I have had literally a dozen cars over the last 25 years serviced here. Rich is always super personable and responsive. He is honest and does excellent work. Kings Auto is on the other side of the Greater Akron area and Ive had cars towed to him rather than get them worked on more locally.When he retired I will have to start walking everywhere.

Took my car in due to muffler/gasket problem randomly one day on my way into work. Called work took a half day. Was able to get my car in right away. He was so kind and friendly. You can tell hes an honest man. Fixed and was right on my way within an hour. Very pleased with the results and will definitely be recommending Kings Auto to anyone in the nearby area. Honest. Old fashioned auto care. Will refer you to another garage or dealer if it is in your better interest which is super honest. Definite 5 stars. Only problem is they are too busy sometimes.

The best place to get your car fixed! My car was being excessively loud, Mr. King took it apart and fixed it while we waited. Its running beautifully now, and he only charged me $40. Hes the greatest!

I have had two serious, bad experiences and am posting to warn anyone whos thinking of taking their car here.I had my car towed to his shop after experiencing continuous no-start and trusted the positive reviews. He breezed through diagnosing my car, told me it was damaged beyond repair, and that I should junk it. I decided to get a second opinion and took my car to another mechanic. They were able to fix the issue for under $700. My car is still on the road today, but would not be if I listened to his bad advice and lazy diagnosis.Two years later, my car started experiencing intermittent no-start issues and I had it towed to his shop. Before I had it towed, I diagnosed the problem myself and found the single part Id need and the cost of the part. I figured he had made an honest mistake in the diagnosis last time and it was worth trying his services again.I was wrong.I told him exactly what was wrong and what part I thought (but really knew) needed replacing . He was patronizing and talked down to me while re-explaining the issue to me, not knowing I had done my research. He told me it would be complicated and take over 2-3 hours of labor time because he had to get in the engine and remove a lot of parts. I had assumed I didnt have the tools to do it myself, which is why I brought it in. He then told me that the part would cost 3x the average amount it actually does. I towed the car home, went online, and found out all I had to do was unclip the air filter and unscrew 2 screws to replace the part. I replaced it myself in under 15 minutes and it was a repair any person with the most basic set of tools could do.This man is a predator and has no integrity. If you are a college student, not a local, come without your parents, or he knows you dont have experience with cars, he WILL take advantage of you. He will exaggerate the costs of repairs and misdiagnose your car for his personal gain. Many of the glowing reviews are from people who didnt take the time to research their own problems and are satisfied with throwing money at the problem to get their car running again.Please ask your friends and family for recommendations for HONEST mechanics in the Kent/Stow area, do NOT take your car here.

I had a really good experience here and Ill definitely be coming back with any car troubles or care needs. My car was making a strange noise, and he checked it out and explained to me that it was nothing to worry about, nothing needed to be fixed. Very honest. He also gave me a great and quick oil change, topping off all my liquids. Great guy, great place.

Dont take your car anywhere else!DETAILED VERSION: Getting my car fixed was a long story in the making, but it brought me to Rich at Kings Auto Repair which I am highly grateful for. I am not from the area, and when my car broke down my friend looked at it for me as he typically is great with cars. Well, in my case he wasnt. My friend messed up my car quite a bit, but after a recommendation from my professor I had my car towed to Rich. The whole way through he called me to keep me updated on anything and everything, and as all the other reviews state he is an amazing and nice guy. Even just through phone conversations I could tell that this is something he truly loves to do. Despite all the problems my friend caused (and there was a lot), he got my car running again and in a great amount of time. His pricing is also extremely fair. He is also very willing to just chat with you over the phone even if you just have questions about something your car is doing before even taking it in. If I EVER have car problems while in the area again I will not hesitate for a moment to give him a call. I am extremely thankful for all that he has done for me. Short version: Rich is a honest businessman, dont hesitate to take your car to him.Service experience: I had an ancient Jeep that was definitely already on life support when it developed a rust out, probably smaller than a square foot on the drivers side floor. The actual frame was unaffected. I took it to two other shops and explained that I would probably have the car for another year at most and would like the least expensive option to keep water from pooling on the driver floor when it rained. I was quoted $600 from one local shop and they said the repair wouldnt hold without me paying another additional amount for an oil spray. The second shop I tried wanted $800 because he did quality work that he guaranteed for the life of the vehicle (he went out of business two weeks later). The car was probably worth $2,000 at the most so either option seemed ridiculous. I went to a car dealer to look into trading it in, the car salesman told me that if I continued to drive the car with the hole that the car could completely fold in half while driving. Needless to say I left there immediately. Then I went to Rich and explained my situation. He installed a metal patch that fixed the issue and only charged me $80! I ended up keeping the car for another three years and the repair held the entire time.

Honestly, Rich is the best mechanic I have entrusted my car with. His prices are fair, his service excellent. He came highly recommended to me. He also makes time for my car when I have an emergency or even if Ive missed my last oil change. Wouldnt go anywhere else.

My daughters vehicle was making a slight grinding noise near the rear brake area when she was backing up. I told her I thought it might be a brake problem. Since I live out of state I told her to go a local garage. She originally went to the local ford dealership. Not my choice. They checked it out and told her she needed rear brake shoes, drums, front brake, rotors, etc. to the tune of $1,184.00. I looked up local repair shops on line. I was fortunate to speak with Rich at Kings. He said to have her bring it over and he would look at it. He spend nearly an hour looking over her vehicle, he checked everything. He found nothing wrong and he did not charge her a dime. It is nice to have a Honest and Competent businessman for my daughter to deal with. Thank you Rich!!

Kings Auto is amazing. Mr. King is one of the kindest, most genuine people you will ever meet. Hes honest, even if it means he wont make money off of you. Multiple times hes looked at both mine and my husbands cars free of charge, and told us what our best course of action was (even if it meant we didnt spend a dime). We recently came in to see why my husbands car was running so loudly, and after informing us that the oil being used wasnt heavy enough, he didnt even charge us to change it after finding out my husband was an Army vet. Hes a trustworthy knowledgeable guy and I cannot recommend him enough!

Theres a reason why Kings gets such great reviews: Rich is an honest mechanic who knows his stuff. Period. He has always provided excellent service, and has saved me countless dollars over the years. He even recommended that I try doing a job myself (and offered numerous, helpful tips about how to accomplish the task) when I realized it was out of my price range for an older vehicle. I cant recommend Kings strongly enough.

Id give them more than five starts if I could! I had trouble with my brakes when out of town, and I called six places with good reviews hoping to get some help. Rich at Kings was the only person who even called me back. :( He got my car in first thing that morning, sent me to a local store to buy a part he did not have in stock, and took care of my brakes in about an hour. He was very friendly, explained what he was doing, and helped me understand what I should tell my dealership when I returned to my hometown. Cost was very reasonable, and I felt I could trust him to be fair and honest. Top notch.

I took my car here recently because I noticed some coolant leaking out. The gentleman that was working looked over my engine for a few moments and then did a pressure test on it. He told me that my head gasket was bad and hed need to send me to his guy in Chapel Hill, and that it was going to cost $2500-3000. Needless to say, I felt like I was about to faint in the parking lot considering Ive only had my car a year. I took my car to another mechanic shop and they informed me that it was not, in fact, the head gasket at all, but a faulty water pump and purge valve, pricing me out at $550. I probably have a few more gray hairs from the week I spent terrified that I was going to spend $3000 on something that wasnt even the cause of the issue at all.

I have lived in a different part of the country for 8 years and still make it a point to get my car serviced here when I visit family on the holidays. Even my favorite mechanics where I live arent in the same league as Richard King. He even helps me diagnose (and sometimes repair!) issues over the phone when my car is giving me trouble. The best youre gonna find anywhere.

Kings Auto is a fantastic shop. Rich is very knowledgeable with cars, very capable, and very honest. Ive taken my car to his shop twice, got my car fixed and running great! His prices are better than any youll find, and the quality of the work is unmatched. I would recommend Kings Auto hands down.

Im very skeptical about repair shops, and i absolutely hate the types that will try to sell you services you dont need, for outlandish prices. I was very happy to see that the positive reviews on google about this place were accurate. I had my front brake pads and rotors repaired quickly, with high attention to detail at Kings Auto Repair. Fair prices, honest analysis, great service, I highly recommend this place!

I went to Rich because of the rave reviews he received on the internet. He seems like a very nice guy. I am female and dont know much about the cars but trusting him for the repairs. He charged $300 for the exhaust pipe replacement over winter. Six months later, it sounded like no exhaust pipe again. I stopped by Autozone, the guy showed me the big hole on the pipe under the car and said it was not replaced but patched only. Truly disappointed. There was another major repair needed to be done on the car earlier the year, I checked his quote with car dealer and found the price at the dealership is less than half of what he quoted. I did go back and asked him for faulty repair money back. Buyers be aware!

Ive been taking my car to Rich for years. My husband and I dont trust anyone else. Hes honest and so very reasonably priced. He wont bullshit you about parts you dont need and does a great job in fixing what needs done. He doesnt treat female customers like they are idiots to be bilked out of money like other places in the area. Rich is a great guy and very kind, best mechanic Ive ever gone to. :-)

Honestly, I read tons of good reviews on this place so i figured id try them out. Never will I do that again. I am a mechanically knowledgable person but being at college I have no tools or room to work on my car. The owner tried to convince me the problem was much bigger than it actually was. Knowing that it wasnt the problem I told him forget it. I then took it to somewhere else and I was correct he just tried to scam me out of almost $2000! Avoid this place at all costs.

This is my first car that is a 2008 Honda Element that I got in the Spring. This week (oct 30th) was the first time I had to use the heat and realized that it would not work, the fans were blowing away but it was ice cold. I had a friend look at it and he suggested that I got to a repair shop to get a professional opinion as he suspected i was the heater core that would need to be replaced. Going into Kings entirely prepared to have to drop around $1000 or more to get the heater core replaced. After looking at my car for 2 minutes he found that the lever that switches the vents from AC to heat had gotten jammed. He flipped it manually and showed me how to do it in case it happens again. The best part is HE DIDNT CHARGE ME A SINGLE PENNY!!!!!! With my extreme lack of car knowledge and my desperation he could have easily taken the opportunity and replaced the heater core anyway and charged me full price but he didnt. I will definitely be going back to Kings Auto Repair whenever I have a problem or question, Seriously recommend that you go here.Another plus : I am a 19 year-old female that was obviously uneducated in the auto world and he did not once patronize me while explaining how I could fix the problem myself the next time !!!

My 2003 Mini Cooper decided that its alternator was going to go blooey while I was visiting my best friend in Kent. Since I live about 150 miles away there was no question of towing it to our home service station, so we hit up Google and found Kings. Best pick I ever made, and lemme tell you with a 13 year old car with 165K on the clock, Ive been in a few auto shops.Mr. King installed the new alternator and came in WAY under what I was expecting to pay; not only that he checked out a couple other things on the car and let me know about them. What really impresses me is that this is not a guy whos in it for the money; he really LIKES cars, likes working on them, is comfortable with imports, and it shows. He was up front about the cost involved, is friendly and professional, and even took the time to clue my husband in about a great source of parts for his ancient Volvo.Not only does he get five stars from me for the alternator fix, whenever I can Im going to take the car BACK up to Kent for anything more than the little stuff. I mean, look, I was a chick with my car stuck far away from home and pretty much would have had to pay whatever he asked, but hes not a gouger. Hes fair and realistic about pricing repairs which is something a lot of shops, big or small, arent these days.

As some of you may know, i do not have the best luck with cars. ive visited countless garages and watched my skepticism grow over the years. today i had the pleasure of meeting rich of kings auto in kent. he spent the better part of 45 minutes taking the time to educate me about my car and why firestones $1000 diagnoses are complete hogwash. not only did he teach me a thing or two, he also corrected a separate issue with my car that could have had serious safety implications, which firestone neglected. rich was kind, sincere, and didnt charge a single penny for his time. he even recommended i contact an outside dealer for the part i do need. before rich looked at my car, i witnessed another customers gratitude for saving him hundreds. i wanted to thank rich for his generosity, so i figured word of mouth might be a helpful way to pay it forward.
