Oh my! Pulled into this little gem. Was greeted right away from a very nice lady. She told us it was going to be a little longer than usual wait due to staff shortages. We gladly waited. Sure am glad that we did! I am a taco lover....never heard of Burnt cheese tacos... my taco life will never be the same. They are AMAZING! All of our food was great and the friendliness of the staff and other customers was amazing. If we ever find ourselves back in Las Vegas, NM we will gladly return!

The baked lasagna was amazing as well as the tuna melt! Ashley is the sweetest girl! Be sure if you come to this place that you understand they are short staffed but they work very very hard and theyre very good at what they do.

Since 1949..........are you kidding? There must be only a dozen restaurants across America, in small towns, that are even 25 years-old, let alone 72 years!Hahaha....I rolled into Las Vegas late one night and searched up and down the strip for a motel room. Couldnt find a single one in July.2021. Of course I did have special needs: my 10 1/2 year-old companion, Raji, a 120 lb. Rottweiler. I needed a dog-friendly motel.Luckily, when I was about to hit the road and just continue driving to Raton where I usually stay at my favorite motel, the Robinhood Motel, I stopped by the Budget Inn and met Jay, the reservationist. Cool as Paul Newman in his famous role, Jay smiled, welcomed me and Raji, and I had a room. Better than that, I asked is ther anywhere in Las Vegas that I can still get a quick meal other than the usual chain fast-food places. Jay explained that the bar next door was associated with The Hillcrest and was still open for another 35 minutes. I walked over to nirvana and had a beer and wonderful chicken sandwich at the bar. So nice...........The Hiilcrest is a unique place. Next visit, Ill eat in their dining room, a special place that looks like Audy Hepburn or Spencer Tracy might walk in at any moment. At least I will and shall eat happily waiting for the ghostly guests to show.

The best (red) chili sauce Ive had, maybe ever. Its the stuff of dreams.. Made here in the kitchen. Service excellent and easy to find off the 25.

Stopped her as we were passing by on a road trip. It was a nice stop to have a good breakfast. Staff is so friendly. Im assuming some of the locals go there often the atmosphere was just wonderful.

Old fashioned diner food along with some New Mexican dishes. A bit of a greasy spoon but youll be treated right! I had the fried chicken dinner. Nicely seasoned crispy coating and very juicy inside. The carrots were a bit rubbery but the mashed potatoes and diner gravy were on point that night! Theyre short-staffed but the servers that were there were working hard and still had time to smile! My coffee cup didnt stay empty for very long!

The food was delicious, value was right, and a nice atmosphere but I need to reduce 1 star for wait times (to be seated, to order, to get my food). I assume they are understaffed.

I enjoyed the food and the lady that served me it was a great crowd of ppl was older crowd but I enjoyed the chicken enchiladas red on the side and loved it 😋 😀 😊

I was told this was a great place to eat. I was disappointed it was mediocre at best I know we are in a Covid environment so I will just leave it at that.

We happened in on Sunday afternoon coming home from vacation. Most everywhere in town were closed except fast foods.Food was great and everyone was very nice ! We were pleasantly surprised. Will come back.Suggestion.....clean up parking area to make it more appealing.

Had a very good experience. Our food was very delicious very homemade. Loved the decor very beautiful furniture took me back in time. Highly recommend it if your passing by Las Vegas Colorado .

Coming from out of town and stopping in for a quick breakfast we waited 30 minutes to be seated and and extra 15 just to get drinks waited over an hour for food that was not quality nor good. We did have one nice lady waitress but the host was stuck up with air pods in her ear and taking her time not doing anything they definitely Seat and serve Locals before anyone they dont know its ridiculous. Trust me believe the bad reviews I told my parents that it looked like a good restaurant with 4 stars but all the bad reviews I ignored are true this establishment is not good and I do not recommend this to even someone I dont like

The food here is awesome. Especially there green chili, it has the perfect flavor and spice. They do require masks and temperature checks for all customers. There food was all really good and not to high priced. All of the waitresses were super nice and good at their job except one. Who looked significantly older than all the others. She was not so good. She didnt have any sense of humor and she rarely did any check ups on us. The time to get in is a bit slow because you have to write down a bunch of information on a record sheet. The food however came out pretty fast. The bathroom and the overall building was super clean and well decorated. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice hot breakfast!

One of the only places open later in town. The food was okay and so was the service. This is the kind of place the locals will stare at you when they know you’re from out of town.

Me and my family went to LVNM to visit and every time we go out of town I always ask the locals Wheres the best place to eat.? The gentleman at the hotel suggested to go here so off we went. I had a breakfast burrito smothered in red chili. Its been THREE YEARS since we went and I still cant stop thinking about how delicious the food was. We actually tried to go back after covid hit and things started opening back up. Sadly they were still closed, but certainly understandable. Still cant stop thinking about this little gem we found and are definitely making plans to go back. We may even visit family while were there 🤔😂😂To sum it up, their service was amazing and the food was absolutely unforgettable 👌 If you dont go here, youre missing out 😋

The chef was great. I had the shrimp and pollock fish excellent. The portion small 3 small shrimp and small cuts of fish but excellently cooked. I will there every time Im in Vegas.

They are our go-to restaurant. Always clean, always kind. Update: Even during the covid crisis, the Hillcrest adapted and came through for the city. Comfortable outdoor seating is available. The indoor bathrooms have been remodeled! We are all so proud of Karen and Bill for going out of their way to provide great service! Thank you both!

Great welcoming manager, friendly efficient staff. Law Vegas omelette (7.95+T) free refill coffee, best #omelette in town. Chilli sauce not spicy and is thick. Potatoes fried like an omelette very good - oily but not greasy. Free Wi-Fi, kids welcome, no running space. Walking distance, large Carpark. Very different from all other restaurants in town, very interesting and great atmosphere. Good for dates, popular with locals, best in town award. Must try.

Thanks!***Edit...One year later, and we did not enjoy our visit today. 2 hour wait for food and then the order was wrong. Had to ask for refills. What we ate was ok, but nothing impressive. Hope this was a one time thing. Not sure if we will go back again to check. Poor service and over priced mediocre food.

Amazing breakfast at a reasonable price. The real treasure was the super friendly and kind wait staff! We will be back next time we come through town!

Absolutely terrible. They were quite concerned with doin temperature checks but had no regard for cleanliness. Very dusty and smelled of old stale cigars. The food had absolutely no taste whatsoever. I tried butter, salt, pepper, and nothing helped. Lesson learned.

First time visit seemed to be very popular. We had to wait a while but well worth waiting. The food was great and service was good for the crowd they had. Sunday after Church may not be the best time to visit. We will try them again.

Terrible. 20 minutes just to order. 35min to get our food. Rice was not cooked, tamales very dry. Canned corn as the vegetable that wasnt even warm. The rib eye steak was over done and tasteless. We do not recommend.

Not sure how this place stays afloat. The people werent bad but the food was almost like it was premade. Got charged for a kids meal which was supposed to include drink and ice cream. Never got offered ice cream and got charged separately for the drinks. Adult meals were supposed to include a to and that didnt happen either. Wont be going back.

Overpriced, worst stop of trip. Bathroom doors didnt close nor were the locks matched up to provide privacy. Obviously werent cleaned by anyone in a while due to feces on back of toilet, overflowing garbages and empty soap dispenser. Food was mediocre, we ended up stopping again to eat as no one finished their meal. Our waiter was absolutely disrespectful to our group and didnt deserve the tips we left. Food wasnt even what 2 of us ordered. We waited an hour after ordering, we paid and left rather than complain. Horrible service will make us skip right over this town on future trips.

Such a cute place to eat at! It has an older feel to it. The food was delicious. We all had the hotcakes with bacon and fruit. They were perfect and the blueberry syrup is the real deal. The staff was very nice and friendly. The resturant seemed very clean including the bathroom.

What else can I really say about this place other than I love cooking the food in this wonderful establishment. Coming from a chef that has cooked here for six years, I can honestly say that we serve fresh products and prepare our food with the utmost care any person would expect. Our management and staff are always prepared to take on any situation that comes our way. Nothing is too big to handle. Truly accommodating.

Horrible Experience... if i could give you a zero i would! we waited 1 hour for our food and then when asking the server if our food will be out shortly she said its coming right up. we waited 20 more minutes being respectful and still nothing so we got up and said asked for them to cancel the order. few things we notice while sitting down: A gentleman also canceled his order because it took too long to be brought out and a couple that came in AFTER us got their food before us.

The food was terrific, and the staff was outstanding! Definitely worth a stop the next time we drive through!

This was our 1st time at this restaurant. Food was delicious, service was outstanding. Had the chicken fried steak with red and green smothered. Wife had fried chicken. Both were some of the best we have ever had. Highly recommend.
