The ladies that worked there were super nice and helpful. 1 day after your first cat together as a couple passed away we came and got a 2 month old little boy that we love so much. They do so much to get your pet ready for there forever home. Couldnt have asked for a better adoption place. Thanks.
The lady helping me knew how to pay for a pets license that was already in the computer. She had to call and get assistance to add my dog. There was only two people there. Quite a few people come in looking at the dogs to adopt. She told me that she appreciated my patience. Told her I have been in the same position. (not knowing every last bit of the computer) She told me they were short handed. That is a true but understated fact. Facility was nice and clean. Very pleasant lady.
I had a really great experience getting my pup here! Lots of info, nice people and they even threw in the collar and a Cheifs bandana for free! They sat down and talked me through everything I needed and gave me a packet of all the paper work. It was my first pet adoption and I would go back to KC Pet Project 100%. It was also such a reasonable price that included all the shots, vaccinations, he was microchipped and fixed. It was amazing! The woman helping me even took a picture of us as we were leaving. I really appreciated the whole experience.
I have never had a worse experience trying to adopt a pet. I searched several sites last night and found a dog I was interested in. I went first thing in the morning and visited Lovey but also met Mya that seemed like she could be a wonderful addition to my family. They had very little information on the animals so we went to lunch and talked them over. I went back and informed them I was ready to meet the dogs and the woman told me no. She said theres a policy that unless Im going to adopt the dog that day then I cant meet them because its too stressful. How on earth can I agree to adopt an animal Ive never met??? I left the facility very upset and crying. I called back to discuss the policy and the same girl answered. I told her I dont understand why I cant meet the dogs when Im absolutely capable of adopting today, but I simply can not say yes until I meet them because it is too stressful. Again, she refused me to meet the animals. I asked her if I lied and said Im adopting today can I meet every dog in the building and she said yes. I said fine, Im adopting and turning around.I waited quite a while for someone else to show me Lovey and Mya because I did not want to deal with the same girl. This new girl then told me no! I stated my exact same case that Im fully capable of adopting today and willing but that I need to meet them before I say yes. She said fine I can let you meet one. I told her Id meet lovey since hes the one I initially came in for. We get outside and hes really not interested in me and she was very uninterested in discussing him or how to acclimate him, giving short irritated answers. I told her I had been worried this would happen because he was standoffish in his cage. She said its probably for the best. Hes very selective with other dogs and probably wouldnt have gotten along with your cats. Are you serious???? This girl KNEW I had cats up front, KNEW I was interested in two dogs but still let me meet the one dog she KNEW was not compatible with my family even though I was only allowed to meet the one! She also said Im not allowed to bring my cats in and that Id have to adopt him and hope for the best. This is absolutely unacceptable! No wonder there are so many surrendered dogs when people are forced to go in blind and make a 10+ year commitment to a pet in a split second that may not even be a right fit. Im utterly heartbroken and disappointed.
Not friendly, cannot pet animals unless youre adopting. How do you know if you like each other if u cant meet.
Went there looking for my missing cat that I received a notification from my Shadow app statimg that there was a cat there that could possibly be a match. Staff was nice and seemed to be helpful altho not one was familiar with the app. The line between the 2 needs to be better. I still. Believe my cat is the one in the photo from Shadows notification but they said a family picked that cat up earlier saying it was theirs.
KC pet Project helped my wife and I add a new member to our family. We adopted a kitten, that we named Astra. She was scared and hissed at everyone that walked by her cage but we knew that she would be happy with us. Thankfully the employees were so helpful and walked us through the whole process. If we decide to adopt again in the future we plan to go through the KC pet Project again.
I called 30 mins prior to going and told them the puppy I wanted to see. They said I could come whenever and when I did, they already had her waiting! Paperwork work was easy, was only there for about an hour and a half. I left with a very great puppy! Very happy with my experience since it has been very hard to find one.
The young lady at KC pet project that I spoke with was very helpful and listen to my story about how I lost my American Pitbull terrier named Brownie on June 30th on North Brighton and I-35 because of the fireworks he had taken off out the door and then some heartless idiot ran him over and drug him by looks of the pictures. Luckily there is a volunteer that drove by and saw another chocolate American Pitbull terrier that stopped because she saw the other one standing over my Brownie. That being said the lady that help me over the phone was very pleasant and answered all my questions that I had. I just wish that they were still having a $30 sale going on. Im looking for a way to pay forward of how a volunteer was there with my dog until he passed. I was going to check and see about possibly becoming a microchip scanner I believe its called. Where you check animals that are lost or on the run and hopefully reunite them with their families. I am still trying to find another American Pitbull terrier because I would like to have met and adopt Luca. Luca was the dog that was with Browning the night he was killed. I was in the Marine corps and my dog Brownie was like a natural Service Animal that helped me with my anxiety and other issues I have trying to sleep and relax throughout the day or night. What K.C. Pet Project does for our community is amazing! Keep up the good work!
Very honest and straightforward about their dogs personalities and potential fits. We didnt find the right dog here, but appreciated their approach. Facility was clean and maintained well.
No kittens, just pitbull dogs and some very sweet older cats in need of a good home.
A place where you can adopt pets it is very clean inside the animals are very well taken care of. The people are kind and are truly looking for the perfect home for each of their pets!
Great place to help rescue dogs and cats. Hopefully people are more aware of this place than pet land.
Picked out the perfect kitten, loving playful, girls in the office so nice .Thank you 😁
Went in to see exactly what kind of animals they had for adoption. A few dogs were available one of them so cute and sweet. Deserves a great home. If you are looking to adopt check them out!
I have heard positive things from other folks, but for me, not so much. Telephone not answered in middle of business day. Left voicemail, no response. Stopped by Zona location, was advised dog I was considering was on hold until next morning. I asked that should that adoption fall through, could I get on a backup list? Was advised that We dont do it that way. Call late tomorrow and see if he is still here . Tried pursuing another dog currently in foster. Sent e-mail to generic foster address (only way to accomlish it). Got quick response that my e-mail had been forwarded to foster family and that they would contact me within 24 to 48 hours. Crickets.Good humane concept, but not well executed. Really need to work on communication.
I was very impressed by them... nice and easy adoption process will go back to adopt another pet ...
Seems like a good place and I plan to visit them in person as soon as I am in my new place to live cuz I hope to get a dog a fur baby cuz I do love my fur babies and they seem like theyd be a good place to get one from
We went by today and there was an alarming amount of pitbulls for adoption, most surrendered by an owner. So sad. The employees were all very friendly. Lots of babies need forever homes.
I have tried to call multiple time over the past couple of days and not a single answer at all
Loved this place. Nice and very helpful. Found me a wonderful puppy. Thank you
I came in there with my mom because she wanted a cat but I came. Out with one and I am happy she is 6-7years old and she acts like a dog and she is protective of me and here room and When I am up set she comes to me.
I love KC Pet Project. I have been a volunteer for many years and have had a wonderful and rewarding experience. The support staff is extremely helpful when you need assistance. I would recommend anyone to adopt from here.
Me and my wife just lost our dog socks of 17 year. And wanted a a new one so we called kc pet project and found max it was a awsome experience for the first time we ever been there
I have one of my cats from this shelter. What a great location. Clean and animals are well taken care of. Stay AWAY from breeders and give a precious stray a chance. Youll be glad you did.
This was my first time adopting from the zona rosa area. In the past, Ive adopted two cats from the kc pet project main office. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and I let them know I was waiting for the adoptive person to bring me the dog I wanted to adopt. When it was time to fill out the paperwork, she made it super easy and explained everything carefully. Once we got home, I noticed my dog, Piper, was breathing weird and called them for advice. They were really helpful and even called me back after speaking to the vet to make sure things were ok with Piper.
Its clean, friendly people. Just the dogs there are so loud. So be prepared for that.
Great team of people here. They helped us find the exact cat we were looking for and all staff members were very helpful
You can adopt a pet here. You buy things for your pet and get city tags for your pets also
Didnt visit. Website was helpful.
KC Pet Project is gift that many cities dont have. Thank you! And thank you Derrek Nnadi for supporting this great organization.
Always friendly and always honest about who is a good fit
Employees are compassionate and caring, wanting to match dog with right family. Great experience.
Friendly staff. please go adopt those babies!
This location is clean and everyone is very pleasant. We have been many times in the past and since my son was looking to adopt a dog for when he returned from deployment, I suggested he check out the website.. I only clicked on the link for dogs and puppies and saw there were lots of pit bull and boxer type mixes up for adoption here up for adoption, young and old, male and female.
Definitely would recommend going to the main KC Pet Project if you are looking to adopt.
They were very limited in the dogs they had and did not seem intrested in matching us with a pet.We were looking for a medium to large dog or would have liked two so they could have a friend but was asked anything about type or if we had fenced yard. Happens have 1/2 acre of fenced yard with a wine room made into dog room.Sorry for the dogs that missed out but will find what we are looking for and things will be fine.
They help a lot of loving pets find a great home!
I am all for rescues of dogs & cats. I donated 3 cages, from dogs that have passed away. The staff was friendly & courteous. The establishment was clean and well cared for.
Love this place! It was clean, the animals were well taken care of and the people we talked to were very knowledgeable about the pets we were looking at. They genuinely care!
Advertised you guys advertised kittens and puppies. But you had none
Friendly people, animals in good condition.
Very nice service and help
Great place and only one dog in the place so Id say thats a good thing .
It was really a nice building and very appealing to the eye......but not one person asked me if i needed help. in fact i went and found someone to ask about a certain dog i had seen on line and she just took a guess at the answer saying he had been adopted when in fact he was still there she just didnt want to take the time to walk me to the other end of the building. it was also 530 and i think they close at 6. i guess they just stop working past 5 so why stay open till 6??
EXCELLENT ADOPTION CENTER! Love this place, the animals and the staff!!! Have visited a number of times over the past few months looking for a new family member. We were always welcomed in with smiles and any information we needed regarding adoption or a specific animal. The location is great for anyone north of the river. Allyn was EXCEPTIONAL with our adoption. She demonstrates a strong love for the animals and wants to give adoptive parents all the tools they need for a successful adoption. I couldnt be happier with our new family member and the phenomenal customer service Allyn and the staff at KC Pet Project provide.
Very helpful, we got the dog we wanted.Mr Max.
Very clean, organized, the volunteers are friendly and helpful. Busy times are a little hectic but theyre accommodating as best they can. Well done, KCCAC. Looking forward to continuing my perusing in search of the perfect companion dog.
Went in to see a dog and the person would not allow the dog to come near my wife and I to see if the dog would bond to us
God bless this facility and those who work with such devotion, donating their time, their financial contributions and their hearts most importantly. Amazing how so few people in number can take on the responsibility that is ALL OF OURS TO HAVE DOMINION OVER. Thank you so very much.
DO NOT!!! Adopt a dog from them, my daughter adopted a dog March 5th, 2020. They told her he had a cough. Four days and 500.00 later, this dog has sever ear infections thats has went into his lungs, and stopped breathing last night, his head is also swollen from this, his paws are 2x the size they should be, because they are inflamed, and he has a skin disease. NONE of this was disclosed st adoption. We have contacted the Zona Rosa location where he came from, All Tracy(the manager) will say is there is nothing they can do. They adopted a very sick dog to a 4 year old.
Wonderful place!
Amazing staff & Amazing service for of community
Amazing folks that work here!!! Great facility too!
This shelter will not hesitate to lie about the bite history of its dogs, in order to pawn dangerous animals off on unsuspecting adopters. While I understand the need to find homes for animals, lying about a dogs ability to get along with people and other animals is absolutely despicable. Failing to disclose this sort of information should fall under criminal negligence if and when a serious injury/fatality becomes a product of this shelters deceptive practices.
Its a nice facility. I was quite annoyed that I was unable to obtain any important info about a dog I was interested in. I was repeatedly told I needed to come into the facility to find out about her. I took off work and drove the 45min down to meet her and found out the writeup online was grossly inaccurate and she would not be a good fit for my home. Pretty frustrating experience.
This no-kill shelter does a lot of good for a lot of animals. Their staff and volunteers sacrifice so much for animals with very few options and resources. As with most shelters in the metro area, a majority of the dogs on site are some type of Pit Bull mix. Some are quite aggressive but Ive witnessed the volunteers provide top notch training that will help prepare the animals to be pets. Between obedience training, housebreaking, and leash training, the staff does everything they can to set the animals up for success. Also, they also have a large number of cats on site. There are multiple isolated play rooms that allow you to get to know your potential pet.Lastly, the provide free adoption weekends throughout the year. Keep an eye out for those.Even if youre not planning on adopting, the KC Pet Project could always use donations! A little goes a long way!
Great space, caring staff and volunteers, well cared for adoptable pets waiting for their new families! Stop out and find your new best friend!
They are very nice and knowledge we got a rabbit
Dont shop. Adopt! This is the Northland location in Zona Rosa. Although a much smaller location and number of pets available, it is clean and the animals are given so much attention and love! We love KCPP and what they do for these lovable animals!
Not many pets at this location, but its nice and clean. The staff are super informative and kind as well.
Caring and dedicated staff. Clean surroundings. Animals appear to receive lots of attention. Please help this shelter by donating supplies, financial help, and/or adopting your new best friend!
Amazing organization! KC Pet Project is one if the top largest open admission no kill shelters in the country!! Imagine all the hard work and dedication that takes. The staff works incredibly hard every day to ensure the right adopters is matched with the right pet. Ive volunteered for years and started fostering over a year ago. They save so many lives each day! Be patient with the staff, sometimes there is a wait because they are under staffed or they just had to witness an injured animal come in from animal control. KC Pet Project does so much for our community! Thank you for every life you save!!
I dont know have not been there. I have seen and heard they are a great place
Everyone was great
Adopted this sweet baby girl from this location few days ago.. much cleaner and more intimate experience than the raytown location. I got a great dog and the people were very engaging and helpful. Had a great experience and recommend people checking them out.
A very clean, well run no-kill shelter. They walk their dogs daily and take great care of them. My son purchased a two-year old Female Pit Bull that is just a sweetheart. This place is definitely worth a visit.
Were awesome place. What these kind people do for animals is great.
Zona Rosa is top star service. Always willing to let me know how shes doing. They tolerate my broken heart of having to surrender my pet because I couldnt bring her with me to the apartment I moved to.I miss my companion. I had my girl for six years. I miss her. I pray she will find a good home. Shes a good girl. Shes never bit anyone. Good watch dog. If Tianna would bark. Id have to check which house she was policing. My house or the neighbors on either side.
This place is amazing! They only have dogs and cats at this location, which the staff keep well taken care of. They are so well taken care of that the staff knows their personality, limitations, and also has all of their shots, neutered, and chipped. Will definitely be back :)
A friend and I went to drop off donations, the staff was very friendly and the facility was well kept in comparison to other shelters. I highly recommend adopting from KC Pet Project in Zona Rosa or dropping off donations.🐾
I love visiting here. Is it a little loud, yes. But all of the animals in there are just following their instincts. I wish I could bring many of them home. If you are looking for a pet, get one here. Designer dogs, expensive purebreds, and puppies are great but lets give the animals that we have love.
Only one dog. Not a lot of information on the dog that was available . But was clean and organized.
I love this organization!! I adopted my dog at this location and the staff was so amazing and they took such great care of the animals!
I realize that this is a no kill shelter and they are doing a great thing....but they know very little about these animals. They are strays, abandoned animals, and those who owners have died. Please keep this in mind when adopting from them. My sister had two bad experiences when adopting animals they claimed were well. They had to be returned and treated. They also spay and neuter cats very young which can harm them over time. I would treat this place like an upscale shelter if you decide to adopt. Take these animals into your home at your own risk.
Very clean and well organized, super inviting environment, everyone is willing to help and super knowledgeable about the animals they house there. I would highly recommend purchasing your next animal there
Zero star this place is a joke. Whoever the chick with medium cut brown hair with bangs thinks she knows everything and each dog we looked at she shot us down and pretty much was like no. Dont be an adoption center and then decline paying customers. You dont know our home so dont act like you do.
We volunteer there its phenomenal and the staff is superb. These beautiful pets are looking for their forever home!
I love this place and the fully involved, loving staff! They really care about the animals and making sure the adoption is right for the animal, as well as its future family! AND the cost of our dog was less than his vaccinations alone! Not to mention, he was neutered and microchipped basically for free.We have adopted two dogs from here, and couldnt be happier!! Thank you!!
What a wonderful facility. Super clean and the staff were attentive and obviously passionate about the animals. It was sad though to see so many pit bull mix dogs without forever homes. It was very hard to visit and not leave with a new friend.
I personally felt like the pets were limited. It seemed like they only had a few cats and pit bulls. I love pit bulls I just can’t have them at my apartment complex or else I would have adopted Frankie! She was so sweet.
This place changed my life. I adopted my furbaby Natasha from there.
Very rude volunteers!!
Absolutely love the project and mission. Made my daughters day being able to adopt a kitten for her birthday
Yesterday I think I saw a dog being walked in the afternoon. Please remember and instruct any walkers that only grass is safe for them to walk on during the heat!I guess the vote was already made regarding pitbulls so I will change my comment.
Not very good- no place to park and I had 4 big, heavy boxes. Then after I carried them all in finally from around the corner I had to wait 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me😒
Always love kc pet project
I am trying to do a trap neuter release in my rural community. I was feeding them to get a head count and to supplement their hunting. One cat ended up being the sweetest cat in the world! Evidently at some point it had been a house cat. I contacted pet project so it could get adopted. The intake person is the rudest, coldest sounding, horrible person! Im trying to do something good for the animals in my neighborhood and she treated me like I was dirt wanting to bring an animal in!
Wonderful organization! I enjoy the opportunity to volunteer here. Please consider adopting a furry friend from a KC Pet Project location near you.
