I wanted to “rejuvenate” our 2005 Forester with 130K miles on it. The mechanic’s video inspection report was sent promptly and all issues identified were shown and the recommended repairs were explained. My subsequent questions were answered quickly, via text. All requested repairs and services were completed ahead of the proposed tume, which was a very pleasant surprise. I am happy to bring my cars from Kansas City to McCarthy Subaru in Lawrence for service due to the professionslism, courtesy, and quality of service they provide.

Overall everything was great. However there’s a couple of concerns. The first one is statements on the inspection record in which are inaccurate. The second one is the potential to affect future maintenance. Now for the good and ahead of the curve in dealership administration. The videos of the vehicle are excellent and very useful. The iService is phenomenal and the best I’ve seen. I used every phase of this service. Next, service advisor Kyle is awesome and an asset to the dealership. His technical knowledge is far superior to most in the business. I will request Kyle every time in the future. The dealership Subaru service department did a marvelous job on our Outback. It was a 60,000 mile major service. They provided digital video documentation of what they found, and what they needed to do before they started the work. I was able to pay online. The staff was courteous and thorough.

I was making an appointment and they asked me if I had the parts. Seriously? That is their responsibility to get the parts. Strike 1. Another time I brought in a tire and they tried to say the nail was to close to the wall and couldnt be fixed. It was a good 2 inches away from the side, I disagreed and they got it fixed. Strike 2.They have lost my business. I never had these issues under the previous owners.

This was my first visit to McCarthy Subaru and it was AWESOME!! They were prompt and on time. The service manager explained everything very well. He answered all of my questions. The video tour of my inspection was a great tool. I could see everything the technician checked on and he explained the condition of each area.They even washed my car when they were finished. Nobody does that much extra customer service anymore.While I was waiting, I overheard another customer that had purchased a vehicle elsewhere say she was coming back to get a new vehicle at McCarthy because she missed how well she was treated there. That made me feel really good about McCarthy Subaru.I will be back.Went back to have body side molding installed and the service did not disappoint. Prompt and on-time. Way to go McCarthy Subaru!!

They checked over everything I hadn’t thought to look at. I originally went in to have an oil change, but they found other issues that needed service. Like a burned out tail light, torn and worn out wipers, and some age showing on my serpentine belt. Overall a great experience and I’ll return for future services.

Great place to get Subaru services. Recently bought a pre-owned Crosstrek Subaru. Without asking, they checked to see if it had any recalls and it had multiple. They fixed all of them. I was concerned about my brakes, so they checked them for free. Excellent communication throughout. They also use video to show you repairs and oil changes on your car. I have never had someone explain the inner workings of my car so well. I will only ever take my car to this place.

Service was a recall replacement of an electronic rear lift gate module. Was going toleave the vehicle to pick up later, but they were able to get it in and do it while I waited. Only took approximately 30 min.total. That was excellent. Saved a trip back. Great service so far!

Very clean and professional. Had my Crosstrek in for a recall issue and the had it in and out in the time predicted. They also topped off all fluids and washed it. They took excellent care of me and my Subie. Will be back in the future for scheduled maintenence.

We love McCarthy Subaru!!! Kyle in the service department, and his team, will take care of you like family. He always is up front with his recommendations, an estimate for service and what he thinks is best for the longevity of the vehicle. He understands how the Midwest weather extremes (humid, hot summers and cold, dry winters) affect how your Subaru runs and what to do to ensure your Subaru will be on the road for a long time. The technicians on the team are great and recently we got to watch our technician look “under the hood,” at the brake pads, rotors etc with the iService video that they used to film the inspection and then they send you a link to be able to view it. They also use text reminders and phone call reminders for appointments and are really easy to work with as far as scheduling.

Took 2.5 hours for a SCHEDULED oil change while my husband was waiting. No communication about why it was taking so long. Didn’t really seem to care when questioned why it was taking so long and when it would be done. Won’t be returning. Driving to KC and back will still be quicker than this place.

Staff was kind and attentive but struggled in explaining what they found. I mentioned a drumming sound when I turn sharp corners. They tried to work on it but its worse now than when I brought it in. I really like the video that is texted from the mechanic.

I have had the 30,000 and 60,000 service done at McCarthy Subaru and have been very satisfied. Twice i had my Forester in with no charge when they adjusted my lights and got my hood unstuck. This time they replaced a rear wheel bearing but had damaged the tire pressure sensor in the process. They replaced the sensor for free since they inadvertently damaged it while giving me a 2921 Ascent as a loaner. Very nice and honest. I will go back for my 90,000 maintenance.

The first thing Id like to comment on was the excellent friendliness and professionalism I experienced throughout my repair. The serpentine belt on my 2014 Subaru BRZ failed on the way home from work. I had the car towed to their location and gave them info on who was delivering and the approximate eta. They called me to let me know they had the car and would start on it as soon as they could. They also sent me a link to see updates on my repair or communicate with the technician working on it. Important to note that they also sent me an inspection video, narrated by the person who did the walk around /diagnosis. I reached back out to them approving the work called out in the video. There were some other minor things they recommended getting done. It was not a laundry list of every little thing and were all important so gave the greenlight but asked to let me know if they found anything else and obtain my approval on those before fixing. The Parts came in and car was repaired on time and for what was quoted. When they heard I was actually in the hospital after the car had been dropped off (unrelated to my car) they expressed their personal concerns via text and shared what felt like Were sincere well-wishes.Overall the experience was flawless and I will use them for any work or service on my car. They helped reduce the stress of a very stressful week and I really appreciate it. Top notch service and used technology in communications, all matched with well experienced and friendly personnel!

I took my car in for just an oil change but then they came back with several other things that needed to be fixed. Rightly so, the cabin and engine filters needed to be changed, but I felt it was extremely over priced for the work it would take. I did not have them change the filters because I purchased $34 worth of parts and I changed them both in less than five minutes. Their quote was nearly $110 for both filters. However they were always nice, professional and thorough.

Had some pretty bad damage to the control frame. Took it to another auto shop but they said they couldn’t find the parts and that I might have to wait months. Went to Subaru and the had my car fixed up in a little over a week. Sent me updates on the progress and a video that showed everything wrong. Very thankful to have my car back so quickly and running smoothly.

***UPDATE***I am downgrading to one star because I got a second opinion from another auto shop. With the second opinion, I believe I may have been given false information by McCarthy to encourage paying for an unnecessary service. McCarthy also gave me a good dose of fear mongering to make me feel like if I did not return for further service in a hurry, I would be in danger driving my vehicle.-original review-I can give five stars for getting the job done. However, come prepared to play the usual game of upselling and guilt-tripping you to come crawling back for future service. After my experience, I’ve spoken with locals and discovered the stealership reputation of this particular location.To be fair, I had a good experience the year before, so I cannot say this location is outright bad. Stay cautious, folks.

Booked appointment online the night prior, and was greeted by associate upon arrival and reviewed all details of the scheduled service. Oil change and tire rotation was completed in a timely manner and I was able to wait with my dog in their lobby. Very professional and courteous. I wouldn’t take my Subaru anywhere else.

I dropped of my vehicle for a 24K mile service and to check on a squeaky seat. I was told the seat got fixed and it was not so I had to dropped the car off a second time, that took a week.When I dropped it off the second time they sent me a video of their technician performing the 24K mile inspection which leads me to believe that they did not performed it when I dropped it off the first time.The service manager talked to me in a very condescending tone and he assumed I do not understand about cars and maintenance not knowing I am a Motörhead that can school him.Overall a bad experience and I do not have the warm and fuzzies that my car was taken cared of correctly.

I had issues with my Subaru. I called and was put in contact with Kyle. When I took my car in, I had no idea what the problems were. He and his team of techs worked efficiently and thoroughly to figure out what my issues were, and how to do it cost effectively. I was given constant updates on how the car was, and easy to understand explanations of what was happening internally. I am usually wary of car mechanics, but have total trust in Kyle and the folks at Subaru now.

McCarthy performed regular maintenance on my 2011 Outback. Since my last service at McCarthy, they moved into a new facility and incorporated more technology into the customer experience. While I was at home, my tech advisor communicated with me via text (quicker responses), and the service technician shot a video explaining what parts looked good and what needed attention. Impressive! And my Subaru was well treated.

Service = bearings bad. Mccarthy Subaru is all about sales and money. It used to be the service shop was low key, knew you and your vehicle when you came in for service. I appreciated that very much- personal touch. Now its all about you need this and this, etc. The guy didnt even look that my oil change isnt due for another 3000 miles or that I bought my tires there and have free rotation. One time I came in and he wanted to charge me for it. Yes I need a 90000 mile check up, but several of those things I dont need done. Lost confidence in this business.

Took for oil change and slight noise. Oil change good. Told noise due to bad wheel bearing and they have part to fix it that day. Had both rear wheel bearings replaced 4 months ago. Took to shop where bearings were replaced. Put up on rack and showed me bearings are good. Took to different shop who also said bearings good. Subaru charged $70 for misdiagnosis. Called twice and left message with no response. Not hard to figure out what Is going on.

We called on Saturday because my 2017 legacy would not start. We had taken it to be diagnosed at an auto parts store and the machine said it was the starter. Since the car was only 3 years old, it was hard to believe that it was the starter. The Technician had a hard time figuring out what the issue was after ruling out the battery. He finally was able to figure out it was the starter. Chad was very helpful and has been helpful every time we have come in. After getting home, we realized that with the extended warranty, we could get a rental car. I asked and was told they didnt have a loaner car and some would be brought back on Tuesday. The part was supposed to be ordered on Saturday. I called on Tuesday and was told that the part was not ordered on Saturday and that it was ordered on Tuesday and that it would take 2 days to come in. I asked about a rental car and was told that they didnt have one. I asked how many car lots did they have and couldnt they get one from them and was told they couldnt get one from another one. I had to borrow a car so I could get to and from work. The employee I spoke to was condescending. I called on Thursday to see if the car was finished. I was told it would be ready at 5:45. A few minutes later, my husbands phone rang and he was told that the battery was now bad. It was fine when we brought it in. It never dropped below 12 volts, even after sitting for 2 1/2 days. He asked if it could be jump started and we would go buy a battery. He was told it wouldnt start. We didnt have any choice but to buy a battery and also be charged labor to put it in. We will not be back to your dealership for service (we only used this one for everything) or to buy another new car (we have bought 3 and are in the process of looking for one).

The service was set for 7.am The service dept did not open till around 7:10. I drove in from Olathe. I have mentioned this before so it’s old news. The service estimators at McCarthy Chev always alerted customers to discounts and applied them this is really a great retention tool. Kept me there for over 10 years. When I mentioned this to the service estimator he seemed surprised I would bring it up. So service all up average. I come to McCarthy because of my experience with your Chevy dealership and I am seeing a difference that is making me question my decision. Call me anytime.

Absolutely terrible service. Incredibly unprofessional. Our car died on the highway on our way home from visiting family (with our 18 month old with us). We had to arrange towing and a rental car for ourselves out of our own pocket, even though we bought a $20k vehicle from this place and were still under warranty. Getting anyone on the phone to let us know what was going on was like pulling teeth. Kept being transferred to a line that would ring and ring and no one would answer, then the call would just disconnect. Communication within the dealership also seemed nonexistent. It took 6 days for them to tell us we needed a new battery. The whole ordeal was so incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We will continue to buy Subaru’s but definitely NOT from this dealership. If you’re looking to buy a Subaru, save yourself the trouble and just go to Olathe.

We dropped my daughter’s car off to have her brakes replaced after an oil service company informed us her brakes were nearly worn out. The McCarthy service department pullEd her car in and inspected the brakes noting her brakes were still at over 50%. Honesty goes a long way with me, we’ll be back when she actually needs brakes. I made an appointment online for a recall. The dealership is at 1:30 hour away. They didn’t have the piece for the recall when I got there.They did the 36,000 checkup and wheels rotation etc. it took 3:00 hours. I received good service. I was however disappointed that they didn’t have the piece. I think they should have called me To re schedule the appointment for me to go once instead of 2.

McCarthy Subaru just put in a brand new engine in my 13 Legacy and I couldnt be happier.We has my wifes 2020 Outbacks windshield replaced and McCarthy did a fantastic job, however Kennedy windshield repair broke a couple things. But Kyle our service advisor was on top of it, it took about 2 months to complete but I believe McCarthy Subaru is still the place to bring in your new or used cars for service.

100+ degree heat and humidity. I have breathing problems and humidity really bothers me. I was not allowed into the waiting room while my oil was changed because I couldnt wear a mask because I have breathing problems! I will not be coming back to the Subaru dealer in Lawrence just because of that.

We needed our eyesight system calibrated after a minor fender bender. It was supposed to take 1-2 hours and ended up taking until the next day with minimal communication. It was very difficult to reach anyone in service for an update. Once the calibration was done, the blind spot detection still wasn’t working. They told me I would need to replace the number which only had some scratches and 1 small crack. I took the car back to the body shop and they think the sensor is not working which should have been figured out in the calibration process. They do not think the damage to the number would cause a working sensor to malfunction.
