I have been a member for years and I can’t say enough how I enjoy the classes! I visited LA last month and the classes were managed the same! Specifically, Tracey is one of the best instructors teaching Body Works Plus Abs! She is very encouraging, challenging, yet accommodating! If she wasn’t here nor would I be!!!
No problem, the place is clean. The staff is pleasant. Glad they have disinfectant bottles everywhere.
Good fitness center with all the standard equipment. Decent variety and enough of it. Pretty clean with plenty of disinfectant. They have great spinning instructors and the bikes are in good shape. I was a little disappointed that some of attachments were permanently affixed to some on the machines. In addition, some of the ones I am accustomed to were not available. The patrons seem to put the weights back and wear masks. I would recommend this location. Not bad.
Shyair is the best! If you are looking for a gym in the Laurel, Maryland area definitely go see Shyair at LA Fitness. As a local business owner, I did not feel brushed aside. She even followed up with me about future opportunities for business owners. I appreciate that so much.
La fitness is great except for the fact that it always feels like a sweat shop in here. You sweat so much, it tires you out and makes you not want to work out anymore because it’s so uncomfortable and sometimes unbearable.
Clean and good receiptionist with the best customer care
Love it here ! Just wish they opened up a little earlier and closed a little later.
The Laurellocation is not as nice as my gym (Silver Spring location). The drink machine doesnt work and when I asked about it, the guy at the desk doesnt know who to call to fix the problem so its been down for quite some time. I had to leave the gym to get a drink. No hand sanitizer in the automatic dispenser on the main floor (COVID concern). I was less than impressed.
I’ve noticed on several occasions that trainers who aren’t employed by LA Fitness train their clients at this location. I’m almost sure that’s against policy and it seems like an accident waiting to happen. I’d expect the trainers to be uniformed in LA Fitness apparel. I must be wrong. The sad part is that management probably knows about it. That or the LA Fitness trainers must be afraid of speaking up. I know I wouldn’t want some outside trainer taking potential earnings away from me.The condition of the gym could probably be improved if they had more personal training dollars coming in. This location is managed as sloppily as the commonly scattered dumbbells. Gym is average at best.
PreCovid I was a member of the LA fitness. Today June 1, 2021 around 6:30pm, after fully vaccinated, I went back to the LA fitness at Laurel with the guest pass. My plan was to see the situation and reinstate my membership. However, the sales person, Ms. Shyair, treated me disrespectfully. She denied me access with the guest pass. She said that she allows me only if I reactivated my membership or pay $15 per visit. I was so upset as I didn’t expect that from the club where I was a member for so long.I decided to go back home and now looking for other gym. Again, Ms. Shyair, if you are reading this, I am very sad !!!! Never go back to LA!!!!!
Absolutely love this gym... Never to busy but never empty...
Friendly staff. Has a sauna. Shower area needs deep cleaning including floors. Trash cans and brooms laying around in the wrong areas. Huge hose laying in bathroom. Showers full of hair.
It was good to be able to go back to the gym. When you come in your temperature is checked and if all is well you scan in. They are doing a good job enforcing social distancing. Bummer that the water bottle refill is inop (At P. F. off 650, It is functional) Spin bikes are reduced and other cardio machines the same. I didnt notice any real change with the weight bench #s and there was easy access to them and free weights. I was there at opening time.
No one controls what happens; if you respect the rules or not; weights are scattered everywhere and you have to waste time looking for them; its often crowded and you cant follow your schedule
Covid precautions in place, of course you should be careful in cleaning your equipment.
I tried to cancel my membership twice last year soon as lockdown started, but I was still hit with membership fees once they started reopening. Just got hit with another membership fee even though I had canceled last year and havent stepped foot inside a gym all year. They told me they had frozen my account even though I requested a cancellation and that they had given me a complementary freeze for one year (Feb 2020-Feb2021), which is still inaccurate, considering I was hit with fees in July. I never received any email about this freeze or its terms, even though I was told. Customer service couldnt do anything besides cancel (hopefully this time its legitimate and I wont continue to get hit with fees), but I was charged over $160 in unnecessary fees and I regret ever signing up.
Good Experience! They have extra cleaning supplies available. The cardio machines are spaced out to make people are distancing themselves. Everyone had masks on. The crowd was rather small, so that people could maintain their space. I felt safe going back!
Nice gym, everyone wears masks which gives me a piece of mind.
Terrible, crowed Gym AWAYS crowed any time, the weights are aways messed too.
Its a nice space and maintained well, but it is way too busy during certain hours. If you need a certain piece of equipment, youll have to go early morning or late evening.
Dirty LA Fitness witnessed ever.
Great gym. Social distancing issues.
Not the best LA fitness but not bad
Such a great gym. I live in Silver Spring and come out to Laurel because it is only gym that is clean and appealing. The staff is friendly. Youll love Nikki (Niecey Nash lookalike).
Im new to going to the gym and its equipment are good so far as Im aware. The personal training staff are a little hard to approach and seem dismissive of those who are new to gym. Other than that the desk staff are friendly I like that they have a pool. Ill probably try and learn how to use the equipment from YouTube, As I think that that will work better for meThen using their PT staff.
Clean gym and a lot of amenities. Average pricing for the gym. Aaron explained all of the plans in specific detail and answered all of my questions. He was very knowledgeable!
Good workout. Im rocking full.
Nice look Lady
Ive been a member for several years and its a good place to work out for the cost. I normally go early in the morning. After 4pm it does turn into an social club and the equipment is hard to come by, so you have to modify your workout and be flexible. Overall its a great place to workout and the staff is friendly.
I’ve had a great experience here. There’s always a great vibe when you walk in and the staff is great. It’s actually clean and it doesn’t stink! I’ve been really impressed. I’m glad I joined.
I am honestly disgusted with the staff and the overall setup of this gym. Dumbbells are all over the place nor are they in order. A class was being held and I was just going through the back to simply put something back that I had taken and the teacher starts rudely telling me to leave. Unprofessional, unorganized, and pathetic. Worst gym I have been to.
This gym is always clean and the machines are in working condition. When Im in the area its the one I prefer.
The front desk person representative Bonetia was very disrespectful and rude. I have been a member of LA fitness for over 20 and yesterday I went there and was told that my membership expired. I didn’t have my credit card with me, so I told her I would bring it the next day and pay. I went to do my workout and to my surprise I saw the cops came in to take me out of the building. I was so embarrassed by it. The worst experience in my life.
Too crowded and they need to maintain the equipment better. Unracked weights everywhere, and good luck finding the dumbells you want.
Overall the gym met all my requirements . From cleanliness to service to equipment 10/10! Service especially, came in sat down with a representative and quickly signed up. Cant wait to work out here everyday .
Early morning is great hard to find weights but once you find them its like any of the gym good pool good sauna good hot tub good gym
I love this gym. It has everything I wanted in a gym; Dance Studio, boxing and free weights. Im always motivated when I go there.
I worked for the La fitness in Laurel, MD for 4yrs. Its a great gym when it comes to other gyms in the area. Anywhere you go its a hit or miss with something, theres plenty of signs about leaving personal items in the locker room. Its heavy high Traffic gym things like that happen in any gym, the cost its a Dollar a day. For $30 a month a have a range of extra perks that most gyms make you pay for... Pool, sauna, Classes, Spa, Basket Court all of that is included in your membership.Staff: One of the best staff I worked with the GM Mike takes care of all problems presented his way when told about it.Now the guy Lovepreet I could rebuttal your statement because I was working with La fitness when you were. And I know other wise when it came to your actions when working for la fitness!Overall youll get a good experience with La fitness its what you make of it. All of my old customers know how I operated when I was a manager with La fitness at this location. And people know how Mike and I handled situations, trust me when I say theres no other gym that will give you what you need for $30 Trust Me
Good place to get a workout !!
Only reason why I didnt give it 1 star is because the weights and other equipment is nice. A lot of variety and plenty of weights. The reason for 2 stars is the staff is rude, not friendly at all, lazy. Doesnt matter what time of day you go in, theres always broken stuff, paper towels empty, sinks not working and soap not filled. I had a corporate account where I could bring guest. Well this isnt a place I wanna bring out of town guest. It was quite embarrassing to say the least, especially considering other LA are well worth the rate. I kept my membership for about 6 months but should had listened to the previous reviews. Lastly I know its hard to control but they have alotttt of break ins and stolen items happening. In the past 6 months Ive probably seen the cops here about 5 times. Thats a lot considering my routine isnt the same and I go to another gym as well. It almost makes you think they could do a better job at monitoring the situation...
Love this gym they have a wonderful staff they cooperate with you to make sure everthing is alright with you. Very nice community!
It’s been a while since I been back. The only time you can enjoy a gym this size if you like to work out in early morning hours. Between 5 to 8 pm it’s a over crowded social club filled with patrons that don’t know how to use the equipment and staff thats burnt out from all the privileged fools (customers). If you can get in at 5:30 am. You’ll love the place.
They have almost all the essential gym services and friendly staff with many options to join.
This place do not have any cleanliness in order. I tried 5 days free pass to try group Yoga classes at Laurel, MD location. My first visit to this place and meeting Mike who is a manager didnt feel very warm and welcoming. Mike was constantly distracted when I was having a chat to be a future member with them. Asking for classes and more details he seemed to be really over occupied in his own thoughts which made me feel they dont need more customers. My first class trial was AM Yoga classes. The floors were not cleaned at all for the fact that this was the first class in the morning after all nights break and supposed to be clean, I mean real cleaning happens at night, right? I cleaned my own space but really during yoga you feel like you are touching places which are still dirty. My second class was a spin class really early AM. I loved the class and the spirit there but not knowing any better I ended up on a broken bike on the first day. Some one was nice enough to help me so I know it was broken( I had no idea on what to expect from bike functionalities). Next day tried spin class with different teacher ended up on another broken bike (talk about luck) which I had to switch. I realized there were few more broken ones right in the middle, why would you leave it such that it gets in use? Broken items should be kept aside or labeled at least if not fixed. Was really disappointed right there. The water fountains + that area is filthy....looks like it has not been touched or cleaned for weeks and months. The water tastes like mixed with assorted chemicals. Water is the 1st thing gym should offer really well to hydrate. Not sure how much folks clean before and after their use as there is nothing they offer for cleaning purpose. I mean real cheap Planet fitness offers at-least spray bottles and paper towels in the walk-able distance for before and after workout cleaning. This place is less than A Star rating in my opinion. I think gyms should be clean and inviting and doesnt have to be fancy in my view. This place has nothing to offer starting from customer service to actual service + the hygiene safety.I do not recommend this place even if it was free.
I have only given it one star because I have to. Trying to cancel a membership at this place is a nightmare. I have been attempting to do this for a month now. I get told do it in person at a club. So I drive about a half hour to the nearest one. Nope can only do it Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. Some of us work you know and I work about an hour from one of your clubs. Oh you can cancel on the website. No you cant. You have to print a form and mail it in and they suggest you send it certified so it doesnt get lost. Why do I have to go to a post office to pay to cancel my own membership? Meanwhile I am still being charged. Stay away from this place unless you want to do all of this to get out. The last gym I belonged to I cancelled with an email. Seriously? Seems like a scam to make it so inconvenient that youll just give up. Update your customer service because its horrible.
DisappointedI am a member of La Fitness, and has never had any issues. The employees are courteous, and always do their best to accommodate their members. That is until today, after telling a friend of mine, how great this gym is, and that she should join, and basically marketing the gym, my high standards for this gym was dashed away. My friend and I entered this gym, I wanted to get a 10-day VIP pass so that she could enjoy the gym the way I do. There was a slight glitch in me getting the pass to her because I needed to have the first six numbers of my card on file. I asked Isiah if there was any other way to accommodate, he said that a three daypass, this did not work for me since I wanted her to have a great experience. While trying to figure the best possible way to get her the pass, she needed to use the bathroom, I asked can my friend go to the bathroom please, he said that she couldnt until she got a waiver. I explained that she had to use the bathroom urgently to pee. In a nutshell, I should not have to share that she is unable to hold it. He said let me get her the waiver, I responded she needs to go its urgent. My friend was forced to stand there unable to speak, because she was afraid she would use the bathroom on herself. So, let’s put this into perspective, I am trying to get her to join the gym, because its such a nice place, yet she cant use the bathroom quickly. So, member who come to speak to a sales representative, should hold their pee until a waiver is entered into the system. Is it me La Fitness or is something missing here. You want members, or maybe you have enough members, no need for any little fish in the big pond.Bathroom pass in an emergency. There are so many ways this could have been handled differently, but Isaiah didnt care enough to handle this situation differently.
Horrible customer service! The recruiter also gave me horrible customer service! This place needs new management or needs to properly train their team members! Go to any other gym in the area but this one!
I had the worst experience here tonight, the doors was closed and locked at 10:35 and the facility clearly is marked on the door and online closed at 11pm. In addition to that a member of the gym was coming out as I walked up to the door and was told by one of the employees their to not let me in, after knocking on the glass the employee came to the door, talked to me threw the glass and told me they are closed, and this is a normal practice to lock the doors early and not allow people to come in, I’ve never heard of this, and the membership I signed up for states the facility closes at 11pm. I work long hard hours and rushed to the gym after work and experience this, I just need 10min in the sauna, smh. Incredible
My first impression was good, pleasant and satisfactory. Customer service was super. The young Alexiana was very polite and helpful. The gym is what I would call All- rounder, well equipped and to make sure I got a good feel, I sampled most of the equipments by using them. Nice pool, bike room, basket ball court and of course the main floor with advance excercise equipment s and more....If you have ever tried Golds gym, this is way better and more.,..at least speaking from the location I go to. Cheers. 4 - 5 star is it
This Gym has the equipment for getting a good workout in. If you want to work hard and get your fitness on.....you can do it here! Like anywhere else......you got some great people....you got some not so great people. Some are rude and stank.......some are cordial and pleasant. Focus on your workout........you will get the benefits of doing such. Stay positive......remain focused.....get it done!!!! TAKE CARE OF THE TEMPLE!!!!
Fairly good gym
Great classes usually! Great workout facility, and nice management.
Maybe I came at the busy time of day during my visits, but I had no issues with the staff being helpful at all. I actually forgot my card and they had no problem quickly pulling up my information and letting me in.
Nikki and Catelyn at the front desk rock! The front desk team is so nice and compassionate
Cleanliness is a problem here. Also, people have a bad habit of leaving weights lying around and management doesnt seem to do anything about it. Ive been a member of LA Fitness for over 2 years now and liked how clean the gyms were, as well as how nice the equipment is. I recently transferred to this gym and its a complete 180 from where I went previously, nonetheless it gets the job done. Just frustrating at times.
More olimpic bars, because people wait more then 30 minutes waiting in the bench .
Lived in this area for awhile so which I get stressed and want to work out I can find a partner. Was looking for a fun to be my second home.
I love the Zumba class with Susan on Saturday!
This place is disgustingly dirty. I tried to just not let it bother me, but this morning, there were 3 cockroaches just crawling around by the lockers.* There seems to not be paper towels in the bathroom about 80% of the time Ive been here.* The shower curtains have mold on them, as well as some shower walls. Ive brought this up to the front desk multiple times and each time told that they would inform a manager.* There is no circulation in the mens locker room. For example, when I get out of the shower, I shouldnt start sweating as I get dressed due to lack of air running and circulation.* There is a general lack of cleanliness, like no one mops, sweeps or wipes down counters in the locker room or bathrooms.I generally go in the morning around 5:30. How is a place dirty not long after it opens? This seems to be a problem from the evening crew and they are not cleaning and making sure the gym is in order for the next day.
I travel a lot for work and wanted to use a guest pass for a couple of days to work out with my friend. I tried to explain this to the sales person there but I mustve heard we have over 800 locations in the world maybe about 3 or 4 times I told her again I may not be in a location where there would be an LA fitness. Im unsure of the reason why she wouldnt activate my guest pass... I was then treated to a 5 min conversation about the membership monthly rates and sign ups. After a few mins of listening to her I just got up, tried to leave and was asked why are you doing this to yourself when we have so many locations. Just from this initial interaction I dont think Ill consider ever signing up for a gym. Even though Id be limiting myself on strength training Id rather just sign up for 24 hour fitness, planet fitness or golds gym.
Iys ok however the staff needs to do a better job enforcing that members take care of the gym. Meaning replace the weights to thwir rightful place etc. Weights were everywhere...seems wherever someone worked out with dumbbells is exactly where they left it. Horrible
Been here since June so far so good, its got all the stuff a gym should have . ( Only thing I would add is and this is just my preference and pov, is an actual room hard mat CrossFit type style/ mma type room .)Like some gyms Ive been in like iron gym Alexandria and some Golds gym. Im paying $19/mo for two but thats because I put a down payment for $250? I think ..inicial activation fees and stuff. But other than that Im only 10 min away, they have a sauna a pool a cycling room, good amount of machines. Its always clean and has a basketball court. If I may add also another thing, I just wish all cable machines have the, designated handles or bars on them . I find myself waiting for the next guy to finish up because another machines is missing that simple part . Other than that great place great atmosphere .💯
I visited this gym as I was working late one evening. I usually go to the waldorf location. Its a typical LA fitness plenty of cardio machines. Decent sized free weight section and even though it was quite busy when i went no issues with working in with members on the only 2 squat racks. Mens locker room and bathroom were adequately clean.
Great experience. Great staff and really good customer service. Cooluld use help with dumbbell rack but they are on top of it. I see that even management cleans up as well.
Avoid this place, unless you like to pay $40+per month to run on a treadmill AND love a screen in your face, otherwise its a complete waste of space. There are no squat racks. only a couple of bench presses. There is no stretching space. There is no open space where you can do something as simple as use a speed rope. There are no foam rollers that you can use as the very soft one that they have is located in the personal trainers area as are the kettle bells. Save your money, go to Planet Fitness or something of the likeness.
Nice place. Clean and wide. Well maintained and the trainers are very expertized to training workouts. Very helpful!
My husband and I are in the military. We were in town (MD is where we are from) and decided to try a local gym instead of going to the on post gym. Called LA Fitness in Laurel to ask about day pass rates and the male rep was extremely rude and seemed like he didnt want to answer any questions. Called Golds Gym right after, they had the same day pass rate as LA Fitness, the rep had a way better attitude...went to Golds Gym.
Gets a little crowded at times early morning is the best time to go...
Ive been a member since they opened. Overall you can get a good work out there, which is what matters most to me. The only complaints I have... it gets overly crowded from about 5pm to 8pm, and the equipment doesnt get wiped down good or as often as it should. Definitely the best option in Laurel. Great price, and good variety of equipment.
I give this gym one star. I was formerly a member of Planet Fitness (obviously not a true gym). There are three reasons why I give one star. The biggest being the lack of paper towels. Visiting over several weeks at several different times, no matter when I was here I would typically have to go to another area to find towels. The mens bathroom never has any and the equipment in the bathroom doesnt look like its ever been cleaned. This also goes for the gym equipment. I dont think the staff ever cleans it. By the end of the day most of the machines are disgusting. I wipe them down anyway before and after use. It would be nice to see an employee trying to make the gym look clean.Another issue is the equipment itself. I notice mostly on the treadmills that half have lose tracks. I dont believe the staff ever checks the machines unless someone tells them. Even then, if it still works but poorly it doesnt get fixed. The Dumbbells on the rack are never racked in order and its usually difficult to find two of the same weight. Some positives. The gym has an excellent selection of equipment.I dont use the pool. The Sauna is nice.It tends to be rather warm inside. I seem to sweat more than I normally would in a similar work out.
Single story, well equipped members only gym. Has plenty of cardio equipment, a basketball court, free weights, spinning class, and a pool. Equipment and locker rooms seem clean and well maintained.
Upon entry there was no greeting from the two young ladies at the desk. I asked where the locker rooms were located, as this was my first time at this location. I received an icy nonchalant response, where I was barely acknowledged. Once in the locker room, a stale pungent odor hit my nose. Several of the lockers were broken and it appeared that the locker room hadnt been clean in a few days. There was trash on the floor and empty soap dispensers. And of course the whirlpool wasnt functional. I have never been to a chain of businesses that is consistently terrible. The whirlpool or sauna are always broken. Ive been to four different locations and this is the norm.
I have to say Ive had nothing but good/decent experiences there! Im an older female, only go there for the Zumba classes and the pool. Love the classes, love one of the teachers - I leave her classes smiling every time, and the other teachers are fine too. No men hanging out watching, as was reported by someone here. Facilities clean, and employees helpful, and courteous. And the price is good. When I break it down I am paying about $3 or $4 per class if I only go even twice a week. (I go during the day, so maybe that is a different scene than people are experiencing during prime evening hours).
Went on a 5 day pass, i will be back
When to try out the gym free trial, to see how it was the gentleman who escorted me was nothing but rude and honestly did not sit well with me due to his attitude. When I was escorted around. it did not seemed like he was pushing a membership on me. The locker room was not cleaned upon my walk through the facility did seem alright at best. But there is no way this would ever be a gym I would go to. LA Fitness fix yourself and your prices or you will be losing more than just your members. Also please tell your associates not to be disrespectful to potential members its just bad business.
Great gym. Great customer service. Very helping general manager. Go and see him. His name is Michael Hamilton.
Waaaaay overcrowded. I cancelled my membership as it was ridiculous. You have to hunt down the bench and wait in line like youre at the DMV..Also, I dont know if there was too many bluetooth devices in the region but my headphones were crackling whenever i was there. Also, the customer service is horrible. Every time i tried to cancel the membership they gave me an excuse as to why I cant cancel it. They even tried telling me I need to mail a letter that states my cancellation to their corporate office in california.Mail a letter to cancel???? Im sorry this isnt 1954. We have things called computers. It wasnt until i requested the Operations Manager that they finally cancelled my account. Even then, she said we are going to cancel it the next month!Needless to say I go to a different gym now .
Pretty clean and fairly new equipment. Most of the staff is friendly. Only thing is it gets really packed after 5pm but thats because its a good place to workout.
The staff seems to work really hard at this location. So many patrons both at opening and from around 5PM to close, but dont seem to have any problems getting on equipment. Only complaint is patrons dont seem to know how to put dumbbells back on the racks
Roaches in the locker room. People dont re-rack their weights. But its big and the equipment is generally in good working order.
There is a serious issue with cleanliness!. There have bee repeated reports and sightings of roaches and ants in the saunas and in the locker room areas. There is irregular removal of trash and the cleaning of the showers and toilets. This is unacceptable and puts the members health at risk!
This place is horrible. I’ve visted all other la fitness locations in this area, and I don’t understand why this one is allowed to be ran so poorly. Starting with the staff, they treat you like they’re doing you a favor by working there. They don’t speak when you’re checking in, and asking for something like paper towels in the ladies room, or the trash to be changing because it’s overflowing on the floor is like asking for a million dollars.Speaking of which, the place is often filthy. The locker rooms are not maintained during high traffic times, so it’s not uncommon for trash cans to overflow, sink areas to be dirty, soap dispensers to be empty. The carpets throughout the club look like they they’ve never been cleaned ever! The cardio machines need calibrating, some are very rough and uncomfortable to use. The same goes for the stations, they need to be tightened and maintained! Some are so wobbly they feel unsafe. Do yourself a favor and skip this location if you can.
We went to LA Fitness in Laurel for about a year. There aren’t many good gyms in South Laurel. It’s a bit expensive for not being that well maintained and very busy. The monthly fee is worth it if you use the pool and classes- which we did not. Overall just an ok gym.
I used to work here and I can say that this is truly a terribly run gym. The staff doesnt check machines unless theyre told to. The membership price is high for what you get and the atmosphere is just weird-- there is an aura to the crowd of men that go here that have a lot of the female customers leaving. Customer service through the L.A. Fitness corporation is terrible as everything is about making money.Dont go here-- theres so many better options out there in Laurel and Columbia, including Planet Fitness or Lifetime
Wouldnt recommend this gym for the money not worth it
I was looking to sign up for the gym and decided not to. Not because of the gym but because of the service at this location. Front desk is rude. The membership consultant Isaiah is HORRIBLEEE. He acted really strange like he didn’t know what he was talking about. He paused while speaking and I would have to ask him more questions to continue the conversation. I don’t know if he was high or something but definitely didn’t want to make me sign up.
I cant complain its clean and has great air circulation.
Update: cockroaches in the showers. This has to be the worst LA I’ve ever been to. Unorganized. Smells bad. Couldn’t even finish my workout because of missing equipment. Annoying.
I love the location of the gym since I am very close to it. But other than that, there are many concerns I have for this gym.- Soap, paper towel never staked up- the recruiters are not friendly and it feels like the are trying to scam you- the location is not clean, I have never seen anyone clean and it can be seen clearly- the staff is not helpful. It seems like the prefer talking among each other rather than working- No sense of management has been put in place. Employees do whatever the desire which is a concern.Overall, this location needs a lot of help from Corporate level. Coming from another LA Fitness that is much more organized structurally, it is a concern for those who come here on a daily base.
Poorly managed. No one cleans up weights or facility. Dumbbells never in place indicated on rack. Gym bags allowed throughout gym (classes, aerobic area, weight area). Paper towels, soap, hot water and more staples of a functioning place are often missing. Manager and staff never walk around to check gym. Members play music without headphones and have phone conversations wherever they want. Packed on weeknights. No way I renew my membership. So much to say and almost all negative.
Its strictly business. I chose this gym due to its proximity and the fact that they have a pool. However, I have never seen the weights properly organized. Rarely there is soap filled in the bathroom. And I shudder when I think about the amount of germs around all of the equipment, mats and pool, especially since there are very few accessible cleaning stations near the weights. This is a public health nightmare and a staph infection waiting to happen...Will be searching for better options in the area after the new year when rates are more competitive...
Pros: affordable priceCons: If you want to use the treadmill, you should be fine. Other than than if you want to lift weights, you are going to have a bad time. Dumb bells are not in sequential order and no rubber plates to do dead lifts.
The variety of equipment, 2 to 4 of the most used equipment (squat and bench) help during busy times to keep moving, pool, price and look are the main things I like. They just need to work on refilling paper towels, soap, less hot water on sinks, basically custodial things.
I signed up for personal training and was told that the personal training sign up fee $149 would be waived. I was also told I would pay for 3 and get 4 sessions during my time signed up for PT. I was also told by the same person Nikki that I could cancel my membership at anytime. ALL WERE LIES!. Upper management and corporate did not help me at all and instead gave me 3 courtesy sessions at my expense. I went to the Better Business Bureau and placed a complaint that this is a scam. I love my personal trainer as he is very knowledgeable! .... The management team is another story and its not a good one.
Love this gym management still talks to You even after membership. Great gym lots of amenities.
This location is the worst Ive been to. Its much smaller than the other locations. The locker room is always dirty. The lockers themselves obviously never get wiped out. I dont want my gym bag on someones dirt and who knows what else. The faucets to wash your hands dont work all the time. The water takes awhile before the motion sensor kicks in. The soap and paper towels are always out. I mean always everywhere. I have to leave the gym area to walk to the back of the locker room to find paper towels daily. The carpet is torn and lifts completely up in the free work-out area with mats. Its pretty bad. They take forever to make repairs when things get damaged. The suana is constantly packed with people, its never relaxing. Ladies go in there in wet bathing suits, bring lotions, etc in there like we all enjoy the same scents when Im trying to relax and focus. I live in Laurel and this location is convenient since Im a working single mother. However the day-care is unacceptable wouldnt leave my kid there ever ever again. They are over crowded and rude in the day-care. Atleast during my visit the first experience. As a paying long term loyal customer to LA fitness Im highly disappointed with my home towns location in Laurel. Im sure my post will be ignored but I dont come here unless I have to due to my tight schedule. Crofton is much much better! The only thing good is some of the staff. Mainly the girls at the front desk and the trainers .
I love the place the community is amazing and friendly and the equipment is all up to date and good to use helps me get ready for football
Weights are not re-racked properly I dont have LA Fitness autopay to have to come and search for the right weights. Got 35lb dumbbells on the 50 rack and vice versa. Its a mess.
Staff friendly. Need to clean vents in ceiling and replace ceilings tiles where rain have soiled them. Overall gym is clean just need more focus on some areas.
