I I should have read the reviews prior to scheduling. Made a 1pm appt for an oil change. Let them know the brakes and tires were new 5k ago but had noticed some pulsing when braking. Fairly routine appt. Having worked in a dealership for 4yrs in prior years the response prompted me to get my keys and go. He did not consult a time(which is fine). So I asked if had an approximate wait time. The reply was, We close at 6... I contemplated not leaving a review b/c there are so many bad ones that clearly have made no difference. I didnt leave 1 star b/c they gave my keys back when I asked without hesitation at 1:40pm. Car still untouched for an oil change.
I don’t know why they make appointments if they’re not ready for you on, or near, your appointment time. Showed up to get a flat fixed that was under warranty (was told 30-45 min tops), they told me it would be two hours. Wasted a lunch break going there for no reason... reminded me why I didn’t buy the last two tires I bought from them. No call to say they were backed up, nothing. Discount tire will continue to get my business from now on... never had that problem, cheaper, better warranty, better service. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
Took my car in as soon as they opened for an alignment. I just bought two tires Thursday and they tried to tell me they could not align my vehicle because there was wire showing. There is no wire showing and they wasted my entire day and now I have to drive to work with my unsafe car. Thank you Firestone for thinking I am a female and I will just fork over $400 for new tires. Going to d&d tire because they’re honest and respectful to women.
Terrible customer service. As a woman they will absolutely try and take advantage of you. Several of my friends in the Lawrence area have had bad experiences here.ON TOP of terrible customer service, while getting an oil change, a mechanic by the name of John left my Civic’s brake reservoir cap off. There is NO REASON this should have been done. Went back to the store with a complaint, they said there is no way to prove that John left it off. Went to the dealership and had to pay $100 for a brake fluid flush. There’s a jiffy lube next door. Go there.
Buyer beware. They quoted him $700 and the actual price was $1700. We asked for two new tires installed for. They did more than authorized. Buyer beware.
Wont be coming back. Used to have good service. Last 2 times have been disappointing to say the least. Spent 2 hours there this morning for a brake bleed and E-brake adjustment. E-brake still not adjusted correctly. Brake pedal still go to the floor. In addition while I was waiting I got to listen to the guy behind the counter say things to the female customers like, you changed the tire all by yourself? Super cringy...
Set up an online alignment appointment for my truck which required I give the details of my truck for the appointment. They accept the appointment and then when I go in for the alignment they inform me they cant offer me the lifetime alignment deal on a HD truck and that they could re-quote an alignment. First of all it takes 2 minutes to call someone to tell them you cant do it instead of just accepting the appointment letting them waste there time coming in and then try to charge them more for the job when you already had the vehicle info and accepted the job. NOT HARD! Nowhere did it mention it could not be done on my truck. Stop trying to scam people and just run an honest business or find new employees that actually care.
After attempting to get a timely appointment elsewhere, I was able to get my car in right away. The service was excellent and prices competitive.
They did the work that Id asked of them but they tried to add on a bunch of services I didnt need
Worst experience every time. They would just make your car leak oil or something and say you have gasket leak. Every car I took there was given estimate of 4k to fix lol how does that make sense. I would like to give a 0 star tbh.
Brought in a car for tire rotation and it was returned with the engine lights on. Horrible service.
Came in at 1 p.m. to do a tire balance. Got a call at about 2 p.m. explaining they recommended new tires. I notified them I would not be doing that today and asked them how much longer it would take on my tire balance. Considering I was waiting outside in 80 degree weather I was hoping a 30 minute job would not take 2 hours. Upon arrival, I was taken to my vehicle and explained that my back tires were bald and there was a concern for my safety. In fact, I do know what a bald tire looks and feels like. My tires will need changed soon, not that soon. Then I was told that my vehicle had an oil change, rotation, and balance. I was ONLY there for a balance. Then, I was notified they did absolutely no service on my vehicle, due to two bald tires. Ok, so the tires that werent bald, could have been balanced, easily. I waited for 2 hours in the heat for absolutely nothing. Never coming back here again.
Did what they said they would on my car and were professional. Turned my car in at 8:30 said it would be done by 12, I showed up and waited till 2... So uh good luck if your pressed on time. I did take a good nap in their loby tho.
I had a tire repaired at Firestone this afternoon. Service was friendly and timely. Leaving town, I noticed my tire pressure sensor was still on. When I got home, I checked tire pressure in all tires. The tire that was repaired had 45 lbs pressure when it should have been 35 lbs. The pressure on two of the other tires was fine. One tire was at 29 lbs. So not only did the rep over inflate one tire, he didnt check the other tires nor did he check the sensor. Not a happy customer!
Good work on my front end.
This is the worst place ever to service your car. They are never good with time. I have tried them twice and have the same experience. I thought the first time experience was just one of those unfortunate random things that would happen once in awhile. I never realize that this untimely attitude is ingrained in their system. I was told my car will be ready in 1h, walked around to hangout only to come back and my car was not ready. I had to take my car from them and find another shop. Note i scheduled an appointment and came in 15 minutes to my appointment. And I counted the 1 hr as from my appointment time.Second time was basically the same thing. i asked them and they said it will be ready in 1h30 minutes. well, that is enough buffer to do things for them. I called them after 2 hours, only to say that they are just taking my car in for work. I was like really? I have appointments men. It is so absurd. I have to borrow a car to run my errands and meet up my appointment.I will never go back to any Firestone and I pray never to be forced to use their service ever again. They are very horrible. And as per the sticker placed on cars after service, they put a sticker just with my current mileage, no next service date or mileage to be service next. That made me question if they even did any oil change. Anyways, that is not a good proof but I just feel that des not show any professionalism. This is a follow up review on 1/18/2020: It happens that I was right about my suspicion/doubt of if my car engine oil was even changed. I barely drove 1000 miles before my car manitenance required light came on. This is interesting and I will be taking my car back for inspection at my regular shop. I will let you guys know the outcome of it. But in the meantime, I want you to know that I regret using Firestone service and given the opportunity, I will never had gone there. In the meantime, please stay away if you really love your car. Several factors determine the lifespan of your cars, one of the major factors is who you have work on or service your car. Please stay away from Firestone!!!
I have had nothing but great service, and experience with them
Above and beyond my expectations! I had a flat tire and Firestone fixed it right away. Great with communication and treated respectfully.
Terrible experience. I used them for our company’s fleet so I decided to use them for my personal vehicle. I can in on a donut to have my tire repaired and put back on. They did and sent me on my way, then my car started shaking terribly on my way home so I called them and they said oh yeah we need to balance it so I was okay why didn’t this happen before but okay I’m coming back. Then my husband asked where they put our spare. I looked for it and they never even gave me back my spare tire. This is not good service. I really have nothing good to say at this point. This has been an all day ordeal. Been messing with this since 10:30 this morning it’s now 3:45pm.
Busted tire at 6:55 and they stayed open and waited for me to walk there to service me quick and friendly even after hours Thanks guys Brian and Jordan
Friendly staff, reasonable price. Liked the place!!
Took appointment for 3p and came there are there was wait time for 2 hrs. So what was the meaning to take appointment.
I needed a battery but ended up not $100.oo just for supposed diagnostics then 149 for battery and install grand total 300, i paid them the $100 jump started my daughters car, got it home charged battery, didnt need new one after all. Waited long time on counter help, not happy felt overcharged.
After botching my simple oil change appointment, they quoted me nearly $2000 for air conditioning repair. I was less than pleased with my service so I went for a second opinion at a dealership. The dealership made my AC like brand new for less than $100. When Firestone called to follow up on why I hadnt scheduled the repair, I explained what happened, they had no answer for the drastic difference but did make me pay for the oil change they had comped (which I believed was due to extremely poor service and miscommunication). Ill never return and encourage you to seek a second opinion before pursuing any work here.
They made me wait more than 30 minutes, just to look at my car for 30 seconds from across a parkinglot and claim they couldnt work on it. Without ever getting close enough to actually discern anything. Very unprofessional, I will be looking else where from now on and you should too.
Quick service and friendly informative staff
Last time I was here was told to wait 2 hours for a scheduled appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. Didnt have a problem with that. I come back 2 and a half hours later and my car just got in the shop. Not to mention that when I walk in I see an employee rolling my tire, then proceeds to talk to someone, gets overexcited about a conversation and forcefully pushes my rim onto the ground rim face down. No damage was done to the rim thankfully but its good to know that my tire and rim were carefully taken care of. After that I had to wait another hour before it was done. Do not go here unless you have to!
Before I move to Lawrence I lived in Junction City. I really enjoyed the Firestone and they were very respectful to me and I trust them. When I move to Lawrence, I was excited to know, that they had a firetone. I went here quite a bit to get my oil changed, since Ive live in Lawrence. I went to go get my oil changed this week. When the man came out he told me, my car was leaking. They would like to do a pressure check, so he asked for my permission. I said, yes. Because I rely on my car to get me to work, because I commute. When he came back out he told me it was my radiator was leaking and needs to be replaced. My first reaction was like what???? I have no leak stains in my garage and my car hasnt been acting funny. So he took me into the garage to show me my radiator. I didnt see anything leaking. We went back into the store he got on the computer and called someone about a radiator part. I did quick search while he was on the phone. It takes 8 to 10 years for a radiator to go bad. My car is 3 years old. when he got off the phone he told me the repairs would cost over $900. I was like ummm...... So I told him Im going to call my warranty, because Im sure they cover this. Its not going to be fixs today. After, I left I made an appointment with Ed Bozarth Chevrolet, because I wanted to get a second opinion. I went there today and there is nothing wrong with my radiator. Im so glad I did that because I could have lost $900. I went ahead and called customer service, because I felt like they should known that there was a mistake that happened. I was very polite to her on the phone, because I knew it wasnt her fault she was just a customer service representative. I just didnt want this to happen to another customer. Because your vehicle is very personal and money doesnt grow on trees. She did tell me DM will call me. I decided to call the shop to let them know that they misdiagnosed my vehicle. The manager reassured me that his technician wasnt wrong. I told him went to get a second opinion. He said that he trusts his technician. I completely understand that he does. Im sure he does a great job. It is possible he made a mistake. The manager told me to get a third opinion. Guess what??? I did just that. There is nothing wrong with my radiator. Do I need to go get fourth opinion???? Im sure the manager a nice guy. Im sure he was defensive because they made a mistake. I understand hes human. I just want them to be aware. And just maybe its a scam, Im not sure. Maybe, trying to pull a fast one over me. Or it was just an honest mistake. I just didnt like to be talk to like I was wrong. The reason I called customer service because I knew the manager would act like this, because its personal to him.
They keep me up with any issues with my vehicle and showed me the problems. Friendly courtesy staff
Don’t got here! Whatever you do just don’t. Got an oil change. Next day my check engine sign pops up. I go back. They say it will be $100 for them to see what’s wrong with it. Next thing you know they say your car (that was in perfect condition) is going to cost between $2000 to $8000 to fix. I say “what???”. The next thing they say is, “We don’t recommend you drive it out of the lot, it’s not worth the fix, if you don’t feel comfortable driving it, you can always sell it to us. ” I took my car and I up state 6 hours without a problem to my hometowns mechanic. He looked at it and said “I don’t know what those guys told you, but their is nothing wrong with your car”. Nothing but scammers.
We were traveling cross country when the tire inflation light came on in our rented vehicle. We tried a gas station which didnt have tire gauges, so we went to Firestone to see if they could sell gauges. They not only gave me a free gauge, but when we explained our situation an employee brought over a professional tire pump, discovered one tire was 6 pounds low (!) and filled all four. When the light remained on, he found another employee who explained it would take several minutes of driving to go off, which was the case. They gave complete strangers excellent attention for a service that they did for free.
Will never go back. Went for a $20 tire repair and was informed that my tire was “not repairable” so I had to buy two new tires. Then I get another call, they need to realign them for another $100. I pay for the new tires and alignment and then ask for my old tires back a few days later due to the fact that I had just got all new tires a few months back so I should not be needing new ones already. I took the tire that “was not repairable” to a tire shop in my hometown where I usually go when I am not in school and they informed me the tire was in fact repairable and I had most likely been scammed out of my money.
I believe people deserve a second chance. After my second experience with Firestone I am convinced that this is the worst place in Lawrence to take your vehicle. No stars!
Very customer service oriented with high quality products. Great local mechanical work and routine maintenance. Mechanics are trained and certified. Tire and battery prices are great, too. Very well managed and staffed. Excellent phone app. Excellent credit available if desired.
I had the cover for my engine hanging down today and didn’t know what to do. The team was able to help me right away free of charge. They reassured me and had me back on the road within 10 minutes.
Prompt, courteous service, competitively priced. COVID-19 compliant business. Wheelchair accessible.
Ive been to this shop twice in the past year, and both times Ive left frustrated with my overall experience. I have quite a few years of experience in a shop, and do regular maintenance on my car. The first time I visited this location, I had hit a curb and threw my alignment out. I asked them to check the numbers and show me so I could decide what to do. When I asked them to only align the front wheels because the toe (a tire wearing angle) was off, they told me it was not possible unless I aligned all 4. While I was frustrated with this answer because I myself have aligned only the front tires and it is 100% possible to do, and visited another shop in Lawrence that aligned only the front tires, i understand there are company polices. It is also worth noting I was misdiagnosed with a bent subframe (again, only shop to diagnose that as the issue), a job much more costly than an alignment. My most recent visit, however, will be my last visit to this location. I had a flat and was desperate so I came here since they were the only ones open. I asked for it to be inspected BUT NOT REPAIRED and was told to leave it overnight outside on the rocks so they could do it in the morning. After receiving a call that my tire was ready, I came down to pick it up. I was told I owed 30 dollars even though I had not authorized any work to be done other than an inspection on the tire. When I asked what was wrong with the tire, I was told it was leaking from the bead, again not being told what work was done. Frustrated again with the lack of communication, I paid the 30 dollars and change my own tire outside of the establishment in 15 degree weather in fear of being charged again and not being informed. I cant speak for any of their other services, but if you have tire trouble just keep rolling to discount tire because at least they will offer to put your tire back on, let alone listen to the customer and recieve prior approval. I dont normally leave reviews, but I was just baffled that within an 18 month span the customer service still has not changed.
My boyfriend got an inspection for his car, and they tried to say the left front axle needed to be replace. However that’s a lie because he just got it changed 2 months ago. They also said his car had no oil and didn’t even advise him to put oil in his car before leaving the lot. So they let him drive home with a dry engine (which might have cause the engine to seize). They also told him he needed new tires even though he bought them 9 months ago......
Been here 3x and none of them have gone smoothly. First two times were for the same problem. This time for an oil change. Was almost 40 min after my appointment time that the vehicle was even brought into the garage despite being told it would be pulled into the garage in just a couple of minutes. If I didnt have to come here I wouldnt.
Very nice staff, quick, efficient and friendly. Good price
Very polite and helpful staff. Quality work.
While driving through the area our trailer lost it’s tread. The crew at this shop helped us quickly and had us back in the road in less than an hour.
Mr. Steve was an absolute pleasure to work with. Very professional, great conversationalist to pass time, and so, so friendly. Everyone in the shop worked together amazingly, and it was a treat! Thank you so much!!!!!!
3 hours later we got a new tire mounted on the rim. That is all we needed. We could of put the tire on ourselves. They knew we were traveling and trying to make it home and i had told Steve on the phone we blew the tire on the highway. He had acted all sympathetic on the phone and come over and we will get you fixed right up. 2.5 hrs later the manager came over asking what we were waiting on. They then got it all done within 25 mins. Not impressed. Should of bought the tire and took it elsewhere to get put on. Now we know. We will not be returning if we are ever in the area and need something.
Originally my post was positive now it goes to Negative. I am giving 2 stars only because Steve really tried and believes in his product. Unfortunately the car i brought to them had more problems than what they searched. They kept the car for 3 to 4hrs and found issues with the vehicle, but apparently the water pump and cracked head was not apart of that visual or diagnostic check. The car was old and i do give it that, but i am quite sure that when you run these checks on older cars you would think that they would be able to detect things better with sound and intuition rather than using science and machines all the time.I am disappointed that i spent this kind of money to these people and now my kids car is broke down 2hrs from home and not able to be drivin. Thanks Steve you tried your best... im sorry that i have to remain hating Firestone and now it is fully banned from my life and i will NEVER suggest going there again.
I have been burned by a lot of local mechanic shops, and these guys truly make me feel like Im in good hands. I wont go anywhere else as long as I live in Kansas! Mack (I think?) is so kind, and shows genuine concern for the people who frequent the place, and every clerk and mechanic Ive spoken to walked passed have been nothing but respectful. On top of excellent customer service, they DEFINITELY know what theyre doing. I have full confidence in these guys. They really seem to enjoy their atmosphere.
I’ve always went to Firestone for my cars, but the guys at this location are hands down the nicest dudes I’ve ever met. The are always super friendly when I go in, always have time to get my car in, and never make me feel like they are just out to get my money. I highly recommend this location, they aren’t just mechanics, they’re awesome people too.
First day waited for ever. But the service is very thorough and help knew what the were doing. Unfortunately i understand that an employee that was beyond helpful to me is not with this company anymore. Not the cheapest, but diagnostics were very thorough down to the wiper blades of which I can change.
Called on a Sunday to see if we could scheduled an appointment to get a set of tires mounted and balanced. The employee that answered the phone said they could. Scheduled an appointment for Wednesday afternoon. Get there for the appointment and the employee at the counter asked if the tires were new because if they were not they would not mount and balance them. Employee comes back a few minutes later and said that the manager would not do it because the tires are used. Extremely upset that they wasted my day and time. The shop needs to better train their employees to communicate there policies better so that I don’t waste my time on their shop and can look for a shop in town that wants my business. Haven’t ever had any good experiences with the shop. Always have to have my stepdad deal with them.
Ive been a dedicated customer to this Firestone for 4 years now . They have always been very friendly and helpful. Steve and Mike go above and beyond to make sure any issues or confusion is addressed and handled in a professional manner. I recommend this location to any and everyone looking for great service and quality work. Thank you Firestone team.
They serviced my brakes. The staff here is prompt and professional. I would recommend.
I had a good experience with this Firestone off of Iowa Street. Their customer service is good. I really get the impression they are trustworthy and are not just going to try to sell you something you do not need or up charge you. In fact I found they trimmed the cost on some items where they could have tried to stick it to me. If they recommend changing the transmission fluid or something along those lines its most likely because its recommended by the manufacturer at a certain mileage, not just something they make up.I would recommend them to friends and family.
I do not recommend Firestone at all. I had them check my brakes because they were more touchy than normal. They told me my front rotors were completely worn away and that there was nothing left of the brake pads either. They quoted me at $375 and offered $50 off. I ended up taking my car to Slimmers on 23rd, a place that came highly recommended. They told me I have a lot of life left in my front brake pads, that I should just continue to get them checked whenever I have the oil changed & recommended that I have the drums on the back breaks cleaned for $60.
We have taken our vehicles to Firestone for quite a few things. This time around our vehicle was having trouble with the air conditioning. We paid for a vehicle inspection as well as the repairs on the air conditioning O-ring and recharge services. There was some initial confusion on the quote of the job and ended up being quite a bit more than we initially thought. They did, however, work with us on getting the price closer to what we originally thought it was going to be.The following day our vehicle would not start and we had to call Firestone and ask them what the problem might be. They paid for a tow truck to come get the vehicle so they could assess what further needed to be done. The battery checked out fine in the assessment of the vehicle the day before, but for some reason was completely dead the next day.Upon arriving at Firestone to pick up her vehicle, I was surprised to find that they completely covered the cost of the battery and terminal connections. They explained that they like to take care of their customers and that the repairs were no charge. Needless to say, it was refreshing to experience a business that still practices good prompt customer service.Thank you guys,Brandon
These guys tried to tell me my inner tie roda were loose. They were brand new parts. Not Goin back ever.
The guys there or the ones who help put air in my tires even checked the air pressure for free and didnt mind doing it and I wasnt there to buy tires but in the near future I will go back thanks.
Had a tire puncture patched recently. The service was excellent and they followed torque guidelines mounting the tire.
They were great! My family and I were traveling through the area in a Sunday afternoon when we got a nail in our tire. Luckily we were close to this Firestone branch. They got us right in and fixed our tire in under 30 minutes and got us back on the road. I know most places would take forever, try to sell you things when you didnt need, and not be nearly as nice as these guys were. Thanks so much for the help.
I’ve always been happy with services received in the past, however, the guy who answered the phone this morning didn’t seem to know what an ignition switch was, which is kind of disconcerting.Edited to add: it seems this place has gone downhill in the last few months, according to the recent reviews I’ve just read. Good to know.
Trustworthy and they genuinely care about your safety/vehicle. Wouldnt go anywhere else!!
The workers are always professional, helpful, thorough and mindful of the customer needs and how precious their time is. I love they have early morning hours so can get in and out and then face the rest of my day. I go nowhere else any more for service ...no matter what service I need.
Great service had a break malfunction emergency got me in an complete same day
This store in Lawrence, Ks is awesome. The store manager Mckinnley works with you to the best of his abilities. They take care of you. I would recommend them to anyone. Awesome customer service.
If I could give zero stars I would. This is not the first time I have had a bad experience with this company. I bought a full set of tires from firestone in Lawrence 1.5 years ago so I tried to keep my business with them. This weekend I took my car in to get my tires rotated and get a brake inspection. I was contacted to approve my repairs needed and asked to keep my car over night because of scheduling conflicts. When I arrived the next morning, my car had not even been worked on. I was never contacted that my car was not finished, despite having been with them for over 7 hours. I clearly stated that I would be there right when they opened to pick up my car. It took them another 2 hours to complete my repairs. I will not be returning my business with firestone and highly recommend no one else takes their business there. The lack of communication, customer service, and professional has completely turned me away to ever returning to this company.
Ive used Firestone for quite a few jobs. This experience was rough...I spent $2500 and my car acts even worse than before. Im afraid to take my car back and be charged even more for repair of issues that showed up after they removed and reset my engine.
They have really improved their service and managed to squeeze me in for a quick tire change in my moment of need.
Although Firestone is very expensive and any service they offer is going to set you back, I have never once had to worry about the condition of my car once I got it back from them. The staff at Firestone will always make sure your car gets fixed right the first time. While it is very expensive, it is worth the extra bit of money for the peace of mind, knowing your car is in the right hands.
Took our car to Firestone in the morning and they said they would be able to complete the repairs. They finally called us at close (around 5pm) asking to keep it another day because they HADNT EVEN STARTED THE REPAIRS. My partner needed it for work the next morning! He was screwed because they overbook. We wont ever go back.
They take care of your car, but, like a lot of car places, theyre not very good or kind about helping you understand all the details of what youre dealing with. I spent over a $1000, and I felt like they resented every time I wanted details about why this was the right plan.
Stay away from this shop. They try to scam you.A little over a week ago, I went in for a tire rotation and a tire repair. After 45 minutes of waiting, they said the tire could not be repaired. They also said my vehicle must be out of alignment, because the wear pattern on the front two tires is so severe that they refused to rotate the tires. Instead, they offered to do an alignment ($80) and offered to replace the tires with new ones for $350-411 (and thats a pro-rated amount based on the life left in the current tires, because they are still under warranty, 35000 out of 70000 miles). I declined their offer to fix my tire problem for around $500. No thanks!Within the next week, I took my car to a different tire shop in Lawrence, asking for the same service (rotation and a tire repair). Within 40 minutes, they had repaired the damaged tire and completed the rotation. Charge: $33.I do not plan to return to Firestone, as they are a bunch of liars, intent on swindling people out of their money. Two other people I know personally have also had negative experiences here, both of which overpaid for unnecessary automotive services.
Just wanted to get my wifes car AC charged because it wasnt working at all in 100 degree weather, dropped the car off, they wanted about $150 to do that, they claimed there was a leaking hose that would be another few hundred bucks to fix, then Steve called back trying to convince me her car needed new tires, plus alignment... and said we needed to get $1,200 worth of work done, but no problem they could have the parts in tomorrow.... I then went to Advance Auto Parts, they had a deal going where I got a can of AC recharge plus the adapter for about $20 after the rebate. Took 5 minutes of my time on Youtube to figure out how to do it, and 5 minutes to actually do the recharge. That was a month ago and her AC is freezing cold. I will never go back to Firestone.
I had an oil change performed here 10,000 miles ago and they installed my drain plug without the sealing washer, causing a nice slow oil leak. Also, today my girlfriend took her car there for an oil change and they recommended an automatic transmission flush when her car has a manual transmission. It doesnt seem like they pay much attention or try to recommend things you dont need.
Excellent service.
My son is a college student at KU. We sent him to this location to have a squealing brake issue looked at. Steve told him that his back rotors were warped and that the brake pads were worn down to 3mm and that both needed replaced. We found this odd since the car has only 20,000 miles on it and that the front rotors were fine on a front wheel drive car. Didn’t make sense. So we called and talk with Steve, who is the one that did the estimate. He recommended the same thing to us as we spoke about our concerns. We decided to come get it and take it to the Honda dealer in KC to get a second opinion. As we drove to KC, we had no sound on the brakes at all and no pulsation of the brakes which is what would most likely occur if the rotors were bad. Honda, who would gladly have taken our money to repair this, showed absolutely no wear on the rotors nor the brake pads. I was HOT! How dare they take advantage of a college student! So we made a trip to Lawrence to discuss our frustration with the shop. Steve happened to be on duty. When asked why Honda would find nothing wrong with it, his explanation was that he must have gone back out and stopped hard on the brakes and cured the problem. Now, I may not be a mechanic, but I know enough to know that warped brakes don’t just become “unwarped “ by slamming on the brakes again. That’s insulting to my intelligence! Honda said the same thing to us: warped brakes won’t fix themselves. We followed this rabbit hole with the question of why they would replace brake pads that aren’t worn. His response was, “we always replace brake pads with new rotors.” We asked, “Even if they aren’t worn?” He said yes! Oh my! That’s about all I can say. My assessment of this shop is that they take advantage of college students, and tried to take advance of me from afar. We will NEVER visit this shop again. Anyone that practices business like this has no morals and doesn’t deserve to be open. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
They are constantly trying to scam you and always state that you need all kinds of things done to your car that isn’t even true! Luckily my dad is a mechanic and I only went there for an oil change while he was out of town. When he came back he assured me all of the things they said I needed done wasn’t true. Give your money to someone else.
This Firestone is very good very clean very organized as well they understand what they are doing and they care about your vehicle they do a very good job. the price is usually fair for what they charged in the things they do. overall I would recommend going here.
One Saturday afternoon my car started experiencing problems. The automotive I frequent does not open on Saturdays, and Firestone was the closest thing to me, so I decided to take my car there for a quick diagnose and see if it was a serious problem.I was told I needed to replace my cars engine completely (they even gave me a ridiculously large quote on it, way more than the price I paid for the car itself). They said there was no pressure at all in two of the six cylinders. I brought my car to my regular mechanic shop a couple of days afterwards, and they told me the problem was with the timing belt, and it just needed to be replaced, and that the cylinders were not having the problem reported by Firestone.Firestone just read the computerized diagnose, and went with what it spit out.In summary, when it comes to vehicle inspection, never trust Firestone at Lawrence.
Do NOT go! My mother went in for a rotation and they told her the tires needed to be replaced right then and told her they would could not give it back to her because it was so dangerous. My mom, not knowing anything about tires, was coerced into buying new tires and they talked her into not consulting me when she wasnt sure. She bought the roadside warranty guaranteeing replacement due to roadside hazards. When she went into get her tire fixed from a nail in it. They told her it didnt cover it. I went in with the paperwork from the roadside warranty and they claimed they had no idea she had it and could give her a prorated price ($150/tire) but not fix the tire. I took it to another place, got a patch and new warranty for $35. Other place assured us that the tire was completely fine and has been running fine for another year. They are very condescending towards females and assume they know nothing, refusing to explain what is wrong and mocking them for telling them they need to talk to someone. I wish I could give them zero stars for how they treated my mother.
I got a nail in my tire that they said could not be repaired. It could have been. The tire they sold me was reasonably priced however.
They are professional and personable
Update: 12/27/19Another 5 star experience with Firestone. I had my thermostat housing unit blow the day before I was flying out for christmas. What made it worse was I was in Overland Park when it happened. I called Firestone and McKinley met me at the Firestone in Overland Park. We couldnt get the car fixed, so he drove me back to Lawrence and also covered the tow costs for the car back to Lawrence. This is a great shop.5 star experience every time. Ive been coming to Firestone for a couple years since I moved to Lawrence in 2016. McKinley and his guys do a great job! This location has a customer for life.
I took my car in for an oil change. After about 20 minutes, they came and told me I didnt need an oil change, that the oil looked good and the tires looked good and so they would top off all the fluids and there would be no charge. They COULD have just gone ahead and changed the oil and charged me for it, but they were forthright and honest and I Greatly appreciate that! I highly recommend these guys :D
Very helpful to this out-of-towner who needed to wait several hours for a Mini Cooper tire to fix her highway pothole-caused flat. Transported to nearby shopping and food district; recommended places to visit while waiting; and brought back to the shop to retrieve the repaired car. Very nice.
The best Firestone around. I drive 35 minutes just for this store! Excellent Group
I would leave zero stars if I could. I called ahead 3 days to set up my appointment. Had it here on time on Saturday with them telling me it would be ready first thing Sunday morning. I called them Sunday morning to confirm pick up and they hadnt even put it in the shop yet. Said it would be done in a couple hours. Called at 1:00. Still hadnt started on it. Said will be done by end of day. Come close of day and still not done. All i came in for was an oill change and to have the fuel filter changed. These people are a joke and a shady bunch of lazy guys. I will never come here again and would not recommend them to anybody.
My daughter went there for a flat tire and they turned her away and said they have no appointments available. They did not even offer to air up her tire or to come out to take a look at it! Instead they just had her go back out on the road and could care less of her safety! Horrible service! I will not have my business there no longer!
This is the first time I have ever been so upset by something that I felt the need to write a review, but I really want to save people from the giant headache this place will cause you, not to mention, hundreds of unnecessary dollars. Please, do yourself a favor and NEVER go here. This place is a complete scam.To sum it up - after 4 HOURS of waiting, I am out $620 and they gave me a FLAT TIRE after I went in for only an oil change and a vehicle inspection.I brought my car in at 11:00 am which is when I had my appointment scheduled and was waiting there, and they did not even get to my car until 1 pm. The guy at the front desk recommended a certain type of oil for me because it was the best price - turns out it was $60, but they did not tell me this until when I was paying. I have never had my oil changed for more than $35. Next, they insisted that I needed all four wheels replaced and basically gave me no choice- this costed $400 even after $100 off!Worst part- since they had taken 4 hours, I had to drive straight to work right afterwards. I noticed my service light was on immediately after getting into my car after they were done with it, which I thought was strange, but I didnt have time to go back since they had already taken so long. Driving already felt strange and a lot less smooth. When I got off work, MY TIRE WAS FLAT. I had it replaced by Triple A, and they had confirmed that there was no nail or rock in my tire, but it was flat because of installation error. At the end when I was paying, I asked them to show me everything they charged me for, and there were 8-10 random things that were never mentioned to me that they ended up charging me for. They also tried charging me $90 more for a tire alignment, and I literally had to insist on refusing at least 5 times before they laid off me because I was just going to take it elsewhere since they had wasted so much of my time and money. They also kept insisting I get new windshield wipers (even though they work perfectly fine), and I had to refuse a bunch of times again. While they were replacing my tires, they needed a special key for one of the lug nuts, and instead of asking me where my key was, they decided to look through my entire car without my permission (looking through bags in my trunk, middle console, etc), and after they couldnt find it, THEN they decided to ask me where it was. Now, I have to go back tomorrow and just pray that dont scam me again and pay to replace a tire which they are at fault for. Save yourself a headache and hundreds of dollars and just go somewhere else.
My family has been taking cars to firestone forever, so this experience was a surprise to me. I took my 13 year old car here to get an oil change and my check engine light was on. While I was there, I figured I would ask for a complete vehicle inspection since I drive so often and I’m really racking up miles, I want to ensure I’m safe! They did the oil change, a $23 physical inspection and a $99.99 “engine inspection”. They proceeded to give me a $2,500 list of hard to understand “recommendations” for my vehicle. I ended up only fixing the broken sensor causing the check engine light. The rest didn’t seem urgent. I was mostly upset about the incredibly poor portrayal of the things they found. It was completely filled with jargon and nobody tried to break it down for someone obviously lacking in knowledge of cars.A week and half after this inspection, while I was driving, one of my break hoses broke. Which in itself is absolutely terrifying, but mostly maddening as I had just paid for this inspection and they had said NOTHING about the breaks. Both of my break hoses had been splitting, how was that not caught? Plus this happened in a different city and I was stuck there overnight.I went back in and talked to the service manager, who was very nice and apologetic and said it was overlooked and shouldn’t have happened, and refunded the $23 physical inspection. I am very appreciative off him but I could have been seriously hurt and this was not caught. I also do not appreciate the person who tried to deliver the results of the inspection.
Have a long time friend that worked here and he advised not to go in for anything other than tires. They want to sell you things you don’t need. Or throw parts at it to see if it’s fixed. He quit because he did not want to be dishonest to customers. They are crooks. Will try and up sale things you DO NOT NEED. Just to make a buck. The techs out in the shop get points when they can push BS stuff. They should to a undercover story on this place. If you do go against my advise and you are hit with extras they want to sell you. Go get another opinion from anyplace else.
Got me in and out with 4 new tires and a free alignment check in under 2 hours. Great customer service and they were super busy today as well.
This place is absolute ripoff. Took my car in for water pump replacement. They quoted me $1500!! 500 for part, 1000 for labour! Turns out pump only costs $102 and i did it myself in 2 hours (Honest shop would charge no more than $300, parts included). Stay away from these sharks!
I work across the street from this location and dropped my car off all day to get an oil change that never got done. That is a 9am-6pm time frame Firestone failed to complete a simple oil change. Heres the kicker, when I showed up at 6pm to pick up my car and they realize the oil change wasnt completed, the representative told me its going to be another 30-40 min wait. I explained I dropped my car off 9 hrs ago and the representative said what do you want me to do?. How rude and unprofessional. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Wow! We took our car in for the current alignment special (...what with all the potholes and such...) and sure am glad we did. MAC (front desk guy) carefully showed us all the information we requested and even more about our car (2014 Toyota Avalon XLE). JOE was the mechanic doing top notch work.Took the car for a drive to Kansas City via K-10 and the car drove itself!! Seemed like MAC and JOE had somehow installed auto pilot on the Avalon. Zero need for steering corrections. We opted to pay slightly more and bought the lifetime alignment. Were keeping this car for 6* years and it is most certainly CHEAP insurance....Thanks Firestone (...and CFNA....thats their inhouse credit card which gets you even better deals and 0% finance options....)...
Mackinley, Elliot and all the guys at Lawrence Firesone are incredible. !!!! Wouldnt take my car ANY other place.
THANK YOU, so much for helping me out on short notice so I can drive to make money. Best place to go and they care about local people
Had some front end work done a while back. When I get the car back the hood release handle is broken but not noted. A few months later I take it back for a squeak in the front end to see if it was related to the work done. Was charged a check out fee but was not advised of the charge until afterward. Have never been back. It turned out to be a lower control arm bushing not related to the work done but bad enough that it probably should have been caught initially. Had Goodyear fix it who also found a bent upper control arm and a few other things. Have since upgraded the suspension & brakes in my Slot Car Garage for auto crossing. Exit ramp racing anyone?
I use the one in Topeka and theyre always great. But not this one.
I feel very confident in the sales people and technicians at Firestone after having several of my company vehicles serviced there. The staff is always very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly on the phone and in person.
Justin and David are extremely helpful. Im willing to drive 30 mins for great service. Thanks guys.
