NEVER WILL RENT THRIFTY AGAIN! BEWARE>>>>>>>>>>>So we rented a SUV for my friend who has MS. Her mother died after she cared for in her home for three years despite her own MS condition. I take her to Utah for the trip she dreamed of and Thrifty threw a $300 service fee on our rental price when we returned our vehicle. They saw we had a service dog but said nothing when we picked up the vehicle. Then when we drop if off they said didnt you read the terms and conditions? When the line is backed up for hours just to get your car....who take the time to read that horrendously long list of terms and conditions? Its like a bait & switch....never Thrifty again for us. And if they had given us a heads upI would have swept it prior to returning. But upon rental return I had not options. Bad Bad business!

Horrible rental car place, I ordered my rental car early last week and the following week they have no cars available. So when I got to the airport I was basically stranded. Don’t go through this company very unprofessional, they will have you stranded at the airport.

I don’t usually write comments like the one your seeing now but I had to. My reservation was from the 20th of September to the 24th from MCI. The car I booked was a “luxury” car which is Cadillac XTS, I called the rental company today the 17th to make sure and see if the car I paid for is gonna be available at the time of pick-up. When I called Thrifty, I asked about the car and the employee said that it wouldn’t be available at the time of pick-up so I asked about the alternative or the similar cars that would be in the same category. Unfortunately, the employee said that the alternative would be either a KIA, Hyundai, and or a Dodge Chrysler. Although Google and car dealers have those types of cars as standards not luxurious, the rental company offers them in the category of luxurious cars. I think everyone knows that luxurious cars are Cadillac, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc.. I just wanted to write this comment to let people know that you should stay away from this car rental company. I’ve traveled a lot and rented a lot of hotels, cars, and such, I know what luxurious means. I know a lot of you guys have traveled and will travel, so, if you plan on renting a car from Thirty, I suggest you change your plan because they will let you down.

If I could put negative they would qualify for that and it’s not for the rental or the customer service it would be for the $9.99 admin fee that they charge for EVERY toll you go through. In Florida they have tolls on exit ramps we didn’t know. We had 7 tolls that were mostly .08 cents. We were in a new state and didn’t know the highway system. Total tolls were a little over $3.00 and the bill they sent us from thrifty was $70! Screwballs to say the least!!!! They have it set up so they pay the toll from their account and they bill you their insane amount. No way around it! Will never use them again!!

I would give zero stars if possible. But on 5-14-20 we had a car rental reservation with Thrifty. Our plane got in late due to weather 10:00PM supposed to land at 9:30pm. When we got to the Thrifty car rental location at MCI the Employees had closed up early at 8pm. So we had zero chance on getting our rental car that night. So we picked up a Alamo rental instead. But since we had prepaid Thrifty for our car they now refused to refund us our money. Thrifty made it so we had zero chance to get our car and they refused to refund our money. Thrifty is just a company of scumbags.

Horrible company. BE AWARE When renting from them. I rented a car back in December and have been charged twice for the rental. I had to dispute it through my bank because when I called them the customer service was horrible and they claimed they only charged me once. Regardless of what my bank statement says. Then today 2/5/2020 I have another charge on my account for 40.00 almost two months later. Again I had to dispute it and am on hold with customer service to see what the charge is for. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS PLACE THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!

My rental experience with Thrifty was horrible! The lady at the counter didnt clearly explain the added insurance plans and signed me up for everything they offered, which more than doubled my initial rental fee (prior to adding on insurance). After calling and being transferred to several different departments, with people who dont clearly speak English, I was finally connected to someone that I could understand and was able to get part of my money refunded. Hopefully... Im still waiting... But when I think I finally have everything resolved, I open a bill I get in the mail about using the toll transponder in the car, which I was not informed about whether to use or not use and the price if I choose to use it. The bill is for $67, which again if the lady had explained things to me, I would have paid the tolls costing me only $8. But the lady didnt say anything to me when picking up the car or dropping it off about the difference between paying the tolls or using the transponder. The lack of communication with this company is ridiculous! I will never, ever rent a car again and if for some reason I need to I will NEVER use this company again!! This company should be ashamed at how they treat their customers and take advantage of people.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THRIFTY!!!! Thrifty, along with Priceline, dont value customer service! The thrifty rental car company wasnt available at the KCI airport, and no signs notified customers that we were to go to Hertz for rental vehicles if originally booked with thrifty. I got online to see in reviews that Hertz was taking over Thrifty customers. Once Priceline became aware of the considerable inconvenience, customer service agents, along with the management team, couldve been more empathetic, for customer satisfaction. Priceline couldve announced to its customers the changes that took place, or even sent an email to clarify where I needed to go, to satisfy the rental agreement! Thrifty and Priceline companies became of how filthy the car was; the management team could care less. I also said during a national pandemic, and me having small children, the lack of cleanliness shouldnt be my responsibility, with me paying more than $400 for a rental car. When leaving with the vehicle, Hertz issued me a paper, and I got in the car and drove away without doing a walk through with a sales representative, to ensure the gas tank was full, etc. When returning the vehicle after a short vacation, there was no sales representative there to inspect the vehicle to ensure the car brought back the same way it was issued to me the customer. Customer satisfaction was not an area of concern for either Priceline or Thrifty, and my family and I experienced horrible customer service! I will never rent from Thrifty or Priceline again!!! Please save your money, or go to where the company values your patronage.

I was very disappointed with the final bill. It almost doubled from the initial price. I did the prepay for gas and the gas/service fee was $78! I didn’t even use half a tank of gas the entire week I had the car. The estimated amount in extra fees needs to be made upfront so people realize what exactly they will be paying. The “deal” wasn’t that great of a deal at the end of the week. I was very disappointed.

I rented a vehicle and prepaid through Expedia. When I got to the location it was snowing outside. Because of the snow, the lady behind the counter offered to put me in a 4x4 or AWD vehicle. I stated if it doesnt cost me any more, that would be appreciated. She stated Ill take care of it this time around. I took the upgraded car, and was then charged for the upgrade when I dropped the car off. When I called Thrifty about the issue, they said there was nothing they could do because of what the paperwork said. Extremely dishonest business practice. I will not be using this service again. Only reason Im giving it two stars instead of one is because the car was clean when I picked it up.

We rented from here Friday 5/31. I can’t believe how nice everyone was. From the woman at the front desk, until the man clearing us out the gate, every single person was incredibly kind and pleasant. We will be returning 6/22 and will plan to rent from Thrifty again.

Long line to both get the car and return it. A bit irritated that I had to wait in line to return it and confirm to keep the one charge only made on the card I put it on....If the lot staff have to leave then there should be a better method to get those returning...express return? like other companies tell you about when you get there...I saw this same line issue a year ago when I rented from another company.But the staff is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and does take care of people as quick as they can.Company just needs to streamline the customer queues and return after business hours at this location.

They charged me a significantly higher price than I was quoted when I made the reservation. The size I reserved was not available when I got there, shi they offered me an upgrade.... which turned out to be a drastic downgrade (reserved a midsize SUV, they tried to upgrade me to fred flintstone super compact). They did change that out to a full size SUV when I refused the subcompact car, but I was charged more for my rental.....

Very poor customer service. I have never been so irritated. We reserved a mini Van in May for July and they did not have one. They tried to give us a Dodge Durango or a Ford expedition neither providing the same amount of space. Then they didnt even take us to the car they sent us to find it ourselves in a large lot of 5 different car companies. The man helping us even made a call saying I am stuck with this customer, I need a vehicle. Called the customer service line only too be told they cannot help or get me a supervisor because they were busy. They did not offer to call me back or help with the problem. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will never rent with Thrifty again!

This was, without a doubt, the most enjoyable car rental experience we have ever had. The car was at a good price, it was nearly brand new and immaculate. The service was outstanding and we never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for anything. Pick up and drop off were a cinch and I certainly look forward to renting from Thrifty again soon!

Run. Don’t consider this rental company. I completed a review ( couldn’t do a negative number for the rating)and finally got a response. So I tried to call the number they sent me, no answer, rings for ever. And got this as I tried to email them about some restitution. Got Thrifty Car rental when I booked through Hotwire. Wanted a cheap Rental and they were the cheapest available. Initially I was scared looking at the low rating and the negative reviews but it turned out to be fine. Although their car fleet was old, my rental experience was good and I would rent with them again if I want to save money.

I booked online with Thrifty for a business trip to Kansas City. I arrived to the counter fifty minutes earlier than I had estimated, my flight arrived a little early. I was told I could pay twenty dollars more to get my car out early, or I could wait. I walked over to Avis and they gave me the same price Thrifty quoted, and I was given immediate service and didnt have to wait at all. The Avis representative was wonderful and helpful, the Thrifty representative was rude and unhelpful. Ill never book with Thrifty again, and I rent cars twice a month.

What a joke. First off they charge for an additional driver even if it is a spouse. I’ve rented many cars and this has never been the case. The customer service reps literally can’t do anything except say “go to a counter.” When you search for counter locations you get Hertz locations and no one mentions they are a sister company. Lastly, we were charged $55 for tolls that were less than $5. What a worthless company.

Always a bad time here. Just got charged $150 for two gallons of gas because I didnt have time to fill my tank. I understand its $10 per gallon but if youre going to actually charge $75 can you please advertise it that way? Long wait times every time. Only redeeming thing is a dude named Marley who absolutely made my day when I was picking up my car. Dont rent through here but if you do definitely try to find marley.

Prepaid car they refused to explain charges. Phone takes forever to get response or pick up by agent. All agents are in Manila or offshore and could not understand their english. A terrible company to rent a car from. I highly recommend not to rent from this company.Pathetic company and no refund for your own money after their screw up.

I hate this company. The man behind the counter did not explain a single thing to me and almost took all of the money out of our account because he refused to property explain what was going on. Not to mention the 200 dollar deposit they didnt tell us would come out, nor have they returned since giving the car back. Dont use this company. The people behind the desk were not helpful at all and were very condescending. And dont even get me started on the phone number. It sends you directly overseas and then sends you everywhere except for the actual company.Find a different company, because this one will just screw you over.

The woman who checked me in did not review anything with me.. not gas disclosures (pre-paid fillup, or charge to fill @ $9.99 per gallon), not insurance options, not upgrade options, not the $350 credit card authorization that they placed on my card, or where the car she assigned to me was located on the lot. Also when I dropped the car there was not an attendant @6:25pm available, only a drop box, and the rental agency charged my another full rate day on my rental, since they didnt check my car in till this morning. When I noticed these charges, I called their service line and and after speaking to 2 different departments, they are refunding the extra day, and fingers crossed the authorizations will also be released in 5 business days. I rent a car almost every week, and this is the first time Ive rented from Thrifty in a few years (I used to use them quite a bit). I will not be renting from them anytime in the future, and I hope that they make some changes to deliver a higher quality customer experience than the one I received this weekend.

Check in was easy, and staff was very friendly and helpful. Location from nice, new building to car was great. The car was what I had reserved and clean. I am a Jersey girl, so I dont pump gas, got the prepaid gas, but used so little gas they dropped the charge when I returned the car. I will use Thrifty again.

I paid for a portion of the charges online and got what I thought was an exact quote. As for how I ended up paying $453 for a 4 day rental that was supposed to cost $240 is beyond me, and apparently beyond anyone who works there because I couldnt get a straight answer from anyone. I called customer service 4 times and got 4 different answers, I could tell the people on the phone didnt even bother to look up my payment history because I kept getting generic answers which differed from person to person. Finally returned the car and the guy at the counter straight up said he didnt know where the charges came from! To say that I had a terrible experience with them would be an understatement.

I just want to share how awesome my experience was!First of all I flew into MCI at 11 and had a rental with budget. Long story short budget ruined my reservation so I walked into Thrifty. Immediately a man named Marley jumped in and saved the day, he assured me that he would get me into a vehicle and get me where I needed to go. Marley walked out into the 5 degree snowy weather to show me the vehicle choices and was very honest and professional. I chose a vehicle from his options; went into the office spent maybe 3 minutes on paperwork, then he handed me the keys and off we went. I would highly recommend thrifty/dollar rental when in the Kansas area!

I booked an economy car but when I went to pick up the car, they said they didnt have one available so they will upgrade it for free. When I returned the car, I found they were charged me $16 extra a day for the upgrade and for 12 days and refused to refund my money. The manager was extremely rude. Wish I had read the reviews before booking. Absolutely DO NOT USE. They are extremely unethical.

Not happy with Thrifty for a few reasons. They charge for a spouse. Not happy with customer service on the phone and not friendly at the counter. I called the 1800 number a few times before our rental to ask questions and it always took 10+ minutes to talk with someone. Each time they said I would have to talk to the local rental place but they don’t have a number. They told me a price when I got the car and dropped it off and it was different than total bill. I got this deal on Hotwire and won’t be using them again either.

I had a Terrible experience renting a car here. The girl receptionist was so rude. I put in a reservation for a Toyota Camry but instead she assigned me a Nissan Altima. And when I told her I wanted a Camry, she seemed mad and very rude about it. And basically said that’s all they have so if I don’t want it then she can’t do anything about it. Instead of politely telling me she’s sorry and that’s all they have.

I got a small car through a 3rd party ($17 per day for 2 days), when i was going to be late i called to inform them and the lady said very politely yes maam, you will be charged for the additional day what she did NOT inform me of was that it would be double the price for the one day AND they added the insurance cost $31.99 and $17.11 fee?? so for the additional day i paid the price of $43.00 car+$31.99 ins +$17.11(some fee) so they charged me $92 for .. THEY WERE NOT FINISHED, THEY HAD MORE! so because it was after 12 noon (i picked up the car after noon ) they charged me for a 2nd day ... another $92 !! and the manager His named escapes me was so rude! you would have though i kicked his dog!.. i eventually called corporate and they helped a little. His name was Cody he was awesome! and i appreciate his professionalism.But i or my company will never use this car rental place again.

We got an black Maxima Nissan. It worked well, it was economic and we did a long drive, from kansas city to Branson (almost Arkansas). The car was nice, was comfortable. The service at the counter were good, maybe not excellent but nice. they gave us option to solve problems and all the information needed for our trip. I just would love a little bit more happy personel.

We were actually disappointed initially with this Thrifty, but they managed to handle our problem well and the resolution is why I still give them 4/5 stars.My husband and I had reserved a full size car over a month in advance and when we arrived in KC, Thrifty told us they didnt actually have a full size car available. This was not great for us as we were traveling with lots of luggage and baby items (stroller, etc). We took the smaller, compact car they offered (along with a reduced daily rate) initially but after a couple days found it wasnt going to work for our purposes.So we brought the too-small rental back to Thrifty, and they not only took it back without charging extra for early return, but they also gave us $50 toward a future rental. We were happy with the service people we interacted with, and their resolution to the problem, hence my 4 star rating. Well use them again.

Overcharged my credit card. Car was due back a few minutes before 6am. I returned it 3 hours early when they were closed so I could catch my flight home, using the drop box like always. They opened at 6am but didnt process the car until after 9am and charged me an extra 4 hours. Do not trust them with your credit cards. I had to dispute it with my credit card company. If this happens to you just dispute the whole charge or better yet use a different car place. Dollar does this too but they might be the same company. Here is the letter I had to send to my credit card company. I dont have time for this stuff but I had to do it on principle. Bottom line is dont rent cars here unless you have time for all this to try and get back the money they steal from you once they have your card.To whom it may concern,I rented a vehicle from Thrifty Car Rental in at MCI Airport in Kansas City, MO.on November 2, 2017 5:43am and returned the vehicle on November 5th, 2017 at 2:53am using the drop box provided.I have pictures and videos on my cell phone of the keys dropping into the drop box that are time and date stamped. Thrifty Car Rental does not open until 6am so they provide a drop box for customers.Despite the fact that they open at 6am, they did not process my vehicle as returned until 9:15am on November 5th 2017 and they charged me for the extra 4 hours. By 9:15am on 11-5-17 I was already back home in Nevada.When I rent my vehicles I am given a final cost up front, barring incidentals. In this case the only incidental I was charged for was the extra 4 hours of late fees during which Thrifty Rental Car was in possession of the vehicle. In actuality, the vehicle was returned 3 hours early not 4 hours late.The total I was to be charged was $97.16 including all fees. The amount I was charged was 122.17 with the extra $25.01 coming solely from the 4 extra hours.I have requested a refund of the amount overcharged to me of $25.01. If pictures and videos are required, I can submit those as well as they are from my cell phone and time/date stamped .

Booked on Expedia. Got confirmation for one price, was told we owe more at time of check in. Also, car smelled of gas fumes when car was on but not moving like at a stop light. Car was poorly cleaned between us and prior use. We were told that since we were using a debit card to pay Thrifty would have to do a credit check that will hurt my credit. Would have been nice to know prior to booking. If we booked through a third party, especially one as large as Expedia, they should have informed us about that. The worst part about our experience was the front desk attendant who helped us at check out and end. He was a real peach. First and last time I will use Thrifty!

Was offered an upgrade and then charged for original car plus the upgraded car. Was quoted $32 for weekend plus taxes. Was charges $126. This included a lot of extra charges such as customer facility charge, area recovery fee and Transport facility charge which was the bus ride from the terminal. When I called Thrifty, they were rude and refused to adjust the extra charges. Do not use Thrifty. They will try to scam you.

Terrible customer and ethical service. Made a one-way reservation online from Kansas City Airport for 3 days with a return to San Antonio Airport. I was given the final cost including taxes and fees of $224.80. I paid that in full to make the reservation knowing that if there were any additional add-ons I requested they would be added at time of pick-up. We specifically told the agent we did not want any insurance as our insurance and credit card covers it. He asked for our credit card and charged us $562.80. We thought this was just a security deposit until we turned the car in. However, looking at the receipt after we left, we saw we were charged $88.47 for damage waiver, $26.97 for premium road service, $357.72 for Inter-city Fee, $52.57 for Concession/Recovery Fee, and $37.07 for tax subtotaling $562.80. This is in addition to the previously paid $224.80 which we were led to believe was the total cost +fees and taxes. This is a total of $787.60. Ive made seven (7) calls to Thrifty Car Rental customer service and they cant explain why the charges werent included before the reservation was made. But Im told there is nothing they can do. As far as the insurance, that cannot be reversed over the phone it has to be done at the same counter. However, they do not have the telephone number to the Kansas City Airport counter. This is the worst car rental nightmare I have ever had and I am a travel agent! Thrifty Car Rental will not get my business nor my clients business anymore. I will reach out to my friends and followers and share my experience to through my vlogs, blogs, posts, and podcasts so all consumers connected to me are aware of what they are getting into if they choose to do business with Thrifty Car Rental.

DO NOT USE!!! I always rented from Thrifty before they merged with Dollar and they were excellent. Sad to say they are terrible now and I will never use them again. I couldnt reserve my car online because the system doesnt work, so I did it through Priceline. I should have known when I got to the counter there would be an issue because all 4 people in front of me had an issue (car was locked, car had no keys....a man had no cruise control so he was charged for an upgraded car!!). Both of the male CSR reps had absolutely TERRIBLEattitudes and need nee training or to be fired. One of them told a customer he was tired of people blaming stuff on him, they were very testy and unapologetic. It was about 10:30 pm and I was told my reservation was cancelled, even though I showed him the email with date etc. There was no offer to get me into a car ot call the 800 #, just basically too bad. I asked for a manager...none on duty. I proceeded to call and have the ppl at the 800# walk him through pulling up my reservation info. Worst car rental experience ever and I rent monthly. Never again!

I was not informed of them holding 200.00 after I paid for rental. I have been using them for years. My rental was 65.00 total and I was charged 15% +200 totaling 300. I used a major cc.

Absolutely horrible experience with Thrifty at MCI from beginning to end. They have officially over charged my account over $500 because they claim that my car was overdue by more than a week. Funny thing, I dropped the keys for said car in their drop box on time and made the flight which was stated in my reservation. Four phone calls to various aspects to their customer service later and I am officially on a 5-7 business day wait until they resolve this dispute internally. The car magically appeared July 25th when I called them regarding a strange email that I received stating the car was overdue. In that call, Id suggested that they go to the parking lot and look for the car. You can make your own assumptions but I will not be renting from Thrifty again. After a call yesterday, when they stated they would be emailing me the results of their findings, I called them today to verify why I had not yet received anything and they now are officially investigating the situation. I have done NOTHING wrong yet weirdly feel like a criminal.

Absolutely atrocious. Will NEVER rent from Thrifty again. Was overcharged by more than $100 when renting a car in Burlington, Vermont, called three separate times and spoke to a representative who assured me my credit card would be credited the amount overcharged, and not surprisingly- it never was.

Horrible experience! The line was very busy as a several flights had landed at midday. Stood in line for a while and then was called to the counter. When i was getting to the agent they took a call on the phone and then excused themselves for a minute. Agent left and went outside.....i stood at the counter for 14 minutes while the other 2 agents cared for other clients (including 3 other clients who were in line behind me). I finally interrupted one of the agents to ask why i was left at the counter while others were being cared for. 1st agent finally returned and when i confronted them with the issue pretended to not know that anything unusual would happen. they could not locate the car i had on reservation and ended up in line for over 45 minutes before finally being processed. Most likely my last rental with Thrifty/Dollar.

DO NOT USE THRIFTY! I booked our reservation for a mini van 2 months in advance of our vacation. We drove 45 minutes to pick up the car only to be told they did not have one available. The women at the counter didnt seem to care at all. We were only told that it had happened to multiple other people that day and they were all really upset too. Ya think?! They couldnt care less that they were completely screwing me over. I actually even called to ask a question a couple days prior to our pick up date. Nothing was said about our rental not being available. We had to drive 45 minutes back home after being there for 40 minutes trying to figure it all out. Then had to drive another hour to the only place we could find with a mini van available last minute on Memorial Day weekend that we could have for 10 days. We had to spend DOUBLE the amount what we had planned on for a car and ended up leaving several hours late for our trip because of this. This company is horrible! Never again!
