Rebecca Porter is the most disrespectful and unprofessional person I have ever encountered. She went off on me after trying to discuss how they didnt explicitly tell their tenant in china after her apartment caught fire without her knowledge. They sent her one email stating they needed to get in contact with her. She heard the news from me 4 days after the fire took place.We were simply helping our friends, her tenants, move out at the time given for them to secure their items from the burn place. None had been yelling or threatening at any time as we were out of breath moving furniture and boxes. All witnesses can stand by that.My claim is completely factual. Rather then being level headed and talking in person I could only get a response from her in a google review. Im sorry I had to scoop so low.This is a company and should act as such.I do not recommend trying to sign with them!

I have had the pleasure of working at Four Horizons Realty for the last couple of years. Recently we had disaster strike. Watching my broker and manager deal with this situation confirms that I made the right choice in working here. They have bent over backwards doing everything they can for our tenants that have been displaced due to no fault of theirs or ours. I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful team.

I have never met a more disrespectful person than Four Horizons property manager Rebecca Porter. She and her father/owner Doug Porter run the most unprofessional rental company I have ever seen. There were so many times they came in without prior notice and its not because I called them to fix something.When one of their apartment buildings caught on fire, I tried to help my friends moved out of their burnt apartment and I came across Rebecca saying I understand this situation has been traumatic for them [the tenants], but it has been traumatic for us too. Its really not the same, she didnt watch her apartment burn down with all of her life belongings and personal documents. She didnt suddenly have no where to go in one morning. She also never contacted a tenant, who at the time was in China, about their apartment being caught on fire, claiming I tried but no one replied so its not my problem anymore.In my experience, if you have any complaints, Rebecca refuses to listen and she would laugh at your face. Personally, I think its clear that they are very rude, greedy, and they have extremely bad customer service.

Rude, deceitful, and greedy are just about the NICEST words I can think of when it comes to Four Horizons. They only care about profit. They assume since they most likely work with younger students they can do whatever they please and not face consequences. The way they have treated my friends over the past week is despicable. They dont deserve anyone elses money.

They impose too much. On the lease it states you need to be notified before entry, they come in whenever they please. How rude could they be invading my space on their time without maintenance requested.

I dont know whats going on here, but its kind of scary. These people are full of duplicity and deceitfulness. I booked an appointment to look at a house, but when the time came to see it, the guy tried to switch in a different home on me. They proceeded to insult me and to say that we were never meant to look at the home they agreed to show me, even though I have written evidence proving otherwise. It was very odd. Their behavior was not normal. They are crooked as a corkscrew!

The most disrespectful and questionable rental company in Kirksville. Absolutely avoid signing anything with them, they will try to squirm their way out of any accountability or responsibility for their properties.My friend developed an allergy to 7 types of molds which likely resulted in an autoimmune disease while living in the Boardwalks because they refused to come clean out the excessive mold growing on the bathroom ceiling. When this concern was brought to the office, Rebecca laughed in her face and told her that she couldnt fully prove it was their building (which it absolutely was).Doug belittles you if you present any concern, especially if you are a woman. I had concerns and wanted to turn in my key early but was afraid of the possibility of them losing it (with their habit of taking time to submit checks, not fully checking properties between leases, and other business practices I did not have high hopes) so I wanted something signed to confirm the return and he was more focused on telling me no and would not listen to me without interrupting and calling me Honey or Lady. When I told him not to call me honey he looked genuinely mad and shut down, eventually saying What would you like me to call you, something worse?I could go on with how poorly they manage their properties and how it is clear they are only focused on money and manipulating/taking advantage of their tenants. Bottom of the line is, AVOID SIGNING WITH THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS

I needed a step added to the front door step-up for my safety (because I am an elder with mobility problems. And it was placed in short order. I also needed a new door with a screen in it in order to have a cross draft through the house in order to save on air conditioning on less hot days. That was also provided in a very reasonable amount of time! Courteous, helpful staff! Thank you!

I think Four Horizons Realty is an excellent place to rent your house. I rented a house when I was a dental student in Kirksville and they were fantastic in getting back to me right away when I had a problem in the house. My landlord was so so nice and was always helpful when I encounter a problem. One time, my washer was not working and my landlord came to fixed it within 1 hours after I contacted him. There were many more times when he did the same thing. I would recommend renting from Four Horizons Realty 100%! I have to say that Four Horizons Realty is the best place I have ever rented from! Everyone there is really nice and helpful and I am so glad I rented from them the whole time I was living there.

Four Horizons isnt very compliant with Tenant needs. They didnt care about my wifes health condition and denied her the needs that TWO different physicians prescribed. They claim they are worried about damages done to their complexes, but they dont care to fix anything. The attic doors are busted and the draft has been coming in making the place super cold for a couple months now. When they cleared the parking lot, the drove the plow into the grass and dug up a bunch of grass which made the lawn really lumpy and muddy. They are also trying to get everyone to pay more when they re-sign their leases, but from what Ive been told by my previous landlords, thats not legal.Windows leak air. Not all the windows lock. The plumbing breaks down a lot and different things get clogged. Dish washer doesnt really clean. Cabinets are too small. There are plenty of better options out there.

NEVER RENT FROM FOUR HORIZONS. They never repair things in a timely manner or even properly and will randomly show up at your home without calling. They also lied about receiving an email from me about leaving a few large furniture items in the home until the weekend and took over $1000+ worth of my belongings to the dump and tbh didn’t even apologize.They are rude people and terrible at maitainece. FOUR HORIZONS SUCKS. If zero stars was an option, I’d give them that.

We rented a 2 bed house from 4 Horizons for two years. While the house was not in the best shape (the carpet was very warn and the last tenants didnt clean very well) it still was perfect for my wife and I. During the two years we needed to have the maintenance staff come to our house 4 times. Each time we called or used the online maintenance request we were always treated very respectfully and the problem was usually solved in a day or two. Once we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house and called the after hours number and the manager Doug came out to our house to let us in less than 15 minutes after we called. The staff is very friendly and they really do try and make things right. When we moved out we got our full deposit back minus the required carpet cleaning which is in every lease. I had friends that rented through other companies and I promise 4 Horizons is great company to rent from.

I had no problems with them. The guy showing us places wasnt too enthused with his job but they always came to fix things when needed and were fair on deposit when we moved out.

Do not use Four Horizons. Use someone else. When I left school it was to be with my family. It was tough enough moving to another place and starting anew. Doing this and having someone you trusted snatch money from your hands was even tougher. Four Horizons went one step further. Not only did they keep our security deposit, but they sent us a bill for $2k. If they had any kind of real reason, they would return my calls and requests. All they can say is it was for the damage my dog did to the carpet. For all those who know me, this must seem strange. Does anyone remember me having a dog? I dont, but I may be mistaken. Four Horizons cheated me to try and impress a client they were trying to keep.Do you want to rent from someone who wrongfully steals from a young family trying to survive?

Incredibly incompetent and unhelpful staff, filthy housing, along with a greedy and disrespectful property owner led to an unsatisfactory and subpar living experience. Do not sign with four horizons.

If you rent from Four Horizons, make sure to take a check-in / check-out picture of the stove/oven. Apparently leaving it better than you found it is not good enough and they still charge you for dirty stove/oven. This has happened TWICE. Never renting from them again.

Bad management, not helpful, there was a small burn (size of a bean )on May carpet and they charged 96$.

I am an ATSU univeristy Faculty. Iv rented a 2 bedroom apartment from Four Horizons last year just infront of northeastern hospital.my experience was so negative due to 2 main points :1- they ENTER the apartment any time WITHOUT even NOTIFYING ME! and when i went there and asked to be notified, the man was SO RUDE and said they dont have time to notify me!although this is totally illegal to do!2- they ASKED ME TO MOVE EARLIER than my contract end date. I had to talk to new house owner and arranged to move 2 weeks earlier and called them back to tell them I arranged to move 2 weeks earlier. later, they DENIED ASKING ME to move earlier and charged me full month payment instead of half month.they only fair thing about them is that when ever i need maintanance it comes soon.be very careful with this office in case you have to rent any of their properties.

I drove for 3 hours from St Louis and when I arrived they didnt even open the door for me and told me to come later and talked to me through the window only!!! They end up not showing me anything, they denied that I made appointment with them even though I gave them my name and phone number and all other information. They are the most disrespectful people I ever encountered in Kirksville.

Please pay attention to the overseas students in Kecun. When this company takes you in China, your house will not be contacted if your house is burned. If you want you to continue to pay the rent, your friend will ask about this and his staff will yell. You, maybe this is capitalism.
