Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful experience I had at Gershow Recycling! Everyone who worked there was friendly and inviting. Although much of the experience went well, I still have not received, to my knowledge, a SIGNED bill of sale or receipt showing that I sold the car.I was not asked to sign the title, and was paid in cash. Besides an Excel document, which I could have easily made myself, there is absolutely no proof that I dont still own, and am responsible for, the vehicle.This issue has been brought up several times.EDIT: I bumped it from 2 to 4 stars because after several contacts the did provide me with the documentation I needed.

Scheduled a pick up for Monday and was told driver would pick up between 8 am - 10 am. At 9:45 am, after not hearing from driver, I called to find out that I on list for pick up but paperwork didnt print. Driver wanted to schedule another day which would not work for us. After going back and forth, they finally agreed to pick up vehicle after 2:00 pm. Driver arrived around 2:50 pm - process went smoothly, but driver also told us that we should have tried to get rid of the vehicle privately. We would have gotten more money for it due to the condition of the vehicle!

I called a few different places to get rid of an immobile junker with no title or keys, got a lot of hassle from really grumpy, not very professional people. Gershow was completely professional from the first phone call all the way through. The driver they sent, Ken, was a really nice guy with great demeanor who showed up early and the junker was taken care of within minutes of him showing up. Hopefully wont need them anytime soon but it was a pleasure and I will absolutely call them first if I ever need this kind of service again.

Not sure if all companies require that sellers send copies of title and drivers license prior to pick up, but I found that process trying. Once the pick up time was scheduled, the tower then changed it twice to an earlier time, with the last change being 20 minutes prior to new pick up time. To their defense, I did state that I was open to earlier pick up and that the car was 5 min from my house. Still, 20 minutes (8:30am) was a bit short notice. In the end, the process was organized and cash at pick up was a plus. Will definitely recommend it to others. Got the highest quote of about 15 calls I made. Be aware that, if you are not at pick up spot timely, you will lose the whole deal with the quoted amount. Also, many of the companies and different phone numbers you dial, seeking for quotes will send you to Peddle (read reviews at BBB) and each time will yield a lower quote. Dont give too much personal information while quote fishing as they record it and will know that you called before, thus offering you less $. I had an overall good experience.

I call on a Tuesday and my car was picked up the following day by mid afternoon. Service was excellent and friendly. Would use them again in a heartbeat.

They were quick to respond to my request. They called and gave me an offer and at first I wasnt going to accept it. However, the kind girl on the phone asked me what I was looking to get out of my car and if I had any other offers. when I told her the highest offer I had received from other junk yards, she matched it. Driver showed up the next morning. No questions asked. He paid me first and all I had to do was give him the keys and title. It was that easy.

We donated our car to Kars for Kids, and Gershow made the process extremely easy! They were kind and courteous, and made sure we had a convenient two-hour window for the car to be picked up.

Place is good but the person who unloads the junk cars (stanly). Is very rude. Makes you wait 20 min just before he touches your car gives you a attitude if u say anything he’s trash he should be fired or put some where else I Called and they don’t care. Place sucks .......

The entire process of recycling my broken down Hyundai Sonata with Gershow was seamless from start to finish. Prices around NYC are generally much better.Make ABSOLUTELY sure that you categorize AND have your scrap weighted SEPARATELY or youll be paid a crappy mixed scrap price (which can lose you 1/3 its value or more).Learned that the hard way. Seriously, almost all scrap metal spots try to pull this one. This spot is no exception.Just separate by metal and type(copper pipe and fittings in one bucket, bare copper wire in another, and so on) and be ADAMANT about separate weighings and you will be fine.

Then we got screwed over. We surrendered the vehicle as *scrap* only to have some idiots in the back tell me that they are going to use it in a demo derby in riverhead. So you idiots screw us out of the full scrap value just so you can attempt to make money off of it? Brilliant. Next time keep your mouth shut and think before you open it next time. We highly appreciate you screwing us over.Payout reduction due to tires and seats... Uh huh... Definitely will NOT be recommending this chizzle factory.And I can care less if I regret this.------------------------------------Update: Recently attempted to contact them for a resolution at the email address provided in their response. The email was rejected due to the address being nonexisten. Instead we emailed them through their website. Provided name, phone number, and ticket number as requested. No response in over a week. Customer service is definitely NOT their priority.------------------------------------Update 2: Forced to run a paid VIN check to find out the whereabouts of this vehicle and its current status. And finally it came up as Scrapped/Destroyed... Two months later... While I may be satisfied with this. I still wouldnt recommend scrapping any large heavy vehicles with them. Pro tip. Disassemble the vehicle yourself to get the most out of the scrapyards in general. Dont let any scrapyard make the money off of you. Let this lesson learned for future generations. Im done with this review and will no longer update it. Any response will be discarded and ignored.
