We just moved in the area and had to find a new mechanic that was close by and saw Hanks Auto Repair. Ive been a customer for 15 years. Sadly, no more. I had them change my plugs & wires on July 2. That weekend, I was on the highway and the car started to miss. I was able to get to my destination. When I got in the car to come home, the condition was worse and the check engine light came on. After looking it over and making some calls, I decided to make the stressful 3-hour drive home. I took the car into the dealer, thinking I had a major problem. The diagnosis? The plugs were loose! I went to Hanks to tell Bob. He basically shrugged his shoulders and said a plug must have popped off. Nothing more was said.

Labor was super cheap but parts seemed way overpriced so I guess they even out. Job was well done and repairs were done quickly.

I received great service at this shop. We needed a headlight replaced in one day. The type of car that I brought in requires considerable time to do that. The mechanic finished in well under a day. I was very impressed with the volume of other cars that he had at the time.

Second time I’ve called to arrange service and both times I spoke to someone who was rude and unwilling to listen. Before I could even finish speaking, the lady cut me off and told me they don’t even have appointments for several weeks. Would have been fine with me but it was as if she were trying not to take any customers. I will be taking my car elsewhere.

Best shop in town. Bob really knows his stuff and deals with his customers honestly and fairly, a refreshing change from far too many of his competitors. Those less knowledgeable about the intricacies of automobiles can be confident you will not be sold unnecessary parts or services. A++

I stopped in for a state inspection and witnessed one of the mechanics making sure he made the right change for a womans cost on her jeep. He owed her 2 bucks and she said not to worry. But he found the 2 bucks and made sure she got it. Impressed. I know lots of mechanics wouldnt have made a fuss about that sort of thing. These guys did!

Straightforward, no BS

Called this place to schedule a time to come get my car looked at because it was having trouble starting. The lady I talked to seemed very uninterested in my business seemed like she was wanting to hang up without giving me an answer to my question. She said I would need to drop my car off in the morning and leave it there that day in order for them to just test and see if it was my starter (something that takes minutes to diagnose).. Then wouldnt even tell me how much it would cost in order for me to get a starter replacement or just to test it in general. All in all, I will not be going here because who in the world is going to drop off their car somewhere that wont even give them quote or an estimate, then wants you to drop your car off all day and bill you for something that takes literally minutes and could be any random price because shes literally refusing to simply write me a quote.

This place is great. I have never encountered a mechanic like Jeff. He is super laid back and easy going. I read through some of the unfavorable reviews below and they are not accurate. Even if Jeff doesnt complete the repair perfectly the first time, he will stand behind his work until it is right. I highly recommend this shop. Just plan ahead and make an appointment because they are pretty busy.

Bob was so kind that he really helped me while i was in a bind. Mounted my spare tire, and didn’t charge for it. I really am indebted to him and his shop. I will definitely swing them my business again sometime.

Been going here for about 4 years. First with my 99 Corolla, now with my 2013 Impreza. Fair and good priced. Always take the time to explain whats going on, what work they did and they always call with the diagnosis before they proceed with work. Honest about what work should be done asap, and what work can wait.

I first went to Hanks Auto Repair some years ago on the recommendation of another mechanic who couldnt get to my vehicle in the time frame I needed. Since then they have been my go to for all our vehicles.I can count on the them to tell me what a vehicle needs, and more importantly, what it doesnt need so we dont spend money on unnecessary repairs.They have their own tow truck and very reasonable tow rates.The employees are to the point, which I prefer. Didnt go there cause my car was under warrenty but sent a few people there and they loved it. One had an engine light but they couldnt find anything. They reset it and didnt charge anything. The dealer was trying to beat my friend out of 2000 dollars. Very honest. Im about to start taking my car there.

These guys do a good, honest job at reasonable prices. They have told me straight up on two separate occasions that they dont recommend me getting certain things fixed (when they could have recommended it to me, trying to get more money).

I agree with most of the comments here, I had state safety test done by them ... Jeff is professional yet helpful; he answered all my questions those not related to safety test. I will definitely recommend him

This guy didnt seem to want to work on my car. He made an appt to look at my car at 8 am. I dropped it off and walked with my three kids to the hospital where my daughter was admitted at the time. It was freezing outside and there were several people standing around and they didnt even offer a ride. I called to check on it at 1230 and he hasnt even looked at it yet. Said he was just getting ready to. Finally got done with it at close to 3pm and he wasnt sure what was wrong with it. Said it could be one thing or the other but it would be around $450 to fix it. Needless to say I didnt have him do the work. I definetly do not recommend this place.

I dropped off my vehicle in good condition for a MO state vehicle inspection. I had it serviced a few days prior at the dealership, with no issues. An employee called me back saying I failed my inspection due to a large crack in the windshield, one that was not present when I dropped the car off in their care. I had to replace the windshield on my own. Would not recommend their service to anyone. No accountability.

Terrible customer service and fixed the car to the tune of $650 but obviously didnt know what they were doing considering the car still had the same problem when they were done. Then started guessing what was wrong and couldnt figure it out. Ultimately took the car somewhere else and it was fixed within a day. Turns out they werent even close and must not have had the tools to properly diagnose the problem. Would never go there again!!!! They are in a rough part of town and you cant leave your cars outside without them being vandalized so they keep them inside but charge you outrageous fees if you cant pick the car up in 3 days. However, they are closed on the weekend and Saturday and Sunday count in those 3 days. If you want to be treated poorly and pay for repairs that you might not need I would go here but if not, I would steer clear and take your car to a more reputable auto repair shop.

Some of the worst customer service. I walked in the door and no one acknowledged me. The owner or manager was sitting at his desk, facing away from customers coming in and talked to me while facing the other way. The replaced my part for a reasonable price, but this lack of customer interaction 101 really put a sour taste in my mouth.

Rude as hell i sed i wanted an estament and he sed idk wats wrong with ur car ya u dont caz i didnt tell u then he kept his aditude im shocked hes in business with his aditude and how rude

Very Honest, wont try to sell you something you dont need. Also cheaper than the other 6 garages I called by a couple hundred dollars.
