Trying to find a salon or shop that does ethnic hair is far and few between so finding her was a blessing in disguise… trust me I was worried at first but she knows her stuff… very very knowledgeable and so kind and friendly! Went for dreadlock maintenance. Robert was very knowledgeable in dreads. He did an amazing job on my dreads. He also worked fast. Felt like family from the moment I arrived. Also a plus not having to drive to Denver to get dread maintenance!!

I have been in Fort Collins for a year and had struggled to find someone to cut my short, thin, curly hair well, so that I wouldnt have to drive to the person I had been going to in Boulder for over 10 years. I feel so lucky to have found Arlene for my short, thin, curly hair! She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and discusses all the options with you. Not many folks are so at home with curls and her haircut prices are very reasonable.

Im of mixed ethnicities with long curly hair. Im pretty picky about who does my hair and living in Boulder County, I have had no luck finding someone with the skills and confidence to work with my mane. I read the reviews of Maxines and was willing to make the 45 minute drive to to see if Id really get 5 star service. The second I sat in Arlenes seat, it was obvious how much hair knowledge she had. Ive done plenty of my own research and experimentation going rogue for so long in Boulder, but she educated me on things I never even considered and she was very personable about it. My hair was beautiful after the deep condition and trim and I left with a new arsenal of knowledge to try at home. After 18 years of living in this area, I think Ive finally found a hair dresser :)

Arlene and Robert were amazing.. The whole experience was good. They did my new dreads and Im very happy with how they turned out.. Wont go any where else.

Robert worked yesterday on my 9 month old dreads that needed some TLC. He did re-tightening and worked out some of the bumps and they look amazing! Arlene helped out too and both of them are just lovely people who are great with all types of hair. Highly recommend!

I am brand new to the area and although I am loving Colorado, I am not loving the inability to find a great hair beautician. I looked up Arlene on line and immediately found Maxine;s Shears and Wigs and am very happy!!! She knew what to do to my African American Hair and I did not have to give any directions. This is definitley my new home for hair care!

An amazing experience. Arlene has a gift! No one has ever gotten my hair so straight with a blow dryer. My hair has so much bounce and body. She even guess my ethnicity by my hair. She is extremely knowledgeable about hair. There is a sign in the shop that says may all who enter as guest leave as friends. I think it should say leave as family. This was my first time with her but Ill be going back for years to come.

I used to live up here and get my dreads done by roberto, now i drive all the way up from Colorado Springs because hes the best!
