A lot of broken down equipment. No dehumanization in group fitness room. Spin bikes are the old style. Cardio Theater has metal ceiling very bad listening.
Cant make a phone call reservation for the swimming pool ! Why? Its a new rule. Cant bring a guest to the swimming pool ! Why? Because its a new rule. Listen man, I used to call to make a reservation for me and a guest and I did, Im not a liar. Ok ! Check your archive or whatever. Well, if you changed the rules, then email your customers about it. theres a lot of places I can go swim okay ! What a horrible customers experience. Im happy I canceled the membership.
Nice place with lots of space, but they close their gym for basketball 2 hours before the rest of the place closes. WHY?? Huge downfall for those of us who play. Also, there arent many sanitizing stations around the place. Other than that, its a really nice gym with a pretty large locker room.
The gym is really nice. Everyone has been super helpful. Since Covid precautions are in place, they definitely have mask rules and all of the clients actively wear masks. The group classes have 8 or less people in a huge room, also requires wearing masks. The lockers are spread out very far. The equipment is great and there is a lot to do. Would definitely recommend!
Great facility. Excellent staff. Johnnie, a personal trainer there, is amazing!
It has been almost a year since this location has had water available for members while other competing gyms continue to offer it. Machines that are damaged take months to get back to operating condition. Missing barbell weights, very few cable attachments. Not friendly with guests unless it’s their first visit. I would consider looking elsewhere
Have terrible hours (ex close at 6pm Sunday), closed on every little holiday, and cut back their open hours frequently
Apparently I changed gyms and didn’t know it?! I wonder if there is any chance of fixing and replacing all the broken and junk equipment in here? Or maybe some way of getting water would be nice?
Do not join this gym. Stay as far away as possible. This is a shady company. Im disgusted with the way they have treated me. Outraged. This company drained over $1600 from my bank account over 3 years by continuing to charge me for personal training sessions after they were canceled. When I raised the problem, they acknowledged the clerical mistake on their side but refused to give a refund. Oh it gets better...I contacted an old friend of mine who used to work at LA Fitness. Here is his exact response (screenshot attached): Dude they did that to a lot of people. You are probably the 3-4th person thats told me they charged them after they canceled personal training. This is a pattern. It was not a one-off mistake. This is standard practice at LA Fitness. They literally designed the system to completely exploit their customers, hide overages, and then they try to force you to accept the charges afterwards. Even their customer support had been trained on how to rebuff (not resolve) this allegation. I have never been so exploited by a company in my life...like intentionally exploited, not by accident, but with conscious intent.
Good gym, good equipment. All you need really.
Been in a lot of different gyms in the Louisville area. This one is one of the worst. No working water fountain or refill station, even amidst COVID, other gyms still have water fill stations. Equipment is worn out and broken. Holes in the floor, not enough cable attachments for a gym this size, look like some of them have been used since the gym first opened. Staff is extremely unfriendly and has even complained to me for training my own wife while in the gym. Never have I had something like this happen at a gym or at all. I’m trying to think of one positive thing, but there’s simply nothing. Not even the pricing was in my favor. At the time of my sign up they told me they canceled the family plan memberships. So my wife and I had to both pay initiation fees and both pay the same month to month.
Great classes taught by Linda and Cindy.
Sometimes the basketball court is really crowded & many don’t even have memberships likely getting in on guest passes if that for a long time with ZERO intention to join.
I love my gym... some members refuse to clean and pick up after themselves but that has nothing to do with the facility and the staff. Wish they were open later on the weekends though!
I love this place. It has everything you could need in a gym. Basketball, swimming, sauna and steam room, free weights, machines, and plenty of cardio options. The staff is always extremely friendly and they even helped me get my membership straightened out with no issues. Theyre very knowledgeable and have great personal training staff as well.
They’ve done a great job and making sure patrons feel safe during COVID-19
It was straight Im going back again
Very friendly and very clean. Love the atmosphere
Staff are not friendly; the gym is huge, which is nice but does not boast enough equipment. There are only about five benches/ seats over by the free weights, and they are almost always filled. You could wait 30 minutes for an open bench. The layout is confusing. There is so much empty space in the gym. They should utilize the empty space to as more equipment. If you all the staff for help, they will quickly dismiss you and your comments.
This is a great place to work out. Its clean and not too crowded. Staff is courteous. The biggest beef I have with them is sometimes they have Fox News playing on the TV in the mens locker room. Big turn off!
Easy access and parking for semi trucks
Run down, no working water fountain, holes in the floor...Im assuming this location was hit hard by the covid lockdown ☹️ still had a great workout though.
Not enough benches for dumbbells nor squat machines. Holes in the floor abd staff does nothing Im not sure why they are even there
Facilities are okay. Cleanliness is not maintained. The cleaner dispensers are not refilled often causing a lot of them to be empty.
Literally the best gym in the city. No clue why it had such bad reviews.
One of the best LA Fitness I’ve ever been to. This gym is huge, very quiet at night time, and a beautiful spot
There are no water bottle filling stations you have to fill water in the sink of the bathrooms and they have a major shortage of cable attachments, bars, and plates. The condition is the worst Ive seen of any gym Ive been to in Louisville. Especially since you have to pay an annual maintenance fee when there are missing or broken clips on the cable machines. Surely they should be able to do replace clips, handles, and ropes based on their current condition.. The only things it has going for it is even when its crowded it is nothing like LAC and LA Fitness has the most convenient locations for me. Nonetheless they should take some notes from LAC. You dont have to fill your water bottle in a sink nor pay a fee for upkeep to have clips on all the cable machines and handles not falling apart.
This club is climbing the star ladder. They do this by upgrading the equipment and keeping it repaired. Keeping the restrooms clean and offering classes to fit about anybody who wants to exercise in any manner. One complaint though at the location I go to is the poor condition of the basketballs. I saw basketballs played on dirt playgrounds in better condition in the Philippines. In fairness, this is not normally the case and I am sure it will be rectified quickly. By the way, the prices for membership are reasonable for what you are offered. Aerobics room, basketball court, swimming, Etc. It is difficult to complain. Check it out.Jack
Pretty nice gym. But I am amazed how many people have came in to play ball without a membership for years. While others are playing $35+ a month
Clean gym, friendly staff.A little pricey compared to some other places but you get what you pay for. Been to many gyms around the Midwest (travel a lot for work and school), and this is definitely one of the better ones.Kurt made the on-boarding process painless!Very personable and did a good job understand what I needed and finding a membership solution that fit.NOTE: They are aggressive about following up but that’s all LA fitnesses (most all gyms actually) and not just this location.
Pretty large LA Fitness. Has a running track, basketball court, pool etc. (your typical LA fitness amenities)... The major downfall of this LA fitness (and I have been to many) is the very limited amount of plates available for barbell lifting, especially during peak hours. There are tons of machines, and just simply not enough plates to satisfy all the heavy lifting that goes on! But I am a fan of LA fitness, and I still recommend this gym!
A fairly decent place. This location luckily has most of the equipment that other locations did not. Most everything worked and the crowd was non judgmental which was nice. The only problem was that the pool was frequently being worked on along with the sauna.
Helpful, clean, modern equipment. Love the movie room and separate area for women.
Great facility with plenty of equipment so youre guaranteed to be able to use what you want to. Also love the personal training program. Have seen great results in even just the first 3 months.
I have been a member here for almost a year and continue to be dissatisfied. They are missing multiple free weight sizes. When I go to notify staff nothing is done about it. Multiple machines remain broken even after I provide equipment numbers and notify staff. I had less issues with cheaper gym memberships like planet fitness. I will not be renewing my membership.
Good size, on the dirty side. Weight plates are all over the place. Mix of older and new equipment.
Great facility for average persons workout. Love their cinema. 4 stars for saunas - not always warm enough in male section. My wife complained almost every day about female saunas low temperature. Not much was done to sort the problem though.
I literally will move to Louisville just to come workout at this location daily... This is the most fanciest, well equipped LA fitness Ive been in in a lifetime!!!!
By far the worst gym or customer service experience at any business Ive ever had and its not even close. The gym is nice, big, good equipment and enough equipment, but theres always something broken. Their prices arent great but acceptable. I live close so I was willing to pay an extra $5/month for convenience. I try to save money by signing up for 2 or 3 years, but you have to pay a lump sum the day you sign up. I dont have $1000+ of extra cash laying around to spend on a gym. I opted for the 2 years despite the $700+ lump sum price tag.Their hours are shorter than I wish Friday-Sunday. Generally theyll put signs up the day prior to when they plan to close early or not be open at all, but sometimes they dont. New Years Eve one year they put up no such signs on the door. I got to the gym at 530am ready to workout and the doors were locked. I thought maybe they were opening at 6am. There were 10-20 other cars waiting for someone to open it up. I went to their website, nothing. I found they had a very minimal app. After 10 minutes, in fine print it said theyre closed entirely on New Years Eve. I went around and told everyone in their cars. Nobody had any idea. Thanks for the notice LA Fitness. I notified their corporate offices about this and heard nothing. The most annoying thing of all, a full year prior to my membership expiring LA Fitness sales representatives from all over the nation would call me 1-4 times a day from different phone numbers. I told them if I was going to renew itd be at my local gym. They kept calling and more frequently. I asked to speak with their managers. They refused. I asked for their phone number and agreed to renew with them a month later if they quit calling. They kept calling. I spoke to people at my gym. They did nothing. I told them I decided that Im going to quit if they continue calling. They continued calling, the same sales people too. They called even a month or two after my membership expired.Even worse, my friend has had her car broken into or vandalized at least twice in the parking lot. They did nothing for her.I will never visit LA Fitness again. Theyre rude, they dont care about customers and they are the worst telemarketers ever. Not even their corporate offices care about you.Im now at Anytime Fitness. Its not perfect and has fewer machines, but they care about you and fix their equipment fast.I wouldnt go back to LA Fitness if they paid me. Id give them zero stars if I could.
Always clean. Staff good. Equipment keep in good working order. Large space. Never feel cramped. Best value in town.
The facility is very spacious and they have just about every type of workout equipment you could want, but there is always equipment broken, if you try to workout from 5:00 - 7:30pm the gym is always packed and certain areas of the weight lifting area are like 10 min waiting lines for specific equipment. The power has gone out multiple times while I was there and there was even an electrical fire one day and everyone had to leave the gym. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but there could definitely be more maintenance oriented employees for continuous upkeep of the building.
You got everything in one place, indoor track, volleyball, basketball court, very spacious, perfect to spend half day if you dont have anything to do at home like me. Expensive initial fee $100 but only 20 dollars monthly, not bad.(Hello only 20 dollars if you complain about bad service of staff, then pay a personal trainer)
Good gym lots of equipment. But not kept as clean as I would like. It is difficult to wipe down equipment with paper from dispensers. A bit musty inside.
I have never witnessed a more terribly run business in my entire life. Dont waste your time from sales reps all the way to corporate. Slimy back stabbers who write checks their asses cant cash. I was forced to resign my membership in the aftermath. I would give zero stars if I could
Great gym! Love the location and abundance of equipment. Steam room, sauna and pool are nice extras.
This place is becoming downright fraudulent. I have mailed them and I have personally asked 3-4 reps to cancel my personal training membership, but the bill keeps ticking every month, long after I moved away from KY. Im going to just have to take legal action.I would not recommend getting a membership here, and especially not signing up for personal training. This kind of behaviour makes me question their overall business ethics.
Love it !!!! Its organized and I can always find what I need.
They have a swimming pool, and a Zumba class. Cant wait to try these. Also, have an area strictly for women to work out. Love that!!!
I was a member of this location when it first opened years ago. I moved away and came back and rejoined. I was a little disappointed because all the original equipment remained. I left again because the odor was overwhelming. I considered rejoining after three years and revisited with a guest pass. I was disappointed to see all the original equipment from twelve years ago, the smell still lingers and it looked like their cleaning service had missed them the night before. As much as I love the location and the space; its still lacking in other areas.
Some of these reviwers are liars. The pool isnt always broken. Its never broken. Hes probably not a swimmer.Anyway, hours arent the best but they work. The people who attend this gym are very considerate. The mentality is very relaxed, as a gym should be. The staff is also pretty friendly. My only recommendation would be providing a different sanitation method for the equipment. Too many people avoid doing it.
Facility is good. Bad management! Moved out of state and wanted to cancel membership. Employees said that they dont cancel over the phone and that its company policy. However, someone sensible works at facility in Austin and was able to help with cancellation over the phone. DOUBLE STANDARDS!
Good atmosphere, pool and workout area. Generally kept pretty clean and maintained, but the crowd ranges from veteran gym goers to high school students
Best gym in Louisville, hands down. Basketball courts, heated pool, new equipment, plenty of space, friendly staff. For around $1 a day, definitely the best place to be.
Staff is always courteous and helpful. The gym is kept clean.
Great looking facility at first glance, you just have to know how things work. The pool swim lane pass is a good idea to limit overcrowding, but I didnt know it was necessary and had already checked in and rinsed off... kind of an awkward deal. If someone checks in with goggles in hand maybe just ask if theyre looking for a pool pass?People flexing in front of the mirrors in the locker room was new to me. Also super awkward. Some dudes were super into it though.Showers and steam room are pretty disgusting - maybe skip them. Got to the pool and it was probably violating some health codes - lots of weird stuff floating around.Just not gonna, not gonna come back here.
I have been a member here for 5plus years. I would recommend this gym to my friends are anyone else. It is generally clean.
Ehhh.. meatheads and dirty equipment. Wash your hands after workouts.
I love this place great environment!! Very clean facilities. All the personal trainers are very resourceful.
Difficult to cancel, otherwise I would have rated higher. Only reason I picked this place was it seems to be the only place with a pool, workout equipment and sauna. Sauna only goes up to 115F which is barely hot enough to even sweat. Too crowded during the few times I went. One time free trainer was nowhere to be found, assuming whoever it was didnt show up that day. Equipment handles dry rotted foamy material.
Best gym in town!
Place is huge! Clean place and bathrooms /locker room, no gym odor, friendly staff. Well located plenty of parking
DO NOT go to ANY LA fitness. It’s overpriced and half the equipment is broken. Joined for the pool, but it’s always under maintenance. The management is a complete mess, it’s always changing. I cancelled a personal training membership last year and they’re still charging me MONTHS later and claim to have no record of anything. Save your self time, energy and money and go to literally any other gym in Louisville.
It was very professional very clean they helped me so much I joined I havent been there yet tomorrow Sunday I start it was fantastic
Lots of things to do here swim, walking trace and lots of different rooms to excerise in and also classes and one room for woman to excersie. Thumbs ☝
Friendly staff and a plenty of seriously in shape customers to motivate you
DO NOT USE THIS DAYCARE! LOOKS AND FEELS COLD, DIRTY, AND DINGY VERY MUCH LIKE A PRISON. THE GIRL WHO WATCHED MY DAUGHTER WAS TERRIBLE WITH KIDS! HAVENT BEEN BACK TO GYM BECAUSE ITS NOT SAFE AND IS NOT A WARM FEELING FOR MY DAUGHTER. SHE IS SCARED OF THIS PLACE!Worst kids Klub on the planet looks like a damn prison everything in there is nasty. Yea kids are dirty but damn everything looks like its covered in filth. Very dingy and dimly lit. The girl who was watching my daughter was horribly unpleasant and told me my kid was horrible. Will not come back here ever again. DO NOT LEAVE KIDS HERE! GO TO TAYLORSVILLE RD LOCATION AT LEAST THEY ARE A LITTLE CLEANER!
Joined for a while and was able to take advantage of the gym but after moving, canceling the membership was next to impossible. They still ended up charging several months past my cancelation date.
Everything u need to work out. Great place
Nice gym, if you dont have gold gym in your town, this will do it just fine.
This gym will try to scam you out of your money. I have been price shopping for a gym in louisville and I finally negotiated a 3 month membership deal for $69.98 total, no cancellation fee and no initiation fee, over the phone. She said she would email me the receipt over email after I gave my card information. I asked her to email me the contract before I pay but she said that the system wont let her do that. As soon as I gave them my credit card information they informed me that the first charge would be today for $59.98 and the next charge would be in one month for $29.99. I then asked them to add those two numbers together for me (knowing it totaled to roughly $90) and she told me the total. She then tried to explain something about how the deal changed, at which point I told them $70 or nothing. She then got extremely rude at which point I said do not charge me a penny and cancel this membership. After that she hung up the phone. The person I spoke with was Sarah and and I could tell that there was another person in the room dictating to her what to say. I assume this was her boss. I just checked my card and a charge for $60 went through. I have contacted my credit card company and reported them for fraud. I will be posting this on BBB and contacting their headquarters.
This gym is excellent. Loads of machines of all kinds.
Equipment is okay for a gym of this size. Weights are scattered all of the place do to lack of organization and good house keeping .This locarion has failed to open twice since Ive been a member.
The corporate structure is awful. Urban Active is way better than LA Fitness. Their corporate people only care about money and get absolutely nothing done with memberships and fixing equipment.
I go there but the TV channels suck and they need to do updates. I only go there because its convenient.
Gym was okay. Clean, not too many other people. Staff wasnt very friendly and the lighting was fairly dark.
Pros: Lots of space, machines, and free weightsCons: Gym is not the cleanest and staff is very unfriendly, sometimes rude. Equipment is worn, machines are not smooth, and repairs take a very long time. LIMITED HOURS! Keep the gym open later than 9PM on Friday and 7PM on the weekends. They close the gym when it is full of customers! The LA Fitnesses in Indianapolis stay open later, why not you?Lots of single people like to hit the gyms on the weekends instead of drinking at the bars. Let us train!
Expensive, many machines and rooms ie sauna broken for weeks/months before every getting fixed. Act of God to cancel membership
Spacious, lots of equipment, and relatively clean (as gyms go) conveniently located in the middle of St. Matthews.
I actually really wanted to join, but the guy who gave me a tour was slimy and acted condescending towards me. Then he tried to hard sell me. Then another guy came and tried to sell me, speaking to me in a baby voice as if I were a child. As a feminist, I could not possibly support a business that hires such predatory men. I called and asked to speak with the manager, but he was too busy to speak with me. No thanks.
Great location being right next to wholefoods
Steam room never works right. Thats the only bad part other then that I like working out here.....
Pros: good equipment and not a bad size for area. Its St. Matthews so traffic is mall traffix.Cons: Customer service are inconsistent and can swing maybe* nice if they are having a good day or very rude for no reason. Cost is too high and only reason im still on is i plan to ride it out and then cut the contract so no renewal for me and I dont ever plan on recommending them ever to anyone if someone asked.Bathrooms are always extremy disgusting at all times of day so I wouldnt be surprised if disease spreads quickly. Its only about profit to them.Car theft is outrageous and LA Fitness refuses to make their part a safer parking lot so crime is a constant frequent of car break ins and also theft in the gym as well.
Have not updated machines or dumbbells in past 5 years.
Continously called my phone after asking them to remove me from the no call list after doing a trial membership.
Padding on the equipment showing a lot of wear. Stop relying on the weight machines to be your weight racks. Its annoying.
Some of the equipment is broken, the remainder is occupied by an image obsessed douche who spends most of the time looking at him/herself in the mirror. most of the televisions dont work, there is a layer of nasty sweat grime on many of the ellipticals. i usually end up working out on a limited set of machines, wondering why I dont switch to better gym. im really not exaggerating. this is one of the worst gyms Ive ever belonged to.
Bathrooms are disgusting. Stalls rarely have toilet paper except for all the pieces on the floor. Dont even bother asking anyone, nothing will get done. Very poorly managed.
Beautiful place.
Adult basketball was great.
Save your money....use planet fitness
Workout does u good!
Good place to work out.
Almost perfect, missing jacuzzi.
This is a two-story gym with the track upstairs this gym does not cater to people with disabilities no elevator no access to second you cant climb the stairs you cant use the track upstairs first LA Fitness I saw that didnt help people with disabilities
Nets on basketball hoops are always ripped; never replaced. sauna is out half the time in the men’s locker room.
My home away from home
Staff do not maintain equipment well
