I had severe tooth pain from a rotted out tooth in August. I came in as a early morning walk-in. I was seen same day and he extracted my tooth. I went home with what seemed like normal pain and normal side effects. But then I noticed the left side of my face was dropped, my mouth still had no function and my eye was really swollen and dry and tearing up a lot.. I had been going on 3days of this so I was becoming really concerned. My left side of my face didnt look the same anymore and I was starting to freak out! Went in for a walk-in again to explain what was going on.. the same dentist saw me again for like 5mins and gave me 3pills and told me to take them. No prescription, just some pills in a bag. I took them over the next day and half and they did nothing. I was concerned still so my sister took me back and they prescribed a antibiotic, which again didnt help and made me sick.. My face eventually went back to normal on its own over the last 3weeks.. but now I have severe constant pain, a swollen left cheek and cant open my mouth fully. I would never go here again.. Worst experience ever!

I am new to this dental clinic, and it was a fabulous experience. I had a root canal that was absolutely pain-free and expertly done by my doctor. Everybody there treated me really really well and with a lot of kindness as I have a lot of anxiety. So happy I found this place.

Went there for a $80 visit (uninsured) because my teeth hurt and they basically told me I had two cavities but wouldnt specify which teeth and would not go into any further detail because it was a limited exam or something. The dentist was pretty cold and had a rude attitude. I sensed little care about my teeth or overall health and it seemed like they were not interested in helping me at all. The techs were ok though but basically a waste of $80 in my opinion.

I was in great pain as a result of my oversensitive teeth when I came in to their clinic at maplewood as a walk-in patient, and all the staff starting from the scheduler, the kind hygienist, and dental specialist made sure that my condition be treated as an emergency and immediately did a root canal to ease my pain. Im just greateful that they convinced me to do the operation right away to end my pain. went home swollen because of the emergency root canal but feeling a lot better. i am now able to eat a lot better. very thankful to all the staff.. kudos everyone...

I fractured one of my teeth and quite frankly, my body can’t fight off another infection after my immune system was destroyed by a spinal infection. My regular dentist couldn’t get me in for a couple weeks and if I waited that long…it would be too late. My friend suggested I call Community Dental because they take MA, blue cross blue shield, and they’ve been very good for my friends kids. Because of Covid, no other dentists were allowing walk ins, but community dental told me to come in the next morning and that id have to wait for the doc to be free, but I’d for sure get treated that day. I was prepared to wait hours in the waiting room, but after about 10 minutes they were able to get me back. I have PTSD because of a lot of medical trauma. The dentist asked me right away what she could do to help, that really meant a lot to me. Dentists in the past have not cared about how comfortable I am or if I’m feeling pain even after the initial novocaine. They gave me honest feedback about my teeth and pulled the fractured one. I’ve had teeth pulled before and this was by far the easiest and least painful experience. The only thing I could say for constructive criticism is that their front desk workers were not very welcoming. At least that’s the truth for the one i dealt with most. She said maybe two words to me and didn’t respond to any of my questions. As someone that’s permanently disabled, I try not to judge. Some people have disabilities we can’t see, or she could have just been having a terrible morning. Either way, that didn’t make or break the experience. Overall, im very pleased and especially grateful.

Took my son here for what I presumed was an abscessed tooth. The L.D.A. was so nice and great with him! Dr. Fish was very thoughtful, explained everything that could have caused the abscess, and what to do in the future to prevent further infections. Instead of having my son come back at a later date, they were able to perform the extraction on the spot; which I truly appreciated! Thank you so much!

Oh where do I start. How about with, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. If you make an appointment be prepared to wait four months to be seen. I did this, and they told me my insurance wasnt okay. I called my insurance and they said it was just fine. I relayed this to them and they said theyd run it again and call me when ready. I waited for an hour, asked them what the holdup was and they still tried to tell me my insurance wasnt okay. I offered to call them for her and she told me we should reschedule. And then told me that the next appointment wouldnt be for ANOTHER THREE MONTHS. These people do not care about their customers, and they treat people poorly. I went to this clinic to figure out what went wrong with my two teeth in the lower jaw. After waiting for a little longer than normal time, a doctor came and saw my teeth and said they both have cavities. I asked him to remove the one which was giving pain at the time. He said he cant do it today and told me to come after two weeks. I was in a bad pain and he was telling me to come in two weeks! That is cruel and irresponsible. These people are there to collect money, not to treat people. The same doctor suggested that I have to consider the removal of two other teeth which were fine at the time of my visit. I wish I didnt go there at all. I saw people who are unwilling to help. That is unprofessional!

I woke up yesterday morning with a swollen toothache that was making me miserable all day. Took some Aleve which took away the pain but then I notice my tooth had shifted to one side which wasn’t good because it caused me to have issues with talking and chewing. So I decided that I’ll take a long shot and call Community Dental Maplewood and see if they are able to squeeze me in which by that time it was 5:00 pm. The receptionist I spoke was very understanding and very nice, I was put on hold for a few minutes in return I was booked right away and went in as soon as possible. Wait time wasn’t long the usual signing documents and provide insurance. Once name was called to go in, my nurse was super awesome and thorough with her information on healing and procedures. This was my first extraction and it was very smooth and pleasant experience. Wasn’t like a horror freak show or anything. Numbing wasn’t painful at all, didn’t even realize I was getting numb, thought the doctor was just poking around my gums. I had two teeth that needed to be pulled, wisdom and my moler but that took only seconds and quick, did not feel a thing! Very grateful because even though the healing is going to suck at least they helped me by taking the throbbing pain away for good. I highly recommend them for emergency extractions but most case scenarios may differ really depending on the situations but I was very pleased to be taken care right away. I wish I got the names down for my nurse and doctor. And I wished I can have them all the time when I go in to visit because even when I had no clue what to expect my nurse guided me through all the way with what to expect from the extractions to answering my questions. I honestly got to admit I wanted to really passed on this one and just dose up on otc meds and just pray the pain goes away but I was very happy that I chose to go in to get it pulled out. So thank you to the people there that helped me expedite my situation and really made me feel comfortable for first timer. And to the nurse that really helped me out last night you’re a real angel and I hope you stay that way, you can really brighten people up since coming to the dentist is usually really a frightful thought for me.

You cannot understand what theyre saying. This is very scary to a child. They are not children friendly at all and have no people skills whatsoever. Makes you question how much dental school cost? I assure you the dentists there at Metro go to the SAME schools as Community. This place a second molar costs around a grand - that my friends is called - value! Costs about the same as the U dental school w/o the WAIT and done by graduated dentists!Do it - you wont regret it!! They probably have more clients than they need but that mindless review ticked me off. These folks are doing a valuable SERVICE for our state! It isnt all about the $$$ like the others (i.e.Metro), oh and they were OPEN for emergencies during the covid crisis. Your big $$ clinics referred you to MEDICAL emergency rooms!! It is LAW that a dentist must pull a tooth, not a GP. Of course you can pull your own at your own peril, but keep that in mind when going to a hospital ER. I think only one staffs a dentist..

Its hard to give them 1 star after another experience with this place. Reminds me of why I left this clinic before. I thought I would give them another try. After waiting like 6 months for my appointment for a cleaning I show up and get called into their financial office before I go back for my appointment. I get informed that since I had x-rays in January at a different clinic that I would have to pay for them prior to my visit. I never had to pay before with my insurance. Not to mention my drive of over 30 miles not to be seen. They must have known I would have owed prior to my appointment they obviously looked into. Maybe informed me that I should get my x-rays prior to appointment. I wasnt impressed when I went there before but thought they might have improved. Wrong. I call after I leave to speak with a manager and the person who answered the asked who I was, what I was calling about and once I explained I was asked to hold while they find a manager to help me. I wait on hold for over 10 mins and a recording comes on asking me to leave a message. I wasnt informed they were not available to speak to me. So I left a message and now I am waiting for a call back. I will be contacting my insurance company as well. Will never go back. I have never left a review before but customer service is very important. I did get a call back and was informed it was their error and I could be put on their cancellation list they are booking out to February

Not to mention that they didnt even warn me what they had cut and stabbed. Nor did they apologize. Great front desk etiquette. Some good experiences with certain dentists. Most of the dentists seem young, I would question the amount of years they have been working as a dentist, not years of studies! My sons filling has fallen out of place twice within less than 3 months. Lots of factors, but it was done by same dentist. On another note, some dentists seem to not know how to deal with patients who have anxiety as one of my daughters get real anxious when going to the dentist and the job just never gets done because shes too anxious. I never had any issues with the dentists I used to see down in Oklahoma with any of my children or myself. I also believe they need to review some of their late, no show policies. Given that if a client schedules for an appointment less than 24 hours from time they schedule, and misses it for a good reason, they shouldnt get penalize (counted) for it. However, for the non reasonable excuses, I understand itd be fair to count it.One thing I also dont think is professional about it is when Im getting my teeth done, fix..and the two people who are supposedly taking care of me talks about how their love lives are and forgets to do a service that we initially planned on doing for me..yes, that is what Id call unprofessional. Thats not excellent client care.

I have the worst experience here with them working with my child, very unprofessional, rude and impatient with children. Saying he was not cooperating and we were late (we were no more than 3 min late. I felt that that was rude to said to me and my child and the doctor was making an excuse) and it would be a longer procedure if they did the fillings, so it would be best if I schedule another appointment. When they do see that my sons teeth are really bad and needs that filling!!! I dont have time to wait for another appointment, I needed it to be done at that time!!! I am super angry and disappointed!!! This clinic is one of the worsts Dental clinics Ive ever been to. They over charged me for my fillings by $60 and didnt feel the need to tell me for an entire year. I made an appointment for another filling. When i got there sat down and said how much will this cost. I asked about the money i was called about the month prior. Shouldnt that go towards my new filing. the lady had no idea what i was talking about she then told me she didnt know why i was there I had no record of fillings for five years prior. I explained to the lady that they called me to set up this appointment. After realizing that this whole thing seemed to be scam to get my money i demanded that they give me my money they have had it far to long and i wasnt going into see a dentist that didnt seem to know. why i was there. they wanted me to wait 2 more weeks for my money in the mail. i said that money should have been sent to me two weeks after insurance came back. all while waiting for them to find away to cut me a check right then and there the staff talked about how they were family oriented business trying to save low income families some money. I explained how at many points in the year prior I could have really used that $60. like when my child needed formula or diapers. so if you were really about low income families you would give them there money back when they overpaid or at the very least notify them that its there and ask if you would like the money back or if you want to put it towards your next dental procedure. He apologized and said were short staffed and i replied for an entire year. right I dont believe it. So this was a year ago now and i just finally went to another dentist. the cavity that i was supposed to have filled that day at community dental is not a cavity its just a little divot in my tooth. so they had intended to charge me more money to have a filing i didnt even need. If you are going here and it doesnt seem right what there telling you. if you can i would get a second opinion.

I explained that if deemed their fault I didnt want my insurance company to pay for exam or new fillings. She insisted they would be billed. I explained that we all pay for our insurance one way or another and if improperly placed fillings come loose why should we (out of pocket or insurance) pay for new fillings or the exam to determine cause? I honestly will never go back there. It was my daughters first ever dentist appointment and it was tramatizing for her. Maybe its just better for kids not to go there.

I dont know where to begin... I literally dislike this place. Will never ever take my kids back. Rude doctors! Staff are great but Doctors are just plain rude. They couldnt do a thing for my kids and all they did was recommend us to a doctor who doesnt take Medical Assistance..... So got ourselves a BIG bill for just 2 teeth....

I would give zero Stars if I could. Ive gone there a few times and they are always screwing up. They do half-ass work, customer service stinks. Maplewood location is not pedestrian-friendly for those who do not drive, especially in the winter. You rarely ever get to see the same dentist when you return. I have called to complain a few times and nobody ever gets back to me. I would not recommend Community Dental at any of their locations.

Took my 5 year old son here due to an emergency. His bottom tooth was bleeding and I could not stop the bleeding. They did not help us because for some reason dr topley put a nasty note into my little one’s account and asked staff and other doctors not to help our family under any circumstance! Woow... needless to say I am still in shock...

I made an appointment for the 2nd of December way back in October because that was the soonest they could get me in. I make my way all the way to Maplewood, which is roughly 45 minutes away from me, and walk into a Christmas party. After arriving I was informed that they cancelled all appointments after 2pm to have this Christmas party, and cancelled my 3pm appointment without notifying me. So Im incredibly disappointed in the unprofessional nature of the scheduling staff for cancelling my appointment without notifying me. I also dont understand what kind of place holds any type of party during normal business hours. Unfortunately for me this is the only place that will take my insurance, so I dont have much selection in which dentist I go to. If I did I wouldnt make another appointment with them. They said theyll call me on Monday to reschedule my appointment, which Im incredibly unhappy to hear since I had to wait 2 months for this appointment, so I can only imagine how long Ill have to wait to get another one. My first and only experience with this place has been incredibly negative, but I hope they make this right.

I went to Community Dental in St Paul (2014)...after I told Dr Vang that she could not use the 2 upper teeth as abutment teeth (teeth used to hook the partial on) she referred me to the Us Dental Clinic. Even they ignored my comment that #15 hurt when Vang put the upper partial in/out to adjust it. Eventually I ended up at the Maplewood clinic with Dr John Schulte (retired from U with 42 yrs of experience-helping out seasonally, and part-time). He was still going to use the same 2 teeth. Before I returned for 3rd set of impressions, I reached in my mouth and wiggled #15. That hurt!! And finally that unworkable plan came to a stop!!! Because the other abutment tooth was a 20 year old implant-and I had started to feel vague pain up in my jaw, and NO one at Community Dental knew how to remove an implant.......I was discharged. (They could have referred me out as Dr Vang had once done for a root canal- but hey-Community Dental cut their losses. I live on just Social security-Disabled since 2004. The money I then had came from my car being totaled, Its now January 2019 and I still have No denture or partial, because I dont have the money.I had consulted with 5 different Lawyers. No one would take my case. The last Lawyer told me that to pursue a Dental Malpractice claim was both time consuming and expensive, hard to prove because their standard of care was so low.I sued Dr Varachee Peterson, CEO of Community Dental-the person who discharged me-for BREACH OF CONTRACT. Community Dental took all my money and I did not get any wearable teeth. Now the fun began....Community Dentals Lawyer is there and says Its MALPRACTICE! And to prove Malpractice I would have to have a different dentist provide a signed Affidavit saying that Community Dental had committed malpractice. And well, that was not going to happen. This has all been approved by the Minnesota State Legislature. NO ONE CAN SUCCESSFULLY SUE A MN DENTIST!!!!!!! MA Dentists work for the State and THEY PRACTICE WITH IMPUNITY!!!!!!!!!In the Maplewood Clinic, where Dr Varachee works, there is a huge sign with her history. She came from Thailand and had originally wanted to be a Missionary, but became a dentist instead. I was actually touched the first time I read that, but now I think she would not have become as wealthy and as socially and politically connected as she currently is if shed become a Missionary...but as a Missionary, she may have caused less damage and hardship to people who turn to MA dentists for help. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!

Overall best dental experience I have ever had. I am a low income student and was accepted into the 40% off group. The bonding on my permanent retained came off the night before and I called at 8 am and got right in the same day at 1 pm. It only cost $37 and the appt only took about 20 mins. Rachael the billing specialist was very nice and informative and the dentist was the nicest person I have ever met. Overall great experience.

Horrible customer service!! It took 15 minutes just for someone to just pick up the phone lines. When i asked to speak to a financial/billing person for my refund they hesitated and tried to answer my questions without any knowledge of my situation. I was first told my refund was sent out, then was told that the person in charge pang was out on vacation and then when I called back was put on hold for over 1 hour!! Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service... better of going to a private dentist!!

Ive been patient in this clinic while studying at the U of MN. Working staff is very nice, but everything else is just bad.Outdated equipment, policies, and greedy builing system. Recently I signed a waiver to transfer my records to my current dental clinic near my house and Boyton dental clinic asked a fee of $6 for bitewing and $15 for panoramic x-rays. These are digital x-rays that they email to a different clinic and cost absolutely nothing. No other clinic charge those fees. Its patients right to take their records and old x-rays to a new clinic for better evaluation (dental history). This is nothing but bullying practice by the clinic to get more money from patience (former students). I would not recommend Boyton Dental Clinic, there are much better, honest clinics in Twin Cities.

Dr. Ashu Malhotra threw up her hands and refused to complete the procedure when my girlfriend winced in pain. This is after breaking her tooth in half. No explanation was given and there was no medical reason for this. The doctor was crabby and left my girlfriend in pain. No words were exchanged. This was willful misconduct leading to prolonged discomfort. I will never allow anyone I care about anywhere near this clinicI need to ad, after the initial debacle she was seen by a dr. Schaefer and he was a consummate professional.

Waited for over TWO HOURS for them to tell me that my insurance was not accepted there (which it is, and was confirmed by the carrier) only to be told that the insurance company was closed for the day (it was not) and that my cleaning would cost $261.00 out of pocket. After over 125 minutes, I left without any service.

On 9-2-15, (12ysold) and (9 yrsold) went for their first visit to the dentist. Myself and the 9yr old had been called in first while the 12yr old and my mother were called after us.The hygienist took xrays of the boys.(We have not been shown xrays yet) After the teeth cleaning, DR. PERKINS came and talked with me about the 9yr old having 5 cavities. She stated that she can get them all filled today. By this time, my mother and the 12yr old was already getting his teeth cleaned and he has 3 cavities also. I want to mentioned that while I myself have been to the dentist before, NEVER ONCE DID THE DR. PERKINS showed us the x rays of the boys teeth and take her time to explain to us about the results. WE are just going by what she tells us. Dr. PERKINS did not seemed friendly at all.She just informed us that they needed cavities filled. My mother agreed to get both the boys their teeth filled that day. Luckily, the boys were just right across the hall from each other, so I can see my mother in the other room with the12yr old . Before getting their teeth filled, my mother asked Dr Perkins if it was necessary for the 9yr old to get all his 5 cavities filled, since one of his tooth was just wiggly baby tooth that will come out eventually. Dr Perkins convinced that they needed to come out. DR PERKINS started on the 12 yr old first. I WANT TO STRESS THAT I HAD ASKED DR PERKINS IF SHE WILL BE USING ANY ANESTHETIC ON THE BOYS AND SHE ASSURED ME THAT THE CAVITIES WERE NOT DEEP AT ALL AND THEY SHOULDNT FEEL A THING. HER OWN WORDS WERE THEY WILL NOT HURT. She assured the boys to raised their hands if they feel any pain. The boys raised their hands about 5 times to tell her that they were in pain. She continued just to tell them that it shouldnt hurt. Its apparent that the boys were in a lot of pain. She was negligence towards their concerns. Shell just stop and say Well, lets continue to the next teeth if this one hurts instead of figuring out whats causing it. DR PERKINS WAS VERY VERY RUDE. If you hate your job, then why do it. If youre not good with kids, then why would the dental even let you work on kids? The dental place should know DR PERKINS and not even allow her to work with kids. These kids have been traumatized from this one experience. Im so disappointed in the way we were treated. The assistant and DR PERKINS WERE TALKING AMONG THEMSELVES ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY HATE SOMETHING SOMETHING. Very unprofessional. This business needs to be shut down. Dr PERKINS used the gag on the boys and I could tell she was just an angry person. She purposely cranked the gag mouth piece higher than Ive ever seen and the kids mouth was sore for a week. I have been emotionally distressed by this. The day this happened, I called the and talked with the manager Vong and expressed my concerns to him. He pretended to be sympathetic and explained to me that sometimes they dont use anesthetic on the boys because it if the cavities were just on the surface, then it shouldnt hurt them, BUT I ASSURED HIM THAT IT DID HURT THE BOYS AND THEY RAISED THEIR HAND CONSTANTLY WHEN IT HURT. She will continually tell them that Oh, it shouldnt hurt or Oh, well, then lets move on to the next teeth, Or Ok, ok, ok, ok, next one!. I am pretty pissed at how we were treated. After talking to the manager VONG, he assured me that he will talk to DR PERKINS and ask her side of the story, ask why she decided not to use anesthetic on the boys and hell look at the xrays over with her and call me back shortly. I WANT TO STRESS THAT THAT WAS ALSO A LIE. VONG HAD NEVER CALLED BACK FOR A FOLLOW UP NOR DID HE CARE ABOUT HIS PATIENT. THIS BUSINESS NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. IF YOU CARE ABOUT MONEY BUT NOT THE PATIENT, THEN WHY HAVE A BUSINESS THAT CLAIMS YOU CARE ABOUT LOW INCOME FAMILY. It has been 1 month and half and never a called. IF HE REALLY HAVE FORGOTTEN THEN IT JUST COMES TO SHOW HOW MUCH THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENT.I must add that while we were checking in and stuff, the receptionist was gossiping to the interpreter about their PATIENT!
