Used masks left in the last two cars, food in the console, trash under the seat and one wreaking of smoke… Tired of the basic we do everything to clean, protect, sanitize every car when it comes in.Yeah, they always claim safety and tout customer service…C’mon… Lies!- Either you’re lying about cleaning the cars (which you are)- Or you lied about nobody finding my personal belongings. (I left/ my fault)Our team is done with National. We’re not going to expect folks to rent cars, during this time, with dirty masks in them and leftover food.Big loss for National. I don’t know who’s better, but they’ll enjoy the business.

Took over an hour to get a car despite having a reservation. There’s only one person working the line and she was working as hard as she could, but there was a line of at least 20 people...where is the backup? The employee was a champ though. Great attitude despite being set up to lose by whoever sets the staffing.

Rude and arrogant man at the “customer service desk”. Had me in tears after cursing at me and telling me my daughter being in the hospital wasn’t his problem it was my problem. Finally got a vehicle when another nice lady stepped in and the valet was very courteous. Had to sit in parking lot for a while because I was too upset to drive. He should never be allowed to work with people. Will not use this service again

Useless. My flight was delayed by several hours. I called as soon as I found out to confirm that I would still be able to pick up my rental when I landed, and I was assured I would be able to.Upon arrival, I found everything locked up. Eventually I found a guy hiding in a little cabin thing who said he couldnt help me.Really just not good enough, now I have to get a taxi or Uber to my hotel so that I can come back in the morning to collect the car.Rubbisb customer service. If I wasnt going to be able to pick up my car, tell me that before I arrive in the middle of the night so that I can at least plan accordingly.

Good experience at National. Staff was courteous and quick to speak with me and get me into a vehicle. High mark for vehicle cleanliness. Felt safe renting vehicle in time of Covid. The only reason I give experience a 4 star is the limited number of vehicles. I rented a full size vehicle but they did not have so put me in a small SUV. Again, there were limited options which I was not fond of the 3 vehicle options but needed one so selected. Regardless, would definitely rent from them again.

I’ve rented from this location consistently for over seven years now and if I’ve ever had an issue it was immediately resolved.I must make a special note on Mr. Joshua Howard. Josh has worked with me for most of the time I have been renting from National. He’s been nothing but professional, courteous, and delivered exceptional customer service.Josh is the main reason I continue to rent from this national location as long as I have. The company has an incredible manager in josh and I hope he is recognized for his talent, skill and efforts.

I always have loved National. I’ve actually never had a bad rental experience with them. However, yesterday I saw charges over $600 on my credit card from National. Went on to my app and noticed there was a car rented in my name and with my credit card. I have had to call 4 times today only for someone to tell me the manager was the only one who could call me back. Even though an investigation has already been done, he is the only one who can tell me. Oh, and guess what the manager hasn’t been to the location today! So what your saying is that you charged my credit card and allowed someone to rent a vehicle as me, obviously not checking a drivers license when they left. And as the customer I am stuck with the bill and wondering if someone is using my information to rent the vehicle. But let me wait until the “only” manager who can call me back get back to work. I am an executive member and my company uses National thousands of times throughout the year. Thanks for making me feel a valued consumer!!

I was going to rent a car and they say they don’t accept debit which no one told me until I got there. I get my credit card and it would have worked but they added $300 to the price which was too much for my credit card and I repeatedly asked what the 300 was for and no one told me anything they would just look over the question.

My initial rental was planned as a round trip from Nashville, TN and back. I cancelled my flight from Louisville, KY to Nashville, TN and decided to drive from Louisville to my business destination. I ended up cancelling my return flight from Nashville to Baltimore and drove the same car all the way. National was so easy to work with on each of the changes. I made the first change using the mobile app, but a rep helped me with the second change. Thanks so much for you excellent customer service in these especially troubling times!

On may most recent rental, there were some problems. I have to say, this was the first time I ever had a problem.When I went to pick up the car, there were none. I had made the reservation 1 week earlier. I ended up waiting about 35 minutes. When they said it was ready, I was directed to the return lot. When there, I waited another 15 minutes, when an employee sped up with a vehicle for me.The car had not been cleaned sufficiently - it had trash and a couple of bottles on the floor and the gas tank wasnt full.Not my best experience.

Great experience with pick-up and drop-off off. Two issues I had were when ordering a trip for work and pleasure it was a challenge to use my free days. Had to call 3 times. Rather then just adding the days and not charging me, they charged me first and then refunded me for the 3 days... Very frustrating. Second item was they did not offer me a E-Z Pass for tolls. Could have made my trip much simpler.

Wasnt to happy with the so called cleanliness of my vehicle with all thats going on with Covid, after picking my car up and driving for a little bit I get out to put something in the back seat and a used monster can rolls out from under the drivers seat, so leaves me to believe the vehicle wasnt thoroughly cleaned.Edit: changed from 1 Star To 5 Star contacted customer support and was happy with the solution

Pick-up at SDF was fine, but their enhanced cleaning certainly doesnt get out cigarette smoke: the odor was strong enough to make my clothes smell hours after getting out of the car.

I have rented many vehicles in my career and this time I got the worst Ive ever had. Someone had smoked in it and the stench stayed in the fabric of the seats. They ruined this car and it should have never been made available. Apparently, the person(s) smoked with the windows up and the air on recirc. The stench would knock you down when you open the door and it was absolutely bad if it had been sitting in the sun. When I picked up the car I did notice the strong odor, but since this was the first rental since the virus I thought it may have been some disinfectant and the rental counter was a five minute walk away, so I just thought it would get better. By the time I figured out that it was not a disinfectant I was too far down the road. National definitely need to do a better job of enforcing the no smoking policy and dealing with violators appropriately. I had the car for over 2 weeks and it only got slightly better after I drove it much of the time with a window down to air it out.

Theres nothing NOT to like about renting a car from National Car Rental. You can spend your time shopping the best price, but you get exactly what you pay for in return, National Car Rental makes renting a car easy and hassle free. If efficiency and excellent customer service is important to you, spend the extra couple of dollars a day on your rental car and spend your time doing something more constructive in your day.Theres never enough time in a day to get your job done or take care of a family matter, so take the stress associated with renting a car out of your day and check the next box on your To Do list. I stood in line for over 25 minutes waiting on two customers to get a rental in front of me. That would not have been that bad, but the one person at the desk literally ran out the door twice trying to get his co-worker to come back in and help. She finally came back in when (Im guessing) her break was over .It also is random, at the Louisville airport (SDF) if Executive Elite has any bearing on the car you get. Most of the time I will get offered a Malibu or an Escape. Every once in a while a clerk will say, oh youre Executive Elite, would you like a Cadillac or a double cab pickup truck. (Not a BMW, or a mini cooper like i get offered in Rochester, NY (ROC), but it just shows the inconsistency at the Louisville, KY airport. So this is why only 3 stars, I had to give at least 3 stars because the car I did get was brand new and it drove great, no issues at all.

I am usually a fan of National Car Rental owing to my Executive status. However, my last encounter has forced me to write a negative review. I missed a flight at IAD and rather than wait until the morning to fly to NJ, I went to the National/Enterprise rental counter. I requested a one-way rental to EWR but was told they didnt do one way rentals and that any rental had a minimum number of days. A competitor happily sent me to NJ in a one-way rental with NO PROBLEM.As National is my employers rental agency of choice, this a contrary to 15 years combined of business and personal experience as I have often rented by the day and have completed many one-way rentals.Very disappointed in their lack of service.

Excellent Experience With Potential For ImprovementSo far, I have rented multiple vehicles from This particular NATIONAL Car Rental location.The company, I work for switched contracts and this turned out to be an excellent move.Very good experiences, motivated, professional, and very friendly staff, good selection of vehicles, over all service is excellent.Potential for improvement and the only reason for not awarding five stars is the cleanliness of the vehicles.I know you can do better and I am sure you will.Unfortunately, some people do not respect other peoples property and return their rental cars not in a very clean condition.Dear NATIONAL Team, please take the challenge and bring the customers experience to the next level.My suggestion:I do not expect a car in perfect show car condition, but create a brief check list and address the obvious issues.Thank you for your service.P.S.:I work for an automobile manufacturer in the premium segment as Supplier Quality Engineer for interiors.

You know the commercials about how you dont have to talk to anyone, just get in a car and go? Well thats not true in Louisville and SLC. Even if youre executive elite status, you must interact with people. Even so, the cars were all dirty on the exterior and the particular jeep we rented was dirty on the inside. At a normal location, no problem, just get in another car near you and youre on your way. But in SDF, it was a good walk and I didnt feel like schlepping it back in there to get a different car.

This National Car Rental location (looval) is great! All of the staff are professional, friendly, and efficient. Josh in particular is great. He remembers me and my car preference when I check in and has always been very helpful. The car selection is very good and the cars have generally been cleaner and lower mileage than other National locations I frequent. I highly recommend National at this location.

I came in late to Louisville. The counter was not busy. They were very pleasant and helped pick my car. Walked out and got in and left. There is no exit check at this airport. My return was early in the morning. Easy, no rush. Very pleasant. One of the easiest and comfortable rentals I have had.

We recently booked a car rental through our National Car Rental Emerald Club membership for the first time at the Louisville, Kentucky airport. I couldnt believe how quick and pleasant the process was as well as a great select of vehicles and price. From the beginning of the process at the front desk to the attendant at the return, the customer service was outstanding. I would like to acknowledge Jamie at the counter for being so friendly and accommodating, he was great. I would highly recommend National Emerald Club.

No emerald aisle. Walk all the way to the lot to be rudely turned away back to the terminal. They select a car for you and send you back to the lot. Cars are packed tightly and tough to manevour out of.Once on the highway ( after passing many lot workers) I had to push out the mirrors.Avis would be better as I can select the car I want.

Rental with National is normall easy and quick until this last pick-up.Pick up at the Louisville International Airport was not the normal. The pick up time was 6 am. Light snow fall in the early evening caused ice and snow on the vehicle. The attendant that provided the keys to the car informed me that the car was ready, with the windshield cleaned off. Car was ready for me. As was his answer to my question. But upon my arrival to my car, and as I passed other cars that were running to remove the ice and snow, but my vehicle was not touched. Picked up car at Louisville airport. Counter to the ads where with National, Im a pro because I can choose my own vehicle, Louisville office assigns you a vehicle. When I walked to my vehicle and checked it over, the fuel tank showed a little over half full. With no service people at the car park area, I needed to walk back into the desk in the terminal. The agent there had no record that the car only had about half a tank of gas. He recorded that but I had no record that I was taking the car out with half a tank. I returned the car with about 3/4s of a tank because I didnt want to be under what I received it at. Sometimes these things happen. However, without a record, if I had driven off without raising this as a problem, my Company would likely have paid for a half a tank of fuel needlessly. This was not my best experience with National.

The only issue i have is this one of the only national airport locations i have been at where you dont get to pick out your own car. But thats not this agencies fault. Its just the way they have that airport laid out and managed. Other than that this rental car agency its an A plus in my book.

Very easy to go from the terminal to pick up my car from the National Car Rental lot. I was really happy that I did not have to board a shuttle bus. The lot is just outside the terminal door. As an Emerald Club Member I rented a Nissan Rogue that only had 1385 miles on it (was hoping for a Maserati but unwilling to pay for upgrade). The car rode very smoothly.Enjoyed the experience!

My experience was Awesome and the service was Great!!! But I experience some issues with the car and asked for someone to come meet me or could I drop the car off. But to my avail I had to drive the 25 miles to drop it off then no one showed concern for the issues. I thought there was some assistance that was provided but I did not get it. I still love Enterprise/National but some things might need a little better supervision.

Our plans changed due to not being able to get flights back from KY to Baltimore. Hertz wanted $800(+) to have us change our current reservation. I canceled and booked with National and it was about $200. The guy at the counter said he needed to move some BMWs from KY to the east coast and asked if we would mind taking one back--for the same price as our current reservation... needless to say we didnt mind! He also waived the additional driver fee. All in with insurance and prepaid gas it was $278.00 from Louisville to Baltimore in a BMW 5 Series. Great customer service!!

Very easy process. I have never used National and was not flying in or out of the airport in Louisville (live locally) and was a bit skeptical about how it will all work. It was all simple and quick. I got to choose the type of car I wanted and was very happy with the car I was rented. Easy return process as well. Will be renting from again very soon!

The car was excellent, the return service was excellent. My reason for three stars is that the check in process at the Louisville airport is always horrendous. Many of us stood in line for 30 minutes to an hour. A quick look around at the other car rental kiosks there was hardly a line. Is there any way to get an automated system like there is at other airports?

Our experience recently with National Car Rental was very satisfying. I showed up to pick my rental and all paper work was finished. I selected my vehicle and was on my way in less than 5 minutes. Our rental was for 8 days. My return went very smooth. I pulled up, a representative met me, checked my mileage and car condition. I was headed home in less than 5 minutes. Recieved Nissan Rouge after waiting in line for 20 minutes. The windows were so dirty that I had to try and clean prior to leaving the lot. The glare at night with the film that accumulated on the windows made it difficult to see. Once I was leaving the lot I noticed the right blinker was blinking fast and once I was at the hotel I was able to confirm that the right front light was out. So not sure the inspection process is working well.Also rear door would not raise all the way and had to be pushed up so I wouldnt hit my head and I am not tall. AC would not work unless it was turned down to 60. This was one of the worst cars I have ever rented.

I have always had good if not great experiences with National at Louisville. I never seem to arrive there before 10PM and always get at the least the car I was asking for, if not one or two grades better. Their cars are always clean and ready for use. If they are closed then they ask you to step over to the Enterprise counter which is open later. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars was that I always seem to get the car that is way over in one of the last spots, probably due to the time I arrive at the airport.

I was very happy with the speed and service I got at the airport. They had exactly what I needed so i didnt have to bargain or wait for a car. I would have given this experience a 5 except for 2 things. First, the agent asked me if I had ever been there before and I said no. So he communicated to me to just follow the signs to my row and spot S33. It turns out that my car was in Q5 which I only learned after walking around looking for my car type and color. There was no one out there to assist and calling only gave me a 1-800 number. I would have walked back in but it is on the other side of the terminal hall and the entire parking lot. Did I mention that it was in the 20s?! So ok, i got through that. The 2nd thing is that I would have preferred that he tell me the return procedure because every rental facility does it differently and you get anxious trying to figure it all out when you are also trying to make sure you dont miss your flight, etc. Overall, I would use them again.

The car was a Hyundai Sonata, it was nearly new and was spotless inside and out. Checking the car back in was easy and quick when arrived back at the airport and once again the associate was friendly and polite. A job well done.

My flight was cancelled around 9pm and there was no choice but to stay another night in Louisville. Retrieved luggage from baggage claim, watched people yell at the airline and realized I needed a car again. Nationals desk had two people staffed while the other rental places employees were sitting in the back messing around. Literally within 10 min I completed my rental and was walking out to the nice Buick. It was the best thing that happened to me that day- In and Out

Battery dead in morning of third day. Initiated roadside service request 6:50am and finished 7:35am. Put on hold and never reconnected. Service arrived pretty quickly and everything went fine after that. Poor marks to your customer service group for roadside assistance.

Worst customer service I have experienced in 30 years of renting a car. Car broke down and I had to make three calls to get the car picked up. It took a week for them to get it at the hotel. I already completed my trip and I still had to deal with getting it removed from hotel. At the airport the RVP was very cold and not to caring.

The National counter was fast and easy as it always is in the Louisville Airport. The gentlemen that helped me was friendly and thorough. There is no Emerald aisle but this airport is so easy to navigate I really dont notice any time sink because of it. The computer system or printer was down the day that I came through. This did not delay my transaction however I thought afterward I have no paperwork to prove I legally rented this vehicle in case anything were to happen. No harm done.

Normally, National would get a 5 star from me, but my recent trip was out of character for them. First item was a 20 person deep line at the counter instead of allowing me to pick a car and go. I’m not sure if they were understaffed or under trained, but the wait was longer than anyone anticipated.Second, the choices presented to me landed me in a Ram BigHorn pick-up. A truck wasn’t the issue, but the fact that it had been smoked in and then some awful cover-up spray used to “hide” the stench just made it worse. I had a long drive ahead so instead of returning to an overtaxed counter, I pressed on with the windows down on a hot day. Upon turn in, no one inquired about my satisfaction with the vehicle. I took photos of ashes in the center console. I wish ALL National rental locations had strong leadership and employees.

JD at Alamo was able to get me a National vehicle even though National was closed..sedan requested in reservation but not initially available .. So first gave me 2 Alamo cars that were not properly prepared or still had heavy cigarette odor. Then got me a National car. Although that vehicle did not have ice/snow brush, was not full gas and the low wiper fluid light was on. The passenger compartments were clean but leaves in the trunk and stuck in door. But JD did finally get me a sedan.

Used to LOVE this location, even though its not a true Emerald Club, nor does it have covered parking. The last two times have been a huge disappointment. First, gas tank was not refilled. Second, left behind a parking pass and its nowhere to be found, even though I called within two hours of realizing it was gone.Have been Emerald Club for quite some time, but I will not be doing business with this location going forward.

Picked up a car in Louisville. The storage lot is outside so picking up a car in the rain/snow isnt the best experience. Other than that, pick up from the emerald aisle was relatively quick and easy. Turning the car in was equally simple. But it is a long walk in the rain/snow back to the terminal with your bags.

Incredible Disappointment, Horrific Customer Service - I have been a long time loyal customer of National and hold Executive Elite status. A few weeks ago I reserved an SUV using my free rental days. Picked up the car at Louisville Airport on 8/16 and instead of being given the car I had reserved, was instead given a minivan that looked like it had been sacrificed at the local county fair demolition derby. I spoke with the agent and this was apparently my assigned car and he confirmed that ALL noted damages were logged into the system. Over the course of my rental there was an incredible stench that was only identified 4 days in after searching every crevice in the vehicle. Beyond the bug carcasses and trash left behind from the previous renters, was a baby bottle with sour milk causing the problem. When I dropped the car off at the Detroit Metro Airport, the District Manager, Ross, who checked me in said was horrified and embarrassed to see the vehicle which I had been given. He apologized profusely on behalf of the company. He then proceeded to proactively OFFER to credit the taxes I had paid AND the 7 free rental days I had used on this hunk of junk. More than 2 weeks have now passed, no credit on the taxes or the rental days has been granted. After calling the National Customer Service line who essentially refused to help me other than to pass the buck, and calling the Detroit Metro Airport location trying to track down the district manager who has not returned my call, I now receive a second call from the Damage Recovery branch of National who is launching an investigation into the damage on this car. I was asked multiple questions regarding my time with the rental, all trying to seek out how I might have caused the condition of the vehicle. I find it ironic that I cannot get any resolution on my end for the lack of professionalism and service I received but the Damage Recovery Branch calls me at 7am to discuss the matter. I am furious and at a loss on how a company I have praised in public on numerous occasions has sunk to this level. This is a sad experience and if giving no stars was an option, that would have been my selection. I await a call from anyone within National willing to make things right.

I had 129 rental days from this location in the last year. The manager is fantastic, always takes care of business. Great service all around. I rarely have issues and the few times I have they are always quickly resolved. Ive used 3 other companies at SDF and none even come close including their sister company Enterprise.

The employees at the Louisville airport location are always very friendly and willing to address any concerns. The only problem i have had recently with the vehicles is the cleanliness with special regards to windows. With the past three rentals I have made through Louisville airport location the windshield and side windows were so foggy and smudged i could barely see driving at night or driving into the sun. This definitely creates a safety issue. I have purchased window wipes to carry with me just so I can clean the windows. It was not always like this. This has only became a problem over the past year. So please have your detail team / contractor pay more attention to the windows and over all cleanliness of the vehicle.

After being a regular Enterprise customer for many years, I recently joined the National Emerald Club. Even though both Enterprise and National are owned by the same company, National was much better. Better rates, better service. Louisville is a small airport, so some of the perks of the larger airports are not there, but still a very pleasant experience with National.

Had a 3-day midweek rental last week at the Louisville airport. As usual, all went well - nice car, ready when I was, everything in perfect shape, and a quick, smooth return. The only hitch is that, at Louisville airport, for Emerald Aisle you have to go to the counter and wait in line to pick up the car. There was no distinction between Emerald Aisle and non (separate signs but only one line!), and there seem to be many Emerald Aisle customers there.

I think National is great. The folks at the Louisville counter are friendly and professional, but I had a few issues with the car on my last rental there.First, it was raining hard and since the parking lot is not covered I got drenched. It would have been nice to have been provided an umbrella or have someone drive the car to me under a covered area.Secondly, I rented a higher end car and although it was clean and new the interior of the front window was dirty. I had to purchase window cleaner to clean it so that it wasnt a safety issue.Finally, the change oil light was illuminated. Not a driving issue but it made me wonder what ever maintenance issues were not being addressed.
