dance, tumble, and karate.
This review is based solely on their fees required to hold a childs space in their preschool program. The paperwork, which I will admit I read wrong states: A non-refundable $30.00 registration fee and $75 materials fee is required to reserve your child/youths space in the program. I read that as the $30 is non-refundable and assumed the $75 was. I cancelled my childs spot with 4 months advance notice and am told all $105 is non-refundable. I completely understand the $30 registration fee, but $75 in supplies? He hasnt even started there, what supplies could you possibly have used. Thats an outrageous amount of money, when youre given 4 months notice. This policy should be changed and I wont recommend a facility that doesnt allow for any wiggly room. Advance notice is a must, and I understand that, but taking $105 for doing nothing but registering him in the computer and holding a spot is ridiculous.
Many great programs and helpful commutited staff. Parents might complain about price but I’ve never heard a child complain about experience.
This place and all of its affiliates are nothing but a money hungry racket! They sign people up with decent prices, but change their payment methods later in the year and do not inform half of their clientele to make them pay ridiculous late fees and increase profits! Do not be schemed into joining one of these awful places!!! ABK kids and Athletic edge for sure, dont know how many other businesses these owners are using to take advantage of people!!!
Ive been doing my training here to become a swim instructor and the swim teachers here are wonderful. Theyre nice, funny, and work really well with the kids; both being gentle and pushing them when needed.
Not recommended. (UPDATE: Left this review a couple years ago. Per ABKs recent request asking if I want to communicate anything, Im assuming they want me to share with the public what Ive already discussed with management and was not resolved. Bottom line:, they overcharged me and never resolved. But that was not what earned the 1 star. They tore down my childs love for gymnastics. To this day (years later) my child does not want anything to do with it. Prior to her experience, it was part of her identity)
Take your kids to the YMCAOverpriced, poorly run, extorted an extra month of payment! We were living in Medford temporarily and wanted to keep up with our infant daughters swim classes. We explained our circumstance to the staff at our first lesson, but were told we had signed their agreement so tough luck. Two classes equals $107.50 Then they threatened and extorted to send my balance of $55 to collections. There are better people to do business with in the Rogue Valley.
Ive loved ABK since we started my oldest about 10 years ago but these guys are hard up for cash obviously called Monday July 23rd before soccer on Tuesday July 24th to report our son was no longer interested in soccer, we were told we had to come in and tell them in person which we did Tuesday July 24th. we went one or two more times in August since we paid for it. now these lovely people double charged me saying we never reported it in July, so I could keep Ryder in swim. Watch these people they will sham you. Not happy at all, already upped their prices and now this....
The coaches are great. And I love it here!!!
My kids have loved participating in programs here as theyve aged. They have also acquired leadership skills as junior counselors and now as coaches they are getting amazing work experience. ABK was amazing for us when we first moved to the Rogue Valley bc it created an instant community for my kids.
Karate Instructor, Gymnastics Coaches, and Front Desk staff care about the kids not only during their time there but giving them life lessons. Great And Caring Place
Excellent gymnastics program. Competent, professional coaches, great attitudes, and the kids are happy. Highly recommended.
This place is great for recreational gymnastics:) send your little ones here!
Wonderful if you are good for signing up for overpriced and poorly run facility. BTW, if you cancel verbally and never show up again, you WILL go to collections, as they did with someone I know. And they are not willing to work with you even over an honest mistake. That said, spend your time and money in the community at a not-for-profit, such as the Y or Santos Center. The front-end customer service person, named Heidi, is clearly uninformed and unhelpful. This is a poorly run business that preys on parents and their kids.Ill be curious what Don, the owner, has to say about my experience if he returns my call....which is unlikely. They all seem very cowardice there in terms of addressing real issues.
At first I loved taking my son to the karate classes. After a few months they closed the karate school in Central Point, which was closer to my home, and he had to attend classes at the Medford location. All was ok until my husband starting losing hours at work and we were struggling to keep food in the house for our 2 children. When I contacted the main instructor he told me there was nothing that could be done and we would have to make the $98 a month payments or be sent to collections. I explained to him that we could not afford this, let alone the gas that it took commuting to Medford 2-3 days a week. He did not care and kept telling me I had to make the payments and might as well make it worth it by bringing my son to classes. After months of talking to him about our situation he agreed to put us on a payment plan for the remaining balance of $1800!!!! He said he would mail the paperwork to me to get the payment plan arranged, but I never received it. When I called about it I was told it was mailed and they would send another. I still have never received one. This place is unorganized and unprofessional. My son received all of his belts in the wrong size and they would not replace them unless I paid the fee for them again and they would cancel or change classes at the last minute. I would have given it no stars but you cannot post a review without giving a star.
I dont know who in their right mind would leave their children in the care of these people. Sure, at first I thought they seemed great. However, now that Ive learned my lesson, their business practices show a serious lack of integrity and responsibility, which people need to be aware of.My child came home on more than one occasion with bruises and scratches, telling me that another child had harmed them during free-time in the bathroom. Upon further investigation, I discovered that the bully had gotten off without so much as a warning. Apparently this establishment has no prescribed method of consequence for misbehavior.... even physical violence against other children. At least, thats the explanation I was given by my childs teacher. When I inquired about the fact that this had happened in the bathroom, I was told that the children are supposed to bring a buddy with them, but that they would allow several children at a time to use the restroom without supervision. Who on earth allows several 5-year-olds to swarm the bathroom all at once? Its just asking for mischief to take place. (Wrongly) I assumed that if I arranged to speak to the owners and staff involved, they would surely listen and respond responsibly. I kept my cool but was nevertheless met with sarcasm and disbelief... even though my child still had the bruises on her face and arms. Needless to say, the owners were not particularly concerned about what had transpired, and I promptly ended our registration that day. My child and I were treated with the utmost disrespect and I am still in shock. For the amount of money they made off of me (just another sucker to them, apparently), youd think that they would have tried their hardest to at least keep the gravy train coming... since its obvious that money is their priority over, say, the safety of small children left in their care.I urge anyone considering sending their kids to Americas Worst Kids to please consider what happened to my child. Bullying is a huge issue in todays world and when an establishment such as this one does nothing to prevent bullying, it is contributing to a worse society and harming mental health in very young people. Ask yourself if this is a risk youre willing to take.P.S. The Better Business Bureau and Child Services didnt have much to offer when I delved into the possibilities of launching an investigation. Play it safe and dont let it get that far.And one more thing.... if you actually calculate how many stars they get from Google reviews its actually 3.25... not 4.1.... not sure how they could mess that up.
Sent us to collections for classes we never took after I cancelled my card so they would stop billing me. Were also INCREDIBLY rude and just about left me in tears. Will NEVER give them my legitimized business. Sneaky, rude, underhanded establishment.
My child almost drowned right in front of two instructors and if it wasnt for us noticing her they would have not seen or known she was underwater.
Always looks busy.
