Trustworthy and patient! Locked myself out of my locker and they are always willing to help out. Repetitively with the same amount of courtesy, nice that you cater to all ages.
It’s been around a month since the water fountain is broken, and nobody cares fixing it.The handgrip on the chest press machine shown on the picture has been missing for months and you can’t even use it properly.The front desk employees (mostly evening/night time) never recognize/greet you when you enter in or leave the gym. The other night I said ‘Have a good night’ to the front desk on my way out, she heard and was completely dismissive. They give you an unwelcoming energy.The only reason why I keep coming at this location is because it is closer to where I live.The management just seem to not really care.In comparison with the other locations this one deserves 2 stars.
Its a great gym, lots of work out equipmentThey are not very good at enforcing the mask mandate. Disappointing
Though this gym isn’t the closest to me, I prefer this gym over nearby gyms due to the staff and the environment provided. No matter the time of day, I feel comfortable working out, and this is also true no matter who is working out next to me. The upstairs cardio area is clean and a machine is always available, and the downstairs (strength training) area has plenty of machines and weights to choose from.This location is worth the drive and coming here makes workout out enjoyable!
This is a great gym. It has all of the equipment a person could desire. There seems to always be multiple group classes going and the staff are friendly and happy to help. David at the front desk was very helpful today and Darcy, the club manager is quick to answer questions or help in any way.
Friendly and honest, hard working staff. Came in and asked lots of qurstions and stff answered all my questions in drtail. The enviorment was clean and had equiment and weights i have not seen in my previous gym. Love love love this place. I will diffently recommend to other people.

Great introduction by Julius to the club, new to the area and it was friendly and straight forward, club has everything I need and beats planet fitness with just having more variety and not to mention the ability to join classes. Great gym just wish I lived a little closer.

I have only had great experiences at the Ward Parkway Genesis! It is always clean, the staff if super friendly, and the trainers make the gym transition seamless. Also, the shakes are to die for!
Overall nice location. Few small things like relabeling cable machines that have faded so you know how much weight you’re using would make the experience a lot better. Men’s locker room is usually pretty gross but not sure if that’s due to lack cleaning or members not being respectful at that location.
Genesis at Ward Parkway is my favorite location. It’s a friendly atmosphere that allows you to enjoy your workout and the staff is very friendly. Lisa is on the staff is always helpful and says hello. I have never had an issue in my three years working out here.
I love this gym. They provide towels for wiping down equipment and lots of spray cleaners are all over. The locker rooms are nice, the staff is friendly. Equipment is repaired quickly. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the parking lot spaces are tiny and I have several new door dings. In any case, I drive 20 minutes to this gym instead of going to one closer to me, totally worth it.

I’ve been working out at this location for 5+ years! I like the updates that were done! Great gym, not too big not too small!! I’ve formed some great relationships there!
The gym is always overcrowded. They charged me twice for my initial payment. I called four times and left a number but my call was never returned. I ended up having to call my credit card company and my bank to stop any future transactions. They offered 4 free training sessions as a perk for signing up and never delivered. When I would go in, they did not know what I was talking about. And I believe them. The sales guy lied to me. Good luck to anyone trying to cancel their membership!
Quincy does a great job serving me and making sure I’m satisfied with the gym services. She is definitely 1 of a kind when it comes to making sure the clubs operations are on point. Darcy about killed me in the all American training but 🤷🏾♂️ No pain no Gain great class!!!!
I love the Group Power class. Its a great way to get strong and push yourself. The instructors are all very encouraging and provide a hard workout.

This pertains to my shared experience at ward parkway and Lawrence north. The gym is in ok condition but could be much nicer. Overall my real issues arose around billing for membership. Not only did genesis continue to bill me for nearly 3 months during the initial part of the COVID shut down (I partially understand, tough times for businesses) but they did so with no communication or way to contact them for details. They also randomly charged us a one time fee of nearly $40 per membership for “improvements” without any sort of notification. Not sure if we gave consent in the contract but still feels shady. Lastly, when it came time to cancel our membership the GM gave my partner very non comital answers that he would end the memberships and wave the cancelation fees. Her suspicion was that he was being dodgey to the subject and sure enough we were billed the following month. Not only that but then this guy is dodging our calls. I’m not even a stickler about money but this is crazy. This people are slimey and I would strongly discourage anyone from joining genesis or this gym in particular.

I try to take my little one to the pool and one male denied us go to the pool because my little one needs to be at least 11 years old. I went to the other clubs and never had that problem.Yes I keep going to the other clubs and doesnt have that problem, Im looking for warmer water for winter season so my little one can enjoy it more

I have not been to the health club since Covid 19 started in March. I wanted tp continue to support them so I continued to pay. Did not ever receive a communication from them. I knew they were offering a rebate but wanted to be supportive. By August 26 I knew I would never go back because the place is full of germs and members that can not breathe on the machines and one machine away from them is nothing. So I called to cancel or put my account on hold for $10 a month. Today they took the full payment out plus the annual fee. I would have been fine with the annual fee if the monthly amount had been correct. I called them and they said I didnt give them 30 days notice - the person I talked to did not tell me I needed to do that. They refused to give any credit or the credit that they promised during Covid.Also, I supposedly was talking to the billing manager for the company - this company does not understand client relations. I would never go there again. When I cancelled at the Y previously I only had to give a weeks notice.

The staff is welcoming and they really do everything I can to make you feel comfortable. I was actually going into cancel after the pandemic since I Hatten been leaving the house and one of the amazing staff members set me up with the few classes and other things that I hadn’t even utilized before the pandemic and genuinely changed my mind about cancelling. Another staff member overheard how nervous I was and even offered to take one of the water aerobics classes with me to help me feel comfortable. Hands-down best gym service I’ve ever gotten. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Beware. This gym pursues abusive billing practices. I cancelled my membership in Aug. 2020 due to the pandemic. They continued to bill me until I blocked them through my bank. 7 months later, they send me a notice that my account is past due. They have continued to keep my account open and are attempting to get me to pay for a gym I havent used in over a year. This is the kind of policy that gives gyms a bad name. Find a local gym with reputable billing practices.
I love love my cycle instructor, Kate C. She plays fun music, motivates with a little sass, and mixes up the format, which keeps things fresh! I appreciate how she puts a lot of thought and preparation into her classes. It’s apparent that she is passionate about teaching cycle!
Its a super nice gym has everything you would need. My only complaint is the mask policy when youre sitting in the hot tub. I think that is honestly kind of dangerous.

I wanted to join this club for months, and pandemic seems like is our new life! After reading all the reviews, I’m concerned! The positives are about friendly staff, pull, 24/7? Negative about not being cleaned, communications. Personally at this time I don’t want go to a pool who knows who was in it before me? Staff friendliness will not help with sanitizing and cleaning? I’m not sure now for joining, this particular one is only 5 minutes from my house!
Client relations are a failure here at Genesis. I signed up for 6 months of personal training, costing me $250 a month (1 hr. a week) and to me thats a lot of money! I didnt remotely get my moneys worth. I was thrown between 4 different personal trainers during that time span, the training was inconsistent, and there was no plan in place for me. Additionally there were no progress milestones or check ins. My trainer would cancel last minute multiple times or not show up which became incredibly frustrating for the mass amount of money I was paying for this. At one point I had two trainers at a time and they didnt work together or discuss what they did with me each week so I ended up with repeat exercises. There was no structure and I would rate the professionalism a 2/10. Once I asked for my money back for the remaining sessions (since after covid and trying previously to get my money back I decided I never wanted to do this again), I was rejected. I am leaving the gym and just want my $325 of unused sessions back. They stated they do not offer refunds even though the disaster of my personal training experience was 100% at the fault of the gym and trainers. Even after speaking with the regional manager, he only offered me an upgraded gym experience even though I already put in my 30 days and told him that I am leaving the gym. I am losing out on over $300 of unused sessions (my money is just sitting there in my account and I cant get it back) that the gym will not refund at the fault of their own. Regardless of the situation they state that its a no refund policy at Genesis. I fully understand no refunds if it is the fault of the participant but with all of the cancelations and headache I dealt with, the company should make a better effort to show professionalism and focus on customer satisfaction. If you are looking for a solid personal training experience, save your money and do not sign up for it here. The gym itself is fine but the client relations and professionalism do not go hand in hand with the cost. The one thing they do have going for them is the cycling classes. Those are wonderful.
I love that everyone is so busy doing their own thing that they never notice other people unless you need their attention. Nobody passes judgement and its an incredibly safe environment.Due to recent events, my anxiety has been through the roof. I take the swim classes and never ONCE felt shamed for not having been there. The instructors are ALWAYS happy to see me and most of my classmates remember me

The Genesis Ward Parkway location is the best in the Kansas City area! I have been going to this gym location for almost 10 years; I became a member when it was still 24 Hour Fitness. During the period of time that it was 24 Hour, I filed numerous complaints about machines being consistently down for months at a time, mold in the showers and pool area, and all around dirty and disgusting premises.Since Genesis took over, they completely remodeled. They provide sweat towels, cleaning towels and spray, shower towels along with soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and hairspray. The machines and equipment are all kept in good, working condition. The premises are clean and it’s typical to even observe cleaners! The class options are awesome and instructors are phenomenal. The staff is very kind and helpful (especially Val and Darcy!). Genesis truly cares about its patrons’ health and fitness.
I have been attending this location regularly since I moved to the area in 2013. The staff is always friendly to me, the instructors are reliable and I love the classes. The club has gone through renovations and there are some very nice improvements. Like at any gym, equipment breaks down and it gets fixed, there’s some equipment that will need to be replaced but, if it’s being used frequently that is to be expected. For me it’s a great value and convenient location.

I love Genesis because they have awesome classes; a pool, hot tub and steam room open 24/7. However, the current situation has closed the pool and cut the classes to about 1/3 of what they were. Reservations for classes are recommended for the time being due to limitations.

The Ward Parkway Genesis has been doing a phenomenal job of cleaning the machines and making sure the facility is clean during this COVID19 epidemic. All the workers have masks most of the gym patrons are also wearing masks. There are sanitizer stations for your hands all around the club along with spray bottles literally every other machine to make sure everyone can clean and wipe down machines. Towels are available at the front that they give you upon walking in. I also noticed that even when customers do not wipe down machines there is an employee who quickly will follow up in that area and wipe down machines. The attentiveness to making sure everyone is safe is what I love. The staff is very friendly and nice along with the wide variety of machines that are available this is my favorite location.
