My wife, friends and I had a really great experience renting a boat from Fish n Fun. I think I rented from them previously as well when they were at a different location. We rented a boat for a full day but only needed it for the second half of the day. We let them know wed arrive around midday and Ray met us at the dock and showed us everything about the boat and explained everything to us. He gave us some tips about good sandbars nearby to hang out at. The boat we got was a 21 Hurricane Deckboat and it was great for us to just go boat around and hang out and swim in the water. A really fun experience for us and I try to never miss the opportunity to go down and rent a boat in the Keys when Im I S. Florida. The only issue is that it can be tough sometimes to get ahold of Fish n Fun via phone and sometimes via email. It would be great if they added communication via text message or Whatsapp which could make it easier for short, quick exchanges of information like Hey, well be arriving at 11:00am to pick up the boat. But the actual experience with the boat was great and we had a blast with the boat. 👍

Absolutely the best customer service you can ask for!! They made it so easy to book, rent, and return. I showed up, everything was walked through perfectly and explained down to the detail. Ray and Barbara were a pleasure to work with. We came during a very busy lobster season weekend but they still took time to carefully go through the boat with us, show us where we could take the boat for a good snorkel, etc. Both boats we rented were in good overall condition with nice, newer Yamaha saltwater engines and pricing was very fair. We will rent from them again!

Go somewhere else! Do not rent from this guy! The boat was old and the floor had softened (probably due to age). The owner must have run some 2x4s under the floor to strengthen it. There were multiple screws on the floor of the boat with the pointed side up that were protruding past the floor. You could barely see them but you could feel them! Like thick needles poking threw the floor. Our kids were stepping on them and one of them bled. We rented the boat for a few days and it was nonrefundable. We called the owner while out in the boat the first day to address the screws that were cutting our feet. We wanted to drive back to the dock and have him fix it that same day. We would have been back by 4:30 or little sooner. He did not want to work past 4pm so he rudely said if there are screws (because he was acting like we were making it up) then he will fix it tomorrow. The phone conversation was not handled with professionalism. He was rude, condescending and talked to us as though we were making up a story about the floor of the boat. The next day he saw the screws and took care of it. But, no apology or acknowledgment that we were telling the truth.If he were professional and cared about his customer he would have fixed the issue the same day we called and GIVE AN APOLOGY for the inconvenience and for our kids stepping on the pointed SHARP screws. We did this trip to go snorkeling so of course there were bare feet on the boat.We also paid way too much for the boat. It was a lot older in person than the pictures from the website!!!

I rented the 20 Cape Horn. The staff gave a very good safety brief and were able to answer all of our questions. The boat was the highlight of the vacation. Return process was easy and the prices were fair.

We decided last minute to rent a boat for a few days. They worked us in and we had a fantastic time exploring the area. The equipment was solid and very reasonably priced. Captain Ray gave us a very good orientation. We had no problems at all.

We rented a boat for 4 days and had to pay for the rental all up front when we reserved it. I asked the lady on the phone, what if the weather is bad? her response was that they would not expect us to use the boat in bad weather. I had called other boat rentals in the area and they said they would refund the money if the weather is bad so I assumed her communication was along those lines. I guess I should have been more persistent on the communication when I asked her. Our last day to go out in the boat it was raining hard with a little bit of thunderstorms. I had checked the weather before booking and it was forecasted to be Sunny with low chance of rain and no thunderstorms for the full 4 days. Our last day the weather forecast had changed to 100% rain throughout the day with scattered thunderstorms. We requested a refund for that day and the owner (who is a grumpy man) quickly said no. We politely told him the weather forecast while all stand in the pouring rain and he said NO again.Also, the boat on the website looked beautiful and when we saw it in person my heart sank. We already paid for it and it was nonrefundable. The boat was 10-15 yrs older then the pictures on the website reflect. It was pretty rough. The engine was old as well and would over heat. While it was running it ran okay. If we rode around for a while and stopped for just a few min the engine would have a hard time cranking back up. My father who is a well experienced boater said the engine is old and it was overheating.We also paid a ton of money for gas as the engine was old and inefficient.I feel a lot of the reviews that are 5 stars are a joke. Probably fake reviews. The lady and the Grumpy old man who owns the boat rental are super rude, sassy, and will talk down to you!!!!!

My girlfriend and couldn’t be happier with Fish ‘N Fun and our boat, a 20ft Cape Horn center console. Prices were affordable and Captain Ray was very welcoming, attentive explaining all of the rules and helping us pick out bait. We showed up a bit late for our 8am rents and Ray politely explained he was just finishing up with another customer, then he briefed me and another gentleman at the same time. He made sure we were totally acclimated to our boat and navigation info. Perfect day at Sombrero reef, trolling about 4miles off shore and snorkeling. We’ll be back!...David and Bea.

Want to thank Ray and Fish n Fun for our experience with the SeaHunt Escape during the week of 6/20/20 - 6/27/20. This was our 4th year renting this specific boat from them and it worked out perfect once again for our 8 people. The pickup on the 1st day and the drop off on the last day were both super fast and easy. We are avid boaters in Florida waters so we’re perfectly aware that unfortunate things can occur even when your doing everything right. On the last day we grazed an unknown submerged object and the leading edge of one prop blade was damaged beyond repair. Just like in my own boats I knew I had bought the prop. I was expecting to have to pay for the prop and hub and that was fine. Just like at home and just like in my boats I would be paying as expected. What I did not expect was the call the next day from Ray letting me know that he had removed and examined the hub and that he felt the hub was fine and would not be included in the charge. WOW!!!! A boat rental company that cares so much to do the work to remove the hub to inspect instead of just charging the customer. In Florida, that type of service is way above my expectations. Then Ray informed me of the replacement price of the Prop. I have purchased many a Prop over the years and I know how much pain in the butt labor can be involved when it doesn’t pull easily and I can say what Fish n Fun charged me was about 30% less than what it would have cost me to just order the prop from West Marine.Fish n fun has been and will continue to be the only Marathon area boat rental company I use. It’s customer service like mentioned above and countless other things about them that keep us coming back to them for our boat rental needs. Boats and boating is expensive and trailering our own 350 miles has proved in the past to be about the same cost as a weekly rental from Ray once I add in all the things you always repair / upgrade/ service before a long trip. Just changing out 4 sets of bearings and throwing on 4 tires adds up to the first 3 days of the rental at fish n fun. It’s a no brainer for me.PS. If you don’t understand how the Florida tourism industry works with reviews let me tell you. Their are shady groups of employers that reward their employees for bashing competitors on the reviews. It happens all over Orlando all the way down to the keys. So don’t always believe the reviews that are so over the top ridiculous. Businesses that have been in business for many many years don’t keep it going by pissing people off. It just doesn’t happen that way. When we arrived Ray made sure we were confident before leaving and even took time to help us plan our day out on our chart. I would 100% Recommend renting from Fish ‘n Fun.

We rented the 21’ deck boat from Fish N’ Fun, and had a great time. We called last minute, the morning of the day we wanted to rent it. We kind of fly by the seat of our pants. Captain Ray was very accommodating. He dropped his plans that afternoon to squeeze our group in. He taught us about the boat, explained the rules/laws, and made sure we felt comfortable taking a boat out on the ocean, before he let us go out. I rented a boat over here, it was good service and great price in the summer.I was supposed to write review at that time. But it is never too late post one.I will definitely come back next time on Key West vacation.

Booked it on 1-5-21 for 1-6-21. They charged me for the rental. When I showed up on the 6th we were concerned about the conditions of the ocean. Tried to cancel and was told it was non refundable. I would not recommend this company, use someone that the Chamber of Commerce recommends. Lesson learned. I should have never signed the lengthy contract and all the stipulations.

We were interested in renting a boat while on vacation so we stopped at the Duck Key marina for information. We spoke with Ray who was rude, arrogant, and condescending right off the bat. I can only assume the boat rental would’ve been just as disappointing. Needless to say, we did NOT rent from him and will tell everyone we know to avoid this place at all costs!

Captain Ray was awesome! He set us up with a nice boat, Bimini top, 200hp motor and told us where to snorkel, where to cruise, where to have lunch. 8 of us in the boat, had a blast. It was cheaper for us to have the boat all day (8-4) than to go on a 3 hr snorkeling cruise with the resort. Memories for a lifetime!

Excellent service from this company! Very thorough and they delivered the boat to us. The boat was clean and comfortable and they gave us a lot of good information on the area. They are our go to boat rental company now as we have rented from others and find this company to be so professional and they go above and beyond to make things happen!

Overall good experience. Ray has a down to business approach that may come off as a bit gruff, but considering what he deals with day in and day out renting multiple boats its quite understandable. Bottom line is you get a pretty nice, dependable boat for a fair rate in a great location. Would definitely rent from him again.

BEWARE!! The absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. I reserved a boat for the week and was never told we would have to put a deposit down at the time of reservation. I could probably take this on the chin for not asking but they charged me $900 a month before we were planning to be there. When I called to inquire the charge and stated I was never told there would be a deposit let alone a $900 one, the response I got from Barbara was Well what do you expect? What is it you want me to do here? I dont understand what you are trying to say, everyone has to pay a deposit, you should know that. I couldnt believe my ears. She was extremely defensive, rude and mean. When I asked her to cancel the reservation due to her terrible customer service, she said she very aggressively Id be glad to and then hung up on me! I tried to call back and she wouldnt answer the phone. I cant believe they are running a business this way. I will be taking mine elsewhere and you should too. To add, I would give them zero stars but wasnt given that choice.

I love this company. Had a blast on the 20 Angler for 5 days! Barbara was awesome. Matt was super helpful and awesome. From someone who has rented many boats in the past these guys are very easy to rent from. I had zero problems with the boat and zero problems with the facilitation of receiving and returning boat. This weekend we rented a 20 ft Angler boat from Fish n Fun. We had a great experience from the beginning thanks to Captain Rey. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us. He gave us great tips and was very thorough with his explanation. Will definitely be coming back and renting from them again!

Friends we were with this trip rented a boat from Ray and Matt and we were all very happy with the boat and service! Although my buddy has extensive boating experience, this was his first time to the Keys and he was apprehensive about renting a boat due to not knowing the waters.His concerns were put to rest after talking in depth with Ray. He explained everything is great detail about the GPS the charts, navigating etc…we had a wonderful week cruising, fishing and sight seeing!All of us highly recommend Fish N Fun Boat Rentals! We had a awesome day on the water. Matt set is up with fishing rods and bait, gave us a few spots to try, all was great. We also stopped on a sand bar for a few hours too. I would not recommend renting from these folks. When I called and inquired about a boat Barbara gave me rates and said my dates were open. She asked for a credit card to hold it and would send me a confirmation by email. Later that day she called back to let me know they need to move my dates back a day so they could accommodate another renter. I said o.k. At this point she hasnt mentioned anything about a deposit. Within an hour I was notified that my card had been charged $700. But I just assumed it was a deposit and would soon see an rental agreement and or confirmation. Called several days follwing asking for the agreement. Each time there was a new excuse. So I gave it another week and still nothing. I called Barbara about a week later and three and a half months before my scheduled rental to cancel. She told me there was a 5% cancellation fee. I asked how she could justify that when we have had no discussion or contract to that effect and she simply refused to credit me my $700. Contacted Am Ex and they reversed the charges and opened and investigation. In the end Am Ex said I was due the full amount and charged it back against Fish N Fun Boat.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACEWorse experience I ever had renting a boat. The boat was a total POS and nothing like the pictures showed. Engine would stall every time you went to idle. Rudest CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever seen. Came out hollering because we had bought non ethanol somewhere else and apparently you HAVE to buy it from them (maybe they should have explained that), said we didnt know how to tie up a boat (which he re-tied and it looked like Mickey Mouse did it), wanted to charge because the Diver Down flag got lost (it was already destroyed and wouldnt have made it out another rental). RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE and save yourself the aggravation.

We had a great renatl day. The folks there were very detail oriented, helpful, patient and nice. It was our first time boating in open ocean water and was very memorable. The boat was a great size, clean and easy to operate. The best was they were only a phonecall away should we need anything. Highly recommend boat rentals here for mid keys vacationing.

CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!!!Prior review by this guy is a lie. What happened is a lengthy discussion to reserve a boat and this guy was told fully what his obligations were;...50% deposit to hold the boat, balance due at time of delivery etc...he gave me his credit card to secure the reservation. He did not get an email confirmation due to computer issues so that was his issue. We spoke twice about it and I told him he was confirmed and would send his email when I could get our system working. Our website clearly states our refund policy and this guy found us on our website so he was fully aware. Making stuff up to CYA to American Express. He was fully refunded and American Express never opened an investigation or did a chargeback.He is on the DO NOT RENT TO LIST!!!

Called last minute and was able to rent last boat, Ray was thorough and doesnt miss a beat going over boat, areas to fish, snorkel, as well as areas to avoid. Boat ran flawlessly and we had a fantastic day.

We rented two boats for the week of July 4th. Neither of the boats we rented were what was shown on the website and were in extremely poor condition. For example, the 24 ft boat we rented was supposed to be able to take up to 12 people, but was so underpowered that we could not get up on plane with just 4 people in the boat. Nothing worked on the boat - the horn was broken, the navigation lights didn’t work, trim tabs were broken, gas gauge broken, and it was constantly taking on water. We asked for a different boat or a refund and were told no. Upon delivery, you are given a long list of things you cannot do that we were not told when we reserved the boat. In my opinion, this is a shady place to rent a boat and we did not get what we paid for. We were really shocked they can even rent these boats out in the shape they were in. The Coast Guard should look into this company and hold them accountable for getting their boats safe to rent out. Also, we made reservations months in advance, but yet their delivery to us on our first day was not until almost noon, and they charged us the full day. Then they asked to pick it up early on our last day. I would not recommend renting here, especially with kids, as these boats are not safe.

Terrible customers service. Boat we reserved and paid for would not run, so they switched us to a smaller boat. We used the small boat to as not to ruin the whole day for the family. After multiple attempts they would not refund the difference price of the boats. They have Garmin GPS on the boats. These have no programming at all. It would be so easy for them to program into the Garmin the locations of different dive, snorkeling, fishing or any entertainment sites for easy navigation, but they dont do any of this. What is the sense of having these if you are not going to be able to use them for their purpose. I know now why they have cheaper prices, they are a cheaper no interest in your experience at all. Go somewhere else and have a better experience.

What a waste of time and money. Fish n Fun boat rentals does not have an ounce of customer service in them. Theyre boats are old and in really bad shape. The one they rented us, broke down at sea. Horrible experience especially with 3 small children. My family and I never felt safe on it. Dont go by their website photos, youll be extremely disappointed.

After reading all the reviews on Google, took a chance and reluctantly rented from Fish N Fun. Im very glad that I did. We had nothing but a great experience with the people, service and the product ( 21 foot Parker ). I feel that the bad reviews are more of a result of lack of boating and rental experience. We had nothing but a great experience and will definitely look for them on the next rental opportunity.

Booked a boat back in september, was evacuated due to storm. Have been waiting on refund ever since. Keep getting empty promises and the runaround. They have kept my money for a service that was never recieved. Ray claims a death in the family prohibits them from refunding my money. This death was not an issue 2 months ago when i asked for my refund. Ray relates that he handles a different side of the business (takes money at the actual business for boat rentals but still refuses my refund). Horrible business that wont be around much longer. Avoids answering my number and voicemail is full. Stay far, far away!Way better places to rent boats from in the keys. Do not rent here!Will update if they ever do the right thing*Update 12/12/17, still getting run around from Ray, I am grocery shopping and will call you back. Never calls back. Had to open a fraudulent charge case at my bank.

Charter a boat from these people at your own risk. After 40 years of renting boats in the Fl. Keys, this outfit is the most dishonest I have ever come upon. I had a boat rental with them 3 weeks in advance, deposit included, and the night before my rental, after driving over 500 miles, to Marathon, They called and told me they rented my boat to someone else because they could squeeze 3 more days out of them. Then when I told them I did not want an older/smaller boat from them, they kept my deposit, and I had to fight with them thru my bank, to get my refund! Run far, and run fast, if you ever come in contact with them, you have been forewarned!!!

Great communication. They needed to drop boat off early due to fathers day and were great with working with our schedule. Im a long time boater/sailor but had never been out in the keys before other than kayaks. They took plenty of time to help me understand the chart and gps. I found locations i wanted to visit using online forums then navigated there using the chartplotter. Very easy to use. We used the 20 footer with bimini. The bimini top is a must down here! I Definitely dont recommend renting a boat down here if you dont have years of boat use experience. The water can get shallow quick, many times Its not soft sand, its hard coral. I have nearly 30 years boating experience, live aboard a 26ft sailboat nearly every weekend during the summer and i was intimidated by the area at first. If youre green to boating trying to follow narrow channels that are poorly makred, docking at crowded sea walls in wind, dodging manatee in the canal, watching for sand bars that move during storms, or getting stuck on the sand bar at low tide are not great ways to spend your vacation if you make a mistake. They offer guided services, if youre new to boating have them take you to a few spots that interest you or have them recomend spots to take you based on your personal preferences. (I.E. a great fishing spot is probably not a good swimming spot as the fish can be bigger than you!) If you feel confident then head out solo. Take your time, if you plan a 30 min ride time give yourself an hour long window. Its the keys why rush? The huge displacement hull power boats do not care if youre anchored and fishing, their wake is not fun taking on the nose, even less from the side or stern.

I recently worked for ray, this man is a crook. He Tricked me into quiting my job to work for him during mini lobster season. He put me and my wife in a apartment. Now that he got all his boats out thanks to me. He fires me and tells me to get out of the apartment immediately. When i ask why i was fired he cant give me a direct answer. You dont do people like this. God dont like ugly

Went out with a buddy and had a blast on the 21 parker. The guys were knowledgable and gave us a few tips to make sure we came back with a cooler full of fish! Well be coming back and renting here again for sure!

We are so happy we found Fish n Fun! Matt and Ray were incredible. My family (two adults, three young kids) rented a platform boat from them. Ray took his time going everything from the local boating rules to the equipment on board and wanted to make sure we were well equipped to handle the day on the ocean. Since I had only boated on lakes before, I really appreciated how thorough and professional Ray was.The boat was well-equipped with a cooler, bimini top (perfect for a hot day!), emergency equipment, radio, and a nice moving map Garmin map with depth gauge. The moving map was definitely our friend since is shows the depth in each sector.We boated out and anchored a half-mile or so out off of Sombrero beach. Enjoyed our time swimming and even saw some fish. Next we boated over to the bay side (went under 7 mile bridge) and ate lunch at The Island Fish Co.Finally, headed back, fueled up at Duck Key marina, and returned the boat. Matt checked us back in and was cool to work with. We would definitely recommend them and rent from them again.
