I love paying extra for the 200 Mbps efficiency, just for Midco to have constant outages and terrible excuses. They said because Im on a grid system they have to wait for whoever in this neighborhood to report an issue and fix their modem before the entire grid is running optimally. Thats a fancy way of saying no matter what service or what you pay for, it wont be what youre expecting until your neighbor calls and complains to us. Dont use this provider, Im switching ASAP. I dont use Facebook or Twitter so telling me to contact you via social media does nothing to solve my problem.
The absolute worst ISP I’ve ever used. I’ve never had so many interruptions and constant outages. On top of that, paying $90 a month for 500mb when so many other company’s do a Gig for less, what a joke!
My Internet has been shoddy for the last five years. Working from home has been fairly stable until recently after talking to them. I was excited when I heard they were coming to do a a survey of the apartment complex which would presumably lead to better quality. However, ever since they did, my Internet has been practically unusable.Im going to contact them soon to see if they can fix it again. Im moving soon and definitely going to be researching my options because this is kind of ridiculous.EDIT: Changing my Review from 1 to 4. I spoke with technical support and they got the issue resolved very promptly.
Literally the worst ISP Ive ever seen. They want to charge you to send a tech out but when they do, he never fixes the issue. The issue is at the line outside and TONS of people have called from our town but they wont come fix it.
Constant disconnects without notice on their end. Hardware works perfectly fine on my end.
Midco is an excellent cable company. They have cable, internet and business internet. I highly recommend getting Midcos services.
Easy swap out of my device that was not working properly. The customer service rep was friendly and very helpful.
Couldn’t find how to do this on the main page, so I hope a supervisor sees- Nickolas Zacharias was an extremely helpful and friendly sales rep that helped me with getting new services connected so I wanted to acknowledge him for a job well done!
Horrible company! You are lucky that you got 1 starTo bad there is not a negative star!
If you have the misfortune of being forced to use Midco you’ll get to enjoy a lovely experience of getting around 10% of what you paid for in terms of internet speeds
Id find a different internet provider this one keeps claiming I didnt make any calls or payments on my bill an shut my services off before the date that was scheduled .....would give zero stars but I had to click on 1 to continue .....huge rip off, thier internet is spotty at best
Installer was professional and helpful. Went out of his way to make sure the wire looked neatly hung where we wanted it. The service never cuts out or lags. Pretty happy.
Very terrible internet service. Had outages quite a bit. Internet was always slow even though I was the only one on it. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Every time I go in to pay a bill, the staff are courteous and understanding. My internet is great and I rarely have any problems. I have had no hidden fees so far and I have had their business from day 1. Keep up the good work!
Horrible download speed and is super slow
These guys offer no promos for existing customers unless you are taking more of their services. When they first arrived in Lawrence, Ks. they sent out letters to more people than I can list here about how they had received notification of one illegal internet activity or another and if they did not call in to Midco to explain it then their services would get shut off. This would void and default the customer contract to Midco. Making the customer liable for the remaining months of services payments in full. However what had actually happened was that Midco decompiled the records that they keep of their clients activities and attempted to use them against their clients. If Midco would care to contest the truth of this I am positive that I can provide them with a copy of the aforementioned letter which I have on hand. Buyer beware.
I have been a customer of Midco since they took over the previous provider. In November, I noticed a significant price increase in my plan although I was receiving less channels in my service. I called and was put on a 2 year plan for a certain set monthly price. Fast forward 4 months, and I receive a bill for an amount exceeding the agreed upon 2 year plan amount. When I inquired, I was told that transmission fees had increased so my plan was increasing. They explained that even though a member of their staff explained the 2 year plan as a certain amount each month that it actually was a dollar amount off. I am disappointed that the company could not honor their word and expects its customers to keep paying more for services that do not improve.
Great service, great customer service. Every time Ive called they are working hard to be polite and helpful.
Zero complaints. Good reliable upstream and downstream connections. When there was an outage, once in the last three years, it was resolved within and hour. Much better than the available UVerse in Lawrence.
Amanda was very friendly and quickly took care of all my questions. Thanks again Amanda!! 🙂
Got the runaround three or four different times, worst customer service I have ever dealt with.Definitely go with AT&T or somebody different. Tried it again and got another run around. Jennifer from midco is horrible. Making fun of people is a horrible way to do buisness. Cant even reach out to me, you guys expect me to contact you??? Im gonna contact At&T. Going with a real company. Look at how many times people have clicked 1 star!!!! Avoid at all costs
Devils Advocate, unpopular opinion review: I have had virtually no problems with Midco Cable Internet service since I moved here in July of 2018.When I did run into problems, the primary cause was my own networking equipment, which directly connected to the bare cable modem. The only other issue was very rare disconnections for a week or two on end that were remedied with a cable modem power cycle. It happened a few times, and that was it. -- It is important to make sure that you get the latest cable modem from them, for technical reasons that have less to do with speed -- and more to do with how your internet connection performs when its being slammed by your devices, basically. -- I cant possibly recommend renting a cable modem + wireless router combo from them unless you are living in a house away from a bunch of other wireless networks -- and have very few devices on WiFi. This isnt Midcos fault necessarily. -- Its complicated...I have only lived in one part of Lawrence so far. Its quite possible that their network is segmented around town and has congestion problems elsewhere. -- I have no way of knowing that for sure.Sadly, much low-end consumer networking equipment is mediocre at best. I have a feeling that a $50 wireless router from Wal-Mart just isnt going to cope well with the speed tiers Midco can deliver (slow 20 megabit max upload speed aside as a limitation to their current network design aside) -- not to mention do well with more than a couple of devices at a time. And yes this is on your little wired network, too. -- Every device you plug in as wired or connect on your little wireless network takes up RAM and CPU use on your little router. (Essentially, the connections all of your devices generate add-up. Your laptop might have dozens at once, depending upon what you are doing. The connections are more source -> destination -- picture a spreadsheet visually. Not necessarily one connection per web page. Its more complex than that.) It is VERY easy to crash one, and have it freeze up for minutes on end -- resulting in a strong WiFi signal, but no connectivity. (This is an oversimplification, but its one thing that can go wrong.)I am not at a network administrator nor architect. That said, this is the set-up I have that is rock-solid in a super crowded apartment building:-Hitron Cable Modem -> Intel Dual-NIC -> OpnSense on a cheap low-end Celeron desktop tower -> Consumer-grade, unmanaged switch -> Wired devices plug in there, as does a single, Aruba IAP-207.Obviously this setup is not $100 worth of gear, and has a steep learning curve. But trust me -- when you reach that level for your little home network, the results will speak for themselves. -- If you cant go that route, then at least consider a high-end consumer wired + wireless router. And keep devices that sit in one spot on a wired connection. :)
Ive had Midco for a year, after switching from AT&T. With my old provider, I was plagued with problems and unhelpful customer service. Now, with Midco, I havent had any issues. Recently, my promotional discount expired, and when I called in, the billing and sales teams were very helpful in explaining my bill and possible routes forward. My internet speed is good and I feel like if I ever ran into issues in the future, customer service would be immediately helpful. Midco is the way to go.
Not only am I paying an arm and a leg for this WiFi, but I can run a marathon before it gets through 15 minutes of Netflix. Multiple times I have called this company to take a look and the guy they sent did absolutely nothing. I would rather spend $100/month to hire someone to do all my google searches and internet work than pay that price for WiFi and deal with this company.
MIDCO is the WORST internet company EVER. If theyre the only thing offered where you live, youll want to live somewhere else.Seriously? If reaching out to the rep at your 1-800 customer service number got me nowhere, why the hell would I reach out to your Facebook page? Is your Facebook page run by a different company???
Aaron went beyond what I expected in installing my internet service for my company Blue Duck Plumbing. He did a great job placing the cable. If ever I need to have one of their techs I will request him.
Ive been a customer with this cable company since Sunflower (15+ years), while I saw a significant improve when Micdo took over WoW, I also saw significant price increase and excuse over excuse, and lately, to enforce their customers to install their TiVo system, they constantly sending a reset signal to the old DVRs to make our life mislabel. while I understand update are required, I think there is a better way to go about that. seriously considering switching. I wish Google would come to Lawrence, many friends in KC are very happy with Google :(
Worst internet I’ve ever had. Unfortunately there is no other option where I live.
Nick Zacharias called me just in time to set up 1gb speed for my home! I have been wanting to upgrade and he made the process easy and quick. Thanks again!
These people are somehow worse than AT&t.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
I had a problem that I dont have anymore. I mean it was a service call, but it got handled.
Constantly getting service interruptions, volume will go out on several channels, internet will go out for 30 min or more the channels will dissapear, sometimes it wont display the guide at all..but if Im a so much as a min late paying the bill they know how to turn it off.
Nickolas Zacharias was so helpful and professional. He went above and beyond to help me with my many questions. He was such a pleasure to work with.
Absolutely terrible company we pay for the most expensive package and I could barely load this review page. Workers don’t care and corporate cares even less.
Ive noticed monthly payments fluctuate.
Inconsistent internet, randomly will have very slow speeds, not the best of service, only thing i can say is a good experience was when the guy came to help set up/replace the router we had that was having issues great guy but thats about it
Its a good internet
It was a very positive experience visiting Midco today. The place was nicely decorated, and very clean. We received prompt customer service. The friendly staff was very informative, and not only got us out of there quickly but saved us money also. Well done!
Service is spotty, unreliable and honestly pretty slow all things considered. You would be better advised to use AT&T.
Tavares was wonderful- thanks for all your help!!
If i could rate zero stars i would the last 2 weeks have been hell service has been spotty at best and im still expected to pay full price for it even though they cant keep their network running
TLDR: Service is awesome. Customer Service is hit or miss. Online payment portal is very delayed.NOTE, the service itself has been awesome. I work from home full time and my partner and I both use a lot of devices and are streaming almost constantly. We almost never have issues with the service itself.HOWEVER, be warned. If you set up autopay, it can take 4-6 business days for those payments to process through their system. Long story short, my autopayment didnt go through because by the time it tried to actually process from my bank account, the funds werent there. I thought it had already been paid and went grocery shopping, which was my fault for not being more aware of what was coming and going from my bank account. I was slapped with a $30 rejection fee, still had to pay the full bill for November, and they added on Decembers bill as well, plus another $30 rejection fee due to my repayment not processing quick enough. Again, I messed up and assumed they had already taken the payment from my back account. The service package I have is about $60-$80 a month depending on usage, so by now I have fees that are equivalent to a whole months bill. ANOTHER NOTE, customer service is a mixed bag. After almost 3 weeks, Im still working back and forth with them to get my account caught back up, and I have had a mixed experience depending on the rep I get when I call or they call me. Ive talked to 4 different reps, and 3 out of 4 have been awesome, understanding, straight-to-the point, and flexible with me. However, all it took was one bad rep to send me into a panic attack over the phone. I understand that the reps are just doing their jobs, but having more compassion for people who are obviously struggling financially in the middle of this crazy time really does go so far. Im not saying I wanted a discount or for the fees to drop off my account. I understand the repercussions of my mishaps. Just some decency and kindness instead of gaslighting me, telling me I havent made any payments since October and all other payments have been rejected (which isnt the case, Ive made partial payments to get caught up that have gone through and are approved). This is why dealing with people on the phone is anxiety inducing. You never know what youre going to get. There is an option to call them directly and pay over the phone, which to my understanding is instantly processed and I will be doing that from now on. If you have the financial means to not end up in this situation, good on you. This is a great service. Otherwise, you have to jump through hoops to keep the service on.
I have been a Midco customer for years, and my service has gotten better every year. Unlike AT&T, I have never been burned by surprise charges on my bill or promised things that arent delivered. My best experience with customer service has come from Nikolas Zacharias. He is extremely knowledgeable and always patient and pleasant. His professionalism exceeds expectations, always. I cant imagine leaving Midco. Thank you, Nikolas!
Horrible experience. Midco customer service acted kind on the phone, but harassed me for late payments that did not exist. This continued for over 6 months. Just get AT&T.
Internet was fine but overpriced. I never received a call or notice of anything wrong after my account was closed out. Several months later, I find out they had sent a bill to collections.
Amanda was a perfect help, as usual!
Helpful staff got what I needed.
Had the best customer service experience thanks to Nick Z. He was extremely upbeat, positive, and very knowledgeable. Despite being in sales he helped me troubleshoot an issue and even followed up the next day to make sure everything was working. Outstanding service!!!
Its just like all cable companies you have to watch all their sneaky little promos. People are nice that work at the retail store. The guy who hooked my cable up sat for 45 minutes watching Wheel of Fortune. He ended up screwing my internet password. I have no hard feelings about it. It is Lawrences only cable company.
Good customer service
We get the highest they have and its so slow, it always is going off and on while were watching tv. I cant har itas a wifi for any of our sell phones or our tablets. It really sucks.I wish thesad better and faster internet.
Technician came to house to check up on reception issues. Very professional and knowledgeable.Thank you Bob for your great service!
First off, the customer service is okay - they are better than most places. Unfortunately the product is rather poor. Ive had an issue with the stability of my connection for nearly 2 months now. My connection will randomly disconnect and it has nothing to do with my equipment. A technician came out and checked all of the wiring and connections and everything is fine. After speaking with their customer service and technicians again recently they appear to have found the issue. Apparently there are too many people online in my area at peak hours, so the response of their network is to periodically disconnect me and I assume others that are on our node. How is this acceptable and why has this not been fixed? Supposedly there is a request to expand the amount of traffic that our node can handle, but they are unable to give a timeline for the resolution. Again, the customer service is okay, but the experience itself is rather disappointing.edit: Thats strange, I never received a missed call from you all. The speeds are not the issue. As my post states, the issue is that the internet disconnects frequently during these times.
Michael Norwood was exceedingly professional and friendly. He explained all the information and was knowledgeable. Thank you
Nick Zacharias has been helping me for about a month with my new Midco service and I could not be happier. I have reached out to him multiple times and he has remained patient as well as being extremely knowledgeable about the Midco product. Before install I was told negative things about the company but I can assure you these complaints are off base. Not only is the customer service outstanding, but the internet speeds and the equipment Midco uses is all fantastic. Ask for Nick and choose Midco today!
Nick Zacharias is always super helpful and knowledgeable when he visits my properties. Aberdeen & Alvadora. Our residents love being able to call him directly for troubleshooting. Thank you for having him!! He is the best, so is this service!!
Friendly staff, excellent services, good prices. I have been a happy customer for 3 years!
Every interaction Ive had with Midco in Lawrence has been positive and effective. Their callback service is incredibly helpful. The technician who installed was courteous and knowledgeable. The customer service representatives Ive talked with have all been courteous and knowledgeable as well.
Overpriced! Very overpriced. They charge way to much for cable and equipment. They have snacks when you go in to pay your bill. When you do go into pay your bill its very over priced. The guy called me at home once about my check. I never returned the call but it eventually went through. So I was annoyed he called my house. It is very over priced and the internet is super slow. Very overpriced and very slow
Derek from the main store by Home Depot was super sweet and very helpful. Im looking forward to being a customer with this company if the service is this good every time! Thank you Derek
Midco provided me wonderful services every time. Derek helped me to transfer account to my friends name and I would like to thank him for being so patient and nice.
Nice people
Charging for a modem that should be included with my rent and after a year. Keep charging despite taking it to higher ups. No one knows what anyone else there is doing so its all a cluster F
I have never had such terrible internet service, we lose connection three or four times a day.
Had to visit the office today for some internet stuff. Wait was minimal. Staff didnt force sales. Found me a better deal and was very professional in explaining and teaching. Was pleasantly surprised.
They advertise 100 dollar friend a family discount and then call both paying customers a liar and refuse to provide the credit.Look elsewhere for your Data needs
The help were very nice tonight. Helpful and in a good mood. If I were them, Id be pissed I didnt have a chair to sit down at a register and dont think I could keep a game face up for that long. Help and service have always been good to me.
I called in to find out why my services werent working. Spoke to James and he did not sound like he wanted to answer the phone nor answer my questions. I had to ask probing questions in order to understand what my situation was. He is not proactive in being helpful or explaining what was going on. He seemed as if I shouldve had all the answers before calling. He definitely needs to be coached on real customer service or choose a position where he does not need to interact with people.
I think if Lawrence had a internet provider that supplied the whole town other than Midco they would be out of business. Constant issues that they blame on bs problems. Randomly disconnecting us for no reason when my business is DEPENDANT on them. All I can say is dont depend on them.
Avoid at all costs! My first bill arrived two weeks past the due date. My second bill never arrived. What I did get was a notification of disconnection of service two months after signing up. I returned my device and asked for them to send me the final bill. It too never arrived. What I got instead was a collections notice in late December. They insist they sent out the bills. I came to learn recently this is their MO. Avoid at all costs. Their customer service is so awful. They hate their customers but love their money.
Its an isp, they are a mixed bag, but doing better than the previous names that owned this service area
My business loses money every other day due to their unreliable internet.
Ive called twice now, once to change service packages and once to install a new modem. In each case the Midco employee was courteous, personable, and effective. Wait times were a bit long, but they just took over services from WOW! so I imagine it will calm down soon. For help changing services, Emily was personable and understanding. She did not try to sell me anything or change my mind, and it was a very pleasant experience. Everything that I wanted changed was done within one call. I am very impressed with Midco.
Serviceman Scott helped me to set up four different TVs remotes with all different codes over the phone. He was easy to understand, professional, and very helpful. We like the larger remotes and are thanking you for your help Scott. Could not have got it done without you.
Im VERY displeased. The customer service representative was rude and refused to schedule a technician to come to my home. Only after I threatened to switch to a different provider did they schedule someone. I had 2 issues. Both due to Midco. My DVD player stopped working after my cable box was switched out. My TV stopped working because Midco upgraded their cable box and they didnt hook up my DVD player when they switched cable boxes. I have internet services with Midco which no longer works because they upgraded to a higher speed. I was told I had to buy a new router. So now I have to buy an upgraded router AND pay someone to set it up for me. Theyre WAY overpriced for such poor service. I dont recommend them to ANYONE. RUN!!!!
Good: great social media customer servicePretty stable serviceBad: provides 1/4 or less in speed offered at all times of day everySupport Tech they sent would not stop trying to get us to rent a modem even though our modem is listed as a supported and approved modem and the speed didnt decrease until the day that our service changed from WOW to Midco.Raised price and lowered speed after purchasing WOW. Then provided worse speeds than suggested. It has been months and no improvements. But its the only option to get any speed capable of business level speed (barely)Please do better.
If I had to sum up the quality of service Id have to say that the dial up I had in the 90s was probably superior. Customer service amounts to some dude who knows where basically just guessing that you might get your internet back...eventually. And due to the speed of my connection youll probably never see this review because itll take a damn week to post.
Very quick and helpful
Lawrence, KS. We have only had exceptional service and the data rates and cost are good. It is very unusual for internet to go out. We have had 25 Mbps service (which actually worked great for us even with multiple family members streaming) and just recently 500 Mbps service.
Staff was very nice and made sure I understood everything I needed to do to hook up my box.
The worst customer service Ive ever delt with. They take payments out early. They dont notify of any service interruptions. The staff on the phones yell over you and laugh at you. They dont listen to you when you have any problems. I had my credit card info stolen and it was traced back to information given to an employee at midco. The worst. I do not recommend ever signing up for their services.
Chose to pay more for upgraded Internet service with WOW for better data download speeds. Paying the same under Midco, yet cannot download YouTube videos without significant pauses. Never a problem before Midco.
I was a bit worried when I saw all the negative reviews here but I still set it up as a friend recommended Midco to me. I have to tell you their internet is super fast (consistently 100Mbps on the speed test) and I am so glad I decided to go with Midco. Their employees are very committed and professional as well!
This company does not care and did next to nothing to try and help solve my problem. I have been a Midco customer and recently moved to a new construction in north Lawrence. Was told by two employees “it’s not worth it” to Midco to install service in my home and suggested I wait 30-60 days with no cable or WiFi to see IF corporate will approve the install and if I didn’t want to wait I could just pay for the construction and install myself! I was speechless! A loyal customer with a legitimate issue and was basically told I am not worth the hassle and just to wait indefinitely to see if they decide they want to help. Shameful and unacceptable!!
Great customer service
Friendly staff, no problems with internet since I got their service 3 years ago; competitively priced.
Just switched out my old WOW cable boxes for new Midco boxes and Derick was amazing! So helpful and pleasant AND he saved me $50 per month! And I love the new Customer Service area!Thank you @MidcoLawrence for great customer service!
To my surprise, I actually had a great experience with Midco. All of the representatives I worked with were great about getting me a good deal that fit my needs. At one point, I was changing addresses and they informed me that I could increase my internet speed but also decrease my cost. Sure enough, when I got everything configured at my new address, my download speeds were much faster. When I needed to cancel my service due to a move across the country, I wasnt charged any bogus fees, the process was seamless, and I even got a slight refund from some pro-rated internet service fees.At my address, the connection was very consistent. I have known people whose service was supposedly less consistent but I cannot speak to that. Their online support chat was great and allowed any discussion to be recorded in writing. Overall, I support choosing Midco despite the reviews from others.
The 800 number costumer service SUCKS!! so I went in the store and paid my bill and was telling Tava (the lady who was helping us) what was wrong and also told her that the people over the 800 number told me they wouldnt send a tech out because it was a waste of their time and nothing could be fixed to make my internet work at the speed it supposed to be she said that they are crazy set me up with a tech on Monday Jason (the tech) came Wednesday he changed something told me the right equipment was put in and there would be a night and day difference. the People in the store are very helpful but i would stray away from calling the 800 number.
There are regular brown outs for internet service when the speed drops off or cuts off altogether. Their service went down in my area recently and it took over a day to restore. Never got an explanation and the phone call they promised once it was reconnected came another 24 hours AFTER it was already restored. My modem is one I purchased personally but somehow made it on their records as owned by Midco.... So now I pay rent on my own modem. And they just upped the price of the modem lease. Their reasoning? Because they want to provide great service. How does charging more for a modern lease make their already shoddy service get better? Funny. Its just sad that they are the only option for internet in my area.
My initial interactions with Midco were a little rocky, but after a conversation with someone from customer care I was highly pleased with the effort the company is taking to resolve issues. I understand the transition from WOW to Midco wont be completely seamless, but once all kinks are resolved during the transitional phase Midco will be the best cable provider Lawrence has had in a while. Thanks for your help Ken!
Midco is a good company that cares about their product, they will send out a rep and not charge you. please ignore the negative reviews as Midco took over Lawrences internet servicing from two other really poorly run companies and they are doing what they can to fix all the problems that came with taking over an entire area that has not been maintained properly. I asked them to run a single wire from the pole to my modem and they did without question. Also At&t is a nightmare to work with.
Solid and reliable internet service; Im on the 1 Gb/s package and routinely see test results above 700 Mb/s. Customer service has always been helpful and efficient.Docking one star because of the asymmetry between upload and download speeds. Id happily give half of my downstream to double my upstream (from 1000/20 to 500/40), 20 Mb/s up is just not enough. I realize that there are technical requirements in buildout of the physical network, but this really needs to be a priority for the future. Cloud based storage and backup services are far less useful without a good upstream pipe.
Great customer service and a wonderful staff to help you quickly with your needs
Pretty positive Bin Ladin had faster internet speeds in his caves than midco offers
I paid my bill but they are saying I didn’t but they took it out of my account so now I have to go print out my bank statement fax it and dispute it when I don’t even have the time for all of that! It’s ridiculous!
Such a relief to finally have a fast connection in Lawrence. My speeds are over 500 Mbps on a wired connection. I wasted money with AT&T for 2 years on a connection that rarely broke 25 Mbps. Thank you Midco. Your technician was great as well.
Every time I have had an issue and called to get it fixed, Midco staff has always been very courteous and helpful in resolving my issues quickly and efficiently. Great people to work with!
Trying to help a friend establish service and their 888 number doesnt have an option for that! I am currently 20 minutes into holding for technical support, because that is the only option that would allow me to speak to a human without me giving them my account number!!! Seriously! How can I give them an account number if I DONT HAVE AN ACCOUNT. Oh I long for Sunflower Broadband!!!
