Had a walk-in with Kenny. Dudes got the skill set to cut hair no matter what type. Helped me out the day before an important interview. Trimmed my beard and hair. Gave me a great recommendation in regards to what he thought would look better than what I had been rocking. I highly recommend you pay this barber shop a visit. Good conversation but better craftsmanship.

Long time customer. The barbers here really care about their craft. Not an assembly line cut like some shops. Expect to be in the chair a good 30m-1hr. Always a full house too, for good reason!

Got a haircut from here and they made my hairline on the side go way back when i say way back he took it back to the past. Honestly I’ve never seen a hairline go SOOOO BACK IN MY LIFE. Then looks at me thinking is all fine. Gone be wearing my hat for a long time. Plus i don’t even think my side hairline going to grow back anymore. Looks like someone around the corner did this. If you truly know how to cut and you see that the hairline is perfect how it is don’t go cutting back into it and make it look sharp cuz in the end it’ll look ugly.

Great, reasonably priced, full service, barbershop; Kenny is the man, should definitely try to make an appointment with him, but everyone there seems to know what theyre doing, and they are all friendly.

Went there just a few minutes ago the door was locked and barber signaled me that they were closed. It was 6:10. The door sign said open and Google said they closed at 7. Why would you put 7 if youre not going to let anyone in 50 minutes before closing time.

I had not had a haircut in over 8 months. A neighbor told me to go to this barbershop and to ask for Elijah. I was looking for a barber that would cut all of my hair off the way I wanted Elijah is very professional he did the exact type of haircut that I wanted and needed there wasnt a lot of conversation in the salon they all were focused on their clients I was very impressed with Elijah and the entire salon. I will be going back.

Terrence and Back to Basics was a great place to get my hair cut. Im about as white as they come but was totally comfortable at this place. Terrence, the owner, is super nice and was even cool about trimming and shortening up my arm hair which was super cool. Not a lot of barbers will go for that. Exceplent service! Fast, friendly, efficient and affordable. Way better, more personalized service than the typical corporate chain operation. I got a great cut in a little over 10 minutes. The owner runs a tidy operation. And they offer hot towel shaves too! Definitely worth a stop.

Both times Ive been here I was able to walk in and get into a chair almost immediately. Good guys who know their job and I got a great straight razor shave on my neck and cheeks (I have a full beard, so no shaving necessary on the rest of my face). Good cuts at a fair price in a location that bursts of old barber shop nostalgia.

This was my first time getting a haircut from here and it definitely wont be my last. Terrence (barber) is pretty laid back and cool. He gave me a nice clean cut. Came home and usually I have to cut or shave something barbers usually miss but this time I didnt. Thanks Terrence!

It was our first visit and I am impressed. I took my 2 year old son along with me when I decided I needed a haircut and beard trim. First, my son sat in my lap and Terrence asked what kind of cut (my son has curly hair), there were no issues, my son did not fuss and Terrence did a great job.When it came to working with me, he asked what I was was looking for and proceeded to cut. He used both clippers and scissors as desired. I was really worried about a beard trim- most barbers can really screw that up. He thinned it out, trimmed it up, evened it out and was very accurate with the lines. He also made sure my eyebrows were just as neat as my beard.I will be back. I am looking forward to a hot towel shave. I had been going to a very expensive mens club barber and found the service at Back to Basics to be just as great, more affordable, more friendly and he will be seeing me again.

Trying to find something different than where weve been going, but just cant find a comfortable place thats consistent quality. The environment and people were good. I was fine w the cuts and communication, my wife wasnt (was my son and my own cut). But I dont like Where shes been taking him. LolIm used to a straight blade shave around all the edges,which I guess I need to ask if thats extra next time.My big gripe (which I think I saw a review before, perked up in my mind), was that they didnt sweep consistently. There were at least 5 customer changes in the time we were there, and after my cut one barber sitting down, and not once the entire time was the hair swept. Not in a personal station or helping one another out. I will give it one more swing, and share w them (hopefully they read it here too), but that will be enough to keep me out no matter the quality of cut.

I have to say this was one of the cleanest barbershops that I have been to. They dont have people hanging around in the barbershop and using profanity. They are very good with kids too! I was skeptical about trying out a new barber until Kenny cut my hair. I had very long, straight hair and a beard that is my pride and joy. So when I came in, I was looking for a huge change. Kenny cut my hair exactly as I described it and trimmed my beard up as well. I walked in looking like a lumberjack, but I came out with a short cut and stubble. I was afraid of the change, but I couldnt be happier about the results. If youre skeptical about your current barber and want to try someone new, look no further. The environment is very friendly and the professional. I wont go to anyone else other than Kenny from now on.

Been twice before was find,ower and other chap cut my hair was $12.00 or so.This time came in and sat down was waiting and reading mag the barber walked by me still waiting sitting down then after 15 minute he asked if I want a haircut.I said I was waiting for a bus.That was fine haircut was okay as I was paying he said it was $15 the owner looked odd at him.Gave $5.00 tip as I was paying he started talking to other customer which seemed rude as I justtip $7.00 on his phone in his hand a 12 haircut and no goodbye or have a nice weekend just talking to person in chair already..Barber was Elijah sure he is nice but assuming a working man wont tip is presumptuous on his part and maybe the reason for my wait with him having an open chair..wont come back again.

Kenny and all the guys are awesome. Reminds me of going to the barber shop with my dad 30 years ago in hood, where all the brothers and cool old black guys shared great jokes and deep conversations. Where young black men could learn the right things about family, community and positive african american values.

Walked in with no appointment and Maurice offered to cut my son’s hair. A one on top and skin fade. We were in and out in 30 minutes, he did a fanstastic job! My son was very happy 😃
