In a housing market set up for people with steady income... and lots of it... I really appreciated the staffs flexibility in helping us get the required documents and meet all the income stipulations. They could have given the apartment to someone else who could get all the paperwork done in an instant, but they took the time to work with us!
Don’t say that the reviews didn’t warn you. This place will nickel and dime every cent they can out of you, and then some. What they neglect to tell you is that they’re going to charge you an extra $100-150 fees every month for “community usage” of common areas, and an “administrative fee” which is normally $5/mo (just to add it on, it does nothing for you other than put money in someone else’s pocket. Then they’ll charge you $20 for the final admin fee.)Don’t be fooled when they say the monthly payment includes electric and gas - those are communal and you will have to set up your own electric and gas account for your unit. You’re forced to use Xcel which doubled their rates in the summer. The “non renovated” (original builds now being rented for triple what it was when built. I paid 1280/mo they rented the exact same one for 1665/mo I feel bad for whoever rented that one!) Those apartments are terrible for climate control. You’re going to run the heat heavy in the winter and the air will stay running constantly in the summer to keep it even set 78 degrees while having uneven air temperatures throughout. The office has constant turnover of employees. Odds are whoever signs you up, won’t be there a few months later. My neighbor constantly left used baby diapers on the porch. Multiple cars were stolen out of the parking lot, even though they have a joke of a security guard. I even watched multiple times as security guards went around and booted peoples cars who lived in the complex. The dumpsters and recycle were always full and dropping trash everywhere. Homeless people cut through the parking lot and steal things from people’s cars and patios. But the most annoying thing is they will want access to your apartment all the time. They were in my apartment three times in less than three months. Each time was claimed to be an “annual inspection” I was there for two and watched the third on camera. They will nose around through your stuff. They’ll take pictures of your apartment while they’re “inspecting” even though the pictures they’re taking have nothing to do with the upkeep of the apartment.DO NOT MOVE HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT.
Renter beware...I have lived here for 9 years and this complex has been through 7 to 8 management changes. The current management is offering hard wood floors on the 2nd and 3rd level apartments...which means you can hear your neighbors upstairs stomping around at all times. You can hear when the dog drops a toy/bone. Their schedule becomes your schedule. Because they will wake you up in the morning with the stomping and keep you awake until they go to bed. This management will not take responsibilty for any issues that effect your quality of life here.Air conditioning units are not maintained. So, my bill jumped from $137 to $257 because the air conditioning unit was so clogged up. The management said they are not responsible to clean those units out.Renter beware
These apartments were beautiful but the layout we wanted wasn’t available. They do have renovated and non renovated units so ask and make sure you get the one you want. Overall I wish the layout I wanted was available because THEY WERE AMAZING! The whole office staff was wonderful and kind. Brianna emailed me almost immediately and made sure the move in process was easy. These women put in that work! Due to not having the renovated vail layout we chose to cancel our lease. Something Robin did to help me due to lack of communication on both ends. She offered to also show me different layouts and make that transition as smoothly as possible. I have NEVER dealt with such awesome staff. If it wasn’t for my timeline I would have stayed. Thank you guys!
I had the opportunity of taking a tour here at Griffis. Aubrey Johnston showed me around the complex. She was super professional and made the experience great! If you are looking around for apartments and need someone to tour you around at this complex ask for Aubrey!
Griffis marston lake is by far the best apartment complex Ive ever lived in. The office staff always answer the phone, and validate your concerns. The maintenance staff is top notch. Fast efficient always friendly and they clean up messes left by others. The property is located in a convenient area. They keep up with property very well. They only reason they didnt get 5 stars is because of the valet trash situation. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings
Brianna McGrew was very professional over the phone when I needed detailed information on an apartment. I’ve experienced an outstanding experience. It’s difficult to find people with personality and whom are informative... but Brianna was a pleasure and mastered both. Apartment complex is beautiful and is in a great area! Highly recommend.
Great apartment complex! management gets things fixed in a very efficient way and are very responsive. Brianna showed me around to multiple different apartments and made my move very enjoyable!
Ive had a great experience living at Griffis Marston Lake! The staff is so helpful, communicative, and personable - Brianna especially is great at remembering faces, names, and making people feel welcome. The amenities are beautiful and accessible and the complex as a whole is so nice!
Brianna helped my fiancé and I find the perfect apartment! It even has a small yard for our dog. We have loved living here so far!
I wished I could give the staff, maintenance and the apartment complex as a whole a few more stars. We move in just as the whole pandemic hit, so to say it was a trying time is an understatement. The office staff was excellent, as they were trying to learn what to do during the pandemic, they still helped us out way above and beyond. We had sold out house of 28 years and had to rent for a short period before we moved out of state, so to say we were needy was not doing justice to the word.Donya was very kind and always answered our questions quickly. Once we moved in, we had little problems here and there and the maintenance guys were always quick to get problems solved.Delphia and Robin were always quick to help us out when needed, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been weaving the way through keeping the complex running during this year but they managed to get it done.CON: The only bad thing I have to say is the charge for Valet trash pick up...30+ dollars is an overcharge to the residents. I know how much trash we generated and maybe one bag every two to three days doesnt justify that type of charge. The complex placed big trash dumpster within walking distance of every building, numerous times I had to walk my trash to the dumpster so I knew where they were. i can imagine over time that charge would add up on the residents.I know the office staff has nothing to do with the trash charge but the complex ownership needs to know that charge is beyond ridiculous.Otherwise it was a pleasure renting at this complex.
I will start by saying that I was not able to find the apartment here that I needed. The price was just outside of my budget. This was NOT the fault of the business so there is not fault in their pricing. The apartments are reasonably priced for the area. Its the people in the office and the care they took in helping me and offering to do their best helping me considering my needs and budget. You could not ask for nicer people. They will treat you with respect and do their best to find you what you need and when you need it. I highly recommend giving these guys a try!Thank you so much for your help LeeAnn. You did great!
Next month will be a year that i have bee at Marston Lakes And i would like to give aa Shout Out !To the [ LADIES] that work in the office Very Professional and they go out of their way to help You LEEANN, DELPHIA, AND ROBIN They all help me with my lease to sign in i can not say Enough about these LADIES always willing to help out A BIG THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOU DO ..not only for me BUT FOR EVERYONE THAT LIVES HERE THANKS AGAIN LADIES
Ive been here for 7 years, through several different management companies and I have to say that Griffis Residential is the best by far. They have been super responsive in general, and the way theyve handled the COVID situation has been great. They really have gone above and beyond, suspending late fees month after month and being very understanding about late rent. Theyre the best!
My boyfriend and I have been living at Griffis at Marston lake for over two years now and we love it! The staff is incredible and maintenance is extremely responsive. Robin has been super helpful with all our leasing questions. The apartments are also pet friendly which is a big plus! I highly recommended renting here!
I LOVE living here! I have never had such prompt service and responses from staff. It is so clean everywhere because there are employees doing yard and ground maintenance like EVERY day. The package service is awesome. Cats and dogs are both welcome and I have NEVER heard any barking or noise of any kind from any other tenants while Im in the apartment. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet and clean place to live.
My boyfriend and I have lived here for 5 months now and couldnt be happier. Before finding Griffis Marston Lake Apartments, we had experienced an awful leasing issue with another apartment complex that left us rushing to find a place. We were driving around and calling all over when we finally called Griffis Marston Lake and spoke to Robin, the manager. She is amazing. Robin made the process of leasing a breeze. It was a Friday afternoon at that, with the limitations of COVID. She was still able to help us and got all the paperwork together in such a short period. After moving in, we have had the pleasure of speaking/ working with the staff here. I can honestly say we have such a great, supportive, and responsive community.
The staff at Griffis Marston Lake are kind and understanding and very accommodating. My husband and I had a very complicated situation with a double move--from a house to an apartment to another house--and there were numerous changes in move-in dates, move-out dates, and consequently, which apartment we would rent. The staff made all of this stress so much easier to handle with their caring attitude and flexibility. One piece of advice: Look carefully when you move in, and document any damage or stains present. You never know what surprises other renters may have left behind. We found out after our move out that there was a stain on the underside of the carpet. We didnt think to look there, but the staff did, and we were held responsible. However, after discussing it with the assistant manager, she was willing to remove the charge for the damage and I appreciated that greatly; they are willing to listen if you give them a chance. Take photos of the floors, inside the cabinets, and any other areas you notice stains or damage, then share them with the staff. They are very reasonable, but things need to be documented upon move in.
Not a terrible complex. Management has been good and the rates are decent
I love living here. Great staff all around. The office folks have always treated us fair. Thats huge because I push limits as much as the next guy, yet they have never been anything but accommodating to me. The maintenance team works overtime and really thats what earned this good review. Those guys always do a good job for me and I honestly dont mind having them in my home doing work as they are super personable. There have been some bumps in the road but all and all this is the best apartment complex Ive lived in. They take excellent care of the grounds and pool and offer a ton more that really makes them stand out from other places nearby. I would highly recommend looking into this property.
Griffis Marston Lake was able to provide us a perfect short term living situation between a home sale and purchase. We have a md-sized dog and needed to accommodate the dog while being flexible with our situation. Griffis Marston Lake were thorough, professional, very communicative and are making our transition considerably more pleasant.
We love Griffis Marston Lake Apts!!!After over 3 1/2 years, I can honestly say, my experience at GML has been nothing but awesome! Professional leasing office staff, responsive and reliable maintenance crew, clean complex, great amenities, pet friendly, safe grounds, etc.Robin and her staff are awesome! Everyone at Griffis Marston Lake Apts help to create and maintain a pleasant environment for each resident in their exceptional apartment homes!
Paper thin walls and ceilings to better hear your stomping and bickering neighbors with.
I have been a resident of this complex since September 2010. I have been through 3 or 4 changes in ownership; changes in management and various ups and downs throughout the year. Hands down, the current owners and management/maintenance staff are the best of the best. Every single issue or problem that I have had has been addressed. Even through my anger sometimes, the staff treated me with respect. That being said, I LOVE my apartment layout, my garage, storage unit and my brand new little fenced in yard off of my patio. My little dog is 10 yrs old and has never had her own little yard to play in. The construction was flawless and quick. When I moved into this apartment in 2010 I got a great rental price because it was the original flooring, etc. and was not updated. There have been a couple of more updates that I missed out on so when my lease expires I would like to move to a different apartment (same floor plan on the 1st floor) within the complex. I love having my private garage steps from my front door and yes I pay additional for that, but its worth it. My storage unit is directly outside of my unit as well. Finally I ADORE my closet! I could live in my closet its so large. Are there issues that I dont like; yes, but they pale in comparison to what I do like. The lack of soundproofing is the biggest complaint that I have. The walls are thin. Again, something that I have learned to live with. Having been here so long, the apartments above me and beside have changed residents many many times. Would I recommend Griffis Marston Lake? Yes. I would 100%.
From the Office Manager(s) to the Leasing Staff as well as the Maintenance and Grounds Crew everyone here at Griffis Marston Lake Apartment Homes goes above & beyond to assist us both quickly & efficiently; whilst being friendly & professional. So thankful to have selected this community to call home; it can be nervous when relocating however the units & staff have not disappointed us.A shout out to Leanne & Delphia thank you for all that you do!
We are moving from Florida to Colorado, so as you can imagine, we are beyond stressed! Finding a new apartment can definitely add to that stress. After doing some research on apartments in the area, I came across Griffis Marston Lake apartments. LeeAnn helped so much with this process! She was so friendly and patient with me as I had quite a few questions. She honestly answered a majority of them without me having to ask which was so nice. I called other apartment complexes and I did not get that reassurance I needed that told me I was choosing the right place to live. So far so good with our experience.
I have lived here for a few months now. From my experience this place is top notch. Ive never had a concern gone unaddressed and they have held their word to the fullest. I can walk in anytime, Donya and Robin and the rest of the staff are awesome. Every last one of them even the guy who gives out the boots is pleasant. The pool is great, the coffee is always fresh and how I like it and I am always greeted with a smile! Best rental experience so far!
My partner and I have been here for over a year now. We truly enjoy our life here. Our apartment and the grounds are beautiful. We have a great view of the foothills from our balcony. There’s close / easy access to major roads, but we’re nestled back enough to stay away from the noise. The staff had always been attentive to our needs at every turn and bump in the road. They are genuinely nice and very helpful. We recently had our AC break at night during a heatwave and someone was at our place within 30 minutes to fix it. I couldn’t recommend this community more!
The staff at Griffis Marston Lake has been great to work with. We moved from out of state and they were very accomadating and made the transition as easy as possible. The facilities have been renovated, at least our unit has been and they are very nice and cozy. I say this because we downsized from 1750 sq. ft. to a little less than a 1000. The price, for the amenities this place has are reasonable, especially for pet owners with the pet wash stations as well as the dog park and walking trails all around.
Im not sure why everyone is so upset with this place. Ive been here for a month and so far, I love it. Its quiet, located next to so many amazing shops and restaurants (and Southwest Plaza!!), and the apartments are very nice! I havent had any issues making payments with rent on the online resident portal, the overall use of the website is easy to navigate and super easy to make payments with. Im glad theyve set that up, its definitely convenient for busy people. Im excited to see what else is in store, like the new clubhouse, the soon to be year round pool, etc. Ive never encountered a mean person in the office, everyone is so nice and they know most residents by name, which adds a lovely personal touch. I highly recommend this place!
I have lived here for a little over 3 years and enjoy living here it a very nice clean community. Maintenance is also nice and always does a great job. The manager Robin is great she is super sweet and friendly and alway makes sure my request are taken care of.
I have lived in a few different complexes. I used to prefer it because it gave me the flexibility to move when my lease was up and I enjoy moving around. However, after living in this complex Ive decided I will never live in an other appointment complex again. On our move in date maintenance was still finishing up some painting which at the time we thought was no big deal but then we descovered they had not fixed several broken things throughout the unit. Our cabinets, a window screen, a glass window, the water heater and dishwasher were all broken upon moving in. They fixed the water heater the day we moved in. After several requests to have them come fix some of the stuff I took it upon myself to fix the cabinets myself. The dishwasher took months to fix. Soon after the dishwasher was repaired using old parts from an older dishwasher our ac broke. They said they fixed it several times and submitted the service request as completed. However, they had not even come to our unit. It took me from November-mid April for me to get them to finally fix my Ac unit. It took me until April to get them to replace the broken screen window (bugs had been coming in form a nearby field even though the window was shut so I assume there is also an issue with the seal on the window and that has still not been looked at or repaired). They finally fixed the broken glass on the window in June (it was broken when we moved in in August). Blinds were damaged and when I requested that they fix them they decided they were going to charge me for them. On top of the maintenance issues I have had while living here the office staff come across as rude and threatening with just about everything they say. It makes me uncomfortable talking to them soni now prefer to communicate with them via email when I bother to try and communicate with them. We have had issues with a neighbor being drunk and belligerent in the hall outside our front door. He was barking at neighbors yelling and pounding on our door. It made me uncomfortable to leave my unit and it took the complex 4 hours to do anything about it. The complex says it is no smoking but the neighbors above our unit smoke and we have seen them several times and contacted the complex about them smoking in their garage below our unit. The office responded by putting a pretty threatening letter on everyone door saying if the smoking wasnt resolved we would be charged for it (even though nor me or my husband smoke) the same neighbors have had gathering in their garage which always seem to end with them all fighting and they play drums and guitar in their unit around 3am. Our car was almost stollen from the parking lot one night luckly our fellow neighbors had posted that their cars had been stolen and we parked our where we could see it from our unit and caught them trying to steal it. Overall this is one of the worst living experiences I have ever had. After this experience I would not recomend anyone live here or really any complex really as this experience has ruined apartment complexes for me forever.
My husband and I moved to Colorado from Indiana, and we picked this apartment complex sight unseen. Due to previous bad reviews, we were a little nervous, but because of the time frame in which we had to be here for his job, we came anyway. And we are so glad we did! All of the previous reviews from other people about hidden fees is BS. If you read your lease agreement, it gives you a breakdown of exactly what to expect. We also contacted the leasing office to clarify since the bad reviews had us so nervous and they immediately broke it down and explained it clearly to us.Everyone in the office and on the maintenance team has been great. We have been here nearly two months and they have all been very easy and pleasant to work with. The clubhouse/fitness center is gorgeous, and the grounds are pleasant to walk through. The apartment was clean when we arrived and is VERY spacious and in good working order. They even left us a goodie bag at move-in containing random items (toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, soap, etc.) - little things that are a big deal when youve got 100 boxes to go through and cant find them.Location is prime - everything weve needed as far as stores, doctors offices, etc. is within a 15 min. drive, and the mountains are also only a 12 min. drive away. All in all, we love it here and we are so glad we stuck to our decision to move here in spite of the other reviews.Edit 05/27/20: We moved out a few months ago due to another job transfer. My original five star rating stands. We loved it here and would recommend to anyone moving to the Denver area.
I absolutely love Griffis Marston Lake!! LeeAnn, one of the leasing staff, helped me with the process of moving in. I had one phone conversation with her and put in an application right after the phone call... without even scheduling a tour. She is so so so helpful and makes you feel comfortable! She made the process of moving in a breeze! Request her over the phone if you’re interested in moving in.I had an incident that happened and the community manager Robin was the most understanding, helpful, sweetest person I’ve ever come across. She will bend over backwards to make sure you’re taken care of! If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask her!!As far as these bad comments go, people will look for anything to complain about. If you don’t want your car booted, make sure your parking pass is visible. It’s not rocket science. There’s plenty of parking too. There are no potholes. Pool is always clean. And if anything bothers you, address it to the leasing office and they’re more than happy to help you with your issue. Seriously. Theyre so helpful!
My experience so far at Griffis Marston Lake has been exceptional! (Its only been four days so Ill try to update when more time has passed). The online portal was easy to follow to view apartments, the application process was simple and fast, and the staff have been so helpful! LeeAnn especially has been amazing from start to finish. With us living out of state and COVID-19 being a thing right now, she has gone above and beyond to make sure that we have all the information we need, understand everything, and are satisfied. Either before or after we applied (cant remember) for our apartment, she got in touch with me and was able to provide a video walkthrough of the same model (different unit) as well as pictures. She also explained how the discount worked that we saw online, has been helpful in explaining each step in the process of signing the lease and preparing all our documents, etc.She and other staff have also been great during our first week of move-in (its only been 4 days). Some examples of this are: 1) we arrived at 10pm on a Saturday as we were driving from out of state - they were able to set up a lockbox and gave us the code so that we could retrieve the key after office hours; 2) we were greeted inside immediately with a handwritten note and a goodie bag with super helpful things like a few dishwasher pods, dishsoap, a sponge, toilet paper/paper towels, branded reusable cups, etc. This was helpful as we were not able to get to the store until later the next day!; 3) our U-Pack (like a POD) was not set to arrive until a couple days after we arrived, but the staff were kind enough to set out a cone for us to reserve that spot for when it arrived, and they also let us borrow a dolly which was SUPER helpful to move all that stuff - as it was it took 3.5 hours to get everything inside the apartment but it would have taken longer without!Additionally, its awesome that this community accepts pets and so far, even though Ive seen a TON of dogs (we have two cats by the way) I have not been bothered by any barking. It seems the walls are much thicker than the previous apartment complex we lived in. Due to COVID, we havent been able to use the gym, pool/spa, or clubhouse, but they look really nice and were excited to be able to use them soon. Lastly, this community has a portal which also has an app, where you can do things such as submit a service request, browse community posts (we bought a table and chairs through this as someone was moving out - it was perfect timing), pay rent, and get a parking pass for a guest. How cool is that?! Maybe these kinds of things are normal in Colorado, but where were from wed be paying DOUBLE what we are now to get all of these options and amenities.Im sure Im forgetting some things but so far my husband and I are completely blown away and hope this is a place we can call home for beyond just this years lease, hopefully for at least a few years while were in this stage in life without kids.Thank you Griffis Marston Lake staff; we are happy to call this our new home!
When first moving in to my new apartment, I was given a lot of helped from LeeAnn who assisted us with keeping packages stored before we even moved in, giving us a welcome gift, showing us around the apartment, and many more wonderful things. There is a hot tub that is heated year-round, a pool table, and a 24-hour free fitness area located near the pool and in the leasing office. A lot of convenient places nearby like dealerships, restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, McDonalds, etc), grocery stores like Wal-Mart, and plenty more places just within 10 minutes at most. From here, you could even walk to the grocery store or other restaurants if you wanted to. A very well-protected, secure, and quiet place. Only downside is that when your neighbors above you have a dog or two, they make a lot of noise when theyre running around or barking, so just make sure youre not being put in an apartment under a person that weighs over 200 pounds, a person that stomps, or a person with dogs. Other than that, very clean and generally a great apartment to live in.
I needed to move due to a new job at the other end of the metro area and transferred from one Griffis owned property to Griffis Marston Lake because Im aware of the dedication Griffis has to excellent property management. They purchased this property at the end of last year and are still renovating but, true to Griffis, its turning out great. New paint, updated clubhouse, gym and outdoor kitchen with a year round pool and jacuzzi and renovations of apartment homes. Theres a lot going on but the property remains clean. The staff is friendly and prompt in taking care of any service requests and they strive to create a little community fun. The area is quiet and folks in the community are friendly. Happy I stuck with Griffis!UPDATE: I just renewed my lease here for another 15 months. They have done a phenomenal job updating, remodeling, and creating new spaces such as a small dog park, a dog wash station, and a bike storage/repair garage. The staff works hard to provide community events and I cant say enough about the great job the maintenance team does. Parking can be a little challenging if you come home late at night but its not awful. Any parking challenges are really due to the size of the lot when the property was built. Not the fault of Griffis Marston Lake and they have worked hard to put policies in place to make it a bit easier. I love this community and am so appreciative for the staff here as well as how hard Griffis works to ensure its properties are top notch and its staff is well trained. They done such an amazing job of improving the community that the clientele coming in to rent has been awesome and the community just keeps getting better.
I’ve been here for 7 months and it has been the best living experience I have had yet. The staff is wonderful and every issue I have ever had has been fixed in a day. They are always looking to go above and beyond for the tenants whether it be free breakfast or just checking in. Lucky to have found this place!
My boyfriend and I have lived here for 7 months and have been pleased. Every issue and/or service request we have had has been resolved within 24-48 hours. Quick and efficient which we appreciate. The staff has been helpful and courteous, Jena in particular has been great - she played a part in my choosing this apartment over others- her friendliness and relatable nature was refreshing and what I look for in my residence staff.
The amount of dog sh$& around this place has dropped it from a 4 star to a 1. This place is gross.
The staff is extremely accommodating and responds to inquiries withing a few hours and sometimes even minutes! The staff also puts on community events for its tenants and tries extremely hard to make it a very friendly environment. The maintenance staff is equally responsive and provides very good service.
I wont say this place is perfect, and from what I understand it used to be not so great, but right now its great, quiet and is so welcoming for pets I decided to get two. I wish the pool and facilities were open 24/7 because I have odd hours and Im not always in a rush to hit the pool or the hot tub but the price is fair enough that I dont mind. Also, this place is a tad more diverse than the surroundings so I like that. Im content.
I have lived here for 4 months now with no problems. The staff is very nice and maintenance has been prompt. I would recommend to live here
This place is fantastic. The fact that there are so many nasty reviews on here is ridiculous. I can promise you these are the same people that just complain about everything. I’ve lived in many apartments and never once have I felt so comfortable. The people in the office are amazing. Willing to do anything you ask and always have a smile on their face no matter what is going on. The pool area with the grills and tables is beautiful and super convenient and the actual apartments are really really nice. Are there occasionally things that need to be taken care of? Of course, just like anywhere. However unlike anywhere else I’ve ever lived when you call and ask for something to be fixed it gets done usually the same day and if they’re busy they always find their way out to you. Parking is easy. The only problem seems to be these other sad people writing nasty reviews because they have nothing better to do with their time. If your a normal, rational person who wants to live somewhere that feels safe, clean and is run by nothing but the nicest people this is a place for you. Highly, HIGHLY recommend. One last thing. For those who may feel the price is a little high, just remember you get what you pay for.
Griffis Marston Lake has Excellent Management and Maintenance Staff.I have lived here about 4 Years and The Property has Improved 100%.The Maintenance Team is Excellent. Work Order are Aways Completed within 24-48 Hours. When it Snows, the Team is on The Job Early & Late. The Steps & Sidewalks are Always Cleared of Snow & Ice.The New Clubhouse is State of The Art, Always a Welcome Place to Visit. The Pool & Hot Tub are well maintained.Griffis is a Very Safe Community with the New Security andConvenient to Shopping.People May Complain.. But You Get What You Pay for.
I have lived at Monterey for about a year or so and I loved my apartment and the community, it makes me feel welcome and feels like home. My unit is spacious and can’t beat full size washer and dryer in my apt!!!! Both office and maintenance staff cares about the place and they are super professional. When my water heater went out on a weekend they replaced it in just a few hours (Thanks guys you are the best!!!!). Only down part is parking but I had the same problem in my other apartment where I used to live not too far from here and dog poop, but I think dog owners should be responsible for picking up after their dog specially after having pet stations around the complex. My lease is up soon and me and my roommate are planning to stay!!!
Absolutely disgusted with the new management here. I have lived in the complex for close to 2 years. The former management company seemed to genuinely care about the residents. There would be clubhouse events, breakfast days and other times where the management would simply say thanks. Now, not so much. If you walk into the office now, it feels like a burden to them. There is ZERO parking. Unless you work 9-5, good luck. I just got home from walking a mile. I am not even parked in the complex and I refuse to park my car in a handicap spot.
Our family was moving across the country and had some bad luck with another community that fell through the day before we left our previous home. This was a beyond stressful unforeseen circumstance that left my husband and I somewhat desperate to secure housing at the last minute. By chance I came across some reviews for Griffis at Marston Lake. I immediately called and LeAnn answered the phone. From that point on LeAnn continued to answer our calls with numerous questions and expedited our approval process to get us a home while we drove from Atlanta to Denver with our child and two fur babies. Her quality service assured us tremendously that although we picked an apartment sight unseen we were in good hands. The entire process was smooth, communication was consistent and we love our new place. The neighborhood is clean, neighbors friendly and welcoming. LeAnn and the entire Griffis at Marston Lake staff have helped us turn a stressful situation into a great one and we look forward to spending more time in our new community knowing the leasing staff is there to support us completely. We genuinely Thank You LeAnn!
UPDATE 2/22:I would give the corporate side of Griffis a 2 star. While the complex and office staff is definitely a 5 star.So they require 60 days notice to vacate. My rent had increased $50, which I was already over what I wanted to spend and $50 was waaay too much over. Therefore, I put my notice in and started searching elsewhere, even though I enjoyed the complex and staff. What was frustrating is that come January my place was still listed on the site, and at much lower than what I was currently paying. I get there that it is just the apartment world and thats how it works. However, to have a good tenant, who pays on time, is clean, etc, leave to then have who knows who come in. I guess it just would have been nice if someone had reached out at some point to say hey, the rent has decreased, do you want to stay? Also during the pandemic, nothing was done other than waive late fees. But they instilled the fear that, once they were done being waived, you owed everything and if you didnt it would escalate. Which, of course, understandable because its a corporate business. But something of good faith, waiving something especially when we couldnt use the amenities wouldve been nice.As for the complex itself and the office staff. 5 stars. All of the office staff at all times were amazing, friendly, and wonderful. Never had any issues. Any time I did have issues, or questions, everyone was most helpful. The maintenance is also amazing. They get in within 24/48 hours. One time they showed up a couple hours after I put a request in. I always saw them out and about, and anyone I interacted with was kind as well. The only negative thing is their security company they use. Oculas. Terrrrible. I had to call once and they never showed up and called me back after midnight. So hopefully you never have to call them.As for parking, near my building I never had issues, but I cant say the same for other buildings.Overall, expensive, but kind of worth it. Staff and maintenance are a 10/10. Location isnt bad, you can easily hop on 285, Walmart across the street. Just overall sucks that its your typical corporate apartment company.---------------I just moved in a few weeks ago. So at the moment its 5 stars! Apartment shopping can be difficult and its hard to trust the sales teams at them. There are always hidden fees and what not. However, Donya and LeeAnn were super helpful in my search. I went back three separate times to look at the same apartment. They answered every annoying question I had and were beyond patient with me. They were/are great, always friendly and helpful! Living here for the couple weeks has been pretty good so far. No issues with parking. The maintenance team, Sergio and Miguel, have also been super wonderful. Ive had issues with my washer and dryer. After the attempt of trying to fix them once, they ended up just replacing my washer. They seem to always be on top of maintenance here. Kelsey has also been helpful. She called to let me know there was a computer glitch in my automatic rent payment, with the glitch they didnt charge me a late fee. Honestly no issues! Yet. And hopefully none in the future!
Under new management in 2015, most of the year has been great, SIGNIFICANT improvements and repair to the facility (never happened EVER under old management, with pot-holes a few feet in diameter and rusting out railings), and the new management staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The old management would waste money on get together events that was extraordinarily silly considering how poorly maintained the facility was. Im glad they are actually spending money to improve the complex. I think this is the shift in property management Monterey has been needing in the past few years, thank goodness.
I have lived here two years with no issue. They just changed their parking enforcement and I believe there new policies are predatory. It is a new way for Griffis vendors to milk more money out of us, I expect to have fees but not my car booted when my parking pass is visible. The security companys employees get commission from the number of boots they place on the residents vehicles.
I have been a resident of this complex since it was built in 2002. I continue to to be very happy living here. The management staff has been very helpful with all aspects of my living experiences here. I have changed apartments three times to accommodate my individual needs. Getting to know the staff has been wonderful& heart warming because they have all gone up & beyond what was expected of them.My service requests have always been attended to within 24 hours & without error.Because I dont drive a car, the apartment complex is within walking distance to a Wal-Mart as well as a little convenience store. The trash pickup areas are always picked up & disposed of in a timely fashion.A very friendly pet accommodating complex.I would recommend the Griffiis Marston Lake apartments as a Superior Living Community. ☺
Always enjoy myself. Super big area to have a party and play
Staff and services are great! Parking is absolutely atrocious though. Plan on parking far from your building if you get home after 8 or 9.
Had a Barnacle (kind of like a boot) put on my car while I was parked in a clearly marked VISITOR parking space while visiting some friends. It costs 300 dollars to get the thing off and when I contacted the property management to try to make sense of why they would put one of those on a car in a visitor spot the lady that helped me was EXTREMELY rude and told me We can tow anyone on our property for any reason. Which is true, but it just shows how horrible the management at this complex really is.
The apartments are clean, the staff is friendly, the grounds are well cared for, and the amenities are far better than I have experienced in any other apartment I have lived in. When an issue arises, the maintenance staff is always able to resolve it quickly. The location of this complex is also perfect for me. I am extremely pleased with my experiences thus far.
Ive been here for almost a month and management has been so helpful and nice. The apartment itself is fantastic! I love the area too. So many shops and restaurants close by!
Lived here for 2 two months and hate it. Currently working on moving out. Dont do it people not a good place too live. They charge you for the upkeep on the property and other stuff that is NOT the residents responsibility. I also moved into my apartment and there was a horrid smell. I found out the people before me had cats, and the staff never cleaned the carpet or put new carpet in. The staff is nice but there has been confusion every month with my rent and I end up paying all kinds of fees for their mess ups. I lived at Velo Apartments down Wads for 1 year and never payed rent late once. Its just been a headache here. There is other apartments in the area just as nice that wont give you these types of problems.
Do not ever live here, they harass their residents to no end. Good flr them for being a no smoking residence. I dont appreciate getting letters on my door threatening eviction for smoking violations when Im not a smoker. Maybe you should talk to the chain smoker who lives next door to me or the stoner one floor down who fills the air with pot smoke that you can smell a block away. They harassed me again when they booted my car and expect me to lay $90 to have it removed. Im a REGISTERED RESIDENT with a valid parking pass. Parking pass fell off of my rearview mirror and now I have a boot. This is HARASSMENT. Im filing a claim with the better business bureau. Avoid this place at all costs.
My boyfriend and I lived here for the past year and LOVED it. We had to relocate for grad school purposes, but enjoyed our time at Griffis.1. The staff are kind, helpful, and instill a positive culture. They plan gatherings, Friday morning doughnuts, share seasonal recipes on the apartment portal, etc. They are also very helpful and always try and find a solution if they can’t fix it at that moment. For any concerns, suggestions, or just to chat their door is always open. I really enjoyed how welcome they all made you feel.2. I always felt safe there. Getting off late at night and having to walk across the parking lot I felt safe getting to my apartment.3. The quiet community, I didn’t have an issue with loud neighbors. Yes being an apartment complex and sharing walls with other residents you will occasionally hear people living their life. It was not a nuisance in the least.4. The clean grounds. The grounds men were“Johnny on the spot” about mowing, keeping the side walks clean, making sure the snow was removed, putting down ice melt, etc. They did a very nice job! Yes sometimes there was dog poop, that was more of an issue of some unmannered residents but the groundsmen would pick it up if they saw it.Overall we liked it here, its an apartment complex so it will have apartment complex issues such as hearing your neighbors at times, dog poop in the grass, and the never ending battle for the best parking space. When signing a lease theses all should be known factors you’re agreeing to tolerate. The community, staff, adorable units, and great location should be why you pick here! Its close to grocery stores, shopping, walking paths, the mountains, frisbee golf courses, 20 min from downtown, and ~45 to the airport given the time of day.
What a great place to live! Griffis after taking over has turned this place a complete 180! What a difference! Been here for 2 years and loving the staff and service here! They really go the extra mile and care! Jenna and Robyn are my fav! Kelsey and Donya have hearts of gold! The service there is Great when our dryer broke they replaced it so quick! We have loved living here! Thank you Griffis! I really feel like it’s all about me!
DONT EVER LIVE HERE STAFF IS SO SHITY THEY NEVER WANT TO DO ANYTHING. THEY NEVER HAVE ANY accountability ITS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE FAULT AND THEY CANT HELP WITH YOUR PROBLEM RIGHT THEN AND THERE IT TAKE A DAY. I MISS THEY OLD STAFF WERE THEY ACTUALLY TOOK CARE OF STUFF.
If I could rate it negative 5 stars I would. This complex cares more about making money off the residents then anything else. The parking regulations are the most ridiculous, and money hungry system Ive seen in effect. Save yourself the trouble, and the money. I would rather live on the street then continue paying this TERRIBLE company another dollar.
These apartments are overpriced. My rent went up by $260 per month the second year. There are yelping dogs everywhere and nobody picks up after them. Neither the staff nor the residents keep the place looking nice. There is trash everywhere, and the external stairs are all broken and falling apart. As for the inside, they are a little nicer than the outside. When Ive called maintenance for a couple of issues, they came and fixed the problems right away. It was very clean and decent looking upon moving in.
I will begin by saying I would have loved to rent with this particular rental company although after reading the rest of these reviews, I now understand why I do not want to ever try and rent with Monterey apartments in the future. The apartments are beautiful but also way too expensive for what is Included. Also the management acts very fake nice to new people who are possibly looking into renting with them. We were practically pushed out of the rental office 5 minutes before close because they didnt want to be there anymore or do there jobs. While asking rental questions there had been multiple phone calls to the office and every single one was either ignored or told to call back at a later time. This also was a huge turn off as a potential rental choice of mine. I have already been lied too multiple times by management, they promised me I would have to pay a certain amount for an apartment I was looking to rent and that it would still be the same price if I was to come and sign the lease the next day. I went in early the next day and the rent was a couple hundred more than they promised it would be. That was a Complete turn down and I decided not to rent from them. When all of this was happening they made us feel like it was our fault for not getting our applications in sooner, even tho they promised us the day before that we would be fine to come in the next day. The other disrespectful lies I have encountered since.... they had told me that I could email/call them everyday to check in with them to see if the rent amount had gone down or if the apartment I wanted would be still available at a later date. Ever since then Ive literally emailed and called them multiple times a day for a week now and I have not received ONE, not ONE phone call or email back saying anything about the apartment I wanted to rent. This is a sure indicator to me to not ever want to rent with this rental company, let alone give them any of my time anymore. They clearly do not care about anyone who already lives there or give possible new renters the time of day. The customer service of this place is disgusting and it makes me sad knowing this is going to continue to happen to the renters already living there, and new renters who dont know any better. Please reconsider if you do look into this rental company, I did and Im happy with my decision, there are so many nicer apartments that are bigger, cost less and have amazing management.
Very Horrible Customer service from EVERYONE in the office. Every time we had a package delivered to the office they always felt it was a inconvenience to get up and find it. As well as the parking, walking with 2 kids across the whole complex to get to our building from the parking spot we actually found is ridiculous in itself. We recently moved OUT of the apartments and I understand you have to clean and fix what needs fixed. But sending the move out expenses to a collection company BEFORE you send it to the tenant to pay is just insane!!! They say to wait a week for it to even have an account number before you call the collection agency. The apartments say it is their policy to do this, and we made all of our payments on or before rent was due and are happy to pay move out costs as well. And yet it will affect credit when we havent even been given a chance to pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure if you move in or are thinking about moving out ask them about this, as anyone who moves in should be aware what they will be enduring once you move out! If I could give Negative Stars I would.
My husband, son, pets & I lived there for a little over a year. The leasing office & maintenance staff are top notch as far as were concerned! The only major problem there is the dog poop on the grounds and Ill tell you something...thats the disgusting tenants that are too lazy to pick up after their dogs, NOT the GML staff because I have personally seen them picking up after these inconsiderate individuals. Our experience has been that they are always happy to help & answered any service requests asap! All apartment communities should have staff like the great people we had the pleasure of knowing at GML. If we hadnt been moving out of state due to my health problems, wed still be there. Keep up the good work guys! We definitely appreciate you!! 💕
I never moved to this complex apartments and canceled my application- thanks to God!, after I saw how the management team treats their customers. In summery:- the staff are not helpful- you cant rely on their promises, even after you apply and get approved- they dont communicate well with and respect to their customers- they dont care about their customersI would not recommend working with them at all.
Do not stay here:1. My new car is full of dings2. No-where for kids to play so they play either right under your window or use your car as ping pong with rocks and balls etc3. No matter how perfectly you leave your apartment after the stay you will not get your full bond back4. Having to give 2 months notice is ridiculous (Especially with a 6 month lease)5. Rent is pretty expensive6. Bin Compressor is always broken7. Car park is always full and the people they have renting there have no morals and the garage rental at an additional $100 a month for something that only fits the smallest of cars is also pretty poor.AVOID THIS PLACE !!!
Do not rent from here. The old management and staff was rather good actually, not as many issues as people describe here. I moved in over 2 years ago and loved it at first. Renewed twice even after a 4% minimum increase in rent. This was going to be my 3rd year, and possibly a 4th, until the new management has taken over.Upon new management taking over, I have been lied to by management on 4 separate occasions and have had over $150 in fines on my account that were their fault. They have refused to remove them, and have even taken over 3 months to fix the billing issues to reflect accurately on my account--even after I paid them. The lead office manager is one of the most irresponsible people I have ever met in my life, and have had several people in the office at once calling him out for the lies he tells. Nothing gets fixed, addressed, or resolved on time, and even then most of the time damages or fees assessed through office errors are still forced on the customer.Complex/building water, trash, gas, and energy (parking lights, community spaces) is divided into your bill, meaning that you literally pay for every dime in overhead that they have. On top of that the new company has allowed Watts Towing Co. to take over in parking management. It is a horrible decision, as I have seen dozens of booted or towed cars, and I cannot even allow friends to park in our parking lot--they were instead told to park on the street south of the complex (which is a 4 minute walk to my doorstep). Had several friends get boots already within a few hours of parking in our complex. They give no warning on facilities maintenance and allow construction equipment to take up 10% of the already difficult parking while booting our cars for not parking in a designated spot. On top of that there are physically not enough space built into the complex to begin with--a few nights I cannot even park on our own property. Dreading the day that I move out and fear the amount of fees I will get. Trying to move out is nothing short of a hassle if you move out early. They charge you current market price 1 month, plus a 60 day notice. My current market price is over $400 higher than my current monthly rent. And no, that is not that big of a deal for how incredibly expensive it already is with the reduced price. Before all this happened as well, I asked about moving into a 2 bedroom that they had vacant. Instead of no fee, or a small fee, you had to pay a whole new deposit, as well as 1 month market price in your current room and give a 60 day notice--on top of the first months rent in your new apartment. Shocking people that they have running this place now.Paid rent on time every month, and they still treat you like absolute trash.Stay away from this place, the management is horrible, the parking company is fanatical, and the facilities are quickly deteriorating. A shame too, because the actual inside of the apartments are incredible, and the old staff was good. Shame the new company is driving this place into the ground. DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I love my apartment, it is really nice for the most part. I moved in right in the middle of them being bought, so the people that helped me initially kinda pushed me into my apartment and didnt tell me too much. Dont get me wrong the girl that rented my apartment to me was amazing, however her hands were tied in the middle of the transition. I really like the new staff thus far, they have been friendly. I am really excited to see what the clubhouse will look like when it is done.I want to point out the fact that so many people complain about the clubhouse being under renovation. They say I pay for something I cant use etc etc..... Well I am here to tell you that I spent about 2 hours a day in our apartment gym and I rarely saw anyone. The girl who I saw the most is actually my neighbor. So stop complaining if you dont even work out. I think people just find reasons to complain because they just want to be heard. That is whats wrong with the world, but that is a whole other topic.Yes I can hear my neighbors above me and at times it is loud when I am trying to sleep. However we have to sit back and think that we do live in apartments and people have to live. The guy above me is a fire fighter with a different schedule than most of us. I would never dare complain about it, if anything I should thank him for his service. This is just an example of things people will go out of their way to complain about instead of finding the reasoning or rationalizing it.The only downfall I have with these apartments are the fact that there are many people who have pets that dont clean up their dogs droppings. Which is completely disgusting, I personally feel that apartment living is no place for an animal. However this apartment complex is gracious enough to let people have pets. For people to legit complain about the dog poop, you can thank your fellow residents are it is their faults for not picking up behind their dogs. I come from Tennessee and most nice apartment complex like ours dont even allow pets of any kind unless its a bird or reptile which is caged 100% of the time. Please do yourselves a favor and respect the company Griffis Marston that has purchased this property and is slowing making it a better place. Nothing happens over night, there are so many issues they tend to on the property. Also they have so many new people that want to tour the property and rent homes. They have jobs aside from listening to all of you bicker. I think you should step back and think about what it takes to run an apartment community. I think it is awesome that they have stepped in and started renovating these apartments. In the long run it is making Griffis a better, nicer and more efficient place to live.Respectfully,Jessica Swenson
This place is the worst! After touring and viewing an apartment, I was all set to sign my lease. I gave my application fee and deposit but then they had me jump through all of these hoops to prove I was worthy of paying them too much rent for a small apartment. After completing the process and ten days before moving to Colorado from out of state, they told me that my application was totally declined even though I have prefect credit and rental history. Because my app was declined they assured me that my application fee would be returned but when I called to collect they tried to tell me it was my fault the lease fell through and that I wouldnt be receiving my money. Big mistake. They were shady and dishonest and tried to make me feel bad about taking back my money which was already cashed before the lease was signed which just shows how shady their business practices are. Do no rent from these people! There are way better apartments out there that are bigger, cheaper, and with better amenities!
Let me just start by saying I am very glad that I did not rent from here. I applied and cancelled my app on Aug 23. Its Sept 18th and I still have not received my check for the $200 holding fee. The response I get from the leasing agent is that they are waiting for the check to arrive any day now so that it can be sent out. My question is its been almost 30 days....what is the hold up? Save yourself the time and only apply if you know for sure this where you want to live. I hate to see how the residents are treated if this is the response management gives to a prospect.
Absolutely love it. Thank you.
Called them several times about their parking, never tried to fix or call back on the problem. Good luck finding a spot!!
This was by far the most terrible renting experience. My stay here literally ended with a bang....to my car. During the winter, snow removal on the parking lot was not always done. One time, they pushed snow around but unfortunately pushed it all behing the parking space my car was in. It took almost an hour to get my car out and head into work. Also, the trash compactor they had was terrible. It filled up fast so there was no place to get rid of trash and it was LOUD. It work me up when there were people throwing trash in at 3 am and I was not even directly across the compactors. Also, there were kids soliciting that would actually bang on the door screaming which management did not effectively handle. Now, back to my car incident. There were some sketchy people living in the apartment.... I was backing out of my space one day, not in a hurry, and I felt something and heard a scream. Realizing it was a dog I ran out of my car and ran to the dogs side. Having worked in the veterinary field I felt terrible and wanted to keep it calm and get it to a hospital. Meanwhile, the owner, possibly drunk, ran out and climbed on my car and actually started bashing it in while screaming the worse profanities I have ever heard. He also swung his arms at me. If a neighbor had not run out I may have been harmed physically. After we finally convinced him to get to a vet, I called the police to report the incident. The police officer arrived commenting she had been here a lot lately. We knew the garage the guy had leased so we went to management to get his name. The management said they could not disclose that information. The police officer was shocked and warned they could not withold that info from an officer investigating an incident of this level so they did give it. I did not feel safe after that knowing a neighbor, who often appeared drunk and had physically threatened me was so close to my residence. I told them I wanted out of my lease if they were not going to evict the assailant and they said I could move but would owe rent for the remainder of the lease. I did end up complaining to corporate. They offered to end my lease 30 days early but I still ended up having a month and a half where I was paying rent for both Monterey and this apartment. This apartment turned into a very expensive ordeal ( a couple thousand out of pocket) and very traumatic. Their very words were they were in no way liable for the actions of tenants and would not take any action against this criminal. That is not a place I imagine anyone would want to live.
This place is the worst place I have ever lived!!!!!!!!!! THESE PEOPLE WILL FIND EVERY POSSIBLE WAY TO STEAL MONEY FROM YOU WHEN YOU MOVE OUT!!! When we first moved in our apartment was infested with Bed Bugs. I woke up with bites all over my neck after only two nights in the apartment. We addressed this issue with the staff and they were absolutely no help. After 6 months of waking up with bites all over my body, I stayed up all night and waited for the bugs to come out. When I finally found one and brought it into the office in a jar, the lady at the desk was totally disgusted and told me to get that thing out of there. Even though, when I first addressed the issue they said if I found a bug and brought it in they would know how to treat the apartment. In the end, they did pay for the exterminator to come out and treat the apartment and the rest of our time there was bug free. However, moving out was the WORST experience I have ever had with an apartment complex. I have a friend that lived here as well for 4 years and she decided to move out when her lease ended just a few weeks before my lease ended. They never sent her a bill, and she got a call from a collections agency saying that Monterey had sent the bill to collections. When she confronted the staff about it their response was oh, we sent it to collections the same day we sent you the bill because thats just how we do it. My lease ended October 13th, on September 30th I logged onto my account to pay the prorated rent for October because I had never received a bill. When I logged on, it said we owed $60 and we paid it. The day we turned in our keys they didnt give us a bill or mention that we still owed them money. After settling into our new apartment we received a bill from Monterey saying we owed $460 and it had a few hundred dollars of late fees tacked on. I asked them about the late fees and they said its because even though it was due on October 1st, they didnt update our account until the 1st. I was pissed, but payed the late fees anyway, just wanting to be done with this wretched place. Today I received a notice from a collections agency saying that Monterey had sent our bill to collections as well. Overall, I suggest that you NEVER rent with this company because of their unprofessionalism, and disregard for all tenants living within the complex.
The management, maintenance manager and all the staff that work here are awful, rude and could care less about the tenants. The place is full of bed bugs, but they do everything they can to hide it. The rent and all the additional fees they charge are so overpriced - NOT WORTH IT!! Do not let them convince you otherwise. STAY AWAY from this place and look for a private landlord that will let you rent a house if you cannot afford to buy!
There is never parking and anything the office staff says they will do never happens, water heaters suck so bad I can (no joke) boil water on my stove faster than I get hot water from the tap
I have lived here for a little over a year, my fiance has lived here just over two years. The grounds are pretty especially in the spring and summer. There is a little sliver of a park nearby but it will take you about 3 minutes to walk through. If you like to spend time outdoors you will have to drive to a park especially since you wont be able to enjoy any of the beautiful green areas within the complex. Dog poop is such an issue here. There are doggy potty stations all over the place but few people seem to utilize them. There is poop all over the grass both fresh and decomposing and it is sometimes on the sidewalks as well- it is quite literally everywhere. Many people complain about parking. I think this depends on where in the complex you live, I have never had an issue with parking but do notice people driving around late at night desperately looking for a spot. We used to be required to have parking permits (when under Montereys management) and cars that did not have the proper permit were towed or cited. The new management appears to have little sympathy for residents. Their response was that parking is first come first serve and if it was really that big of a deal you could pay an additional $100 a month (at least) for a garage. Although I am not affected by parking, I found this response to be inappropriate for lack of a better resolution. Our only complaint with the new management so far is that since Griffis has taken over they sent contractors into every unit to take measurements. This is fine except for the fact that they did not give 24 hours notice. We had a note on our door that was dated for the day before, stating that they would be coming into our apartment in two days between 9am-5pm. This would have been fine except they posted the notice the day before they came into my apartment (a day after the date on the notice only giving me 12 hours notice) I definitely do not appreciate last minute notices especially when strangers are entering my home.We have the Sundance floor plan (2 bed/2 bath) and are currently paying $1337 (before fees) for the unit. We just got our renewal letter. The least expensive renewal was for 15 months at $1497 (supposedly this was a discounted increase we were supposed to be happy with!) The apartment is currently listed on the webpage at $1,734/mo (WHAT A RIP over $530 increase in rent from when we first moved in TWO YEARS AGO!) I would also like to point out that we have a basic apartment. Meaning nothing has been upgraded in years and we have nothing fancy. When my fiance moved in originally he was paying around $1200 for the unit We renewed once already with a $100 increase but in just over 2 years rent has now increased more than $300!! We feel we are wasting money just paying more and more with nothing in return. Our unit has laminate floors which are peeling at the corners, and laminate even on the cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen which is beginning to peel as well, our refrigerator door is on backwards, and the A.C. unit makes a strange bubbling noise. When we asked maintenance about it they said it was normal. Our fireplace is also gas which some may not mind but it blows out at the smallest gust of wind which is frustrating having to constantly reset it.I can only hope that under new management things begin to be better here. It looks like they are updating the units as people vacate and they recently started construction on the clubhouse and to make the outdoor pool open year round. This is all great but for residents like us who have never used the clubhouse or the pool these upgrades mean nothing. So for the rest of us, we are paying much more in rent for the same old apartment. We no longer feel like we are getting the best bang for our buck but rather flushing money down the toilet. We will not be renewing our lease and have found an updated apartment with all the same amenities as Griffis and more.
There is never any parking, it is an every day struggle. I am sitting here at 12:22am waiting for a spot to open up. Im not walking to my apartment from walmart. Feeling pissed right now. Rent is too high for this place and there is no parking but people have their trailers here that never move. Dont move here the front office is rude and maintenance is slow and unorganized.
Griffs at Marston lakes Towed my vehicle to Majestic Towing 45 minutes away from my apartment. Majestic Towing uses a cell phone as a office phone it took me from 2-430p to finally process out my car. They made me wait until their phone was charged because thats their way of taking payments. I also was told I wouldnt be able to contact them until their phone charged and when I told her I wanted another number to contact them, that I dont feel comfortable with them having my car in their poession and not being able to contact you. They lady at Majestic laughed and said that was there office phone. I cant even belive Griff would do business with people like that. Griffs at Marston lakes took over the apartment complex and is horribly ran they are blaming all their issues on the previous owners instead of taking responsibility for their purchase. Griffs at Marston Lakes towed my vehicle with my parking pass on the car. They dont have any control over parking. There are cars that park here over night that dont even live here let alone pay rent. I have been on a waiting list for a garage since August and now magically since my car was towed one is magically available. Griffs management and corporate office is a joke. They dont take any responsibility for not having control or even knowing how many cars are assigned to one lease. 2 months ago we went in to get a day pass for a family member to park and they told us they dont do that anymore and that our parking passes werent even being utilized and she told my husband they werent checking or towing. Now that I have a 235$ impound fee they tell a different story. The corporate office wont even meet me half way on the tow which really shows their colors as a business. I do not recommend anyone to move in here especially if you have children. I have a 3 year old and sometimes there no parking at all. The corporate lady asked me to see if maybe I can park in the complex across the street. I couldnt believe she said that to me. Obviously she doesnt care about her resident or their vehicles.
WARNING!!!!!!DO NOT MOVE HERE WARNING I have not even lived here a month and I already hate it!!! The neighbors above me are the noisiest neighbors Ive ever had. I am not sure if they weigh 600 pounds each and wear lead boots while running a bowling alley out of their apartment or if they just have no self awareness and consideration for others. The person who owns the garages beneath my apartment seem to run a work shop out of the two garages directly below me. He loves to run all sorts of loud equipment during all hours of the night(not exaggerated). He insist on doin this after he opens and closes each garage door 3 times each, one after the other. Like he has some sort of OCD. There are regular doors he can use to access but decides to use the ones that shake the entire apartment with the push of a bottom. Ive called the office three times and have received no return call or relief from the noise. They really DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE HERE. Also the apartment itself is of extremely cheap material, craftsmanship, and terrible planning ie; poor use of space, spray on texture counter tops. The quality of the spray on texture gets faded with water. Multiple cabinets have over spray and the fake wood floor laminant is bubbling and the fridges door is on backwards. THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!! DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!
AFter reading reviews we will not be moving here. This place looked great but they suffer the same issue all these crappy apartments suffer bad managers
Recycling bin always full of trash, none of the staff seem to care at all. No one picks up after their dogs, and people park in the middle of the roundabout. The pool is always disgusting, as is the hot tub. The rent here is quite high for the quality. Worst renting experience Ive ever had.
One of the worst rental experiences. We picked this place online prior to an interstate move & will never recommend it to someone. It is expensive compared to what we have paid for other places in past. The area is loud most nights. There are many dog owners that DO NOT pick up after their dogs. We have to be careful what sidewalks we use because of dog poop and forget walking on the grass anywhere! Unfortunately that leaves no place to play with your kids. Additionally, most dog owners I know here have had trouble with their dogs being ill. Dont think this is a coincidence. Since we have been here the ownership has changed, some staff has changed, parking permits issued, and a security company is supposed to be available after hours. The office staff has been pretty good about listening to our complaints, but NOT ONE was ever resolved. We currently have a neighbor who is vulgar, aggressive, very loud & intimidating. We have complained several times, contacted security and even Denver PD. You get to the point where you stop reporting/complaining because nothing gets done. We have resorted to minimizing use of our living room and avoiding our own patio when the neighbor is home. We pay A LOT of $$ for small space to be subjected to this. Lately, there has been increasing amounts of noise in the parking lot at night d/t drunk people, car stereos and a basic disrespect of others. Our car has suffered damage in the parking lot many times. We finally paid for a garage, which is too small for our car (mini van) to fit in. We were quoted $100 and charged $170. Washer/dryer are ok, but have had to call maintenance several times. The guys are great and do their best, but we still have to run our dryer 2-3 times to dry one load. We had the unfortunate experience of finding dirty areas when we moved in, such as: urine on the floor around the toilets, dirty sliding glass door, handprints on ceiling, soap buildup in showers, etc. We got a quick sorry from the staff. Now that we are moving, we have a list of what the charges will be if we dont clean. Have never had to replace stovetop/burner drip pans or be charged! Have never had the experience of being charged for common area gas & electric; like expense of parking lot lights, etc. Very cheap way to do business. Thankfully we are finally moving!! Would have moved far sooner if was possible.
Once this new company took over these apartments went down hill quick.
I paid my rent on time, they lost the check in drop box and told me to put it on the drop box again, almost calling me a liar and slapping me with a late fee. Have to walk it in now to pay and get records, so Im not screwed. Argued with me about my broken door made me pay for it as they accused me of breaking it when it was never right in first place. Never parking be ready to hike or park in fire zone
Parking is not assigned. But, its a very nice place.
I have lived here for over 3 years, and through over 6 management due to them being fired for doing nothing. now, we have new owners, and they ARE DOING EVEN LESS. i havent had hot water in my apartment for two weeks, and me submitting maintenance requests and calling to ask them to fix it is being met with threats and harassment from the staff saying they will evict me. we have message boards for the RESIDENTS to chat, and they have deleted and censored my posts about how i am being treated, they have deleted and ignored every resident about the parking, the security (there is NONE) and the staffs attitude. i am now looking for a different place to live and speaking with my attorney about the lack of safety in my unit.Kendra and Robin have both purposely harassed and ignored me to the point now where i have to consider asking my neighbors to use their shower. As a person with disabilities, you would think that the staff would treat me as an equal, but in fact, Robin laughed at me when i was in the ICU and i have never received an apology from that.do NOT rent here, do not refer people here, and honestly, dont rent from any of the Griffis properties.i also need to mention that i have been threatened with eviction if i continue to let people know about how i am treated.
