Rock Gem climbing gym is back open again. It offers a good variety of climbing routes and bouldering for all levels of ability. The staff is super friendly and is very attentive.

Great date night with my bride. Location was wonderful (entrance is second door on right down hallway). Chris our instructor was patient and knowledgeable. We had a blast and a great workout as well. Look forward to more climbing excursions.

Excellent place! The instructor was kind and helpful. The facility was very well maintained. Me my brother and father had an amazing time! If you are are a beginner or expert rock climber I am sure this place will have Some thing for you. 10/10 would recommend, we plan to return in the future.

Bouldered here for the first time today. Friendly and informed staff; it’s a small space, but they make good use of it with plenty of routes and a variety of difficulty. Staff said routes are changed weekly to twice a month. Dates on bouldering tape confirm that multiple problems were set within the last couple of weeks. Difficulty of routes is categorized generally in 4 groupings from beginner to expert.The owner, Lynette, introduced herself and gave me more info about the gym. To clarify someone’s previous criticism about her being “pushy,” I found her to be exceptionally interested, knowledgeable, and helpful. She engaged multiple climbers in conversation and offered advice, which some may misconstrue to be pushy, but it’s obvious she just wants to cultivate a community where climbers of all skill levels can enjoy the sport, each other’s company, and improve their climbing, which is just what I’m looking for in a gym atmosphere!Will be back soon!

My fiance and I visited Rock Gem after seeing and purchasing a Groupon online. Arriving Sunday around 3, we found it hard to find the entrance of the rock climbing facility. You walk into a hallway with no signage or explanation of where to go. Once we found the correct door, the owner was laying on the couch watching TV. This was a bit surprising but understood once we realized that we were her first customers that day.Following a brief introduction session we were led to the ropes area where were thoroughly trained on the safety procedures. After completing the training session which took 30 minutes with a multiple choice quiz, we finally got to climb on our own.The greatest issue we both had with this location was as we were climbing, we felt like we were being baby sat. We have visited three other gyms and none of them had this aura to them. They were more free to do what you wanted and enjoy your time with your friends.Additionally the greatest problem we noticed about this climbing gym was the scale used to rate the difficulty of each wall. It was inconsistent to put it politely. I frankly dont feel like any of the rock climbing gyms we have visited are very welcoming to new visitors or climbers and this one was no different. The Easy walls were few and when you went to one, you would find that the top got so challenging that you couldnt complete the run.I would not recommend this location to new climbers and I would hope that the training style and aura of the gym can be improved over time to make this a fun environment for all climbers not just seasoned pros.

I was down in Louisville and needed to get some wall time while away from the home gym. Lynnettes place more than filled that role. The space is cozy but the problems/routes are varied in length and difficulty. I also found this place to be one of the few in the area that also has rope pitches. Add in a very friendly smattering of regulars and Lynnette herself (determined to get to know me and make sure I had a good time) and I couldnt recommend Rock Gem enough.

Been climbing here for 20+ years. Great facility. Youth programs to teach little ones how to climb is a plus.

I love this climbing gym. The staff is amazing here. You wont find another climbing gym with staff this awesome. This is the best gym to climb at in or around Louisville if you are looking to improve on technique for climbing outdoors. The texture of the walls and difficulty of the foot holds force you to use good technique.

Five of us ages 14 to 55 climbed and we had a fantastic time!! The owner was polite, attentive, knowledgeable, perceptive, and more than willing to do anything to ensure we had a fun, safe, climbing adventure! I highly recommend it! Well be going back again and with additional climbers. Thanks for a great time!

Best place for rock climbing in Louisville. Friendly knowledgeable staff, new routes set weekly, and you cant beat the prices. I would advise everyone to check out The Gem!

This is the best place ever! I absolutely love the atmosphere here and everyone is so nice and friendly ! Not only the staff but also the other climbers. My all time favorite place!

This place is awesome! Staff are very friendly and this is a great place to go with kids as there are plenty of problems that are easy and doable for new climbers or children the mix of difficult and easy problems make it a very enjoyable experience.

If you’re used to larger gyms with more than a couple of walls and a vast selection of route difficulties, this place is not for you. Employees were nice, granting this one star.

Best place to rock climb in Louisville!

The climbing atmosphere is great and the rock gem offers quality boulding problems of varying difficulty. Id recommend to anyone looking to have a great time!

Very nice gym. Its a little small but has plenty of difficult bouldering problems. The staff here is amazing.
