AVOID! I’ve had 5 scheduled appointments with this man in the past. 2 of which he made me wait 20 minutes because he took walk-in clients minutes before my scheduled appointment. Most recently I took an appointment time he had suggested, I waited 20 minutes and called him twice to no answer. The studio was locked up. JT does not respect his clients and he will ghost you without explanation. Take your business to Regent Cuts Barbershop. I’ve been getting high skin fades from José for about 2 years now. Appointments start on time, every time. He offers a great fade at a solid price. DO NOT waste your time with JT Barbers.

Decent cut, could have got the same thing at cost cutters honestly. The price was unknown until end. 50$ for a basic 20 min cut. Over priced for sure. Jt was a nice personable guy. However, his studio was unkept and didnt have towels... I wouldnt have been upset if I was aware of pricing from beginning but also would not have gone here. Value definitely not there. Will not return.

I’ve known JT since before he opened his own place about 3 years now, and a few of my friends as well. We’re really glad he has his own shop finally.. we’ve all seen him work hard to earn it. Always a genuine guy, always good positive energy, very clean and super detailed. Excellent haircutting skill, the best fades we’ve had and seen in Madison. He comes highly recommended. 5 star quality and professionalism.

Very unprofessional! Called me for a 4:30 pm appointment. I reached at 4:25 pm and they had locked up the place and gone. I hope they had good reasons to disrespect customer’s time and effort.

Ive been going to Jay for 3 years now and hes given me a high quality haircut every single time. Hes extremely attentive to detail and gives the best fade in Madison. Jay is a great guy to talk to and he always makes sure Im happy with the cut at the end. Id recommend Jay to anyone looking for an excellent haircut and a great barbershop experience.

JT is both professional and a comfortable conversationalist if youre up for a chat. He gives me a great haircut, and is eager to please. Cant ask for more than that!

From out of town. Found this place because my fiance was getting hers done at butler street hair designs. JT took me in eventhough he was done for the day. Awesome job on the fade and just all around great personality. Must go. Will definitely stop by again when I make my way back to Madison

Spoke to the owner and scheduled an appointment today for my fiance at 430. We show up and no one was in the room. We figure hes just running late so we call him and no answer. We waited a full 25 minutes to see if he would show up. We gave him a few more rings and texted and heard nothing back.

EDIT: Went back for the second time recently. Something might have been off, since this experience was totally different. JT didnt seem very focused and didnt really give me what I had asked for. I am significantly less happy with this cut. For the price I would expect consistency. So Im updating my review to 3 stars.Original Review: No question about it, the haircut I got from JT is unequivocally the best cut Ive gotten. He listened to me and gave me exactly what I had asked for, as well as took the time to nail even the minor details in an artistic way. I named a celebrity I wanted to look like, and he managed to channel exactly the look I was going for. This barber is an expert who obviously cares about his craft. Highly recommend.

JT has a small one man studio. He is keeping it meticulously sanitized during this pandemic which is reassuring. He gave me a great haircut, just what I asked for and based on a photo. Support the small business owner and go here!

Been around a lot of shops in Madison and usually frequent the ones downtown in my area. JT is the best I’ve seen yet.. might even be the best in the city. Great job buddy, keep up the good work and see you soon!

I had a wedding to attend with a few friends and we all needed haircuts the day before. We called JT and was able to get in even though he already had a pretty tight schedule. He got all four of us done, making time for each of us in between appointments he already had filled. What an awesome gesture, and genuine upbeat positive energy. Our haircuts were finished very nicely and in style. Nice clean shop, cool music and one of the best barbers I’ve met in town.

I was in need of a haircut, and needed something nearby, called and scheduled an appointment within a half hour. For the price and ratings I reviewed, I expected to have more than just clippers being used, and while the fade looks decent, it wasnt quite as skin tight as I had hoped for.

Decent cut but over priced

Best fades in Madison, great work takes time so be forewarned you might be waiting a little longer than expected but its worth it. If you want to avoid the feeling of yeah that haircut was alright but not quite what I wanted then go here. Bring pictures along as references, hes on point.

Been following JT for 2 years now. I refuse to go to anyone else. As a military man its hard to find a good, let alone a great barber. JT is one of the greats. Not only because of preference but hes a true professional who continues to look to perfect his craft. He isnt just a barber. Hes a Stylist! Keep up the great work and artistry.

JT is the man, he got me in on his day off. On top of that he gave me the best beard trim and style. The atmosphere is great and as you would expect for a guy who is passionate about his craft. No question about it I think I found my barber!

It sucks to post a first negative review, but the situation unfortunately truly warranted it.I just moved to Madison and J The barber was one of the few 5 star barbers I was able to find.I called Sunday and he scheduled me for 1:30pm the next day. I got there and the shop was closed. Then another guy came, and we waited for him an hour. He never came. So I figured it must have been an emergency and gave him the benefit of the doubt for wasting my time.After a unanswered couple calls, he texts me later in the day asking if I’d like to schedule an appointment. So again, I give him the benefit of the doubt thinking he just doesn’t have a way to tie phone numbers to customers and schedule the next day for 5:30.I get there, his last appointment ends at 5:45 (again, no prob for me, a quality cut takes a while right?) and he’s super nice and we’re chatting small talk. Still no apology for wasting over an hour of my afternoon, but even that’s forgivable.Here’s where the coin flips dramatically. I describe to him what I want, saying not to merge the top of my hair into the sides and that I don’t want a fade. So he clippers everything and when he’s done, I don’t see a clear difference from the top of my hair and the sides. So I say maybe it’d be nice to try a fade.And now he gets passive aggressive (?). “You told me you didn’t want a fade. You know it’s time for me to go home and I don’t want to be here another 30 mins giving you a fade. But do you want one?” -Why would I want your services with that kind of attitude?? So I say “no” and he asks why I’m saying no, further awkwarding the situation.At that point I’m just ready for the service to be over and it comes time to pay. I give him my cash and he says “here’s the money back with the $5 tip you gave me”. As if to teach me that I’m required to tip him.I let him have his self-demanded tip. But in exchange for that sort of extreme rudeness, I wrote my review.

I called and was accommodated politely and quickly. I arrived at the shop and Jay was very professional and easy going. Clean, organized, and really listened as I explained what I wanted. An exceptional barber experience.. and a very good haircut. I rebooked, definitely will be returning regularly.
