Great venue ... I went here for the Duke Dumont show on 9/11... Just coming home from it actually 😂 but anyways great venue overall ... We were on the top level in the balcony overlook ok basically second floor and since it was packed it was so hot!! The bottom was cooler than the top... You would think the top would be since there is more area for air flow but no it just stays there ... Other than that tho I was great!! Big and good lighting!!
Terrible venue. Went for a concert and after the 30 minute wait to get in, decided to skip the bar due to the incredibly long lines, and then made the way to the dance floor for the terrible sound with a uncomfortable resonance of the bass. At the end of the night we were ushered to leave in an unforgiving and rude way by the staff. They have such simple opportunities to improve this place, but the 5 or so times I have been the last 10 years have been consistently bad. I will be happy to never go back to see the wonderful artists they have perform at this unfortunate place. I don’t know why I went back tonight 🤷🏽♂️
Id like to express my gratitude to the cinema for making my movie night a big success. The whole movie experience was enjoyable! The room was enormous and soundproof! I have enjoyed your ticket staffs expertise and assistance in making my visit memorable!
The hall was nice and clean and the temperature was set very low to prevent overheating during the concert. I don’t think many places do that, so I was thankful for that. I do wish there were more bathrooms because it is hard to move through all of the crowd when you’re at a concert just to get to the back of the venue. Overall, it was a good place for a concert. Great views of the stage too!
I went today to the shrine auditorium for a political event. much of the facility is in beautiful shape but Ive got to be honest that the main auditorium needs some updates. Parking was really easy and a little bit on the expensive side but it is downtown Los Angeles. One thing that Ive learned in the last couple of days of telling otherswho are longtime residents of Los Angeles never call it the Shriner auditorium it is the shrine auditorium. I look forward to going back and seeing it updated a little bit
Its an indoor venue with a balcony (second floor). Huge floor space for standing no seats. Two bars. Two of each restrooms. Pretty simple place. Drinks were $10 each; ex: red bull, margarita. Cards accepted. Across from USC and near Coliseum. Parking was $20, cheaper than Lyft or Uber which cost us $50 both ways. 🤨
I went to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Premier at the Shrine. I havent been here in years. Such an amazing theatre and a classic room. But they really need to update the seats - they are built for the smaller people of the 1930s and the bathrooms - which feel like a high school locker room. These are pictures from the premier - amazing how they turned the Shrine into another world.
This venue is great with plenty of secure parking available if attending a concert. The venue has many bars inside and are well done. The seating inside is all standing for concerts as this space has no permanent seating. VIPs are balconies. Parking lots charge a fee around $20-25 look at video of you want to be infront by stage arriving early is strongly recommended.
This place is perfect for concerts I like this venue its a lot bigger than the Wiltern but it has the same qualities that I look for, its got the nostalgic look and it has balconies like you see in opera houses or old movies and looks great. The seats are comfortable and plenty of them on the second row as well as the top, and they have this section off VIP area that if you sit next to it on the far left or right can come in handy to sit your drinks on with the wall rail that separates your seat something to keep in mind. The pit area is about maybe 200 to 250 people max i would estimate but depending on whos playing they can adjust it less so another thing to keep in mind because that area could sell out quick. Parking was easy right next to it so come early to get a good space and avoid the crowds, especially because your in USC town so you will deal with that traffic around the venue, but you got 4 areas to park you can park on the street but good luck finding a spot again this is USC town. The bathrooms are a bit confusing at first because you go to either the left or right side once you walk in and theres a staircase going downstairs and thats the bathroom located, not sure if theres any upstairs the second floor. Before you get to the staircase for the bathroom right in front youll have the snacks and drinks for your consumption this was on the left side of the venue I dont know if the same thing is on the right.
The space was beautiful. Inside was lovely. Sadly if you are a little bit on the plus side, you may not be as comfy in their seats.Other then that, it was great. Staff was very kind and professional. Bathrooms where super nice and clean! Highly recommend to come here. We went here for #BE3 and it was the best time ever.
This is specific to the concert I just saw at the Shrine Expo Hall (the adjacent theater is a completely different venue under the same roof- many of you might not realize that)Here goes...I dont want to say many bad things about this venue because I have been to many a concert experiences here that I have loved despite its drawbacks (if you dont like general admission concerts or you expect a luxury box option, this isnt the place for you) and despite the easy comparisons to new, modern venues where it falls short (which I already mentioned). So for a true historic, traditional great time out, see a general admission concert at the Shrine Expo Hall. It is decently maintained (better in recent years) and the staff is very friendly including the security staff outside the venue that does a really good job of being friendly while enforcing their entry policies properly. Inside security staff are also very friendly and respectful too. They dont feel like concert gestapo at all! Thank you! Their concessions staff is very polite and all work very hard at making the drinks quickly and moving the line rapidly also. The venue is rich in historic significance and you can see that before the lights go down by exploring the awesome exterior Moroccan themed turrets and archways and the detail that went into everything before you go in.More of the same with the interior. The carpets and paint look new. The bathrooms are well maintained, and the light fixtures and details inside are beautiful (do yourself a favor and look around before you stare at the stage). Look up before the lights go down. The ceiling detail and the balcony wrapping around the expo hall U-shape on the 2nd floor has some truly incredible detail work and carving inlays.Yes, its cavernous, but you dont have to squish your way to the front to have a great experience. The sight lines everywhere are great, the sound is very good (well, it gets a bit heavy on the bass the further back you go), and even at full capacity, you can find room to move.Easy exiting too as they open up a huge bank of exit doors that lead directly out to the street.Easily accessible via public transit from the west side or downtown via the Expo Line, exit the USC/Jefferson station. Its $3.50 round trip versus the $20 - $30 charge to park nearby at some of the adjacent USC structures (plus your gas expense). And probably takes you less time on Light Rail to get there. Now that USC University Village is open about a block away at Jefferson and Hoover you are also within safe walking distance of some great, affordable, casual places to grab a meal and a drink before heading in.BIG LITTLE KNOWN BONUS: Their on site box office is open every Thursday from 12pm to 5pm where you can buy tickets with NO FEES in person for upcoming available shows.Have fun!
Like most concert venues in L.A., the parking was very expensive at $20 a car, right across the street from the Shrine. A beer cost $12 which also was typically expensive of L.A. venues. What we really had a problem with was the moving building. We went to see Two Door Cinema Club and as soon as everybody started jumping up and down, the entire floor and building started moving. It was incredibly scary. Were assuming that the building is built to withstand that kind of shaking but regardless, I was worried it was going to collapse at any second and I know we werent the only ones concerned. Several others left the concert while we exchanged worried glances with others. My husband left the concert out of fear & anxiety and although he watched most of it from the corridor, an overly enthusiastic usher got very close to his face to tell him to move from the corridor which additionally soured his experience there. Although he tried to explain to the usher, he wouldnt listen & was adamant that he move even though it was the last song of the concert, which we missed since the usher wouldnt let us stay there. In summary, we wont be returning to the shrine & we hope bands we love do not hold their concerts there in the future.
The Shrine is an excellent midsize venue for concerts! It is a historical venue theatre and it is close to USC downtown. The seating is somewhat confusing and I needed to be directed by staff members to find my seat, but once I did I really enjoyed the concert and the acoustics were excellent. I parked in a parking structure across the street for $15. Plenty of restaurants are within a short walking distance. Leave extra time to park because the area around USC is always congested with traffic.
I work as a Stagehand here for all the Goldenvoice events in the performance hall. As far as that particular section goes, the shows are always fantastic and have great energy. Sound is pretty good, considering standard auditorium reverb and echo issues. The rest of the Shrine Auditorium is as one would expect when walking through a 90-100 yr. old Los Angeles theatre.Classic mix of royal court meets golden age of hollywood. The mystic and slightly Masonic architecture style lends itself nicely to the Original Gangsta reputation that buildings of this caliber deservedly receive.Like the El Capitan, Pantages, Wiltern...its a fully functional Gem of LA
The Shrine Auditorium a beautiful classy place. My fiancé and I attended a concert there for 2 cellos. The staff was cordial and the service they provided was above average. The architecture and other details of this historical place are stunning. I definitely recommend if you get a chance to come visit to do it. You wont regret it.
I loved going into here for the AJR concert! It was well organized and it was fun seeing everything prepared and went smoothly. Definitely would go to concerts here again!🤘🏻🖤
Even though venue building is very old, they got a great hvac system! The concert was packed, a sold out show (5,000 people Max occupancy) and I had goosebumps through out night!shouldve brought a jacket
1st time here and cant wait to return. Its a small place so anywhere you sit you get an excellent view of the stage.
I went to the premiere of A Star Is Born which Im blessed to be in. The theatre is opulent and gorgeous and next to USC in a very nice area. Thank you to Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Warner Bros and everyone who made this possible. Its a great venue, a great premiere, and a great film! Hope everyone enjoys #AStarIsBorn. You will laugh, cry and you will be shook. Im grateful to God I got to be in this film. Everyone in it is terrific. Great cast and crew! Love you all!
Great venue for concerts. There is metered street parking closer to campus in order to avoid the $10 to $20 parking lots at the venue.
Nice historic venue for a more intimate concert.
Its big, its long. I wish there was more room up front. If you can brave the pit, there a lot of room up there.
A beautiful auditorium with decent acoustics but the area has a lot of traffic on the downside.
The Shrine Auditorium is a historic venue that has hosted the Academy Awards, the Grammy’s, the SAG Awards, the People’s Choice awards and more. The interior is exquisite! My mother and I saw the New York City Rockettes Christmas Show here, years ago. It was fabulous!
Its pretty freaking huge, Has interesting decor outside, however, it is surprisingly plain on the inside. This is probably due to how they do more than just concerts but it felt like an old school cafeteria in a way, like a school dance. I have been to other venues with character in and out. Once you get in the main hall all the character is gone but its really ok if the event is engaging enough.
Awesome venue for concerts. I think you get a good view no matter where you seat. SHINEE was awesome !
It is an unique! This historical auditorium feels special.
Graduation day! Of course it was memorable, it was my son graduation from USC School of Cinematic Arts!
Another example of beautiful architecture. The acoustics are great! Love how there is a bar in the lobby on each floor. The seats are a bit odd if youre wearing material that grabs onto the upholstery. Theres also zero leg space for anyone 57 and taller - your knees will be up against the seat in front of you (of course, thats not an issue in a high energy show where youll be standing and dancing).
It’s very useful place!! Go and meet 2cellos. :)
Beautiful building. Would love to see a performance here.
Great sound. Both venues are very good
The building is beautiful. Parking was steps away. The Aretha! Grammy Celebration was fantastic.
This is a great music venue! They have non-sketchy event parking and the sound is amazing!! Plenty of space inside
Beautiful theatre. Nice architecture. Visited for the Bethesda Showcase and it felt very British inside. Reminded me of the theatres in the UK because of the cramped seats.
No longer live there. Left for the Army. Saw Steppenwolf, Chambers Brothers, Three Dog Nights, Ten Years After and Mountain in 68. All for $7. What a night
Good concert venue, I would highly recommend VIP upgrades for any concerts you attend at the venue if available. The standing area is decent but it would be ideal to be in an area where you can see more of the stage.
First time at the shrine, was for the sephoria event. Had an awesome time
Been here for two concerts, both have been pretty good. Parking is pricey but is expected. Great for EDM concerts.
First time here and didnt know what to expect. Kinda weird for the show I saw but can see this being a great venue for a rave or something similar.
Awesomeness Iconic Historic
Cool show and nice Location
The Shrine is one of my favorite concert venues in Los Angeles. Its intimate yet can still fit quite a decent amount of people - has solid acoustics - and a decent amount of bars to go off and explore.Do expect a decent security check before you get in but they are fairly quick.Parking-wise, they have parking in front of the venue although I found it better to go around and park nearby (its of course a crazy show getting out).Ive been here now for three concerts (mostly EDM tom my recollection) and loved each and every one. Find yourself whether at the front (come early) or at the back where you can dance your heart out or if you have VIP in the top corners. Always was able to hear the music well and see the artist perform clearly. Each artist seemed to always have a good control of the stage and be able to put up there whatever they wanted to good effect. And the people usually have been pretty good - havent had a terrible people experience yet.Theres multiple bars too so you shouldnt wait too long for a drink. Pricing is what you expect for a concert venue (+$10) so just be aware.
Visited for a concert this past Saturday. Venue appeared to be clean and organized. The only problem I had was when we were waiting in line to enter the lines are formed to the side of the auditorium where the big trash cans are and it makes the waiting a little miserable with the nasty smell thats why i cant give it 5 stars. But other than that the venue was perfect and even the bathrooms were up kept for a sold out venue. There is one other reason why i cant give it 5 stars and thats the security people, i understand how important it is but when the stage is higher than the floor when the security staff are walking around the stage they get in you way when trying to look up and every security guard is in my pictures and thats kinda annoying
$25 parking. Large but intimate venue
Great concert (oh wonder!). Took the expo from the westside and Im so glad I did bc event parking was $20. After the last set, the staff rushes everyone out the door, so dont expect to mill around a chill after.
SHRINE AUDITORIUM LOOKS GREAT. KACEY WAS AMAZING AND GOOD OLD WILLIE IS NEXT!
Loved the venue for Porter Robinson!
Had an amazing time. Staff was great, security was perfect and the show was AWESOME. weve seen Rezz and Tchami and Malaa here. 10/10 cant wait to come back!
Beautiful venue and not too big or small.
Great setting for live music!
A bit sultry when we went for the Hans Zimmer concert. Overall a nice experience.
Came here too see baby girl rezz and although they didnt even let us bring in simple things like gum, Twas a beautiful night, even had a little jam out sesh at the top of the building in the parking lot with other rezzbians 👌
Beautiful site specially on top or the parking better downtown site (I see you 🤠🤫🤭)
I’ve done many events and concerts here. Older venue but they try.
Incredible auditorium, have an amazing time went to Mickey’s 90 birthday 🎂,
Good sound, they had it cool and comfortable which was awesome. Security needed to be more attentive to what was happening with the crowd rushes, but they handed out lots of water which was great. Also one of the speakers cut out for a while, but they fixed it pretty quickly.
This is a very beautiful and famous venue. I was in the loge for a concert and it was a great experience. Entering the building through security was relatively quick and painless. The ushers and rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. Of course expect to pay ransom prices for parking and drinks. There are metered parking on the streets that if you time it right, can save you a lot of money on parking.
Large general admission area. Affordable pricing. Good sound quality. Large stage. A bit cramped
Great venue for the concert/New Years Eve party we attended
Keep The Promise 2017.Hosted by DJ Khalid featuring Neyo and Mariah Carey!Had a ball!
It is such a beautiful building inside and out. If you have the chance to see a performance there I would highly recommend it.
Its a huge venue but its huge and all level so its hard to see the stage if youre not in the first few rows
Visited for an EDM concert. This venue was one of my favorites. I love the layout, and it seems small but can fit actually a surprising amount of people, and it felt spacious, especially when u wanna walk around. Lots of cool bars to grab water or drinks, has cool upper level too. The sound system was really well balanced, they definitely invested in a good sound setut (the bass absolutely hits hard).
Nice architecture. The seating is very narrow so if youre over 250lb you are going to be uncomfortable. The security staff were friendly. parking across the street with 25 bucks. A can of soda was $4. the view from the seats were awesome and the sound system was awesome. Awesome not meaning loud to make you death but very clear and distinct. The stage lighting was the best Ive seen.
This venue seems pretty historical and as a result, they do not allow gum inside which makes sense as it could ruin the dance floor. The feel of this place is eerie which is amazing because you can feel the history of it and possible secret meetings/rituals that took place there in the past. With such a close location to USC, it seems like it would be great for touring artists who arent selling out stadiums/arenas but are selling out clubs. I was here for a band called The Ghost Inside, who played their first show since a fatal tour bus accident in November of 2015, and I think because the show was outside, it really prevented me from giving them 5 stars.
Great sound, spacious venue.
Such a beautiful venue! Acoustics are much better if you stand on the balcony. It doesnt sound as good if youre on the first floor
Dont settle for the 50 dollar parking. Go around back and look for the 20 dollar parking. The sound was phenomenal. First rap concert with lots of bass. You could feel your noise vibrating. Not really any bad standing areas. I was able to see the stage good from where the sound guy setup.
