Dr. Barnett released 5 ties (tongue, upper and lower lips and top buccals) in my son’s mouth when he was 3 months old. It improved our ability to nurse and decreased his gas and discomfort. He is now a much more content baby. The procedure went smoothly, but the thing I appreciate most is the follow up care. Dr. Barnett and his staff take care to make sure you understand what to do to get the most out of the procedure. They instruct you on how to care for the released ties and schedule follow up appointments to check healing and progress. None of these things happened when we had my daughter’s tongue released with ENT. I highly recommend Stony Brook Dental Care!

The dentist is great but the office staff are horrendous. My daughter had a procedure in Dec. 2020 and here we are in July 2021 and we have yet to be reimbursed the amount our dental insurance covered. At this time, this office has been paid twice; what we paid up front and out of pocket and what our insurance paid. And here we are 8 months after the procedure still waiting for them to reimburse us.To make matters worse the office refuses to communicate with us. Ive called the office at least 30 times over the last 6 months inquiring about an update on reimbursement. Most of the time, no one at the office picks up and Im forced to leave a voicemail. Not one time was my call returned. Not once. On the rare occasion they do answer the phone and I get to speak to one of the two women working the front desk, Im told theyre working on resolving the issue. I conclude each of these calls by asking them to update me when theres progress and again not one time was I ever called or updated. I dont know how an office with such poor follow-up and such abysmal customer service stays in business. As a fellow healthcare worker, Id be embarrassed. Do not go here if you have any other options and if you are forced to visit this practice, do not pay anything before the claim is submitted to your insurance or youll find yourself spending hours and hours calling an office that wants nothing more than to ignore you.

Brought my 4 month old daughter to Dr Barnett to have her oral ties revised. Not only did he assess her mouth for visible issues. But I answered a questionnaire on our breastfeeding experience. We had 1 week post procedure & 1 month post procedure follow ups to ensure she was healing correctly. Him & the staff were excellent with her! Not an easy procedure to have her go through. But they were great!

The staff here are not only helpful, they are all knowledgeable if you have any questions or reservations. I was seen as a squeeze in emergency yet never felt rushed or hurried. I even received a discount on my service since insurance didn’t cover my needs at this time.

The dentist is top notch, however its not worth having to deal with his wife at the front desk. She is rude and pushy. I was sent an enrollment for their in house insurance and I accepted the cheapest plan. The front desk proceeded to tell me that she thought I should have gotten the more expensive plan and would go ahead and unenroll me herself and put me in the more expensive plan. When I told her I couldnt afford it she told me that maybe I should get another job. I will never again return to that office bc of the simple audacity. Go somewhere else. Youll be doing yourself a favor.

As usual they were prompt upon my arrival. The hygienist went to work on my cleaning immediately. She explained what steps she was taking during the process. Future appointment was made prior to departure. Entire experience was pleasant and I will continue to make referrals to my friends and family.

I have been a patient at Stony Brook for many years now. Today, December 24th, I had a dental emergency. Dr. Barnett and his receptionist came in and took care of my emergency even though it was Christmas Eve!They work with my work hours for my annual appointments, and are always courteous and friendly.

Been coming here so long. They are like family and they treat me as such!

This was my first visit at Stony Brook Dental in Louisville, KY. I went for a TMJ consultation. I have to admit I was there for the consultation for 3 hours but it was time well spent. Dr. Barnett and his staff were very helpful and friendly. I appreciated the invasion tests and knowledge that they had and knew about TMJ. I have dealt with many, many dental offices about my TMJ over the last 7 years and this place really made me feel relaxed. I hope to get the care I need of course money issue but I am not giving up on trying to get my chronic TMJ pain better!

Called about son having a lip tie they did a full exam and he needed tongue, 2 buccal and 2 lip ties hes learning how to use his unrestricted mouth but have already had great improvement with sx. They got me in the next day they were all super nice and accommodating. I highly reccomend!

They are Liars and scam artists..... went in for a consultation December 2018, I went in under the impression that insurance would be filed, I should not have paid anything until my insurance was filed. Iwas told several times before that it would be filed on my insurance but the claim never was sent in... I paid a fee when I had the consultation that I was told would be reimbursed when insurance was filed, this was after I asked on the phone at the initial contact I was told that o would not have to pay anything until insurance was filed. There were two treatment plans, the first was denied from my insurance, I was told several times that an appeal and a second opinion would be filed with my insurance. They refused to send in the second treatment plan because the doctor said the first was more important. Every time I call, I have been lied to and given the run around... They always say there is not a lot of the last time I called and what I was told. I slent $175 and a wasted afternoon, I am still in extreme pain but they refuse to follow through. I see how they over price everything and never file insurance. I cant file an insurance fraud claim because they never filed on my insurance.

Dr. Barnett is the only dentist (including specialists!) that has been able to control my TMD and get me pain free! The office staff is amazing. They are very professional and friendly. The level of service provided is unmatched. I leave with a rose and a thank you at every visit (Im going weekly for pain management!) which is such a classy touch. When I had a dental appliance ordered the lab took much longer than expected and Dr. Barnett personally provided an apology with a hug for my inconvenience despite the fact it was not their fault. I recently had to cancel an appointment because my toddler had the flu and they sent her a get well card with the sweetest note and packet of hot chocolate. She isnt even a patient there! These are wonderful people providing amazing service and I recommend them to everyone!!! Their equipment is advanced, the office is incredibly clean, and the level of dental care is truly phenomenal. I love SBDC!

This is my experience and I advise you call your insurance before following through with any procedure. They said I was covered by insurance. They did not tell me that I was covered, but not as an in network provider. They, the dental office, was however covered as an in network provider. What this means is they get all money! Even that that is an overcharge which a patient does not have to pay with an in network provider. I was charged as out of network and since they make you pay up front they get every penny even the overcharge. Of My 1200.00 bill(roughly), that I paid up front, insurance paid 652.00. If I had gone to an in network provider I would not have had to pay the 548.00 overcharge! The $1200.00 was for a bite guard only, per the nurse.

They were able to get me in same day to re-install a crown that fell out. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I will definitely go back to them again.

Professional, immaculate and very nice staff. Better than what you could or would ever expect to experience going to the dentist. They are a one stop facility from basic check ups and cleanings to cosmetic and orthodontics. I have never taken the time to write a review for a dentist or doctor. This was the best decision I made to make Stony Brook my primary place for dental care.

I cannot emphasize the inadequacy of this dentist. The office has impressive equipment and the staff is friendly. Dont be fooled as I was. Treatment for TMD is 6x what other dentists charge, which totals more than $6000 - paid upfront, before treatment. Treatment is nothing restorative like crowns, fillings, reconstruction, or braces. It just pays for appliances and 5 minutes of cold laser therapy a week for 6 weeks. The appliances (mouthguards/splints) are cheaply made (verified by two other dentists I saw after leaving Stony Brook). I paid for 3, and 1 didnt fit from the first fitting. The dentist told me I didnt need it. Then why did I pay for it? The other guard kept popping out it was so loose. 7 weeks, after telling them every week that my pain was not decreasing, the dentist became visibly upset and yelled that something was wrong with me. They say 100% of patients get better after treatment, as long as they are compliant. I wondered why someone would not be compliant after paying so much. I now realize you cant be compliant with mouth pieces that dont fit at best, and often makes things worse. This practice is unethical to take advantage of patients in pain, promising 100% healing while over inflating the charges. The fact is that Dr Barnett is very inadequate in treating TMD.

The staff at Stony Brook Dental are all top notch. They are very friendly and personable and instantly put you at ease. Ive been a patient there for so many years I cant even remember how long it has actually been. Dr. Barnett is an excellent dentist and someone that I would highly recommend.

Went for an initial consultation in August 2019. Got an additional flouride treatment that cost more. Paid out of pocket with a debit card as I left the visit. Moved out of town the following month. In late April 2020 I started getting random, automated emails that I owed them an additional $89. I sent them an email asking for a breakdown of that, because I paid out of pocket during the visit. I was told I would get that by email within a week. Here I am 3 weeks later and still no breakdown of the supposed cost. Yet I get another automated email with a link to a new bill. Now its been knocked down to $29. Still says it is from early January, and is described only as previous balance.I wouldnt trust this place. They clearly no have idea what theyre doing with billing. Random bills 9 months later, that are unexplained, with no breakdown of the supposed procedures other than previous balance, no ability to provide me with that information, etc. Find somewhere else.

I love Stony Brook Dental care. The staff couldnt be more friendly and accommodating. They go out of their way from the minute you walk in the door until you leave to make sure you are satisfied and comfortable. I hate going to the dentist but ever since I started going here it has been a totally different experience. I cant say enough about how much pride they put into their business. I wouldnt trust anyone but Mike and his staff to work on my teeth!

The staff is very friendly and its a good dental facility for check-ups and cleanings. However, I would not use them for other dental work based on my experience. Like one of the previous reviewers mentioned; patient outcomes should be the top priority for anyone in the dentistry field. Update: Ive spent thousands out of pocket, because of subpar dental work at this location. I understand that mistakes can happen, but its inexcusable that I wasnt offered a viable resolution. It started with a replacement filling that led to an abscessed tooth. It was some of the worst pain that Ive ever experienced. I ended up getting a root canal that was only partially covered by insurance. When I went to get the crown, it didnt fit properly. I told the dentist that it didnt feel right and they tried to adjust it, but it still didnt fit correctly. The crown eventually broke off and I had to get fitted for a new one. The new crown didnt hold either and there wasnt enough tooth structure left to place another crown correctly. The dentist told me that I would need an extraction and implant. Heres the kicker: Not only did this dentist not offer to cover any of this cost, they actually charged me for the extra visits in order to fix the problem they caused. So, I had to pay for a root canal, a crown that was never fitted properly, extra visits, a tooth extraction, and an implant. Im just now able to afford the abutment and crown for the implant. I believe that the KY Board of Dentistry should hear about my experience as well.

Dr. Barnett and his staff go above and beyond to provide you with the best care. I would strongly recommend them to family/ friends. They encompass my idea of exceptional service and customer service.

Beware. I went in with a cracked tooth and they were trying to talk me into a root canal before they even looked at it. They told me they were only doing a cursory exam and said my insurance would cover the cost beyond what I paid. They told me I was only committed to pay for the exam ($70) and the radiographic ($35). And then the Dentist put a temporary filling to hold me over. ($102!!!!) A temp filling! And it fell out that day!! You could go to walgreens for $6 and have a little tub that would allow you to do your own temp filling at least 30 times. When I complained about the upcharge the office administrator had the gall to ask me if I wanted to give it back. I should have said sure take it out. How classless. Will never go back.

Stony Brook Dental is the best I have ever dealt with. Thorough and detailed, Dr. Barnett and staff communicate every procedure and need with great care. I recommend them highly.

Clearly the practice has excellent customer service with poor patient outcomes. The clinic ambiance is undeniably superb. However, after the dentist filled my teeth, I have been having constant low grade pain that was not present before the filling. My teeth have also become very sensitive to water and temperature changes which has negatively impacted my ability to eat food. Even after going back to the same dentist several times my problems were not resolved. All I can say to potential patients is to be VERY cautious as the customer service can be deceiving. Patient outcomes should be paramount.

As a person who has always been leery of dentists, and who has always dreaded regular appointments, I thought Stony Brook Dental care would be more of the same of what Ive always been used to. I was wrong! Dr. Barnett and his staff treat their patients wonderfully. Im always comfortable from the moment I walk in the door. They seem to have the latest technology and are very hospitable. The office and treatment of patients has a very high-end feel that makes those trips to the dentist much more enjoyable!
