It seems Metronet service just gets more expensive and less good as time goes on. It costs almost twice what is it when I signed up 4 years ago and right in the middle of playoff baseball, the system crashed… Sux!

My service was interrupted, the lack of Customer Service is ridiculous. I called on Tuesday, was on the phone with them over an hour last night only to be told after I had been transferred 3 times that they were closing. I still have no service and have already tried Online Support twice this morning and no resolution. Great company unless you have a problem, then good luck.

No way to review for the Ann Arbor area. But i switched from xfinity and havent looked back. They wanted to charge me almost $180 a month for unreliable cable gigabit. Im paying so much less and its so reliable. As someone who used my own equipment for home it works great. With xfinity it was even worse when i used my own equipment. So far since March 2021 it has not gone down unless the power went out. Xfinity every few days would go out for no reason. I hope you all expand around michigan so i can stay.

UPDATE: Metronet quickly reviewed the call logs and rectified the situation. Outstanding customer service and now I’m happy I switched to MetroNet. Prior provider was Xfinity and I doubt they would have dug into this issue.Recently had new service installed. Promised a $250 gift card, only receiving a $50 gift card. Called customer service to resolve and they were unwilling to correct their mistake. My only resolution will be to discontinue service and switch back to Xfinity since they are not willing to honor their commitments to their customers. Very unfortunate, I have enjoyed the service so far. They will be losing many years of service with me.

Everyone I dealt with very nice but that didnt make up for the horrible connectivity. My hotspot is faster and more reliable. I was very excited that they were in my neighborhood at long last but cancelled within a month. Friends who had it installed before it was bought out love it. Everyone I know that has gotten the service since it switched has had terrible service. Such a shame that we had a great local company and are now stuck with this expensive, low quality national company.

Ive never had a more unreliable internet connection than with Metronet. Massive packet loss issues 24/7 mean that I couldnt reliably connect to Zoom meetings without them freezing/jittering every couple minutes. Gaming or video streaming had the same issues. On top of that, at least once a week my modem will suddenly lose all incoming signal and cut off my internet for ~30 minutes.Ive called about these issues multiple times, and at least the techs that come to help are super understanding and nice, but clearly there was something inherently wrong with my fiber install that has never been addressed. The silver lining here is that when my internet is actually on and stable, at least its blazing fast.

Jacked up their price on us after 3 years plus before Metronet when it was still lightspeed. They claim lightspeed was a promo rate and it was not it was the flat cost. Now metronet for no reason other then to pay for their expanding network is jacking up long term customer prices and giving all the goods away to new customers. The customer service is hands down worse then comcast.

Absolutely awful experience recently! Moved to a new house a block over from the old house. Contacted metronet a couple of weeks prior to the move. The costumer service representative I spoke to misunderstood what I wanted and scheduled move for 3 days after we spoke. Called back and cancelled that move order because I didnt have keys yet for the new house. Called closer to the actual move date and was told I already had a move order for the day I wanted at the wrong time, so I asked to have it delayed. Techs showed up several hours early and interrupted the movers, checked the connection, and informed me the signal was not strong enough to provide internet and someone would contact me on Monday. Called local metronet on Monday afternoon as no one contacted me about when I would get internet and was told I should be able to get internet soon and someone would contact me tomorrow. Called back on Wednesday morning due to no contact. Was told well look into it and contact you by the end of business. At this point I asked to receive a call back from a manager, because they conveniently cant be forwarded to. Called Friday morning due to no contact. Was told well look into it and contact you by the end of business. Surprisingly, no one called, so I called back at the end of the day and was told someone would contact me on Monday. Friday evening received a call from a surly engineer who told me he looked at the readings from the move that weekend and there was no way I was getting internet for a couple of months. I finally had an answer that they had ALL ALONG! Never got that call back from that manager... Cancelled my service and havent looked back. Absolutely awful customer service!!!!Update: Turns out I got more lies and empty promises from their customer service team. They never actually cancelled my account and lost my router when I sent it back, so they billed me for ANOTHER MONTH! Took another two days of customer service hell and finally being escalated to a real manager to cancel the account. I wish I could rate them 0 stars.

MetroNet has great internet service. Very fast download/upload speeds. I have had MetroNet for almost one month now. Yet, MetroNet has extremely sub par customer service. After many phone calls, chats, and emails I am still waiting for MetroNet to get my account fixed. A simple transfer of service request has turned out to be a nightmare. Im not sure how to process a new customer request for MetroNet, but as a new customer it should not require multiple phone calls, chats, and emails. Im really confused why this is such a hassle. I just want to pay a bill monthly to MetroNet for the service they provide.

Prior to trying to cancel my services they were excellent. Upon trying to cancel my services their customer services has been horrible. I am promised returned calls I dont receive. They are not willing to help me get the router back to them, and wont cancel my service until they receive the router. I was initially told I could drop my router in a drobox to practice social distancing and avoid contact during this global pandemic. Now they are stating the ONLY option for me is to go to a UPS store, which is outside of my comfort level. Celesta in the call center was beyond rude and should be disciplined for her poor customer services and less than willingness to problem solve.Update - I spoke with Brie who was fabulous and able to find a creative solution that fit both of our needs. For a few months they charged me full price when I did not have their internet service because I was trying to get them to resolve an issue in my apartment building. MetroNet in East Lansing is an absolute no-brainer! Having using the disaster that is Xfinity for many years, I was thrilled to hear that gigabit fiber was coming to my area. As soon as the system said it was available, we subscribed. This did entail them running fiber down a street to get to our house, but they were happy to do so. Installation was quick and I have seen consistent performance that blows my previous service out of the water completely. Weve been on MetroNet for a bit more than a year now. Co-workers in Okemos and elsewhere are so jealous of the reliability and high performance. We tossed Xfinity completely (BTW, if you have ever tried to cancel a Comcast service, you know how hard that can be). We use streaming services for our television and have never once looked back. Its a brave new world with high-speed fiber and streaming. In a few years cable will be dead. If you can get MetroNet fiber, do not hesitate to do so!

I have very mixed feelings when it comes to Metronet. While they provide fiber at good rates, I will be looking for any new fiber ISPs to come into my area so that I can switch from Metronet as soon as I can.I am a resident physician at the University of Michigan. My modem stopped functioning (I have one from the old LightSpeed days) during one of my on-call shifts. I called to explain this to the technical support and asked for my service appointment to be moved up from 3 days in the future to earlier. I received a generic we cannot do earlier and Im sorry, but thats just the way it is. Now I cannot stress enough (and I did to them), I am on call and thus need internet to provide care for patients or will basically have to live in the hospital if my cellphone hotspot becomes unreliable. I have been paying an extra OBLIGATORY $10 per month for the entirety of my time with Metronet for technical support. Its probably been about 200$ by now and when I finally need it, I have to wait 3 days for any support. My modem cannot assign an IP via DHCP to my router or anything plugged in. They claim because my modem (really their modem) is old they cannot provide any virtual support either. Why not upgrade it earlier if they knew this could be a problem would be a very good question to ask, right?Well here I am, the fool for relying on this company. I need reliable internet for my work and like to avoid large monopolies like Comcast / Xfinity on principle but now realize a company like this is not reliable for professionals. If you need fast internet, fine. If you need reliable internet, look elsewhere. For reference: This is not a BBB accredited business and has an F rating by the BBB for their customer service. In response to their response: My account number ends in XXX1271 so it very much exists. This response is approximately as helpful as the customer service has been while I was on-call...

Metro Net has given me countless reasons why they have cancelled our installation date. They came, but then the tech left without telling us.I have had nothing but problems with Metro Net. It has been two weeks of nightmarish attempts to be communicated with on why we havent received a proper installation.December 1st - I scheduled an installation for December 12th, which was the move in day of our new apartmentDecember 7th - I received a call stating that the building needed a MPU and wasnt given any other explanation. Our install was canceledDecember 7th - I messaged support inquiring about if there was an issue with our address. They said they would update the address and we would be called back to set up installation.December 8th - I emailed support in inquire about installation. They replied that it appeared the terminal needed to be installed, and this would take 3-6 weeks. I contacted our property manager to inquire about this and he said it did not make sense, as everyone in the building uses metro net, and the person who moved out 2 months prior to us moving in used Metro Net.December 10th - I called Metro Net and relayed the information from our property manager. They said they would send someone out to check the terminal.December 11th - A technician called and said he had just checked the terminal and said I was all set for installation. I called and set up installation for December 15thDecember 11th - I emailed support and let them know I was frustrated with the delay in installation when they were the ones to cancel. I never heard back.December 15th - The technician arrived to install our router and service. He tried multiple outlets and spent some time in the maintenance room in the basement. He said he had to check something downstairs and left without telling us.December 15th - I called Metro Net to inquire why the tech left and we did not have services installed. I was told I would be called back but wasnt.December 15th - I called again to inquire on what was going on. I was told they were checking in with dispatch. The agent on the phone said I cant promise Ill call you back today, or even tomorrow. I dont work tomorrow so I definitely wont be calling you tomorrow.December 16th - I called in the morning to again inquire what was going on with installation. I was told I would be called back.December 16th - I called again and was told that Metro Net bought a local internet company that installed original services, and they were unaware of the layout of our building or if there was enough light to give service to our apartment. I inquired on when I would know and they said they couldnt give me any time range. They said they were trying to sync the departments but dont know when that would happen.December 16th - Our property manager stopped by and showed me the attic with ethernet ports which the technician never went into. I called back and inquired if this was helpful knowledge and was told it was not.My husband and I both work from home, and my husband is starting online questions this week. Internet access is imperative to our careers, and my husbands success as a student for which we just paid a lot of money for. Due to Covid, we no longer have access to offices. I was proactive in setting up this service almost 2 weeks prior to our move in date. I have been given countless different excuses on why we arent receiving services. I have been told multiple times I would be called back, and have not.

Avoid MetroNet. First problem is when they shipped the router. They dumped the router loose into a thin bubble mailer with only the power adapter. No ethernet cable or instruction. It came off as very unprofessional. Second problem is the hidden fees. $5 billing fee, $10 Technology service fee, $20 router rental, $20 Service and Handling fee. This is more than doubled the actual cost of the internet, which is $49.99.

However, they still continued to charge my credit card another month because they didnt receive the router in the mail before my next billing date. Mind you, I requested my service be cancelled on 3/15 and I paid for the complete month of March. I really didnt have a problem with that. But then when they billed me for April. I ditched Comcast and decided to take a chance with LightSpeed. Best choice I ever made. Fast service and the installation process was super quick. The tech even stayed to make sure all devices were connected. Thanks LightSpeed!!!!

MetroNets employees are terrible, with them repeatedly either making things up or downright lying. On the day they were scheduled to come out and setup my already working internet, they broke it, lied about what broke, refused to give requested updates, and over a month later I am still without internet. Heres the story:I had scheduled MetroNet to come out and install a modem in the house I just bought the following day sometime between 12pm-5pmOn November 25, I arrived at the house and noticed the previous owner, who also had MetroNet, had left their modem, so I plugged in and used it until 4:30pm when the previous owner contacted me and let me know they had to return itOn November 26, I emailed MetroNet asking what happened. I was told that there was no more room at the terminal to plug a new connection in. I explained that I did not need a new connection, but simply needed a new modemOn November 29, I was told that on Monday when the technicians were scheduled to head to my house, they discovered that someone else had moved into the neighborhood and another technician had unplugged my fiber because the terminal was full. This cannot be true, I was using the connection all day Monday. Now, I am a network engineer by trade and so I used my fiber detector to plug into the fiber in my house to detect there was still light coming through the fiberOn December 6, I called MetroNets customer support and explained the situation. The tech I talked to said that my house was listed twice, once with the previous owner, once with me. This made the terminal appear full despite the fact it wasnt. The tech said she would note my account and scheduled an install on the 10th, between 12pm-5pmOn December 10, no one showed up nor did anyone call. At 4:45pm, I called support and was told that my fiber had been unplugged at the other end and that the terminal was full. When I pointed out that my fiber had to be plugged in at the other end because there was a signal coming out, I was told that fiber generates its own signal. Uh, no... thats not how fiber works. I was told the engineers were working on a solution and would contact me within a couple of daysOn December 13, on received an email with a survey asking how I liked the service so far… so the following day, I filled out the survey, explaining that I did not have service and would be canceling on December 16 if I did not have an install dateOn December 16, I received a phone call that evening from MetroNets tech support claiming that there was a hardware failure and that they were waiting for a replacement part to arrive. While the tech did not give me an exact date, he did say it shouldnt be more than two weeks. I asked to receive updates every Monday until the problem was resolved, even if the update was there is no update. The tech assured me he personally would provide the update. Naturally I did not receive an update and asked whyOn December 25, I was told that nothing has happened since last time. The tech also let it slip that the team that was supposed to working on it was refusing to return his calls. He assured me hed provide an update the following MondayThat was the last contact I had with MetroNet, its been nearly two weeks since I was promised an update.Again, Im a network engineer, things do happen, I get that. But breaking a users internet on the day you were supposed to install it and not even making an attempt to fix it for over a month is wrong. If a users internet breaks, you fix it ASAP. MetroNet has demonstrated that their installers are lazy, their tech support is willing to lie to their customers, and their engineers dont know what theyre doing. They have shown they dont talk to each other internally, which explains why nothing is getting doneIf youre considering MetroNet as your ISP, dont, youre gonna have to jump through hoops to get it installed. And even if it is installed, if something breaks you may be out for months without warning

Tried transferring service into a new name after I moved. Its been nothing but headache, runaround, miscommunication and several office visits for what should have been an incredibly simple process.Just go with Comcast if youre renting.Edit: So, after 6 attempts, I have finally returned my equipment. Their office was closed every time I attempted, including the last time - I had to ring the doorbell about 10 times and finally call the support phone # to get someone to answer the door. This was after I had called ahead to make sure someone was there (they assured me there was). Overall, a totally bizarre and unprofessional experience. It seriously felt like I was in a David Lynch movie. The person who received my equipment was polite and professional, and helped me even though she told me Were not supposed to accept returns at this location (phone support gave me the address). Now we wait to see if their billing department is capable of updating my final bill, after they attempted to bill me for over $400 (no consumer grade router is worth $400) for equipment Ive been trying to give back to them for months. I cant help feel like they have intentionally made the return process difficult in order to upcharge people.Ill continue to update as my 3 month saga with Metronet (hopefully) comes to a close.FINAL EDIT: My saga has finally come to a close! After getting some more run around about marking my equipment as returned, my account was finally closed out, and I was informed I wouldnt receive a final bill. I called to confirm a few days later, and there was a final balance of $60 remaining on my account (of course their was). At this point, I was willing to pay it just to wash my hands and be rid of this nightmare. Good riddance.

Every time I have had any issues of any kind, I receive fast, accurate customer service. It’s also heartening that the same tech has come out every time we need him to help, meaning he remembers us and is able to help more easily than some mercenary from the cable company, trying to keep up with an impossible schedule. Also the internet speed is fast enough to play on two video game consoles at once, while streaming HD video in another room. With speed to spare

Im sure there service is awesome but i wouldnt know. Have been waiting for, literally, years for there technicians to build infrastructure in my part of town. I contacted support after checking their website every few months about the expanding service area. All I got was something about permits and to keep waiting. Review posted after their automated system asked for it and provided a link.Company refuses to take my money. Going to stick with Comcast because *SigH* Im forced to.

We got great speeds when it was LightSpeed. MetroNet took over and now we literally have to disconnect our WiFi on our cell phones to search anything on the internet, or get things to load in apps. Unfortunate that LightSpeed had such a great reputation, and we could see why, but that was sold as well when MetroNet came into the picture. We will not be using MetroNet once our contract is up

Fast internet, great price, stellar installation. One of the things I liked the best was that I had an actual installation time, instead of a window. The installer called me personally to tell me hed be a little late, and then showed up when he said. This is FAR better than well be there sometime between 9AM and 6PM. The installer had to run a line into the house, and vacuumed up afterwards. Very happy with the service.

Had this service for years under Lightspeed, now MetroNet. Five years at least. We had to cancel the credit card that was registered for payment, recieved one email and then cut off service with no warning. Corrected our issue, and MetroNet stated that we would have to return our equipment and reapply for service. They would not simply turn us back on. Wow. Fat Chance we will be going back to these guys!

Fast speeds arent half of speeds that are advertised. No problems with Lightspeed until Metronet took over in the buyout. I used to get 1 gig up and down when paying for 1 gig services. Now I can only hope to get a little less than half of the speed for the same price. Lightspeed never had nearly this many random outages, either.Great choice for the price (if theyre in your area). Certainly beats most of the local competition. However, not getting speeds as advertised is the bane of any budding ISP.

Been checking availability in East Lansing since 2018. Their website always said it was available. Ordered the service over a month ago and was told then that the construction team is working on it. In other words, they falsely advertised availability in my area.Just called them for updatr. Their lightspeed business has no clue what is going on.

A very responsive and quick customer service turn around via email rather than having to call in with an automated switchboard directing your call via Please tell me what you want and sending you to the wrong destination. Also, the speed is much cleaner and simpler than what I was being provided by previous service providers: ACD or ATT.Thanks again LS! :)

Ive been a lightspeed customer for over 2 years. The service was great until the harassment started. Every couple of days Lightspeed shows up to my house and starts banging on my door asking me if Ive tried Lightspeed. I was polite the first 3 times. The 4th and 5th time I was just annoyed. The 6th and 7th time I was confrontational and asked them to stop. They just showed up for the 8th time and Im livid because I cant even take a nap on a Sunday afternoon without them harassing me. Yes, at this point its harassment and I have no reason to continue my service. I called their customer service line and got the run around about how these are outside sales teams... its an excuse and not my problem. This company just got bought out and its sinking already. It might be time to abandon ship.

At first I was very excited when I moved to a new house to be able to have lightspeed again, and now I wish I had never contacted them. The night before my installation appointment, they cancelled the appointment due to the fact that they were at capacity in my area and I was told that it would take several weeks to complete construction. Two weeks later, while Im out of state, I get a text that I have an appointment in two hours. An appointment I did not schedule. Apparently they sent me an email with an appointment time, that I did not see, and then without confirmation showed up that day expecting me to have known. Now, they will barely take my calls, and I was told they would follow up via email which basically resulted in a crappy you messed up not us email. I was charged 124 dollars for service and installation, none of which has been refunded, and have no idea what the status is on my account. I keep calling and get sent to leave a voicemail, and then my call is not returned. They have told me the 124 is cheaper alternative to the cancellation and appointment fees I should actually be paying, basically, that they were doing me a favor. I recieved a snotty email from the CEO Jason that was so unprofessional, it was ridiculous. STILL have no idea whats happening, waiting for them to call me right now as I have left many messages.

Install day, the first set of installers did it wrong and so our service was out within 4 hours. Second installera get it rightFree 7 days of live service, great. Paid and started out by the live service being down the first 24 hours. Now weve had the service paid for one week and were experiencing our third service problem but now the internet as a whole is down.Customer service has been slow each time. Sure you can text ans get a text back in an hour or so. You can call and be put in the queue to hear back in an hour or so. No doubt email is the sameSave your money.
