Great environment, great people, provides a great community. I trained here for years and it was a great environment and I had great instructors throughout my time there. The whole staff and everyone there create a great community and form relationships with everyone there to make everyone feel good and have a good experience. Great classes that provide a lot of great information not just martial arts but about fitness and being the best person you can be. I highly recommend this phenomenal facility and it’s instructors.
My son has been attending martial arts classes at Sky Center, and it has been a fantastic positive outlet for him. He has had trouble sticking with many other sports activities and would complain, but he always is happy to go to karate class. I have found him going out of his way to ask the staff to do more than he is asked, and he really wants to achieve rank advancement, which is not his nature! Sensei Chris is amazing with the kids, making them each feel special and cool. And the kids really respect Sensei Mike. All the instructors convey positive life lessons and attitudes. The place is fun, and highly recommended.
My son started at Sky Centers 4 years ago because we had a one month trail. He was hooked right away! The instructors are absolutely wonderful! They are so positive, encouraging, and respectful to each and every student. The growth I have seen in my son is unbelievable. He has gained self confidence and leadership skills that have helped him excel in school.
My son started at Sky Centers at 4 years old. He is a high energy boy and we wanted him to gain a greater ability to focus and persevere. He is now 9 and training to test for his black belt. He has such a solid sense of self and understands hard work and commitment. He has made friends and loves coming to class. We are so grateful for Sky Centers. They have a fun, caring staff who clearly loves their work. Thank you!
Sky Centers offers a welcoming environment for martial artists at all levels of skill and ability. The staff takes a genuine interest in their students and encourages physical development as well as mental wellness through positive reinforcement and building of self confidence. Sky Centers has become a second home for our son, who has benefited (and will continue to benefit for years to come) from lessons in leadership as well as the importance of respecting both yourself and your community. They also run an amazing anti-bullying local outreach program that many schools and organizations have been able to offer. Highly recommend!
When my 9 year old was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes we noticed he started to bottle up his anger and frustration. We went into Sky Center to trial a class and my son loved it! It gave him a way to project his emotions in a healthy and positive way.Four years later and we are still happy to be a part of this community.I would highly recommend Sky Center to anyone looking to find that sort of healthy outlet for their child.
Sky Center is an amazing place. My kids have attended classes for the last 2 years and it has been nothing but an amazing experience. The development in there confidence, discipline and athleticism has been directly contributed back to Sky Centers. Five stars aren’t enough to say how happy we are with Sky Centers. Don’t hesitate to attend a class and check out for yourselves.
My Daughter absolutely loves going to karate. We love the group setting and personal attention when needed. I will continue to recommend this place! Looking forward to see her advance more.
Sky Centers is an excellent place to learn martial arts. The staff is experienced in many forms of martial arts and fitness. They have experience working with students of all ages and different abilities. Kids and adults learn in a fun and empowering atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to everyone.
I have been a proud parent of Sky Centers Martial Arts for a few years now. My son is currently working towards earning his black belt. I am so thankful to the instructors for being such outstanding individuals in every way possible. This school always steps up to the plate and knocks the ball out of the park with any challenges that may arise. Kids do not just train here they become better people in life. Thank you for everything you do.
We love Sky Centers! My son has been going there for about 3 months now. He loves it. They are very professional, great with communication, and always pleasant to talk to. They’ve helped my son focus and set goals for himself. He loves going to karate because of Sensei Chris and Sensei Mike. They make it fun and help each student at the same time.
Both of my sons have been members at Sky Centers for about 5 years now. The Sky Centers program has not only taught my sons amazing martial arts skills. They also teach respect, dedication, leadership skills and how to be self confident. I recommend Sky Centers for any child or adult who wants to be part of a really positve and character building program.
I highly recommend Sky Centers Martial Arts. Our 12 year old son has been going there for 3 years and loves it. He is special needs, Autism, and they have been incredible working with him and doing whatever is needed to help him succeed. He HATES exercise so martial arts ends up being 90% or more of his phsyical activity for a week. It is great for helping working on his coordination, focus, strength and behavior as well. The past year has been a challenge with Covid, but Sky Centers stepped up big time with Zoom classes. This was so needed the past year, especially so for more vulnerable special needs children.
Sky Centers has been amazing for my son! The Senseis are very knowledgable and excellent teachers! All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. He looks forward to going every day. They have also done a tremendous job with continued safety protocols throughout the past year. They did a great job with zoom classes when we were unable to attend in person. I would highly recommend Sky Centers if you are thinking of starting martial arts!
Sky Centers is a great place to learn about discipline, focus and making and achieving personal goals both physically and mentally. My child has been training with the incredible Sensei there for over three years and we can really see growth in so many ways. It’s amazing how the Sensei can keep so many kids, and adults, focused, active and engaged while challenging their mind and body. They demonstrate that a strong work ethic and positive attitude can help you overcome any obstacle. They are an asset to Lombard and we are so lucky to have them in our community.
We love Sky Centers Martial Arts. My family and I have been involved with this martial arts school for over 5 years now. The instructors are highly skilled at working with young people as well as adults. My children have grown up at Sky Centers and have developed confidence, discipline and focus along with having fun and making friends. As for my journey, I am getting into the best shape since before kids and have met some of the best people who are not just friends- they have become family. Sky Centers is a family oriented business that excels at bringing out the best in people. I have never regretted the decision to enroll myself and my two boys in their training program. I highly recommend Sky Centers Martial Arts to all.
Our 4 year old has been with Sky Centers for the last year and he LOVES it! We have noticed such an improvement on his focus and listening skills. Not only is it great exercise, its helping with coordination as well. The classes are fun, senseis are energetic and genuinely care about their students. 5 stars!
Sky Centers has been a fantastic growth and learning experience for our kids, both mentally and physically. The Sky Centers team is top notch in every way, displaying a patient hands-on teaching/training approach for all skill levels that our kids have fun with. They’re great with motivating, staying positive, upbeat and helping our kids reach their goals. Sky Centers also adapted and seamlessly transitioned to a virtual learning environment when necessary to accommodate for safety. Our kids are grateful to now be back learning with live in-person classes and Sky Centers is taking all the necessary precautions to make sure students and staff are safe and healthy. Thanks Sky Centers for caring so much about our kids and community!
I would like to talk a bit about Sky Centers Martial Arts in Lombard. It is a #1 school for both children and adults and is the most professional that I can imagine. Our family has been a part of the Sky family for almost 3 years now. Our grandson loves his karate classes and his instructors. He does have a few special favorites but we will leave that there. They recognized right away that he is a visual learner and always make a huge effort to include visual ques to any auditory instruction given in class. Classes are kept small in order to make it possible to give our students this level of individual attention and care. When Covid 19 hit us, accommodations were made via Zoom to be sure students we able to keep up their skills with special attention paid to making and keeping it fun for students who might struggle with this new form of instruction. As you can see, I cannot say enough about this wonderful school and it’s staff. I hope anyone who may be interested in martial arts will definitely look at Sky Centers. You will not be disappointed I assure you. Thanks again to Master Sky and to all our instructors. You are all awesome!!
My son started at Sky Centers close to 2 years ago. It has been an incredibly positive experience for him/us. I have seen a definite improvement in behavior since he started, and he truly enjoys going to class. When Covid hit, we were trying to find safe/positive activities for our daughter. We were so impressed with the thought and effort Sky Centers put in to running class safely (with options on Zoom as well) that we decided to enroll her as well. She loves the classes just as much, if not more, than our son.A couple months ago it became clear to me that I would also benefit from more physical activity, so I joined classes. I am definitely not an athletic individual, but I have seen improvement for me as well, both physically and mentally. I love that I can show my kids that it’s ok to not be the best at something, but we can continue to work hard and improve.Sensei Mike & Sensei Chris are amazing at running the classes. It’s almost magical the way they can make it work for everyone. I also love the option of adult only classes for days where I just might want to spend some time without the kids.I am grateful for the encouragement and support from all the Sensei’s and leaders at Sky Centers. It truly feels like family.
Sky Centers is an amazing place to train at, not only for martial arts but for self-confidence and discipline as well. My son started training summer of 2018 and it has helped him tremendously with learning focus and self-control. I started training summer of 2019 and it is a wonderful way to get exercise and stress relief. The entire staff are completely awesome. Its a great family to be apart of.
We love Sky Centers Martial Arts! All the staff are very experienced and patient with all the students. Master Sky is the best in the business. He is always extremely professional and takes great pride in making everyone feel as if they are family. They have one of the best programs I have ever seen.
Sky Centers is such a wonderful, positive place. We have been attending classes for over 3 years, and they still surprise me. They truly care about each child and their progress. And during the pandemic, Im not sure where else we could have gotten an outlet for our 7yr olds energy. We are so happy with the instruction and the positive outlook that our son is receiving. Cant say more positive things about this dojo.I thank them everyday!
Fantastic place for adults, families, and individuals.Sky Centers is community orientated and while each martial artist has their own journey, Sky Centers focuses on collaboration and building each other up.I strongly recommend trying their frequent open houses or bring a friend weeks to try out classes. See if the positive atmosphere is for you or not. There is a decent variety in their offerings as well. You can study martial arts, take fitness classes, and (for the kids) attend spring/summer break camps. For adults, there are adults only classes available, and there are open classes that anyone can attend. The staff and community at Sky Centers is truly something special.
Great motivating group of teachers that are professional, kind and truly love what they do. Highly recommend.
We LOVE Sky Centers! We are always treated like family and the senseis ROCK! They are truly professionals at what they do. Sensei Mike and sensei Chris are amazing with kids and are always a lot of fun during class. William has really come a long way both physically and mentally since his first day, and he is only getting better. I highly recommend Sky Centers if your kids or you are curious about learning Martial Arts. This is the place you want to go!
My son had been wanting to try Karate for a while and we couldnt find a place that would work out with my schedule. We were referred to Sky Centers by a friend and tried it out. He LOVES it here! From the positive atmosphere to all of the staff he cant get enough of it! Hes been going here for quite a few months now and I can already see improvements in his attitude and confidence! Awesome place for kids and adults!
Sky Centers Martial Arts has had such an amazing impact on our family. Our son has been actively participating since there since he was 3 years old, and turned 9 this past June. Their compassion, understanding and ability to cultivate a positive and constructive environment has been so instrumental to his positive growth as a child with ADHD and anxiety disorders. Master Sky has set an amazing environment and Sensei Mike and the rest of the staff execute it with so much attention and care. Additionally, all the extra time and effort Sensei Chris has personally taken with our son had been mind blowing and words can’t express our gratitude. We are and forever will be so appreciative of the program and effort put in by the entire staff, and highly recommend their dojo and program. You won’t be disappointed.
I am not one to leave a review, good or bad. However, Sky Centers has been above and beyond, and for that, I have to comment. Not only have they made it work despite the pandemic, but they have done it with a positive attitude. They are always ‘working the problem’, and it is a wonderful example for the kids and the adults to see.Sensei Mike and Sensei Chris bring all the energy you could ever want. They also push you to do things you never thought you could (or would want to) do. But they do it in a way that is encouraging. Sensei Dominic, Sensei Krista and Sensei Emma work in concert with them to keep things running smoothly. And then there is the community that is so supportive which is a testament to the culture that is fostered by Master Sky.It can be expensive, but for me and my son, the investment is worth it. Regardless of your child’s age (or your age!), you should give it a try. I am so glad I did.
A few years ago, I left a review on Facebook about the excellent experiences my kids and I were having at Sky Centers. Today, I echo those comments, because Sky Centers keeps raising the bar. The instructors are knowledgable and engaging for all levels of instruction, from pre-school aged kids through adults, the curriculum is well-rounded, there are plenty of opportunities to get personal attention, and perhaps above all, Sky Centers is a community. They make safety a priority, and theres something there for everyones ability level. I didnt grow up taking or really even understanding martial arts, so I was initially reluctant to start training when my oldest two children started. After seeing the format of the classes and the expertise of the instructors, I jumped in. 3+ years later, my wife and another child have started the program, and its proven to be a great decision for our family. If I could give more stars, I would. If youre looking for a place that promotes character development, teaches self-defense, and provides opportunities to improve your fitness level, this is it.
I have been trying to find something my daughter would enjoy doing. She went to Sky Centers for a buddy week and fell in love with it. It will be 2 years in November. She is in Masters Club. My son was hesitant of being in front of everyone and kept saying he is not going to join. Well he joined in August and loves it. He is now in black belt club. They both enjoy the weapons also. The Sensei’s there are the best. They help each and every child if they are struggling. My kids love going to class. I have noticed they are not as shy and uncomfortable as they were. Sky Centers is definitely our second family.
It’s a fantastic and dedicated team that brings up the community by mentoring, molding our future leaders!
I signed my 8 year up for classes after both my boys took a 2 week lesson through our schools pta. He struggles with focus and control, but has improved tremendously in all areas after starting at sky centers! My husband loved seeing his improvements and even enjoyed the classes via zoom during the pandemic this year. He decided he wanted to sign up, so we all did! My husband, myself and our youngest son all joined my 8 year old at sky centers! We all enjoy the classes and the instructors are amazing! Especially with my struggling oldest!
Our preschool classes attended a field trip at Sky Centers Martial Arts. All the adults that attended were more than impressed with how well Master Sky and his assistants were able to connect with each child. They kept the group engaged, which is not always easy to do with a large group of preschoolers. They were patient and encouraging with all of the children. They are awesome!!
They create a family atmosphere with everyone interested in helping the student succeed. They also help the students to learn life lessons about honesty, friendship, respect and self-confidence among other things. They are well worth taking a look at!
Our family has come such a long way with Sky Centers. We have been going to Sky Centers for almost 4 years now and I have to admit I was a bit skeptical with what it can really do for a young child let alone an adult. But now after a few years, I have see my daughter transform from being a completely shy child to a confident, responsible and stronger young girl. Not only are the teachers AMAZING but Sky Centers is like family.Sky Centers is not just about martial arts. Sky Centers teaches each student about self-defense, discipline, respect, not to bully, being a good leader, being a good role model, being kind to one another and so much more.Sky Centers focuses on building good character in every student that walks in the door. I have seen the transformation in our daughter from being just a quiet kid to now making smarter decisions and wanting to be a good role model to her friends and her siblings.I would recommend Sky Centers Martial Arts to anyone that is interested in building a good character in their child and/or improving as an adult.
My grandson has been attending Sky Center for the last two years. He started when he was 3 years old. His focus, attention, strength, skill, and overall respect is a direct result of his classes at Sky Center. Sensei Mike and Sensei Chris instruct him as if he is the only student in the room. He has made such a positive connection with them and they get his very best in class! They make learning fun and he is so proud of the next level belt that he is working towards. The center continued with Zoom classes during the pandemic. When possible, they were amazing in creating an outdoor space according the the CDC guidelines so that students could continue in-person learning. They have been positive, accommodating, supporting and created an opportunity for him to continue having fun learning! I would highly recommend Sky Center!
This is the place where my kids go not only to learn about martial arts but also to handle lifes tough challenges and be passionate. My kids have been going there since 2015 but about 3 years ago I ran into some health issues and sky centers not only helped me physically but also mentally, I had martial arts training when I was a kid but I needed the reminder in my adult life that life challenges can and will be handled. Thank you sky centers team.
My son has been attending Sky Center for a couple years now. It is his second home/family. We take classes and do private lessons. It has done wonders for his confidence and attention. Through the pandemic they have gone above and beyond to keep our kids safe.
My son has been enrolled in Sky Centers since he was 3.5 (now 6). As a result, weve had the opportunity to experience 3 of the programs run by Sky Centers -Little Dragons, Little Ninjas, and now Black Belt Club. We have been so pleased with our experience in each program. First and foremost, you wont find better instructors anywhere else. They are wonderful in every way possible, and skilled at working with both kids and adults at all levels of training. I love that they push students to do their best and grow, but they do so in a positive, encouraging manner. The atmosphere of the dojo is incredibly positive and family friendly. Weve made some wonderful friends along the way because everyone is so welcoming. Their staff is amazing - everyone is helpful and well organized. In addition to awesome classes, Sky Centers offers tons of awesome events, camps, parent nights out, and workshops. Weve always been very impressed with the quality of these extra offerings.
My family joined this martial arts school back in 2014, on a whim, as an attempt to find something for my children to do (at the time they were 6 and 3). I figured we could try it for a few months and see if it held their interest.Over 6 years later, were still there. My children have grown into amazing young people in large part due to Sky Centers. Theyre determined, loyal, focused, and know that theyre strong enough to tackle any obstacle life may throw at them, whether its in school, athletics or their personal lives. The lessons of responsibility and perseverance theyve received from their Senseis is beyond anything I could have hoped for when we enrolled. My daughter earned her junior first degree black belt and my son should earn his this coming April, 2021. Both want to continue lessons forever. Both are strong in mind, body and spirit, in large part thanks to the lessons theyve learned at Sky.I started classes as an adult a year after my children did, despite being out of shape and pretty darn uncomfortable getting myself out on the mat. Thanks to the welcoming environment, the professionalism of the staff, and the camaraderie among the students, I was able to push past my own limits, and earned a first degree black belt. The 2 head instructors are simply fantastic people, dedicated wholeheartedly to their students and to martial arts. They command respect by giving respect and by treating everyone as if they matter. Theyre amazing role models for their students of all ages. I couldnt be luckier to have them as our teachers.Even before pandemic times, the facility was always clean and professional... but now with the chaos of 2020 and 2021, theyve managed to outdo themselves here. Its one of the few places I feel confident bringing my children to these days because I know theyre going above and beyond the state requirements for everything. Theyre also balancing the physical and emotional health of their students in every decision they make, and its invaluable in these uncertain times to have a bit of normal preserved.Do yourself a favor and check them out.
Sky Centers has been amazing for our son. They build confidence and encourage their students. We love our Sky Centers family.
From the inter-school tournaments, to the one on one help, to the awesome staff, Sky Centers Rocks! Were happy to be a part of them.
When youre here, youre with family. Not just exercise and physical skills, but even life skills by a team and community that care about you. Well worth a visit.
Sky Centers is an amazing family! The instructors are top notch and amazing! They are so supportive of all their students and families!
Sky Centers is a great place. I have learned a lot in the time I have been there. It feels like a family.
My son has been in Occupational and Physical Therapy since he was 1 years old for difficulties with coordination and motor planning. He is currently nine years old. We found Sky Centers Martial Arts a little over two years ago. Signing him up with Sky Centers was one of the best things we could have done for our son. The instructors know my sons strengths and weaknesses. As they focus on his strengths in class they also assist him with his weaknesses, all as my son is having fun learning the art of martial arts. There are activities that my son is not comfortable in participating in such as playing basketball or baseball, but through the guidance and support of the instructors and staff at Sky Centers Martial Arts my son is four belts away from a black belt, which is his goal.
I have been a member of Sky Centers Martial Arts since 2008. This is family friendly dojo that focuses on the mental, physical, and spiritual well being and growth for all. Not just the members but the community Sky Centers serves as well. Master George Sky is an amazing human being, mentor and friend. His wife Sensei Krista is wonderful, as are Sensei Mike, Sensei Chris, and Sensei Dom. There is no other place to train, grow, unwind and just generally connect with such great people anywhere on the planet. Please, go check them out, you won’t regret it, I promise.
Sky Centers is not just an after school place for your kid to take another class or another sport that they will want to quit in a month. Sky Centers is more of a lifestyle. When my son joined over 3 years ago Sky Centers became a second home to our family. Sky Centers Martial Arts is focused on mental as well as physical well being. They promote family and community unlike any other place around. Master Sky is the head of the dojo and he is always taking things to the next level. Nothing is stagnant and the growth of each student is always at the forefront of his mind. My son looks up to and admires Sensei Chris, Sensei Mike & Master Sky so much too! And I could not be more happy that my son looks up to these amazing leaders. They are truly outstanding role models to all of their students! We were so lucky to have found this place over 3 years ago. These guys do not just teach a class every other day, they train students in all areas of life so that they can grow into physically fit, strong, focused, kind, leaders in their community. The message of many of their teachings focus on anti-bullying, self-confidence, focus, self-defense, leadership, and of coarse physical strength and fitness among many other areas. Your student will always have a safe place to hangout with their friends and there are always opportunities to get involved at Sky Centers! They hold so many events for their students and families throughout the year (most of which are free and just simply a way to celebrate the students because they want to give back). Aside from classes, there are themed parents night out events (e.g., nerf night, superhero night, radioactive dodgeball, starwars, & more), competitions, soak the senseis, the family barbeque & pool party, back to school bash, Mothers Day & Fathers Day workouts, and so many more. I cannot possibly thank the Sky Centers Crew enough for everything they have done for my family! To the Sky Centers Crew, 1, 2, 3...YOU ROCK!
We signed our daughter up for the trial class because of a bully on our block. I cannot stress enough how much Sky Centers has helped her self-confidence. They have given her the tools to defend herself if she needed to, but they have also given her the tools to think things through and work out problems with martial arts as a last resort. It is also very impressive how the staff manages to focus on each student regardless of how many are in a class. Individualized attention is hard to get in a group setting - the Senseis and students in the Leadership Program touch on every student.Sky Centers is also in the business of building people up and not putting them down. Even when a difficult child is disrupting a class, it is handled in a tactful - non-shaming way. The positivity is contagious, and everyone is encouraged to be a leader and a helper.
We have been part of Sky Centers Martial Arts family for the past 4 years and can honestly say that its the best thing that happened to our son. Not only does he love martial arts but everything else martial arts entails. We were especially impressed with character development as part of daily classes, and leadership courses that helped our son grow into a confident, and responsible young man. Master Sky, Sensei Mike, and Sensei Chris are excellent role models for all children and help everyone face their challenges in a well structured matter. All other staff is also very professional and fun!
Our son attends Sky Centers and he loves it there. He learns discipline, focus, and life skills. Its a community and we are happy we are a part of it!
My daughter (9 years old) has been enrolled at Sky Centers for 3.5 years. She is in the final stages of training to earn her black belt. Before she joined, I knew nothing about martial arts and I really had no desire to learn. Her journey began in 1st grade when Sensei Mike was welcomed into her classroom to teach a short lesson on self defense. She came home from school that day and begged to attend a class. I was skeptical because I didn’t think it was much more than fighting. Boy was I wrong!During that initial visit, I witnessed her learn how to stand up for herself if she is ever being bullied and how to project her voice whenever necessary. Needless to say, I was hooked! The time she has spent at the dojo has been nothing short of amazing. I have watched her gain so much confidence. Her focus has improved and her determination is through the roof. She does not ever quit...she only succeeds. Anti-bully is a huge focus at the dojo and it is so beneficial for any age. Sensei Mike and Sensei Chris are two of the best teachers I have ever seen. I can guarantee these men will be two of those teachers that she will never forget throughout her entire life. While self defense and fighting are obviously a large part of martial arts, the additional components are some of the most important life skills you will ever learn. Each and every week Sensei Mike writes a quote on the mirror. Towards the end of class everyone gathers around to discuss the meaning of the quote. The quotes have something to do with a larger monthly topic of discussion such as respect, gratitude, determination, etc. This weekly chat is my most favorite part of class. I love hearing how the students perceive the quotes and watching them think and grow as they learn how to become stronger, more confident individuals. If you are on the fence about trying martial arts for yourself or your child, all I can say is give it a shot. I plan on earning my black belt one day as well. They have classes beginning at age 3 or 4 and they go all the way up to adult. Every fitness level is welcome and encouraged. It is a very comfortable and non-judgemental atmosphere. It is my favorite extracurricular activity...and my daughter has done just about everything!
Best Martial Arts School in the area! Master Sky is a great instructor and the atmosphere is friendly and not intimidating at all. Great programs for both kids and adults, and great people
Sky Centers Martial Arts offers an outstanding program. As a parent of 2 youth members, we have been members for nearly 3 years and we have consistently experienced excellence! Sensei Mike and Sensei Chris have been superior instructors and we are grateful we chose Sky Centers for our kids.
I’m a green belt here and have loved the training sessions so far!
