Our plan was delayed which meant no car rental for us it was after 5pm. A taxi was $180 to the house & would be another $180 back. Had to rent a car from another location only to drive an hour to our house to come back the next day to get our per paid one due to not being able to get a refund. When we got the car the windows are so nasty you can’t even see out of them at night. Do not rent from this location. I was told we wouldn’t get any money back from the rental even though we didn’t get our car for one day. Nice car just not clean.

I dont know what other people did, but our experience with Dollar went off without a hitch. Picked up the car a few minutes early. The woman at the counter explained the extra fees for tolls and gas. The drop off at Ft. Myers airport was smooth and we were not charged anything extra.

7/11/2021 Rented a car through Expedia using this company. Had the rental scheduled for 1:30 pm, flight delays got us to the airport around 2:30 pm. Despite delays the car was not available. When asking the person up front when I could get a rental I was told that they dont have a car. When asked how long it would be I was told that they have no idea and that people could return the cars at anytime but they dont have any time frame on when cars might be returned. I was unable to receive any estimate on how long, not even confirmation on if they would have my car that day. Its a waste of time to even reserve a car as that apparently means nothing. I was forced to use Avis, a car rental place next to them, and was lucky as they had one car available, despite being $400 more expensive. But I needed something to drive for the week and couldnt wait for whenever a car would randomly appear at Dollar.

Absolutely do not rent a vehicle from this business! They charged me a $9.99 administrative fee for $6.50 in tolls from Key West to Miami, which resulted in a $76.43 charge! I don’t even understand how they’re allowed to do this since it’s clearly price gouging. The agent didn’t even tell us that there was an option to rent a toll pass so clearly they are just trying to make as much money possible through nefarious business practices.

Worst car rental agency I have ever dealt with. Reserved and paid for a car for 12:00 pick up was told with attitude and rudeness they do not have a car to sit and wait. Will not refund. It is now 230 and still no car. Why would you rent a car and schedule for pick up and not have a car available and be extremely rude about it. It’s not my fault you don’t have a car you were supposed to have.

Just in case your flight is delayed and you don’t land before 5 pm local time to pick up your reserved vehicle…. it would be wise to just avoid booking with Dollar or Hertz. Stick with Enterprise, they’re the only company open.

Dollar rental refused to honor a Priceline reservation. She said she didn’t have any cars. She would not check and tell us when they would expect a car to be returned, or switch us to a car from another company. Kept yelling over us, “Next, Next..”, The Dollar rep at the counter in Key west airport refused to tell me her name or let me speak to her manager. I took a picture of her and have a video of her calling me “Karen”, as we left the counter. Unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I will never use Dollar car Rental again.

Very terrible customer service from a manager herself. Very rude and Nasty Ana.. It’s too long to details what had happened but she knows very well is kind of nasty!! You should not be in customer service business if you have that attitude. No wonder how Dollar Company in key west got a very poor reviews..Never again!’

Such a shady place stay away from renting here ! For every $1.34 tolls they charged me $9.99 administrative fee that racked up my toll bill for over $100 for tolls worth $12. This is ridiculous!!Be aware of their scams

Make sure to check what your actual total is going to be, the Total they give you is before taxes and fees which added $200+ to our $403 price that we booked online. Car was very dirty and had an old bouquet of flowers and an large bottle of iced tee in the trunk which shows they did not clean the car at all between rentals.

Made an online reservation. Went to the desk and they said they cant honor reservation. Furthermore, the receptionist had an attitude. Thats why their reviews are so terrible.

I reserved a vehicle, called ahead of time to ensure that my reservation was good to go, payed for an Uber to get there and was told on arrival that there was a slim to none chance I was going to get that reservation since there were people that had made reservations that still hadnt gotten them.The best part was when I called to figure out why they took down my card information despite knowing they wouldnt have cars and they hung up every time. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone even if youd broken both your legs and needed to make it to the hospital asap.

Great low price car rentals friendly staff easy in and out airport location.

What a set of liars. In Miami the Dollar Car Rental agent said our drop off location in Key West was the Key West Airport. The day before our flight we called to make sure of our drop off location - again being told the Key West Airport.We arrived at the airport in plenty of time to turn in the car and check-in for our flight home. We looked everywhere for a drop off spot. None to be found. We finally went inside and were informed by another car rental company that Dollar Car Rental was on the other side of the island.We called and finally spoke to someone at Dollar and explained that we did not have time to drive across the island and return in plenty of time. We told them that we wanted to leave the car at the airport. Then they started threatening me about any loss that could occur if I left it at the airport. We were told that we would have plenty of time to get back to the airport for our flight.So we drove to Dollar’s across island location and they eventually got us too the airport. We were not allowed to check our bags because we were too late. The airplane was already boarding. We had to run across the tarmac to catch our flight. The airline asked why we were late and simply said we were lied to by Dollar Car Rental. They stated that was a frequent complaint. The airline made an exception for us an let us board - as they were closing their door. On the plane a frequent Key West visitor ask why we barely got on the plane. She too confirmed the problem with using Dollar Car Rental.All of this because everyone at Dollar lied to us. They are way too cheap to have a location at the airport. Instead, they choose to lie to they customers.Do not use Dollar Car Rental if you expect to rent the car and fly out of Key West Florida.

When I picked up my rental late at night from this location, I didn’t notice that the gas was empty. I called maintenance the next morning to make a claim and they told me to give the claim number to the agent once the vehicle is dropped off. When I arrived at the FT. Lauderdale air port the agent could not find any notes about my claim. They told me that the maintenance department does not communicate with the customer service department. So now, I basically gave Dollar free gas for a vehicle that was supposed to be filled up prior to me retrieving it. This is an extreme disservice. Anyone that rents from this company please inspect EVERYTHING. They are not looking out for your best interest.

By far the most poorly run or staffed rental location. Not sure if its low staffing or just poor management.

Like other reviews, we have had a bad experience. We were told at Ft Lauderdale, to return the car at the Key West Airport. I arrived at the rental car drop off to find the other rental car companies represented by lot staff. There was no Dollar lot staff. There were no instructions. Thankfully one of them directed me to the Dollar area of the lot for car drop off. We called to endure that they registered that the car was dropped off. This has left us in a state of anxiety about the car throughout our entire vacation in Key West. Whoever is managing the Key West Location appears to be an absent manager.

Had to return the car at 430am for an early flight. We did not find an open gas station so we had to return it with a half tank of gas. They charged me $9.99 a gallon for 6.5 gallons of gas when the local price is well under $3 A gallon. I understand a mark up but this is highway robbery especially since there werent any stations open to fill it. I will never EVER let them have another penny of mine!!!

Dollar & Thrifty are the same - same cars, same staff, same prices, & now Hertz is with them. The service is standard - minimal line, but nice staff. This time, they did not have an economy car as I had reserved, & they said they would charge me extra for a mid size, but not more for a minivan, so I took that. But it was too big too drive so I brought it back the next day & they got me a compact, without problem. Later, our return flight was cancelled so wanted to keep the car for an extra day - the toll free reservations people were quoting me much higher prices, but the airport staff charged me a reasonable amount. The car rental area at the airport is literally right there so you dont have to go anywhere for the paperwork or the car.

Found out that we had EMG family as unexpected and asked this worker for change plan end up cost us $1,900-$1,100 for this fuxk change plan to put it different place not same place. It’s awful, so my strong recommend that DO NOT rent this car at this company... it’s rip off, I found other different company is better and very understand and open to discuss and they know what do with this price, scoff so wonderful we missed out my emg family, pray for our family...

If you want to rent a filthy car from a rude employee, rent a car from Dollar! I had to purchase Lysol wipes to clean the nasty sunblock off of the doors, seats, seat belts and steering wheel. The employee was not truthful in explaining the cost of an extra driver, horrible overall experience!!

Staff ok. Vehicle very dirty inside. mechanically probably not where it should be. Had to fill tires with air constantly no holes just old and cracked.

Not only did they not have the vehicle we reserved months ahead of time, but the staff was not helpful and clearly unhappy in their work.

The worst company, of all. never use this company. I reserved the car for a few days, but on arrival, I was told that the car is not ready and it is necessary to wait more than half an hour. agent Angie very rudely answered and did not even apologize.

Rented car here for our little trip to the US.Picked it up in Orlando and dropped it off at Key West. Both pickup and drop off were incredibly easy. Upon pickup, clerk was nice and did not try to oversell extra services. We were free to choose car among those they had standing.
