Had one of the best Indian tacos here. Alot of resources for our Native community
Didnt know what to make of it but I will find out.
Las Vegas Indian Center, due to privacy, well never know who they have helped.I first went to Las Vegas Indian Center, in 1979.My Chicana friend got employed as a receptionist.Lol...Im thinking may be only their family, and their friends. All that applied at intake, I think they use us as numbers for their grant and to the boardmembers. Its wonder its still open and in operation.
I remember back in the day, The Indian Center had a bad reputation. This is no longer 20 years ago. I have seen the Indian Center and staff make tremendous strides to be pro active in the community and really doing things for Native American people that live in the City of Las Vegas. I really admire how they have given a focus to Indigenous arts and crafts and opened their doors to having workshops for beadwork and ribbon skirt making, just to name a few. The Holiday shops are the best! Shining a spotlight on our local Native artists and helping them promote their talents to the community at large. Our people are very involved in the voting process, no matter which political party you choose, and the Indian Center has hosted events for the Native Vote. Hosting political candidates and building education and awareness to issues in Indian Country.Jobs? The Las Vegas Indian Center has partnerships with various businesses in helping to get employment for Natives. A very long time ago, I was someone who needed a little help and I sat with a staff member to talk about my skills, interests and how I could work towards goals. Its nice to talk with people who understand the struggles of single parents and have answers for resources.I am thankful that the Indian Center partnered with the community when we wanted to make signs for the Womens march a few years ago. They provided materials on top of what we brought and cooked food for the people out of the kindness of their heart. I wouldnt have known about all the ins and outs of the grants available for our Native youth unless the Indian Center had hosted the community to speak and educate us about it.One of the sweetest things I saw that the public probably doesnt know about, but SHOULD, is last year when the Las Vegas Indian Center staff volunteered for the toy drive. They were physically at the KLUC Toy drive volunteering to earn the toys for the Native families in need. The Indian Center is about community building. It is a prime hub for our Native people and I always see the staff at various events whether they are attending or volunteering themselves. I look forward to their future events and meeting other Natives in our city!Visit the Las Vegas Indian Center. Learn about their programs, resources, and how to get involved in the community. The staff is friendly and inviting and willing to talk. Looking forward to the next Indian Taco day!
The LVIC has always provided support in multiple ways for myself and our community - and others. The LVIC has recently been under new leadership and the main proponent under the new leadership has been based on revitalizing the LVIC with community-based efforts, support and collaborations. Thank you LVIC!
Great place for early voting with short wait times.
All these people are interested in is taking your money. I walked in there with HPN Medicaid and instead of referring me to another clinic that accepts my insurance she tried everything in her power to get me to change my insurance to one they accept! Then she told me that the other clinic I mentioned doesnt accept my insurance either even tho I know they do. If youre truly seeking help, seek it elsewhere. I go to Community Counseling Center off Sahara and 6th St. They take ALL Medicaid plans.
They do not help natives. They receive funding but it goes into the pocketss of certsin individuals. Rip off place.
Good place if youre on drugs and need help. But also dont put you in a program for no reason when you dont do drugs but must do an evaluation for your parole officer.
I appreciate all they do. Thank you Karen!!!
I thought they were very rude and didnt try to help me or my family and yes we are native Americans ourselves. Ive never ask for help from any community out here in las vegas and i been out here for 17 yrs. Not even from the welfare department. But this one time i asked for help for me and my kids they looked at me like i was asking for the world. I felt like because i was from another tribe they didnt want to help me or my family. I will NEVER GO BACK! What goes around come around.
